We stayed at the 2 mills cottage just over two weeks ago with our little family as we were travelling 4 hours for a little holiday get away and eloping in secret! The cottage is absolutely stunning and so comfortable, ourselves and our children did not want to leave. We had food at the Ley arms on our first evening and it was gorgeous and very filling! The staff were lovely and really helpful too We had such a magical time (and the weather was really on our side!) We cannot wait to come back soon and so glad such a stunning place can be a part of our memories but also somewhere beautiful for us to continue to visit as a special place, thank you! Xx

Stayed here for one nights B&B 12/1 Restaurant was closed for refurb which we knew beforehand Nice welcome, not very many staying so male receptionist did the bar too. Said it was closing early, 7:30, which wasn’t a problem for us as we had lunch at the Bridford Inn, Bridford (the best pub around) with friends. He came and asked if we wanted any more drinks prior to going off duty, which we did, although there was a duty manager on call on site. Room was very clean, bed comfortable and fluffy towels. Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room. Lovely bath and shower, hot water. Breakfast was great, all you can eat, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, ham cheeses and full English and other hot food. The full English was quality, and they had GF bread too. All staff friendly, place was warm despite being 2 degrees outside. Free parking, £15 for the dog but I think £17.50 max if you stayed longer. Was happy with that. Faultless

We visited Powderham Castle and went to the farm shop for some takeaway lunch. We had the best sandwich and bap lunch in such a long time. Excellent, fresh and lots of filling. We had egg mayo in one and tuna mayo in the other, both with salad. Simple ingredients prepared with love and care. We also had coffee and cakes. Well done Powderham Farm shop, keep up the good work. Well worth the visit. Thank you.

Haldon Forest is a great location for walks or cycling (non-cyclists and drivers look out for wayward bike riders) and afterwards for a breakfast or lunch at The Ridge Café. We all wish though that some more of the lunchtime meal offerings were available earlier, at least from 10ish. Would this really be a problem? The staff though are great, very cheerful and keen to help even when they are understaffed at the counter. If you’re planning to visit, just check the internet, maybe under Forestry England, for events, which seem to be on the increase, as it can get very very busy.

Met up with some friends for lunch we were glad to have been able to sit out in the garden as inside was very gloomy and uninviting and hasnt changed in years I ordered a pint of soda water with ice and was totally shocked to be charged £2.30 for it !!! I never get charged in central Exeter or other places for soda water, and when I questioned, it I was told "well we have to pay for it." I had a cheese, onion, and tomato sandwich with granary bread. The cheese had absolutely no flavour, so it was probably the mildest there was and was just like eating pure fat along with whatever spread had been used it definitely wasn't butter ! Bread was ok and a tiny bit of salad and some very strange totilla chips .We asked for some mayonnaise, but even that was really tasteless and obviously a cheap variety The lady serving us was very pleasant and attentive, but sadly, it's definitely not a venue. I will be rushing back anytime soon
