My friend and I went for a last lunch here today as The Forest has been sold and closes tomorrow. It will be much missed as it’s always had wonderful food, atmosphere and very friendly and professional staff. Hopefully the new owners can match the current standards. It’s main problem is that it’s position on the high street means that it has difficulty picking up passing trade as it’s easy to drive past while looking for the entrance and it’s a fair way before you can turn round! So, good luck with trying to solve that puzzle. So, we’re going to try the sister restaurant, The Chequers at Crowle...

3 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday - we all had the Aubrey Allen Roast Beef Sunday Lunch. For the price of £17.50 there was not enough meat - only 2 thin slices of beef, the Yorkshire pudding was not cooked properly so was very doughy in the middle, the vegetables were nice though and plenty of them.Overall it was a reasonable meal but I do think it was well overpriced.

Good pub with a good selection of beer and lagers, the restaurant is comfortable, and the food and service is excellent.

I was looking for a quiet place to take my partner to for a nice meal and the forest inn couldn't have been better. the lighting was really nice, the staff were friendly, the location is great and they have a nice sized car park so no trouble getting a space. The food was spectacular and didn't take long to come out at all, it was just the right temperature too. The portion sizes were also spot on. I cant fault the place, even the prices were average. We will definitely be returning.

Just gorgeous! So fed up of bad restaurant, we tried the Forest and it was lovely! Quite quirky inside, nice service, and the food was really... really good! Matt was the chef... (we likes it so much we asked!) We will definitely be back and we're so pleased to have found such a good restaurant. Everything was delicious!

We popped in for lunch on Saturday. From walking into the place we had a fantastic greeting from every member of the team that was on duty, a great start. We had a seat in the very please to restaurant. We were brought complimentary olives and bread. The food we had was out of this world. A superb gem of an establishment. I had the faggots and my wife had the pie. Both were exceptional

We dine regularly at The Forest, so notice when changes occur. It's a gastro pub so eating here has never been cheap, but the atmosphere and food were, for some time, quite good. However, a recent meal with friends left us rather disappointed and we will probably eat elsewhere next time. My pork t-bone loin chop was solid and unappetising, served with half a cooked tomato, and chips which were frizzled to death. Two sausage and mash dishes were judged ok - well, you can't go far wrong with such a basic dish. The only person in our party who really enjoyed his food chose the whole sea bass, which did look nice. Vegetables are extra, but all the dishes needed something more to complement the basic main courses. Puddings were NOT a success: the dark chocolate and honey creme brulee was far too thick and rich for such quantity, so much of it was left. And a small wedge of Bakewell tart and icecream was spoiled by the addition of an inappropriate jus dribbled over it. Our biggest complaint however, was the behaviour of one member of waiting staff. She repeatedly and abruptly butted into our conversation at table, without saying 'excuse me' or letting us finish our sentence. Her lack of courtesy created an uncomfortable atmosphere, which frankly, diners neither want nor appreciate when they have paid for a relaxed evening out. Obviously, waiters have a job to do and need to ascertain menu choices. But that is no excuse for rudeness and discourtesy. This is not the first time in the past year we have left The Forest dissatisfied, but it's the first time we have decided to highlight our disappointment. This recent experience will be the last, as we have now decided to go elsewhere. A great pity as we live very locally.

This place is a really beautiful place to visit. Very chilled and relaxing atmosphere. Brilliant tentacle friends or family. They are very accommodating and nothing is to much. Must Visit.

Long wait for two sausage sandwiches that arrived just before we were about to walk out! Filling virtually non existant - Half a sausage for each of us cut into pieces and pushed to the front of the sandwich to make it look as though there was more in there - a scrape of red onion otherwise just dry bread and bitty chips that looked overcooked and very tired.

Sadly after our experience I find it hard to understand how this establishment can achieve 4.5 star rating on trip advisor.

My wife and I had a really enjoyable meal and experience at the Forest at Feckenham on a Saturday evening.

Lovely lunch for Mothers Day. Just me and my old mum. Hake fillet for Mum and a veggy wellington for me. Both delicious. Table/bar staff excellent. Can't add any more really.

I have been here a couple of times and wasn't that impressed with the food, atmosphere or service. Good job I gave it another go. Visited on Saturday night and I had the hake, it was cooked to perfection. My partner had the chilli burger and he is very hard to please. He said it was "soooo tasty". The staff were super friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was great. We moved into the bar area for drinks and brought in our dog out of the car. He was very impressed too and wandered round chatting and sniffing.

