Steak was an absolute winner my partner said! I really enjoyed the sea bass, extremely generous! You cannot miss out on the homemade Kent Gypsy Tart! Wonderful friendly atmosphere, the team could not do enough to help you enjoy the experience. Definitely will be back when I’m in Kent again!

Gorgeous food, relaxed surroundings, smiley waitress, attentive but not overly so. Highly recommend prawn starter,although daughter has the scotch egg,both looked and tasted delicious. I had chicken and mushroom filo, daughter had the lamb. Absolutely stuffed so shared pudding of gypsy tart.

Wonderful meal belly of pork with a crunch crust ,was cooked to perfection .The mustard mash and veg were well yummy . Definitely worth a visit xx

Wha a lovely gem of a place, my wife and I called in for dinner. Nicely located in the village. The restraunt was a warm, welcoming with a cosy & relaxed atmosphere and ambience and some lovely decorative touches. The staff were very attentive, really helpful and polite. The food was very good, great ingredients nice & hot, freshly prepared and good value for money. We enjoyed it and thank you for your friendliness & warm welcome.

I travelled up from Cornwall today, 340 miles, and had a very enjoyable meal in this quite delightful restaurant. The food was excellent, well presented and the staff were very friendly. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Will come again next time I'm in the area.

had my birthday here a few weeks ago and it was amazing! There was 25 of us and they did everything they could to make it a memorable night for me. The staff were friendly and fun. The food was amazing and even with all those people got it out in time and hot. Cannot fault them at all, best fish and chips around!

I've been to The Dairy several times now and it's always so lovely. The lovely, homely decor and the array of choice food wise is just gorgeous. I couldn't decide so I ended up having two starters before my main! A foodie, I was torn between the prawns or the ratatouille so I had both- utterly delicious. The wine flowed and it has a really comfortable vibe and atmosphere. I'm looking forward to going back to try one of the burgers which look completely epic! It's in a really charming area as well which is always a treat too. I look forward to many more brunches, lunches and dinners at The Dairy. x

I hope the owners read this fair review on our experience at their eatery. I have written a prior review from years ago that was glowing so it’s only right to review the latest visit. Having read the latest review from another guest we had a very similar evening. My kids had taken me there for my birthday, it’s not local to us so we have to drive 20 miles to visit. Saturday night at 7pm we were the only table there and no other diners ate there when we left at 8.30pm. Two take away orders came in. The welcome we received was friendly but not as hospitable as the take away customers received. Our waitress was pleasant but the service was very transactionable. I would maybe understand if there was a busy restaurant to attend to but it was only us. I agree with a previous reviewer, mark up on wine is overpriced and the quality doesn’t match. The menu hasn’t changed in years, so you would expect the standard of the dishes to be fine tuned. I ordered the king prawn starter served with fresh brown bread priced at £9. It came out with a slice of brown bread from a packet. The quality of the prawns were lacking and so this starter just didn’t hit the mark. I told the waitress when she collected the plates that I was disappointed that the starter didn’t come with fresh baked bread and for the price it wasn’t acceptable. She said ‘sorry about that’. Nothing else was said. Had she have checked in with us I would’ve told her sooner. I wouldn’t serve my family bread that you have for a sandwich if they were coming to me for dinner. You need to rethink this. My husband had the cod for dinner and the waitress did check in a few minutes after we started to eat, and we said we were happy because my son looked worried that we weren’t enjoying the meal, I would’ve asked to speak to the owner otherwise. The batter of the fish was swimming in grease so my husband ate around it. He did mention it to the waitress, but it was the same response. The pork belly I ordered was lacking in seasoning. Only one of us had dessert, we didn’t want to waste anymore time or money if I’m being honest. The female toilet needs a deep clean, the skirting boards were filthy and carpet in a toilet is very unhygienic let alone one used by public patrons. This restaurant used to deliver great food with a friendly service. I have visited many times because of this. That was not our experience this time. The owner waited until we left to make her presence felt by saying goodbye several times but by then we weren’t interested and mirrored the ignorance we received. There fact that there was no response to our feedback speaks volumes about the care less attitude of the owners.

Let me start by saying that the staff were lovely and attentive, however the place was completely empty bar one table at 1830 on a Saturday, which perhaps should have been our first warning. My wife ordered the fillet steak which somehow managed to be tough and flavourless. Flavour in fillet steak is often not amazing, but to make it tough is very difficult to do unless you are starting with a bad steak. My wife left half of it, and I have never seen her leave a steak in her life. The triple cooked chips were soggy, as were the onion rings. I had the sea bass, which was at least not overcooked. However, there was no crispiness to the skin, which would have been how I would have preferred the fillets of fish to be served. The green beans they were served on were cold and under-seasoned. The fish was served with a herb butter, however it was quite clear that the butter had come straight from the fridge as it was still solid and cold as it was served to me, so by the time it had melted it had taken all the heat out of the fish, making that cold also. The wine was expensive for its quality. We decided to cut our losses and forgo a pudding: again something I have never seen my wife do in a restaurant. Sadly, yet another disappointing restaurant in the Faversham surrounds. I am not sure which restaurant all these people who have left good reviews of this place went to but it certainly wasn't the one we did.

