Awful roast. Potatoes were obviously frozen, so hard. Veg consisted of half a carrot and cabbage. Worst roast I've ever had.

Great stay and overall experience! We stayed for 2 nights with our dog. The room was superb, comfy bed, clean and welcoming, fab bathroom with lots of lovely hand and body wash included. The Bell is super dog friendly, with a dog bed provided in the room. At dinner we had a dog gift of treats and ball, lovely touch! Breakfast was great, good vegetarian options too! Vegetarian full breakfast was cooked beautifully and I made a couple of changes which was accommodated without any issues. Evening meal choices were really good. All the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Customer experience excellent. We will definitely return!

Our choice of eatery after a national Photographic Competition every July. Booked, but arrived early as competition finished early. No problem. A most enjoyable meal. 2 had Chicken Ham and Leek Pie with Mash and Garden Peas. Excellent. 2 had the Roast and 1 a Burger. Desserts included Cheesecake, Chocolate Brownie, Ice Cream. Four opted for Macchiato to close. Two seasoned Coffee fiends, two newbies. "The Best Macciato in Warwickshire"? Well perhaps, certainly the finest I have had in England... Hayling Seagoon

Just returned from a 2 night stay at The Bell. We had booked this as a last minute break. From arrival until check out. Our experience was nothing short of spectacular. All staff are attentive without being overbearing. The facilities are first class. All food was of a very high quality and very reasonably priced. Our room was lovely with a very comfy bed, large bathroom and all extras you need I.e. kettle and drinks, iron, hairdryer, TV, fluffy towels. All toiletries were of a high quality as well being Loctaine. Quality place for a quiet relaxing break. We will definitely return for another stay.

Staying nearby we went to the Bell for an evening meal. We were not disappointed: it was delicious. I had lamb shoulder and it was cooked to perfection. The puddings were also scummy. They cater for allergens and tweaked my meal to suit mine. The restaurant seemed disabled friendly but I don't think the rooms are. Best to check before booking/visiting. Didn't use the lavatory so I can't comment on them but I have no reason to believe they would be anything but clean and well maintained. If we lived in the area we would definitely go there again and I would recommend it, unreservedly.

So today being the 100th birthday of my late uncle we decided to commemorate the occasion by going out for lunch. There was my aunt, aged nearly 101, myself and 2 close friends. We have been many times before and always had a lovely time. Today could not have been better tbh. We arrived separately but were all very warmly welcomed as we entered and shown to our seat in a lovely position in the restaurant. Our server was I believe Sandra, who was so kind, patient and lovely. We didn't have to wait anytime for the drinks which left enough time for us to peruse the wonderful menu. The food arrived just on time, not too quickly at all, and we all had dish envy for each other's dishes. My aunt had the Lashford sausage and mash with cabbage and my goodness, there were three huge sausages and she had to take one home, but she absolutely loved every mouth full. I had the shoulder of lamb with crushed potatoes, carrots, leeks and cabbage. It was beautiful. The lamb literally fell apart on the plate. The jus was stunning and held the whole dish together. I can't wait to have it again !!! My friends both had the quiche with side salad, and they were extremely impressed and reiterated that we need to come to this restaurant much more often. Sadly none of us had room for desserts but they all looked so wonderful. A beautiful restaurant, fabulous staff with amazing food and worth every penny. Thank you for making a difficult day so lovely.

pubs tend to miss a lot with me as a vegetarian who just doesn't fancy eating another veggie burger so you can imagine how overjoyed i was to find not only a pub which had large variety of dishes but a LOCAL pub at that! not a chain! even the non-vegetarian dishes sounded pretty good. the price can rack up pretty fast, but the quality of the food is really good. dad impressed the pie was "an actual pie" not "slop with a pastry lid." we were offered friendly and efficient service, not too fast and not too slow. atmosphere was joyous, everyone inside seemed to be enjoying their food and time with eachother (which is always a good sign.) definitely not a place to visit in a rush, you'll want time to soak in the beautiful garden views or enjoy the cosy and warm interior. i loved all the art prints on the wall and the old-timey details (like candles, exposed beam, earthenware inspired crockery.) it's not often the inside of a pub feels welcoming. just to add – i don't think my family has ever ordered dessert from a restaurant before but the prospect of a post-meal ice-cream was too much to resist 🤭 the vegan chocolate one was light, just the right amount of chocolate-y and delicious (also loved the glasses they served it in!)

I have heard many good things about this restaurant and so we went today for my husbands birthday. I was underwhelmed by our food today. We had the roast, and it was pretty average, and considering the food is pricey, you expect it to be excellent. We have 4 kids - 2 had the roast option and 2 the burger option - the burgers were tiny, the chips were great. No salad for the burgers. Puddings across the board were really good and we loved that they all had great vegan and GF options, although the meals didn’t have much variety at all for GF for the kids. The service was also average - our waitress hardly gave us a smile throughout the whole meal. Luckily a server of the food was a bit friendlier. Honestly, we won’t be going back again.