We were visiting the area and were attracted to The Forest from previous reviews. The “village pub” appearance from the front of the building hides a large, well appointed restaurant area at the rear. The menu is not enormous but includes several unusual additions such as faggot with crushed peas as a starter that was delicious! Food is well prepared and attractive and is delivered to the table pleasantly hot. Staff are welcoming and attentive and there is is good range of beers and wine.

Lovely soup and sweet but the main attraction for us was the ribeye steak which was disappointing and more like a sandwich steak. The chips were hard and when we complained were offered a complimentary coffee which never arrived.

Visited here after hearing good things but I must say it didn’t live up to the hype. A standard unimaginative menu and average quality food. Staff seemed pleasant enough but I wouldn’t go as far as calling them friendly. I expected more atmosphere and experience from The Forest and feel let down. We haven’t written off giving it another go, maybe we were unlucky and went on an off night

Went for Sunday dinner with my other half I had a pheasant roast. Never ate it before but I was pheasantly suprised haha (smashed it) veg is great and fresh. Sundays there is a free cheese and crackers so that's another bonus

I attended The Forest at Feckenham with my family on a Sunday for Sunday lunch, the service was great with the team welcoming us and even accompanying my error in booking the wrong size table.

Well I might of given this place a review but it was closed, apparently it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays, how is this acceptable? It makes me feel that this place must not be doing well! Sad times!!

My wife and I had Saturday lunch here along with my wife’s uncle and aunt.

Went Saturday 26th January for 60th birthday meal for 20 people. Food and service were excellent. Staff were very attentive and brought in cake singing Happy Birthday. Lovely atmosphere and wouldn’t hesitate to go again. Well done to all at The Forest.

My daughter and I visited the Forest last week and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The pub wasclean as always , and the food was really nice quality. We will definitely be visiting again.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch here recently with friends. The food was superb and the service was excellent. Worthy of particular note was the cheese soufflé starter and the roast beef, the soufflé was light and full of flavour and the beef was perfectly cooked pink and very tender.

Owner is awful..wouldn't be going there again!! Some lovely places in Feckenham and nearby..maybe the owner should think about this!!

Family get together at the Forest for the second year, and it will probably be our regular spot. Good food (the cassoulet in my hake with cassoulet wasn't actually cassoulet, but still very nice), nice wine (overpriced of course, but there's a full range so you can choose the price point you want to be fleeced at), friendly service (attentive but unfussy). Recommended.

Always excellent food. A step-up from your usual country pub with a regularly changing menu. Not just steak and chips (but you can get this also)

We visited mid week lunch time. The restaurant was a little quieter than we was expecting. We received a nice warm and friendly greeting from the staff and shown to our table. There is a nice selection of dishes The complimentary bread was a nice touch and our lunches were very tasty and enjoyable.

Spent a nice Friday evening here, menu is varied, good choice of wine and beers, good value for money, service is excellent, just the right amount of attention but not overbearing. One place we will keep returning too

Half a dozen visits in, and standard still very good. Menu varied, and staff attentive. Very good service at bar, and atmosphere friendly and welcoming, will return.

We stopped at the Forest for lunch on the 27/11 on a particularly blustery, rainy day. The restaurant is modern, cosy and warm. The service was great. The food was excellent. It was clear the chefs took time and consideration in both the presentation and preparation of the meals. The acoustics of the restaurant meant we could easily hear one another, which is an often overlooked but vital part of a good restaurant experience. I've already recommended this restaurant to friends and family and will continue to do so.

We went for an early dinner - main course and large glass of wine each. The sausages and mash were good but my wife’s fish and chips for £17.50 was absurd. We found the waitresses too eager to clear away our olives and bread and somewhat irritating. Perhaps it just doesn’t cater for a quick and reasonably priced meal. The ambience is good - more a restaurant than a pub.

I recently moved to this area and invited my friends to dine at the Forest as Id heard such good reviews. When we arrived we went straight into the dinind area past the bar. A young dark haired barman shouted 'awr right', we nodded and said, yes thank you. Then when the other members of our party came thru the door the barman shouted again 'AWR RIGHT' even louder. Once we got past the 'gate keeper; we sat down and ordered olives, they took 20 mins to come and werent that great. The food was served in small portions and was moerately warm. This was our opportubity to show our guests that we could have lovely pubs this side of town too!

We went to the forest at feckenham just over a month ago,I was a little dissapointed, I ordered the monkfish ,which was cooked lovely , but unfortunately was more like a starter than a main course ,it was tiny.

