The Golden Goose in Redditch

Always a great meal, Sunday toasts are 10/10. Our last few visits we were greeted by Sharon, a lovely, friendly waitress who always goes above and beyond. She is a genuinely lovely woman.

After coming to this pub for a number of years every Christmas as a central place for family gatherings, I was disappointed to find that this year we could not book as they no long take large gatherings at peak times over Christmas through fear of no shows. Very disappointing to hear - we will take our large booking elsewhere

Best carvery I have had for a while. Generous portions of well cooked meat. Well seasoned sauce with brocoli and cauliflower. Abundance of fresh veg. Home cooked fresh fruit crumble with real cream. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend, will be back.

Just been to the Golden Goose for lunch again. Same as before - lovely food and atmosphere and the ever-smiling Nicky making sure we felt welcome and got us our favourite table as before.

Polite and friendly upon entry everyone had a great energy about them, service is all at the bar. Good drinks selection, noticed a dirty glass, happily exchanged and reduced, what a lovely gesture! Carvery style food, meats are to die for! Cooked beautifully (I had gammon and turkey) meat portion sizes OK. yorkies, amazing. Veg was a great selection just needed seasoning but understand that's my personal preference, and being from a food background, I can't see non foodies having anything bad to say as the selection was great and it was all cooked beautifully. Grounds are well looked after, just be careful in the car park, all be it the spaces are plentiful just watch it as it's bit of a bumpy ride in places.

Have been a few times this year but the last visit made me not want to ever go back :)))) Firstly, the lady behind the bar ALWAYS has an attitude which is really irritating… if you don’t like your job hun - QUIT. We’ve had food that day and then went to order some desserts , order was taken paid etc…. the desserts arrive (mine was a hot dessert) and not even joking exactly 3 MINUTES later the same lady comes over and says unfortunately you have to leave in 5 minutes as we’re preparing the tables for the evening customers. To which we responded “we’ve literally just got our desserts we have kids how do you expect us to finish eating in 5 minutes ?” The lady did not have a good enough explanation for this just repeated again that we have 5 minutes. By that point we were not happy and told the lady that we will leave when we finish our food which they VERY HAPPILY took order for and took the money for without saying it is too late to order any more food…. All they had to do was let us know we can’t order desserts as they have to tidy up for the evening customers Absolutely pathetic. Won’t be returning.

Excellent carvery if you want to feed your face go here well cooked great staff try it been here a few times never disappointed good atmosphere a proper pub

This is an amazing cavery and great atmosphere, sharn (shamus) which a pleasure, we even diverted off M5 on way back from Devon, well worth it 👌

Lovely atmosphere lovely fresh food but don't always make a booking .but last few times we have been.have been put in a small table in front of carvery,all tables are empty very quiet we were ther for hour and half tables still all empty ,so why were we put in front of carvery again.another family came in no booking and was put on a table with nice glasses and napkins we are pensioners of 87 and 74, why dose this happen .

Went to the goose today again service by Sean was polite the chef was also polite also funny with our son thanks again all for an amazing food will back soon

The warm welcome and service that we received made the food taste that little bit better ! Ps Update I must of caught them off guard on the previous visit! on our latest visit the reception was cold and the manager was rude! We won’t be going back!!

The guy who welcomes you and takes people to the table is rude with a total absence of customer skills. He should not be front of house! The Staff in general lack a customer focus and appear not to want to be there (Burnt out, worn out and apathetic). Too many people packed into a small space. Food is cold and meat is poor, with the beef being very fatty. Expensive for dreadful service, poor food and an overcrowded pub.

Carvery was gorgeous, fresh and well cooked. The pub felt cramped and the staff almost rushed us out it was that busy.

Front of house staff who was not professional as arrogant when we arrived and walked past table and knocked the chair I was sat on and did not acknowledge this, food was ok

I just cannot express how much I love their carvery and breakfast. I order it at least once or twice a week. I get it delivered to work. The portions are huge, the quality is amazing and the price is unbeatable. You will not find anything better value in town, or more delicious. I’m absolutely obsessed. My only issue is you’re not always available for delivery at breakfast time. I honestly just need it for breakfast and lunch. Also they always read my notes and cater to my low carb requirements, which I really appreciate as a lot of places don’t do that. 10 out of 10 guys. Keep it up.

