We were staying in a hotel 10mins away from this beautiful pub. Super duper dog friendly and amazing lovely warm staff! Food absolutely incredible and tasty. Honestly couldn’t fault this pub and would highly recommend if in the area! One of the nicest pubs I’ve been to in a while, they’re doing everything right!

Absolutamente comida abismal.

If you want a welcome, a hello, or just a friendly hi…..please don’t bother! I have given this place so many chances but sadly each time, save for an occasional staff member who smiles and welcomes you, you get greeted with a scowl, distain or a sneer and ZERO customer focused service. The ‘chap’ who seems to be the owner and runs the kitchen, is not beyond barking at you that an item is not available, or, on one occasion when my partner had asked for no butter in his takeaway sandwich, yet it was applied anyway, when this was pointed out to the staff, the ‘chap’ came out of the kitchen and informed my partner that ‘as this sandwich had already been paid for, you best purchase another!!’ Manners? Customer focused? Customer considerate? Maybe there is a need to understand that it is the ‘customers’ that keep the establishment going, NOT the other way around. Blue Bean Cafe, you are a customer facing service that needs ‘said’ customers.. a little investment in a customer service course may serve you well? Or perhaps just good old manners rather a serving of annoyance to your customers? 🤔

I've written a separate review to the hotel itself as I feel the restaurant deserves high praise indeed. We (a group of 6 women) were served a 3 course lunch on Sunday as part of our spa and leisure break. Each of us decided to try the roasted tomato soup to start, and it was superb. Possibly.the tastiest soup I've ever had, served with a generous basket of bread for the table. For mains, we had 4 beef dinners, 1 salmon with dill potatoes and 1 chicken. All were fantastic, and plates were cleared. Desserts were mostly chocolate and Bailey's mousse with a berry compote, again heavenly and hard to fault. We also ordered 2 bottles of prosseco, which was served chilled and with a smile. Wait staff were professional and friendly, smartly dressed and all around wonderful. Well done on serving an excellent meal. Thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

A homespun, friendly little cafe with a good lunch selection and teas, either at the cosy tables squeezed into the inside space or - better still, if the weather's up to it - in the well-kept garden. The food is of the jacket potato, sandwich, soup and quiche variety, mainly home-made as part of the Quakers' community involvement. It's around £3 for soup and a scone, or about £6 for quiche and salad. We had the home-made cake and flapjacks, which were very good. It's an interesting building with modest lunch and tea offerings and a pleasant, personal touch. They'd run out of Earl Grey tea, but the lemonade was nice!