From start to finish this place delivers Never had a bad meal or experience. Great staff and great food.

We’ve been here once before, and our reaction was basically “wow” - what a gem. I think I said the only reason for us not wanting to return ASAP was the limited menu options.

My wife and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary with an evening meal and were not disappointed. Presentation was excellent and the flavours in the meal spot on for us. The beers and wine list seemed to offer something for anyone including a few local ales.

We have visited The Forest a lot of times in the evening and it has always been wonderful but unfortunately the lunch time Summer Special Menu was a disappointment. The mackeral starter looked very appetising but only 3 strips of very tiny pieces of mackeral We took some friends and only found out AFTERWARDS from our friends that one of the 150 g Aubrey Allen rump steaks was full of gristle as well as being tough. The Vegetable risotto was delicious. Other steaks were fine. I am sure this is a hiccup but certainly not representative of the usual high standards of The Forest.

Visited on an early Saturday evening with my wife and daughter. Between us we had the twice-baked Fontal cheese soufflé, the crispy white bait, the hake, the monkfish tail and the cod and crayfish fish cakes. Overall the food was great, however at £20.50 I thought the monk fish was somewhat pricey for what was served. Service was good and the restaurant has a nice ambience to it. With each of us having a starter and main course and a couple of drinks our bill was £110. Not cheap. Also the floor was sticky in the women’s toilets.

Food was of a good quality, a small menu but with enough choice. Staff were good as we were not hurried to our table despite the booking time.

We ate in the bar as it has more atmosphere. The menu was good Pub food with nothing too fancy. The staff and service was excellent. Food was good and not too expensive. The steak I had was excellent although I would have liked a bit more salad.

I really enjoyed visiting this restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried, the food was out of this world and the staff were good too. The soufflé for starter was a piece of heaven, fish cakes for the main course melted in my mouth and dessert was to die for. I thoroughly recommend this venue as good quality, value for money and good atmosphere.

Great menu and food was amazing. Staff couldn’t be more attentive and were very welcoming. Definitely worth a stop and even if not for a meal a nice afternoon drink outside in the garden.

Fabulous food and cooked to perfection. Had fish which was beautifully cooked. Johnny the chef is a star. The food here is consistently good. The staff are great and the service is excellent. Liked the new menu and the wine list is excellent too. We always have a great evening when we go to The Forest.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner! We had a twice-baked fontal cheese souffle as a starter, a burger and fishcakes as mains and a brownie for dessert. Everything was very tasty and we really enjoyed ourselves! There were a few things however that could have been improved. Firstly the service was quite slow and we saw several people trying to flag down waiters. Secondly the air conditioning was blowing very cold air in my face. It was the first colder day after the long heat wave, so maybe that was the issue, but I saw some people sitting with their coats on. Overall a very good experience nonetheless and I wouldn't hesitate to return!

Had lunch there on Sunday ordered the soup to start which was warm had to ask for some bread. My son and his partner ordered the pate we waited to see if they were bringing any bread or toast alas they didn't we had to ask for some. My husband ordered the fish cake which came slightly burnt. The others ordered the chicken roast I ordered the noisette of steak lion, what a mistake, it was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. We went there for the 4th time and were not disappointed. The service is good and the food excellent. As a French couple, it can be difficult to find a restaurant which matches our criteria, but The Forest does.

Quiet tuesday night, Friendly welcome and staff. Menu choice very poor with no fishcakes or steak and kidney. Menu of the day was the same as the al a carte menu so literally 4 choices. Ordered Guinea fowl and Rump Steak - neither will set the world on fire, steak was tough and not great and the guinea fowl overcooked. Seasonal vegetables at £2.95 were frozen peas, 2 brussel sprouts, some kale and 4 beans, one of which was still frost damaged as it had not been prepared properly. Disappointed that the restaurant is running on such a tight budget given what they charge. I live in the village and just want the feedback to improve the consistency and for the restaurant to stop living on its reputation

Went to lunch with some friends. Midweek and very quiet. Friendly attentive staff and pleasant decor and atmosphere. Butty Bach beer good. Food, however, rather a letdown. No real problems but not very tasty and rather overpriced for the standard. This is our second visit and food experience has been similar both times.

Great food and lovely waiting staff, but the afternoon was spoiled by the totally unacceptable wait for food. 20 minutes for the starters to come out and 1 hour 15 minutes between starter and mains and this despite asking a waitress who said our food was being plated up and was 3-4 minutes away. It took another 20. Total 3 hours for three courses. Just doesn't work and on that basis, despite the lovely food I won't be returning.

