My wife and I live close to this venue but in the two years plus that we have lived here, we had not been to this establishment. My wife booked afternoon tea as a ‘special occasion’ as it was our anniversary. The afternoon didn’t start too well as there was no sign of our reservation. Although we had an email confirming the date, it wasn’t in the “Kettle’s” diary. Well it was, but for the following week. We got the impression that this was our fault. We agree that the views are very good and the staff polite but young and not that efficient, certainly not experienced To be direct, a flask and a pack of sandwiches is as good as an alternative as you can see as much of the views if you walk up one of the hills. It is with some regret that my review is honest and offers some direction in terms of improving what is on offer. 1. The whole building is ‘tired’; rather grubby and in need of a complete refurbishment. The outside seating needs completely redoing and the windows definitely need some attention. 2. The ‘tea’ (as in drink) was excellent - hot and tasty although £4 for a teabag and hot water if bought individually seems excessive to me) 3. The food, whilst fresh consisted of 3 small finger sandwiches - well filled but nevertheless small (equivalent to less than a full round of sandwiches), 3 extremely small slivers of cake - very sweet and quite artificial tasting, it did not amount to a whole slice and 1 small fruit scone with jam and decent cream. All for the bargain price of £22.00 each. To put this in perspective, that is: Pot of tea (c2 cups); 2/3rds of a round of sandwiches; half a decent slice of cake; a small scone with cream and jam. This is not a case of affordability but a case of value for money. And this certainly wasn’t. We were not given a choice of bread type or of sandwich fillings or what cakes were on offer. We don’t have any allergy issues but do have likes and dislikes of what sandwich fillings we like. One might argue that this is the price that you pay to eat and drink here and yes, you do have a choice to take it or leave it but at these prices, I’d expect 4 star service and food but sadly, this is just a cafe and I guess they can get away with charging what they like as people will use it. Given that we could have chosen other venues such as The Abbey Hotel, Cottage in the Woods which offer such ‘teas’, this was disappointing to say the least. Sometimes, profit is more important than quality and quantity. Sadly, I don’t see the latter being the priority here. Overall, my wife regretted booking this venue and we will not be rushing back.

We arrived at 3.45, the staff said if we ordered quickly they were happy to serve us. We ordered our tea and scones, they came very quickly. Fair enough 10 mins later, the waiter told us that they closed at 4, so would be starting to clear the table, fair enough....BUT then, he bought the bill, we were still eating, but our jaws dropped open, when we had put the money on the plate, and suddenly a member of staff , came to collect. She said is this extra money for a tip, we said yes. I think it was very greedy of them to serve us this kate in the day, only to be rushed!! Never again, over rated.

Very slow service. Vegan jacket potato with beans and cheese meal was awful. The potato was cooked to oblivion, looked days old, I could not cut through it with my knife and it tasted stale. The beans were cold. The salad was just about adequate.

I have recently been twice with different people. Both times with someone ordering jacket potatoes. Sadly both times the potatoes were barely warm. Not anywhere near hot enough to melt the cheese and butter. It’s a shame. The view is spectacular. I’ll still go but maybe just for a coffee or tea.

We often walk here for breakfast and we are always greeted with a friendly welcome and superb service. Love a table by the window and looking at the view. So many places focus on lots of decent coffee options but really neglect tea drinkers. Proper looseleaf Fortnum & Mason tea here in a decent sized (full) pot. Fantastic full English and the best poached eggs - every time!

Disappointed. My friend and I both ordered the toasted tea cake and were both disappointed especially for the price . Unfortunately they were thin flat dry and hard going , although I did eat mine my friend sent hers back and it did get replaced with a scone but her opinion was that was also dry. When we asked the server if they were fresh tea cakes the reply was : fresh out the freezer this morning! So no . Also it’s unfortunate they do not heat the eating area we were cold and noticed other customers didn’t remove their coats, not ideal for hill walkers that are possibly already cold and wet! As this place is bang on the side by f the hills .

Lovely quirky cafe/restaurant with beautiful views and friendly service. The welcome is great, the staff are attentive and the atmosphere is always good and the clientele are usually “genuine” people with lots of regular visitors. Food and drink is of high quality and good value for money. Even the resident dog is attentive and friendly. Can’t understand some of the negative comments - they probably say more about the attitude of the reviewer than the actual experience (and are probably written by people you wouldn’t want to be sat next to anyway!)

