Golden Carp Chippy in Redditch

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had from anywhere, tried so many places and never enjoy it as much as I do from here !

Went in to grab some lunch today. The staff were so friendly and funny, had a little conversation. And were given some free samples and they tasted amazing! And the food we ordered was so tasty. Thank you☺️

Half my order was incorrect so little disappointing. Chippy was closed by the time I had my order so I couldent get it rectified.

Food is so bad, cold and small portions

order totally wrong and when I phone to discuss it, they hung up on me. tried calling them back a few times but the wouldn't answer the phone

food was lovely ,nice chips,cod & scampi,driver could have been friendlier but it is what it is as they say !

We had a mix up with the app , but in the end we actually had a delivery, the chips were lovely ,so was the cod & scampi,the delivery driver was not the friendliest but perfection is very rare lol

Lovely chips. Fish was good but would have liked crispier batter.

Ordered the cod and didnt get it, tinned roe was poorly seasoned, mushy and was an oily mess and the chips were mushy

Absolutely disgusting. The curry sauce jas changed was like a brown colour and top spicy. The chips were under cooked won't be ordering again

South Londoner who’s not long moved to Redditch. Exceptional food, I’ve been to this establishment three times and the food is second to none, staff are professional and friendly and considering the quality and quantity of the food it’s ridiculously well priced! Absolute hidden gem and would definitely recommend to anyone passing through the area.

The kebab meat was cold chips were under cooked and still hard

Unfortunately the chips didn’t taste fresh they had an odd metallic taste. I was hoping fresh crunchy chips :(

Went for lunch today after picking my son up from nursery. Food & service is lovely Can't give 5 stars as the card machine is never working there is a cash machine near the shop but if u have to watch what u spend rather than just ordering and paying by card.

Ordered from here a few times now. Always great delivery time, yummy food and you can collect stamps from them so 10 out of 10!

Lovely hardworking staff, we were from Coventry out of town, made to feel welcome , young teen new staff member wonderful june20th and her trainer,,, Amazed by the dumb reviews of customers who had to wait because busy ? Newsflash , they busy ????? Great staff lovely food !

Had several orders & always been good, but last order was not good, fish was not good tasted strange, chips under cooked & curry sauce has changed & not nice, kebab meat was good.

Paid £31 for food that were the tiniest portions. It tastes good but will not be buying from here again given the sizes and the expense of it.

Considering theyve won awards they need lessons on cooking chips, soggy chips, need much more cooking. Double or triple cooked be a big improvement

An absolute delight, and really pleased it was early as I struggled with the Internet and was late placing the order. The food was exceptional.

Smallest portions ever disgusting for price

Food was nice but the portion sizes for the price I think is really excessive , the portions were small for £30 worth of two meals and a portion of chips

Food was really tasty - chips were great and couldn't fault the food we got at all. Nice to see everything wrapped in chip paper and then covered in foil to keep it hot in transit as well. My only negative was they forgot the pot of curry sauce and there was no salad on the kebab despite both being listed on the receipt. But it was a Saturday night and I'm sure they were busy! Least it wasn't one of the main meals - and the food was so nice it's easy to not worry about the missing items.

The option for sauce not on the app, but instructions to the restaurant was to add! Still not added!

Food was good and delivery was super quick the portions were terrible. Ordered large code and chips and large chicken meat and chips. We've had bigger small portions than what we received! A lot of money for not a lot of food

Usually order from here but unfortunately we won't be again. The mini fish was over cooked with hardly any fish inside & what was in there was dry & the portion of chips were extremely small! I was very disappointed.

Food was lukewarm. Unusual I know but it's the 2nd time now.

Pretty awful. The card machine never works. Anything off the donner rack? Forget it. It's never on midweek. Chips? Only if you like inconsistency. Maybe one or two half decent chips out of the whole under cooked mess. Staff? Children! Without an adult in the building and chit chatting with their friends and won't give you a nod of acknowledgement unless you're literally right on top of them. It's a doss hole at best. I mean, how difficult is it? It's fried food? Total waste of space place. Pretty depressing when all said and done.

The fish and chip meals were OK,but both chicken meals were small with the 2nd drumstick so small,having maybe 2 chicken nuggets wroth of chicken on it.the curry sauce also was very small amount despite paying xtra for it in a pot.many of the chips were over cooked, to be inedible.

First time I'm new to the area. best fish and chips I've ever had, the girl was so friendly I didn't get her name. I visited Tuesday 16th January 2024, so friendly definitely be back. See you Friday x

Loved the fish and chips but didn’t receive the spicy spuds i ordered which is disappointing as it’s my first order from Golden Carp

we had fish and chips with our order and was very disappointed it was packed in a small box so when it arrived the fish was broken up and the fish was soggy from the steam in the plastic bag it turned up in !! to make it worse the bag was tied up so no crispy chips. This is the 1st time it's happened, phoned the chippy to be told we'll we ran out of fish and chip box's at £15 it's a lot of money for soggy fish and chips so will not be ordering that again

The chips where that are usually pretty good from here were really dry, and did not have any salt and vinegar on as requested. And were pretty, not that warm. The fish was OK, but most of the batter had stuck to the paper. This meal really didn't travel well.

Had the £6.50 fish. Unfortunately it was all batter and very little fish.

I think that the food was prepared straight away and then left waiting for a courier. Food was inedible and ended up in the bin as nothing worse than cold fish and chips supper

Order was 2 hours late. I called up asked for a update the lady didn’t want to help me she just said call just eat they need to sort it out it’s not us. When I eventually got my order it was freezing so it went straight in the bin. Wouldn’t order from there again was vile.

Order was over an hour late (I understand it’s Friday night ) Food was not at its best. Chips were squashed and quality was was poor (like chips were the scrapings left over) . Shame.

Fantastic service and quality. Fast delivery. I have been to the shop in the past and all staff are polite and friendly and the level of hygiene is excellent. Will definitely be shopping here again.

Fish was soggy and not very warm. Was also very small for the price of a large cod. Chips were good.

Originally it was to be here by 5.45 at the latest. Times kept being changed. When it eventually arrived it was cold. It all had to be reheated in the oven. Worst delivery service ever!!!!! Don't bother ordering on a Friday.

So I came to matchborough chippy and suprise suprise the cash machine wasn't working (can't use card) so I thought ok I'll use just eat what a BIG mistake that was I had a regular portion of chips which I could count on my hand which I can only describe as embarrassing, chicken meat which was a tenner 🤷‍♂️was cold and the southern fried chicken was also really poor quality . I shall never return . I just don't understand how it could be so bad

This chippy is a great choice if you want a standard fish n chips or a doner kebab,the halumi is nice however,tends to be swimming in grease,if you want it to taste fantastic go down the road to Winyates chippy,despite being run by the same family winyates in my opinion tastes a lot better and you don't get that much grease on ya food

I usually get from winyates, i have no bad words for them, they give me crispy bits and have pickled eggs, but they wasnt open, so tried here, when i got it without egg and crispy bits and it was all packed together so made everything soggy i was going to leave a bad review, but its acctually really tastey

Last two visits have not been up to the usual standard. On one visit, got home, and was missing the pie, we had an extra curry sauce! The weather was horrific so didn't go back. Last night, brought small chips and curry sauce £4.40, the chips were undercooked and the curry sauce was pretty much solid, hardly any sauce - such a small portion. Such a shame, food/service has always been good, I think they're taking their focus off the quality of the food. Not sure I'll be going back.

Absolutely love this chippy and dine there every week. Food is always hot, always tasty and portion sizes are excellent for the price. Best in Redditch in my opinion.