Excellent service, waiting staff very friendly and didn't rush you, food was beautiful, fab atmosphere, deffinatley will return.

Living in the village, I pop in occasionally for a drink when walking the dogs and always have great service and the drinks are always good. Always offered a bowl for my dogs and sell dog biscuits. For such a smart establishment, it's great that they are doggy friendly.

We went to the Forest at Feckenham for the first time recently. We had a great meal and really good service, the staff couldn't do enough for us. It was a great atmosphere and the music was turned down low so that people could chat.We will certainly visit again.

We went for the first time last night and met up with good friends for dinner and drinks. We found it to be a very welcoming and friendly place with top class service.We had a drink in the bar first whilst saying hello to a few dogs and their owners then was shown through to the restaurant. I have to say the service from everyone was fabulous, really friendly and helpful.Dinner was delicious and presented well. We had our table booked at 19:45 and didn't leave until 10.30 but was not rushed in any way which was nice.Would definitely recommend.

We both had Steaks a fillet and a rib-eye both cooked just as asked, it was very flavoursome beef. The accompanying chips (generous portion) and field mushroom were as equally tasty. This was our first visit here and we loved the way the staff were friendly and efficient at their jobs. We sat in the restaurant part of the pub, on a day that started with a heavy frost, however it was a warm enough in this solid roofed conservatory. For desert I had a deliciously warm cherry soufflé with pistachio ice cream and my partner had a very tall ice cream desert full to the brim with hazelnut, vanilla and Choc chip ice cream topped with real cream, he smiled all the way through! We shall definitely return as there was a lot of menu choice and if this is how the food arrives at the table we want to try more!

Been here last year for sunday lunch and it was wonderful. Recently returned for dinner as a party of four and we were very glad we did!!! Outstanding dinning experience indeed and we are tough crowd of fussy eaters. 3 course each and each individual thoroughly enjoyed each course....we left feeling thoroughly satisfied!! Highly recommend!!!

Friendly, knowledgable, and pleasant service.If you want to get away from the standardised gastropub menu this is your place. They have chefs. Chefs who cook their own food.An excellent choice of wine and beers. You’ll like it. They even turned the music down.

This was the first opportunity to visit the Forest having just moved to the area. We were made very welcome by the excellent staff and the food was well presented and most importantly very well prepared. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. The cheese souffle starter provided a light start to the meal and the three main dishes of Salmon, Guinea fowl and Rump steak were all well cooked.We were particularly impressed by the young welcoming staff who were very attentive.We will certainly be back in the near future. This is pretty local to us so we use it quite regularly and are very very rarely disappointed! The food and service are always of a great standard and it’s always a pleasure to dine there. If I had to pick any fault whatsoever then I’d say the side dishes are a little small for the money sometimes but that’s just my opinion and they may suit others appetites.

Lovely place and a great lunch Menus great with a varied choice they like using local produce which is a positive for me! I had the lamb with a garlic jus and creamy mash.. unfortunately my mash was cold, I mentioned this but didn’t want to make a fuss the manager wasn’t happy and immediately said I will get you a big bowl of piping hot mash now.. I don’t want one as I was already full so I carried on, my dad had ham, duck egg and chips and that was really tasty ! Ordered bill and the manager took off the lamb dish at £18! And said he was really sorry I didn’t enjoy my meal.. I didn’t ask and they didn’t quibble the best way to be as I will defo go back! Super service

We liked this restaurant,there is a relaxed friendly atmosphere, the staff were helpful, but not intrusive, and most importantly the food was very good.Our friends who were with us both commented, that I had made a very good choice.So, brownie points ....and..... an enjoyable evening....my cup runneth over.

I have driven through this village many times but never noticed the pub/restaurant. Seven of us went there for my brother-in-law's sixtieth birthday. The restaurant was quite spacious so there was room to move between the tables. There were also sufficient staff who had been properly trained. So immediately better than most restaurants!The menu was quite imaginative and everyone was pleased with their choices. My Stcky Beef Ribs were excellent (see picture).

Large car park, warm welcome,pleasant surroundings, music and service,fantastic steak bavette. I have never tasted steak bavette before but have seen it twice recently on TV so tried it. A wonderful tasting steak cooked rare to medium rare as seen on TV. We were impressed with a most pleasurable dining experience and will return on a regular basis.