We tend to sit down for our evening meals much earlier these days. Really glad we did because by the time we left, you couldn’t park a car in the car park and this was on a Wednesday. We chose to eat here as the menu appealed. Despite a ‘pre 6pm’ sitting we were told straight away that they did not have any asparagus. Disappointed? A little but the point is they told us before we had even placed an order. Excellent. The service and the meals were of very high standard, the cocktails superb (maybe a touch heavy on the alcohol but really nice) and the desserts superb. Why doesn’t anyone serve spotted dick anymore!! Would strongly recommend this restaurant. We ate really well and enjoyed everything about the place, the bar area, the restaurant, the staff…cannot fault any of it. Well done, this was the best meal of our 4 day stay in the area.

Where to go for lunch after a visit to Compton Verney? The answer for us was to speculate on being able to get a table at Th Bell, Alderminster on the outskirts of Stratford upon Avon. No problem. We were welcome with open arms - asked if we would like a drink from the bar to take in with us and hey presto they even took the drinks for us to the table. We were extremely well looked after by Ann-Marie and there was a great choice. A small curried prawn dish for me and scallops for my wife. Delicious. The seared, flaked salmon for the main course was delicious. The experience was faultless and we will go again before long. This is part of a small chain including The Falcon near Banbury which we had visited before - so knew to expect a high standard of both service and food.

Had a meal in the restaurant part of the pub. Lovely food. I was on a budget holiday so had i the cheapest of meals. Burger £16 Banana waffle £8 Bitter shandy pint £6 Taste was fresh and the portions are reasonable, but nothing exceptional considering the 4 star rating, the place is a little grotty around the edges too. Table carnations water cloudy and not cleaned for a while. Walls with noticable droplet stains could of been easily wiped. Minor overlooked discrepancies. Lady staff very friendly and down to earth. An uncomfortable demeanour from, I'm guessing, the manger (male, distinctive accent). Otherwise it seems a much frequented pub. Good space. Plenty of seating in and out. I would recommend. March 2024

I hadn't been to this pub in many years but when we went there for a meal recently I was very impressed. The ambience is so warm and cosy when you walk in - big candles everywhere make it look great - I hate brightly lit places, I want a romantic, relaxing atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive - almost too good at times, needed to be left alone at points to chat etc without being checked on. The food was just gorgeous, it all looked and tasted great. It was hot and came quite quickly even though they were busy. I really liked the small dessert and coffee idea as a big pud can just make you feel stuffed! Overall we loved it - areas for improvement? It was pretty pricey for a pub and the chap looking after us was very friendly - but boy did he look scruffy! Baggy shirt hanging out and baggy, scruffy jeans. Just wear a decent shirt and nicer jeans/trousers and you create the impression you're making an effort for your customers, who after all are paying a great deal of money to eat here!

We've not been to The Bell for many years and after such a fabulous evening on Saturday I don't know why! The Bell was the perfect location to meet friends halfway and on arrival we were so impressed with the space and ambience. Katherine looked after us so well - almost second guessing everything we needed and pacing the evening to perfection with drinks and meals arriving at just the right time and water refills without even asking. The menu is changed daily and the choice was first class. For starters the chili beef was delicious with strips of sirloin in a light batter - a huge improvement on a Chinese takeaway when you can't see or taste the beef! There was also the choice of this as a main course with salad which a friend had and it was so plentiful. Sea bass was so well cooked - as was the burger and my fish and chips were just as I like it with a fabulous homemade tartar sauce and mushy peas. Pricewise, The Bell is very reasonable for the service and standard of cuisine. I can highly recommend and we will be back very soon and thank you Katherine for outstanding service.

This pub/Restaurant is five star as far as Food, Menu, Service, Decor etc. I have deducted one star due to families with no control over their children, who ruin the atmosphere for other diners. A family last night ( Two women one man two children) the women were engrossed in their phones all night, the children were running around blowing candles out on other tables and the Dad continually shouting at them but they took zero notice. Disgraceful lack of parenting, no engagement with their children whatsoever. A much loved restaurant we regularly visit has a sign up saying ‘ No WIFI here, we pretend it’s 1975 and talk to each other’ It works! These families spoiling a lovely evening out for others should be politely asked to leave. Can’t fault this lovely restaurant otherwise. Beautiful. The menu choices were varied and the food was delicious.

This is my local, have always considered it a place to go for a treat as it was a cut above but lately it’s starting to fade. Portion sizes are shrinking and the prices are increasing - so pay more for less? The atmosphere is still very welcoming, but with the food presentation looking ‘average pub grub’ it’s not a go to any more. Shame, will go again but not for a while, there are better for same/less within range.

