Not as good as the chippy in Astwood Bank but the chubby lad Lucas with the Jake Paul haircut is relatively pleasant in a simple kind of way. Their best worker Mandip has unfortunately left.

Have been going to this chip shop for over 30 years and the standard has really dropped in the last few years. The portion sizes are appalling and the chips often look reheated - maybe ones they haven’t sold at lunch? When Louis isn’t there the place is run by a bunch of kids. You expect some youngsters to lack confidence but it’s like they’ve been drained of any personality…. Feel like the ‘chef’ is a bit of a bully too seeing the way he talks to staff and how fearful they are around him. Really sad as had been best chip shop in Redditch - now like visiting a school canteen being run by the pupils. Sort it out - although will be trying elsewhere.

Phoned up for a collection order, was told 20 mins which was fine. However, when we got it home, it looked like it had been ready for ages - ordered large fish (cod) but got a measly small piece of fish which I suspect wasn't Cod, batter was cold, greasy and overcooked. Ordered large Doner Kebab with salad, but got doner meat - again cold, the southern fried chicken was slightly warm, but again looked like it had been ready for a while. Chips were ok, but almost cold. The best thing was the steak and kidney pie, but cant go far wrong with heating that up. Such a shame, it used to be a fab little place with good fresh, hot food.

Went here tonight to treat me and my Husband for a chip and fish supper, we were disgusted at the Fish, it had been refried two maybe three times the ‘batter?’ was very dark, greasy and couldn’t be cut with a knife. The chips or should I say scratchings were so hard and very overcooked, most of our treat went in the bin, their prices are much too high for something that you can’t eat. That’s one chip shop I won’t be going to ever

Awful food. Overpriced also for what it is Went here maybe a year ago and was awful chips were brown and looked like they’d been make with sprouting potatoes, didn’t go again for a year. Went again april 2023 and thought it may be different or maybe a one off. Nope. Awful again Brown manky chips that looked and tasted like they were from lunchtime, and made from old sprouting potatoes, and best of all payed £6 for large chips and curry sauce. Absolute rip off. Walk a little further and go to rectory road chippy as their chips are always amazing. Only positive is we were in and out in 1 minute because there was nobody else in there (wonder why!!)

The only fish and chip shop in the world in my 60. years where entering the premises to walking out with cod and chips, took 23 minutes. Staff pleasant enough, but inefficient and inattentive, I answered the same question 3 times. I was told he was doing me a fresh fish when’s I eventually order, he battered my piece of cod and dropped it in the fryer 8 minutes later The fish, a good portion didn’t have much flavour, and the chips were awful - soft and “soggy”. Never again.

Ordered our food through Uber, paid for priority. My daughter and I both had mixed kebab and chips in a tray. When it arrived it looked a though it had been cooking for ages, dark in colour, dried out and when you tried to eat it it was hard and cold. I have messaged and sent a photo to the Inn Plaice, which I can see they have seen, but not had the decency to reply. Very disappointed

It is very annoying and just leaves a bitter taste when we are all doing what British people do best and queue outside the shop when a person who is obviously known to the staff gives them a wave from outside and then beckoned in by said staff and is served..... And to add insult to injury there is no mask on the queue jumper and he is not challenged about it..... This is not in the spirit of what we are all going through. No fair and something noted by all of us that queue in the cold and rain to all your mates to jump the queue. I won’t be returning anytime soon that’s for sure.

This used to be one of, if not the best chip shop in Redditch and it's just slipped, a lot due to the staff and also the quality of the fish. The chips are cooked well and you get MASSIVE portions. But the fish batter was filled with grease and inedible. The young staff stomp around like they don't really want to be there and it's just a bit of a shame really. It's really tired in there too. Fish is very expensive and if you want to charge that much, it needs to be as good as the other chip shops in Redditch. Which, unfortunately, it just isn't anymore.