Took my elderly mum for afternoon tea and was very disappointed. Poor value for money. (I’ve had better cheaper ones) two lots of cheese sandwiches in the selection (not finger sandwiches as advertised) the scone came with its cream and jam still in the packaging. The cakes were a complete disappointment, to me, tasted no better than a cash and carry selection. The staff were friendly but I’m afraid we won’t be going back.

On recommendation, whilst in the area, for the first time we visited The Kettle Sings, yesterday. We couldn't have chosen a better day, for the weather & views were spectacular. There is an indoor conservatory, panoramic views. We chose to sit on the outdoor side terrace, in the shade, with equally spectacular views. Staff were all very pleasant and attentive. I spied the gloriously gorgeous looking cake selection, had planned to have a piece, but, following Ham, Eggs & Chips, there was no room left. I am regularly disappointed with coffee these days as I am generally disappointed with taste & heat, but, here, at The Kettle Sings, I ordered a large Latte, it turned out to be the best coffee that I have had in a very long time. My other half had an All Day Breakfast & he couldn't fit another thing in either. COVID safe environment. If you have time when passing, don't pass, call in & take in the views, the coffee & taste the cake for me! Will visit regularly

What a fab little find! We usually head to the hotel up the road, but a fellow walker directed us down on a blustery, wet day when we were crazy enough to walk the hills! Friendly greeting and it was warm and toasty inside. Admittedly, it doesn't look much from the outside, but inside its bright and vibrant with a breathtakingly beautiful view. We chose to sit against the window to take in the views. The menus arrived and we were spoilt for choice and it was great to see veggie & vegan options, well done guys we'll be back with our vegan friends! We chose the all day breakfast (winner!) and a sweet potato chilli even though we already had our eye on the cakes haha! Food was piping hot and really tasty, top marks to the chef! Just about found room for a icky, sticky rocky road and a scone, equally as good. We even got a visit from the resident cat, informed by one of the girls on duty that he was recently adopted. Friendly fluff ball who just made the place feel even more homely! We'll definitely be back now we know this gem is here. Top marks!

We were taken to this Tea Room by friends on our visit to Malvern. Whilst the views may be lovely and they allow dogs inside These are the only plus side for this Tearoom. I have never known a tearoom only have a choice of three cakes plus Chocolate Brownies which were referred to as deserts. However this was minor compared to the attitude of one if the staff whom l can only assume was the Manager. There were a few people including us in the Tearoom when the “Manager” in a very aggressive tone told us that we had all been there twenty minutes after Closing time and we should leave. Others said they could also hear her sighing a lot before her outburst. On leaving my husband asked to use the toilet. she said no as it had been cleaned and they were closed. She kept shouting It Says closed at 4pm on the door and you should have read that before you came in whereupon she then slammed the door on our friends face.

We had the Mackerel Caesar Salad at a pricey £12 +, which was incredibly disappointing; one piece of shop bought mackerel and some bagged leave,s no skill or finesse to warrant the restaurant price. We also had the coronation chicken jacket potato, again for the price was very poor. The coronation chicken was most definitely not coronation chicken as you'd expect; some cheap diced chicken in some mayo with a bit of curry powder. Avoid if possible!

Visited here as a child on holiday and it hasn't changed a lot! Doesn't look like much from the outside but the area downstairs at the back is lovely with amazing views, there are steps down to this but area was relaxed and had a small kiosk on that level where they served just a small selection of drinks and ice cream, anything else you needed to order from main restaurant area inside upstairs.

Took my daughters for lunch today-- since last visit a couple of years back the prices have shot up and food quality dropped.

Food very overpriced. My husband had a mackerel salad, which consisted of packet of salad, boiled new potatoes and one peppered mackerel plonked on top without dressing. This cost us £13.95. I had a curry priced up at £11.95, which was absolutly tasteless. Honestly guys, if you want to charge restaurant prices, try employing a chef! On a previous occasion had a paella priced up at over £11.00, which consisted of a portion of something suspiciously similar to the packet of paella mix offered by Lidl heated up. The patrons clearly rely on the views, which I have to say are stunning. Personally, I would just go for the cream teas and drinks and eat elsewhere.