Horrendous quality of meet all just pure fat and grissle the lady who served it clearly thought it was acceptable we had to just eat vegetables as all the meat was scrap

Lovely pub, had a carvery which was delicious. Only downside was the peas were hard, other than that it was perfect. Very reasonably priced!

Food portions sizes at the Goose are undersized unless you have a carvery. I asked for extra vegetables as the portion was quite small. The size I had was really for a child.

Lovely place for a bite to eat while the kids loved the pump track 2 minutes away, we enjoyed a cold drink and a break from the sun. Regular carvery £8.50 with the usual beef, gammon, turkey or pork and a selection of veg too.

Would 100% reccomend the golden goose, its a lovley friendly atmosphre, very nicley decorated with a comfortable relaxed setting, the staff are lovley and always on it, and take everything into their stride. The food was absolutley amazingggg the best roast dinner i have ever had! If your someone who enjoys a toby carvey its definetly for you, its 10 times better than a toby, honestly gorgeous. The lady serving ua our meat was very nice too. 10/10 experience will be visiting again! Thankyou

Carvery was absolutely brilliant. Midweek so a choice of four meats (five on Sunday), I had a slice of each. Veg choice equally good, too much to have it all, the parsnips and paprika potatoes were top notch. A really nice touch was a wooden plate under the hot plate, much better than paper napkins. Value: outstanding. £8.50 carvery was a great price but carvery plus crumble was £10.50, too good to miss. Crumble and custard well received. A nice pint of Pedigree on hand pull, excellent helpful and friendly service from the bar staff. I wish I lived nearer.

Brought my 3 children for lunch, my food was served before all the children my autistic son got upset as he sat watching us all eating while jud food not arrived then we had to wait even longer for his milkshake good was nice was arrived but service really bad. Customer service poor no greeting no smiles, no explanations. We sat at an empty table and went up to the bar to order food. I was abruptly told I'm lucky ilno one booked table, so I'm OK to sit there. I was in shock 😲 location, is beautiful, with outside seating and small play area for children. But I never felt welcomed, so I wouldn't return here.

Went for lunch today, not overly busy as it was hot, excellent carvery the best I have had, no wonder it's voted best in the Midlands, good food, good beer what else can you ask for

Visited for a cheeky carvery yesterday. Highly recommend. Fantastic service, very warm welcome and food was tasty and offered excellent value for money. It was a busy Friday night but staff were attentive and there was no wait for food either. We are both veggie so had a nut roast with all the trimmings and it was delicious. Superb mash that tasted just like home. Lots of decent veggie options too if a carvery isn’t your thing. Lovely location near to Arrow Valley and plenty of parking. Our first visit but we will definitely be back. Much better value than Toby Carvery and better food too.

Food area messy, unhygienic cleaning away by food area, and to top it all they weigh your meat!!! never ever Bern to a carvery that does that, will not ever go there again worst carvery

I contacted the pub as I was looking for a place to stay in Redditch overnight in my motorhome. The staff were very helpful and there was room for me to park. I had a few drinks and the steak & ale pie which was very good. Would definitely stay again.

It’s a local carvery pub, the food is ok, extra charges for some items the menu leads you to believe are included. It’s not amazing food or service but it’s a convenient place to meet. I’m not in much rush to visit again not a bad experience but nothing amazing just average.

Really friendly helpful staff good range of food I'm disabled and vegan helped with my order carrying back to table wonderful staff and I think her name was Mia with purple hair so happy and helpful I will come again thank you lovely afternoon Mrs Paulene Worrall

First time visit yesterday for the carvery.. Considering it was a busy Saturday we didn't have to wait long in the queue for the carvery. Tried a mix of all the meats which were all cooked perfectly, and also the veg too. (Please inform the chef and kitchen staff)👍 Bar staff were also friendly and didn't mind answering any questions I had. Will visit again when next in the area.

Awful on fathers day cold sausage cold bacon fatty is an understatement. Totally let yourselves down.

I visited the Goose with my sister for a catchup over dinner arriving just after 7. It appears alot of people had already eaten and were leaving and many tables needed clearing. The food was good, but the bar service was really slow, as too few staff working were trying to do the best they could serve and clear tables.