Inn Plaice used to be my favourite chip shop in Redditch. Used to have chicken kebabs rotating over a BBQ that blew you away when you walked in. Unfortunately they have downsized since my last visit and taken away all of the features that made it stand out. Kebab and chips were decent, but nowhere near what it once was. It makes a refreshing change in these times for someone to go out of their way to deliver customer satisfaction. These turned out to be the nicest fish and chips I've ever had in this part of the country. The chips were nicely golden and well cooked - exactly as I like them, the fish was nicely battered and tasty.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful fish and chip supper at the Inn Plaice. We have used the takeaway chippy for many years but have never tried the restaurant until now. My wife will only eat plaice or lemon sole and, therefore, we popped in earlier in the week to ensure they would be able to cook one for her today. Sure enough, when we arrived we were shown to our table by a very polite young man who said he was expecting us and would arrange for the sole to be cooked to order straight away. I had large haddock and chips with a side of onion rings and curry sauce. When the meals were delivered to the table the portions were truly huge. The haddock was enormous and I didn't realise lemon sole grew so large. We expected 4 or 5 onion rings as a side order but there was a large plate full of the best we had ever tasted. The batter on the fish and onion rings was lovely and crispy and not greasy in the slightest. Everything tasted fresh, was piping hot and delicious. As Weight Watchers the last time we had fish and chips must have been over 5 years ago but now that we realise how good the food is here, we'll make it our first choice for a decadent treat every so often. I cannot recommend the Inn Plaice highly enough and whilst there may be other chippy's in Redditch that receive national acclaim, this is the one we shall be using in future. It is also fantastic value for money.

I was in a party of 9, I had previously telephoned in advance to see if I required to book a table, I was advised that it was not necessary, but if they got busy they would reserve a table for us; as soon as we arrived they handed us the menus and requested our drink choices - we were in two groups for paying. Amongst our group there were 2 gluten free diets and a 3 month old baby. They immediately brought us some hot water for the little one and explained that they would fry the gluten free items in a completely separate fryer. There was one member who changed their mind a couple of times, but the waitress stayed calm and repeated the order twice before going and processing it. I cannot express my gratitude enough for everything that was done to make my birthday tea a success. When it came to paying the bills everything was correct absolute stars all of them. Everyone in the party said that their fish and chips were of a very high quality, hot and fresh; we had ordered 3 portions of battered mushrooms but they only had enough for 2, they offered to go and buy some more mushrooms from the local shop.We will all be visiting this eatery again most definately.

Recommended by a friend, it didn't disappoint.Lovely light, crisp golden battered fish. Fish (both cod and haddock) was thick and chunky. None of that minced up rubbish from the frozen counter in the supermarkets. The batter is that nice, you can eat it on its own. It's not greasy or slimy on the inside next to the fish. The chips are CHIPS, not crisps off cuts. Me and my husband 'eat out' there at least once a month. Basically, eating out comprises of us sitting in the car with our travel set of salt pepper serviettes plastic forks etc!!! The car smells afterwards, but it's good for a laugh with freshly cooked piping hot fish and chips. Boom!!

Well where do I start, we have been using this fish and chip shop for years. Louie and he staff are always so welcoming and cannot do enough for you, they go above and beyond. The takeaway fish and chips are always fresh and the staff will accommodate you your needs, if you don't like thick batter just asked and they will cook your fish in a thinner batter, if you want freshly cooked chips they will cook you some, if you have food allergies just let them know and they will cook items differently. The restaurant is lovely and clean, the food is served quickly and promptly. Personally I prefer the restaurant as you can relax and socialise with the Owner Louie and his wife. He is a fab owner and his staff are always so welcoming. The portion sizes are massive and I never seem to finish the meal. I was staying in a hotel for a training course & didn't like the look of the hotel menu so popped into the nearest town. I thought the Inn Plaice was just a chip shop but how wrong was I? Upon entering I was confronted with a seating area with plenty tables and a nice bar, a couple of steps to the right and you were in the chip shop area. Too many choices of what to eat but I went for a kebab but seeing the freshly cooked golden battered cod in the cabinet had me ordering that as well even though I knew I wouldn't eat it all. I got chatting to the Greek Cypriot owner who reminded me of all of our fantastic Greek holidays, so friendly & nothing was too much trouble. I stood at the bar area sinking a sneaky pint whilst chatting away to this guy, the food was bagged up ready to go but kept in the cabinet so it stayed hot whilst I finished my pint and the chat. I wished the owner well & headed back to my room, the cod was huge with a lovely crispy batter & the kebab was well above the average, the salad was very fresh all in all I wish it was local to me although I would probably put on too much weight lol PS two kids came in and order sausage and chips which was promptly wrapped, they then took a seat at one of the tables & the man very kindly said to his wife "get those boys some cutlery & plates"

