Bensons in Stratford-on-Avon

Traditional scone and good coffee for breakfast. Can't ask for more. Some friendly locals with their dogs. A nice location, too.

Very good meal deal inc drink for under £14 each. Pleasant and effective staff. Good quality ingredients in the ploughman’s sandwich.

We had late lunch here last weekend. We decided to order lunch deal, sandwich,chips and a drink for £13.50 each. Although a bit on the expensive side, I think the location plays a big part in as it is located just opposite Shakespeare's Birthplace. The food was delivered quickly. The service was fantastic. Plenty of outside seating available too.

We sat down to get a drink at Bensons today, after 10 minutes waiting we hadn’t been served despite there being a waitress standing close by chatting to friends. We decided to go inside to order but was told someone would come out to us to take our order - 10 mins later still no service and the waitress nearby was still chatting to friends and not taking orders. We decided to leave and go to the cafe next door. Terrible customer service. Would not go back again.

Spent the weekend at an Air B&B in Stratford and wanted somewhere to go for a cooked breakfast. A quick google search pointed us in the direction of Bensons and it was just what we were looking for. We liked it so much that we went there for breakfast on both days of our weekend stay! Good selection, friendly service, clean, outside seating opposite Shakesphere's birth place (although we chose to sit inside). Highly recommend.

It's always risky having a breakfast, if you are a fussy couple who love their rare chance brekkies when on a weekend away. We lucked out with this one, with no prior knowledge we just popped in to find super staff, and friendly chatty customers. We both had breakfasts of different sizes. And for us both they were up there with one of those 'best breakfasts ever' just lovely. We will be back when next in the incredible Stratford. [amazing] Gonk and Moody.

This Tea room is great is all i can say, i came here each wednesday of december from 9am - 11am they made me and my family at home and treated us with the absolute best service i can imgine.

Lovely location but have to say very crowded and not enough staff so service also not great. I ordered a sausage and egg sandwich, which I sent back as to me it didn't look cooked... Informed it was, as temperature was to specification and asked if I wanted something else or what I originally ordered. I said I would try it, imagine my surprise when I got the sandwich I ordered (5 minutes had gone by), should have made another one!! My friend ordered bacon and egg sandwich and she wasn't very impressed as bacon was very fatty. We also had a cake, which was ok. Rather expensive for what we got. Next day I will admit that I wasn't very well, make of that what you will ☹️

Visited yesterday (on my 50th!) late lunchtime and the place was only a quarter full. Tables hadn’t been cleared and it was obvious they are understaffed. Lovely, friendly staff they just need more! Only had toasted tea cake, Baileys hot chocolate along with my free mince pie. Will visit again as it is a fab little cafe so really hope they get more stuff soon. But toilets need a good scrub and perhaps gloves should be worn when making the food.

Fantastic cafe, cozy, traditional, lots of character. Both had cooked breakfast, very tasty, just what was needed on a very cold December morning. Very friendly, will definitely be back.

Probably the best fry up I’ve had in years. We both had the large breakfast and I can honestly say, it’s cooked fresh and was not greasy and I can’t remember a better fry up. My wife ate all of hers which she never does. The staff were all amazing too which always helps. We told the lady how good it was and she wasn’t surprised but appreciated our comments. Hi just back from a short stay in Stratford-upon-Avon just across the road from Shakespeare’s birthplace it’s a lovely little Caffe Come restaurant called Bensons it is a wonderful little place and they do the best breakfast ever have been there quite a few times when we have stayed this time at the standard breakfast for £7.50 it was absolutely lovely sausage and bacon with perfect and the expert decline you must go there one day I can guarantee it is good they also do some very great lunches and evening meals

I cannot fault this breakfast every part was delicious, Food came out quick and the staff were very attentive, lovely location and very reasonably priced I shall return.

Great location. Drinks were good had a pint and a flat white but food was very poor. See pic attached bad burger and very bad sandwich When we complained and didn’t eat it we were given a pint off the bill but that wasn’t the issue it was the food we didn’t eat

went in for coffee and ordered a bacon sandwich and a sausage sandwich the bread was awful bacon was all fat and the sausage was tough if you are serving hot food in bread it should be good quality for the money that was charged not a place i would go again

On a beautiful hot day we at last arrived for a birthday treat. I had bought vouchers ( £10 each) We had a table reserved in the shade but a lot of people push past, hitting you with bags as they walk up the pavement!!! We had prompt service, lovely glass of prosecco and water. The afternoon tea came, we had chosen our sandwiches, mine, ham and brie were very tasty, real ham and lots of brie with mustard. The scones looked lovely but we're a bit solid, so I asked for them to be warmed, much better, lots of jam and clotted cream. The cakes, luckily were very small, hubby could have ate mine too. The coffee and tea were excellent. I thought the afternoon tea was very good value for money.

Nice looking place but could have been a lot cleaner. Good menu with plenty of choice at a reasonable price. The food was very nice, however the presentation let them down, especially the eggs as they were burnt underneath.

Lovely cafe in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Beautiful day so able to sit outside. First class service and delicious simple ham salad. Just what I wanted. My dog loved it too as he got a treat!

Not much to add to the title. Almost opposite Shakespeares birthplace and yet price was pretty reasonable. We were served promptly by friendly staff.

So nice to have the basics done well. Should be easy to find but often not so. Was heading elsewhere but on finding it shut on Tuesday I carried on down the road and this place looked just the job. Very friendly staff and I just went for Bacon/Eggs/Toast and tea. All done well, lovely bacon, non greasy fried eggs, good toast with plenty of butter provided and a pot of loose leaf tea. All spot on, well done everybody.

We went for cake, and came back for lunch! It was so good and so brilliantly well catered to gluten free. I enjoyed a GF cream tea and my husband had chocolate fudge cake. It had a lovely view from the window seats, friendly but not pushy staff, great service, delicious food, clean loos... excellent. We liked it so much that we returned for lunch - I had a ham salad which was huge and delicious with thick cut ham generously served. I liked the dressing so much that I mentioned it to the staff, and the chef popped up to tell me how to make it! A memorable experience.

Popped into Bensons for a quick afternoon coffee and a cake on my first day in Stratford. Realised I had happened on a lovely cafe with delicious cakes and a very decent cup of coffee. I enjoyed it so much that I went back there the next day for breakfast, again they came up trumps. If you are looking for good food and drink at very reasonable prices, then look no further. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and the room itself is clean and attractive. There is even a nice space outside for open air dining. 100% recommend. Enjoy!😋