I wasn’t aware this restaurant even existed until a friend and I were trying to find somewhere to meet up on a Sunday evening. I have now been 4 times! The food is delicious and for me, a lovely choice of dishes on the menu. The staff have always been very friendly and each time we have visited, we’ve had a really enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back!

I visited this gorgeous restaurant with family and friends to celebrate a special birthday this evening. The decor, ambiance, great food and friendly and courteous staff, made it a memorable evening. We were seated at a nice round table, there were a selection of round, square and oblong tables depending on size of group. A well stocked bar and the cushioned churns as bar stools was a nice touch. A nice selection of food and a separate menu for children too. Will definitely be returning to sample more off the menu. Will definitely be returning again.

Very lovely and welcoming restaurant! It is not a huge place so you feel well looked after, not in a sea of other people like in some places. You can heat yourself speak and the atmosphere is very nice. The food was fantastic! Highly recommend visiting, we are looking forward to going back and trying other options! We were recommended and now we will pass on the recommendations because it really was lovely food.

Were staying nearby for a weekend for my partners birthday and came here for dinner. The food was delicious and plentiful and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant is spacious and seems popular to families as well as couples. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a lovely meal here while meeting old friends nearby. We had the burgers, lamb, fish and chips (substituted the chips for mash), prawns and scotch eggs/soup to start. The burgers were absolutely perfect, tasty, flavourful and well garnished, and reports from our dinner partners was that the fish was the best they'd had on their visit (don't live in UK). The staff were wonderful. Polite, attentive, friendly, and accommodating, - opening a window for us as it got quite warm. Everything was perfect and It was a lovely experience. I wish we were local to go back! Thank you for a lovely evening :)

Hidden gem! Restaurant looks really nice and cosy. Staff were friendly welcoming and greet all night. We had champagne which was lovely. We had the baked Camembert and fillet steak both were really good. Will definitely be returning .

Visited on a quiet weekday evening for a couples birthday meal. Cute little village Parked right outside. Service was excellent lovely and polite staff genuinely friendly. Food felt very homemade and fresh exactly what we was looking for not chain restaurant feeling at all. Will visit again.

Paul, Julie and their team are impeccable. And that's before trying the food! Make sure you put on your comfy trousers because you won't be able to avoid having three courses once you taste their menu. The steak is my favourite plate but everything is delicious. Their milkshakes are an absolute must and their scotch egg is the best thing since sliced bread! Plentiful good drink options. There's roadside parking just outside and worth the short journey from Canterbury if you're visiting the city.

Had another wonderful meal at The Dairy this weekend. I had the steak as did my husband, and this is one of the only places we can choose the steak and know it will always be good. You do not get, nor do you need a steak knife, the meat is so tender, an ordinary knife cuts through it like butter. The flavour is beautiful and I have medium rare and it is always perfectly cooked, just pink in the middle. The service from Julie the owner, and the other ladies is brilliant. We can't wait to go back again soon.

On a four night break in a nearby village, we visited The Dairy on our 2nd night. We enjoyed it so much, we were back two nights later. The food was excellent, the restaurant is stylish and laid back, and the whole team were so welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the area.

Stumbled across this place by accident, what a fantastic restaurant, would highly recommend it…from a fussy eater, food absolutely fantastic and everything is homemade, the owner was also the chef too and boy you would not be disappointed with his food, best homemade gypsy tart ever on the dessert menu! All hot courses came out steaming! front of house ran by his wife and the waiting staff made you feel very welcome and felt like you are part of a family, definitely will be returning!!

Wow From the moment we stepped in, we had a wonderful experience. It had been beautifully decorated with plenty of nods to the building's previous use as a dairy. The service was brilliant - friendly and attentive without being pushy. The burgers are top notch. Our one regret is that we didn't have room for the delicious looking puddings - we will have to come back and try them next time.

We came to Whitstable for a spontaneous trip and found this restaurant nearby. Great food, fantastic staff and extremely hygienic.

We were very worried about going out after lockdown but when I saw that the dairy was open I knew julie and paul would have all angles covered and they did. Not once did any staff forget themselves the service was perfectly measured, cleaning was ongoing and customers all kept thier distance. The food as always was excellent and piping hot ! Please support this fantastic family run business and have no fears about feeling safe here Julie and her staff will keep you safe .