The Inn Plaice is one of the best and most prominent chip shops in Redditch. But despite its deserved popularity, most people don’t seem to realise that they have a separate, fully licensed restaurant attached to it (next door). This isn’t just a few plastic seats in the corner, either. It is a very nicely presented establishment with proper tables, chairs and tableware. There would be seating for around 60 or so, I would guess. The staff could not be any friendlier, and they made our group of 22 feel really welcome. At the end of the night, there was nothing but compliments from everybody. No grumbles whatsoever. The food, as you would expect from such a well established business, is exceptionally good and amazing value – only just marginally more expensive than the takeout prices, with most meals in the £5.50 or £6.95 (for big portions) range. As well as all the usual chip shop options, they have a nice grill, too, on which skewered lamb and chicken kebabs can be freshly cooked to order.Louis, the owner, is one of the friendliest and most welcoming people you could wish to meet.I highly recommend the Inn Plaice restaurant for anybody wanting a good, hearty meal out at an excellent price. I hope the restaurant continues to thrive, and I hope my rating here helps move this listing further up the chain, because it really does deserve to be much higher.Superb food, friendly and efficient service, nice atmosphere and excellent prices. Just thrown away our lunch which we paid £9.30 for after visiting this place, the woman who served us hardly spoke and had a bad attitude and had no customer service what so ever. The Chips looked like they'd been sat there since this morning.Worst food I've ever had. Avoid this place if possible !!!!!!!

Traditional sit-down fish and chip restaurants are a rarity. The Inn Plaice is modern, airy, well-lit and comfortable with generous table-space and free parking . It has always been spotlessly clean on my regular visits. There is a Mediterranean menu as well and it's licenced. The owner and staff make you feel welcome and the food is always fresh. It's excellent. If you be a stranger summoned by cruel fate to Redditch (twinned with Hell) shun the drug-raddled wasters and their dogs outside the two town centre pubs overshadowed by the grim Town Hall. Seek the safety of your car and go to Headless Cross where the big water tower is. It's about a mile out of the way but much more civilised and worth the effort. In Redditch no-one can hear you scream.

Very high price for average fish and chips. The portions were tiny and left me hungry after eating it. Only went because Rectory Road was closed and won't go back!

Was passing by while on business on Wednesday 17TH March..when I noticed this delightful fish bar and restaurant..we decided to drop in ..Louis and Rita (the owners) and Kirsty our serving waitress coulnt do enough for this..the traditional fired Mediterranean Greek Grill (which i have never seen the likes of before)) was Fired on and we ordered some Greek style skewered marinated Kebab which was available in several flavours followed by freshly cooked chips and salad ...I have never eaten anything so delicious.....By far the tastiest meal I have ever eaten here in this area and in the UK AND IN THE UK and i am very well travelled...My client ordered the traditional Fish and Chips with Peas that was on the fabulous menu..he was raving on about how delicious and fresh it was.a great eating experience all round i would recommend the Inn Plaice to all in this Area....

We've been customers for years, and after enjoying take-away meals, decided to visit the new restaurant. We took our 3-year-old who was made as welcome as we were. The restaurant looks wonderful. Solid wood tables with comfy leather chairs are lit by atmospheric lighting which makes the whole place feel very relaxed. The staff are attentive and friendly, and are genuine in their care to excellent service. You are not ignored or pestered, the service was just right. We ordered kebab meat and chips, which came out with a generous helping of fresh salad, and was served with a variety of sauces. Two portions of mini fish and chips were also ordered, one with delicious crisp batter bits and a portion of curry sauce. The meals were served hot, freshly made, and served on good quality crockery, with sauces presented in small bowls. Condiments were on the table, for you to help yourself. The restaurant has a bar which is very reasonably priced, and the drinks were served in good quality glassware. At the end of our meal, the little one was spoilt with a lolly pop, which she loved. The food as ever was delicious, and the portions were good sizes. The price was very good; a sit in meal for three with drinks came to under £25.00. The restaurant has toilet facilities, and there was a high chair for small children. It was clean and cosy. We will certainly be going back, and would highly recommend it.