I've stayed here before, the rooms have always been great. For £130 per night I'm rather disappointed this time around. I requested to be moved from the 1st room just above the bar because of the noise including flashing toilets. It clearly states on the website that these are luxury sound proof rooms, this is not the case. Got moved to room 4 right by the main road, you can hear every car going by, its not even muffled. The room has stained carpets & walls, I tried to uploads pics but theres no option to do this. The 1st room's set up was lovely, I complained about then got moved to a smaller room. I won't be staying here again, such a shame coz I really liked the Bell.

However at the moment the food is starting to let it down. It is okay but not brilliant for the prices charged. The food no longer tastes homemade about 7/10. i dint stay here but the pub itself is really lovely and run by staff who work very hard. the log fire was lovely the food was really very tasty indeed and the Guinness went down a treat. it is a lovely place to meet, plenty of space for some privacy should you want it and great parking. not sure there is anything more you could ask for.

It really is a fabulous pub with rooms. There is a circular walk you can do from the pub - and they have printouts with directions - the surrounding fields/farms/churches are beautiful and its a very quiet area. Lovely mulled wine to warm up in the pub on return. Our room (superior - room 3) was gorgeous, very pretty, spacious, huge and very comfy bed and luxury bedding. L'occitane products in the bathroom. Very big roll top bath as well as a large shower. Good hot water and pressure. Plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits. If you were there in the summer you could sit out on your little balcony looking out over the pub garden/fields. We ate in the pub for dinner - which was really good - lovely staff and service and the food was excellent, we shared calamari, then confit duck, venison pie and some side of chips, followed up with a delicious white choc and cranberry cheesecake and a very good value bottle of provence rose. The pub was very busy at lunchtime (it was a Thursday) and busy in the evening - with a nice atmosphere. We also had breakfast (included in our Booking.com deal) - great choice and again lovely smiley staff and good service. The full English is the best my husband has had! I had very nice pancakes. It is super close to Stratford upon Avon if you wanted to stay a couple of nights and needed to find more to do (the village of Alderminster is very quiet - though the countryside and walking looks good). We used it as stopover on the way up to Birmingham. This really is a lovely place to stay, I would not hesitate in recommending it.

We stayed at The Bell on Sunday Nov 12th for one night. We had room 2 on the ground floor. It was a lovely double room with a stand alone bath and shower facilities. It was very warm, clean and well furnished. We had our dog with us, and they even provided a large dog bed and a welcome pack for her! Tea and coffee facilities were very good. We enjoyed a tasty Sunday dinner in the pub itself, and breakfast the following morning. The food on offer was varied and the portions more than ample. We had the full English breakfast which was delicious. All in all our stay was very enjoyable and we highly recommend The Bell - especially if your dog is accompanying you.

My favourite place to go when dining out. Service is outstanding, I think our waiter said thank you more than we did Price is considerate for the quality and size of the portions Myself and partner struggled to hear each other at certain points but that was down to our neighbours rather than the establishment

What a fantastic pub! They were so friendly and helpful when I made a mistake with our booking. They made our experience really special for my sister’s 50th birthday and the whole thing exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Fab atmosphere and beautifully decorated. I wish we lived nearer as we’d definitely be back again. Highly recommend and thank you to the great team at the Bell

We walked in and thought the place looked okay. The service was rather slow but when the starters arrived they looked okay. The food was average at best when considering the price. My review would probably have been three stars if we hadn't witnessed a female staff member knuckle deep rooting around her nose with far more enthusiasm than she had showed in greeting us or serving us food. If you must pick your nose either A) do it in private and wash your hands or B) don't work with food.

I came here with a group of friends after a countryside walk. We all ordered different dishes for lunch and we all raved about the food!! Even down to the shortbread that accompanied the tea and the mini crème brûlée. Highly recommend and if I win the lottery I would have this chef as my own private chef 🤣

The pub's own description is spot on - it is a hidden gem. Popped in at random after a visit to Upton House a few miles away. Lovely pub in a beautiful location with a very friendly landlady. The only bad thing is that I live too far away to visit on a busy weekend evening, as it looks like it would have a great atmosphere.

An amazing restaurant in the heart of Stratford! We had the 7 course tasting menu and would definitely come back and try again. One course slightly let it down - we weren't convinced by the combination of lamb & anchovy and the lamb itself was rump so a bit fatty, but I suppose that is personal preference so not a reason to not return. The service was exceptional, could not fault the front of house one bit - very friendly, funny & attentive!

Had a two night stay at this little gem, the rooms are situated in an old listed building but are modern and spacious, the bathroom being huge with tub big enough for two, if you book direct with the hotel you get a wonderful breakfast included in room rate, we also had dinner here, small menu done perfectly and great cocktails, would I stay here again? In a heart beat. Also staff were lovely 10/10 My only suggestion would be to have a topper on bed as it was quite firm, but that’s personal preference.
