Staff were very tentative and food was soooo tasty, not loads of choice on the menu so what they did have was full of flavour and well presented. So nice to support local and non-chain looking forward to returningā˜ŗļø

Such a well-run, warm and welcoming establishment. Rebecca is accommodating even when it's a busy meal service. And chef Jamie -- all smiles and local good humor -- turns out fresh quality food. (Stayed here for 4 days and ate several meals.) Bonus points: Chaucer mentions the inn in his Canterbury Tales. šŸ™‚

Pie night here surpasses even the big chain pubs a couple of miles away because The White Lion never disappoints with its brilliant pies of which there are several to choose. I had the Deer & Beer that comes with a rich thick gravy on the side ( not like that other chain pub which pours it all over the pastry to ruin it) plus mixed veg of generous proportion ( not a couple of peas and and some carrot thrown in like the chain pub) all beautifully cooked with the cauliflower absolutely perfect. What is more it’s Ā£15 with a beer or a glass of wine etc., included. It is marvelous both product and price.

Came here for my parents anniversary as my dad has coeliac disease. The food was so tasty! The setting is beautiful and the choice on the menu was great. But it’s the staff that make it! They decorated the table for us, which looked fab, and when two of our party were delayed they were really accommodating. All I can say is thank you so much and I’m so glad we chose to come, and recommend the pub to everyone!

Despite have very few staff on the service was excellent and the food, well worth the wait. The best Steak and Kidney pudding I've had in a long time and my companions Fish Pie was, apparently very tasty