A good carvery 😁 Not sure about weighing the slices of meat onto the plates, but understand the need to make sure the product is cost effective. Just feels a little bit mean, or is that only me...?? Food service was good Bar service was better Food on the hotplate/servery was appetising and fresh, plentiful without waiting in over the top quantities. Recently moved around the area. Second time having a luscious meal. Veg is cooked to perfection. Yorkshire pudding tasted amazing. So fresh and home made no ready made stuff. Roast potatoes.... Well, can't fault them. Don't get me started on the paprika ones nom nom.. The chef who works so hard, she's an asset to Golden goose her people's skills it out of this world. Second time eating & rememberd our previous visit we are renovating our house and asked how it's going? How many people come for food, she remembers her customers. Golden Goose is so privileged to have such a good chef! Does 2 in 1. Service/people's skills we remember for the good. Couldnt fault this place for food/chef 10++++

Ordered a breakfast today from uber eats it was the best breakfast I have had in a long time the fried bread was spot on delicious poached eggs never had poached eggs like these love them. Large portion breakfast was very hot. 2 bacon, 2 poached eggs (you can have fried or scrambled eggs) , 2 Langford sausage, 2 hasbrowns, mushrooms, beans, plum tomatoes, toast or bread and fried bread every part of the breakfast was amazing and not greasy at all bacon was nice and thick and sausages tasted amazing. Thanks will be ordering again.

My wife and I eat there every Sunday it's our favourite carvery,all the staff are friendly and helpful and always do their best to make your experience a good one,being disabled I like to have a table near to the toilet and door and Aron on the reception always goes out of his way to give me the same table and Mya one of the servers is always there to carry my plate for me ! It's a cosy setting with genuine customer service!!!

I've been a few times now, and it's just lovely. The food is excellent and fresh. The team like to help and offer lovely service.

The youngish guy in glasses that is always there should really think about a non customer service based job. Jeez, every time we go we feel like we've offended him by walking in the door. He looks like he's ready to start on someone at any minute, ive never met someone so stand-off-ish! He's always the same though, don't think he likes his job much! The food here is lovely, plenty of choice and the staff are completely let down by the misery that is always there (Aaron or something like that). Everyone else is so kind and couldn't do enough for you. Only reason this isn't a five star review is down to this one member of staff.

Got 5 roast takeaways for a family get together, great portions of meat and a fantastic selection of veg. Really good value! Sian was fantastic in serving us in particular. Will come again for a sit down meal.

I’ve been going here since it first ever opened and seen changed off management and the food is way better quality, staff are kind, caring and friendly. It has lovely carvery I always order on Uber eats but I also do go inside. If you do go inside I’d suggest to book as it does get very busy including in the week day. I haven’t had a breakfast in awhile but they was always banging! Puddings are also very delicious! Also loads parking too. And two disabled bays right next to the front door!

A seriously hard-working and helpful team running this place. I used to frequently visit this restaurant since it had some of Redditch's best and most honest carvery meals. When I arrived here at 11:35 today, breakfast had already ended, but the manager and the staff were still very kind and delighted to feed the three of us. The sausages were a little burnt, which is typical in restaurants these days, but other than that, the breakfast was of good quality and good portions. I noticed a lengthy queue of people waiting for Sunday lunch at 12, which suggests that this restaurant is well-liked in the community. If you are driving, there is lots of parking available and the restaurant is rather comfortable inside. Nice outside spaces when the weather is good.

Great independent carvery restaurant! The dauphine potatoes are incredible and everything is very fresh.

The carvery was out of this world. Best one I’ve had in many years. Served by lovely, friendly staff and the place looked lovely. Definitely going back and will make sure I leave room for dessert next time. Superb value for money and beautiful food.

Love eating in here. Lovely food . Really delicious But the staff ... ehh... one time we order a dessert and been told to leave in about 5min as they need the table .. Next to us was about 5 tables free which they could use . The guy in glasses (I think he is a floor supervisor) is usually unfriendly . We always have feeling like we are not welcome and that we just waisting the time and space ... few times my dessert was mixed up but I don't complain about the ice cream flavour been mixed up as I love them all ... but still it's something to look at I guess