Always a favourite of my mother for cream tea with it's stunning views over Herefordshire. We went for lunch with the family and it was a big mistake poor menu selection and rather expensive.. My wife and I ordered the Jacket potatoes with Coronation Chicken. When it arrived it was obvious that the potatoes had been warmed up from the previous day, the chicken was also very poor. We sent them back and ordered a sandwich each but no real apology was offered until paying the bill. To their credit we were not charged for the potatoes or replacement sandwiches. My daughter had the vegetarian Mushroom burger, heavily priced at £11.95 and was relatively satisfied in spite of the price. We will go back but only for cream tea. Parking is inadequate and bays need to be marked to prevent poor parking. Unfortunately, not their fault, the toilets went out of order while there and we had to retreat speedily to a nearby local hotel after eating.

This hidden away Malvern Hills gem is perfect for coffee and cake or a light lunch whilst sitting either on the terrace or in the orangery, looking out over the Herefordshire landscape. What a great little escape for anyone with a sweet tooth!

We called in at the Kettle Sings on a Sunday afternoon. We were surprised to find plenty of spare tables. We had assumed we should need to have made a reservation. There seemed to have been no special Sunday roasts. We had sandwiches. They were OK, but the bread was not particularly special, or fresh. Maybe Sunday is not the best time to visit this place. The service was OK. The place did not quite live up to our memories of having visited 10 or more years ago, but the views don’t change. The place can be recommended for those, if not for the food.

We came to The Kettle Sings after all three coffee shops, we where going to visit in Malvern were closed, their loss! It was a scenic drive up the the hill to the tearoom and you are rewarded with a stunning view. Being a wet Monday lunch time, luckily for us, it was quite and we managed to procure a table by the window with a stunning view over the hillside. We ordered a breakfast, mushroom burger, coffee and chai tea (which brought me back to our recent visit to India) It all arrived promptly and was served hot, you cannot go wrong with me if the food is served hot! We would throughly recommend this tearoom and is well worth the drive if you are in the area and you will be rewarded with great food, good service and spectacular views.

So chuffed that I found this place while browsing google maps! We were originally going to eat at the Malvern Hill Hotel but decided to come away from the hustle and the bustle and the over priced menu to site outside in the glorious sunshine with absolutely spectacular views!

Headed to Malvern to find the bluebells and we weren’t disappointed. I’ve always wanted to try the kettle sings so this was an ideal opportunity. It was late morning so we decided to eat so we didn’t have to worry about lunch.

Came across the Tea room by accident. We were following a walk and saw the tea room mentioned on the on line map. After this visit we went back 2 days later. The actual building inside and outside is a great layout and design. You can sit in the conservatory or outside on the decking and take in the fabulous views. On the first visit we had a main meal. This was very tasty and although a tad expensive there was plenty and we couldn't fit a dessert in! Second visit was just tea and cake. On both occasions the staff were very friendly and attentive. We would go back if we were in the area again

The "Kettle" appears here to be still suffering from the justifiably poor reviews from the appalling previous owner who had no idea of customer service or indeed basic hygiene.

Good place for a bite before (or after) a walk on the hills. The food is a tad expensive for what it is. Our one gripe (other than the cold draught blowing through the conservatory wall on our legs, but it was an exceptionally windy day) was the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. Baked potato or curry. Thats your lot. Not really good enough in this day and age. That said the baked potato was very good.

Stunning views and very busy. Scone was straight from the microwave and so hot the raisins in it were fizzing. Chocolate cake was good and side of ice cream made it even better. Pricey at £12 odd for a small coffee and a tea I thought.

We stayed here overnight and booked the restaurant for our evening meal. Lovely staff, in a lovely surrounding. It’s a shame it was dark so we couldn’t see the views. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts and we managed to enjoy all three. In the morning, the breakfast menu was plentiful and the sausage and bacon from a local butcher were very tasty.

England's Gate is a traditional British Pub and should be proud that it lives up such expectations. The food and the service was excellent. My wife had a steak which was very good. I had the steak and ale pie which was exceptional (especially for those who wish to have some comfort food occasionally . Pity more is not made of the 'pie of the day' as it was obviously hand crafted and had a very generous filling of tender and tasty steak. I was a little unsure of what I would get when ordering as the description and lead me to believe it might be 'brought in'. Top marks when it arrived and looked and tasted great. This (and perhaps other great items on the menu) should be heralded as a special dish (as it clearly was) . Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to go back and sample the food and atmosphere again. Super place, well above average food.