Stopped for a takeaway chicken kebab on a Tuesday lunchtime ,but this is no ordinary kebab , the owner a gentleman named Louis offered to cook me a choice of tandoori or Brazilian BBQ freshly prepared on a skewer to be cooked on a charcoal grill,it was an offer that that i couldn't resist.I chose the Brazilian BBQ flavour as it wasn't a flavour i was accustomed to , the manager said take a seat and it would be ready in approx 12 minutes.I watched it being cooked and just after 10 minutes the manager probed the chicken to see if it had been cooked to the correct temperature. The kebab was then served in a pitta bread with fresh salad of lettuce cucumber and tomato sprinkled with lemon juice.,and wrapped up in Louis distinctive way.The flavour and texture of the chicken was perfect the balance of herbs and spices mixed with the salad made for a meal to remember.I can wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and the manager made me feel very welcome and was very accommodating. If you are in the Redditch area and want a kebab freshly made on skewers the traditional Mediterranean way then Inn Plaice is the place to go

My partner and I tried the newly refurbished restaurant rather than the normal take-away option. We had large cod and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it, the fish was pure white and flakey with a light golden colour batter accompanied with delicious chips. We enjoyed speaking to the owner who is passionate about fish and chips and proceeded to inform us on the type of fish used and weight and so forth, made interesting conversation. In our opinion one of the best fish and chips in Redditch and the addition of the new restaurant is a bonus. We use the Inn plaice on a regular basis and will continue to do so, just thought we would put cyber pen to paper as it were.

We have been using this takeaway for a while, and it has always been very good. But the addition of a restaurant has really made a huge difference! Unlike other places, the prices are not raised massively at all when eating in. We often go in on a Friday evening with my two young daughters and we are always made thoroughly welcome. Excellent food, lovely staff, and the owner frequently does 'special deals' for the children to make sure they get a meal they want and will eat. This place deserves to be busier, it ought to be. Great location, 2 large free car parks, great food, sensible prices, clean, friendly, really....... What more could you ask for!!!

Lovely staff!!! The place has 2 parts - restaurant and take away, but the menus are slightly different so if you want to eat in - ask before ordering. Got free drink with my dinner *not part of any deals* and was offered free tea/coffee/latte after the dinner :) The food was really delicious :) Would highly recommend it to anyone who likes sea food, kebabs ...

Always ready to cook the meal you want and now offering a restaurant or take-away. As others have said, free car parking front and rear mean that Inn Plaice is my regular fish and chip shop.

Inn Plaice is both a takeaway and a restaurant. The food is great and the restaurant prices are good. My kids and I can't all manage both fish and chips, but the owner was flexible and accommodating, allowing us to order 2 portions of chips with 3 fish and adjusting the price to reflect what we ordered. The all steak pie is also delicious. The restaurant deserves to be far busier than it is. It is better (both food and price) than a similar place we tried over in Solihull....

My friend and I went for a last lunch here today as The Forest has been sold and closes tomorrow. It will be much missed as it’s always had wonderful food, atmosphere and very friendly and professional staff. Hopefully the new owners can match the current standards. It’s main problem is that it’s position on the high street means that it has difficulty picking up passing trade as it’s easy to drive past while looking for the entrance and it’s a fair way before you can turn round! So, good luck with trying to solve that puzzle. So, we’re going to try the sister restaurant, The Chequers at Crowle...

Since moving away from the area, it's been a good few years since last visited here, fantastic welcome by all of the young, enthusiastic staff who could not do any more to ensure that we had a great evening. Excellent food in the lovely surroundings, loved the addition of the outside bar and the street food served looked great. We will definitely be back when next down.

Our lunch was prebooked for 1pm for 23 people. The meals were ordered in advance so we expected to start the meal no later than 1.15pm however the first meal wasn't served until nearly 2.30pm and they came out between 2.30 and 3.15pm in dribs and drabs with the final meal being served at 3.15pm. The empty plates were collected from tables where only some of the meals had been served and desserts started to be served at 3.30pm, again in dribs and drabs. The food was good and not complicated - eg fish and chips, steak pie, veggie salad and the desserts even less complicated eg brownie and ice cream, just ice cream and also apple crumble. I don't know if they had trouble in the kitchen on that day but the wait for food was far too long and then the wait for desserts was similarly overlong. The pub wasn't busy and we seemed to be the only diners.