Just been for dinner at the Dairy in Broughton under Blean for the first night opening since lock down. I would like to say a huge thank you to Julie, Paul and all the staff for such a wonderful meal, although every visit is wonderful.....i would like to say that we felt very safe tonight, the restaurant was spotlessly clean, although it always is.....but, the staff were wearing mask, kept their distance and thoroughly cleaned the tables and the bathrooms on a very regular basis. The tables were actually more than 2 meters apart. I can't say how much Julie and the team made such an effort to make everyone feel safe. Please, do not be afraid to go for a meal or even a drink, you will be more than safe. Support this wonderful restaurant, the staff and our village. Life must go on...Cheers to Julie, Paul and the whole team, hope to see you again very soon.

We would like to share a short story with you. 30 years ago, yesterday , we had our wedding reception with Julie and Paul in this restaurant (which was then called Martins). A fantastic day and a fantastic meal made all the more special with the attention paid by Julie and staff.Fast forward to now and The Dairy was our obvious choice for an anniversary meal. So with lockdown we can’t eat in but have just enjoyed a wonderful takeaway. How many places like this exist? A family run business that has been around for (more than) 30 years and still provides fantastic food and service. Bravo Julie, Paul and family! Thank you very much and here’s to many more enjoyable meals.

We decided to have a fancy ‘date night in’. From the ordering .. to collecting...to serving it , it was made so easy. They were all so nice and friendly and the food was amazing! Fantastically prepared and very nice to have a complimentary bottle of vino. We both actually sat down and ate all 3 fab courses.Thank you to you all for doing delivering in this difficult times. Even in lockdown The Dairy is continuing to serve top quality food (to take away!) - we have just finished a fabulous meal that was really delicious. Thank you Paul and Julie for throwing in the bottle of wine, and for the card and sweets for the children, a really nice touch! Looking forward to the time that we can come back to eat in!

We are local and pop in fairly regularly for meals or just milkshake. We've never had a bad meal here and the service is always excellent.We were really pleased to see that The Dairy were doing takeaway after all restaurants had to close. We got takeout tonight for a Skype family meal. We've had another delicious meal with the usual epic portions...we're stuffed. Lovely touch to include a twist of milk bottles in the bag!Hope the restaurants don't have to stay closed for long but even so, we'll continue to support them from our kitchen (which doesn't have the same atmosphere).

Lovely place and atmosphere but the Sunday roast was average and overpriced. The service was slow and curt. Would go for a drink there but not for a sit down meal.

They were terribly understaffed. I felt very bad for the staff. Food took one hour to arrive and it was cold! I wasn't able to complain about it because nobody was around. I've been before and was much better but really management should have decided to sit fewer people if they couldn't cope. I won't be going again any time soon, what a shame.

Having heard about the food and standards of this restaurant, I put it on my ‘to do list’ for my birthday weekend away. 6 of us turned up without booking for some lunch and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much of an ask, they catered happily for a fussy eater in our group and every dish we had was delicious. We will definitely be returning, hopefully sooner rather than later.

We popped in this lovely establishment yesterday whilst passing through the village. We were greeted by the loveliest staff at lunchtime and were seated immediately. The food was beautiful, we tried a variety of dishes, each one was delicious. My fav being the runny scotch egg. Will definitely be returning. Thanks again

Food was amazing as always, but the service was really slow. We didn’t get our mains until 1 hour 45 mins after arriving. Only complaint on the food was our chicken (roast) was quite dry, but other than that all was delicious

We visited for Sunday Lunch and the kitchen was catering for a menu of 20+ items. We waited at least 30 mins between ordering and eating. The roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese could be much better. I think the team would benefit from using a smaller menu on a Sunday. The macaroni cheese croquettes were amazing. The staff are super friendly and polite. The lady managing the kitchen staff from the restaurant side was very organised and seemed on top of everything. We'll definitely come again, but maybe not for Sunday roast.

Just moved to Dunkirk first visit to The Dairy . Well what can I say truly old fashioned hospitality gem of a find. Hubby had amazing garlic prawns both our steaks cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back.

Visited her for valentines, lovely restaurant and interior. The best calamari we’ve ever had!! And the gypsy tart was delicious. Only thing which tainted my partners meal is that he ordered steak and assumed there would be some type of sauce, when it showed up with no sauce he asked for peppercorn to be told that they can’t make it now and if he wanted it he needed to ask for it when he ordered... but they didn’t offer it when he ordered/there was no mention of it on the menu? Aside from that it was a lovely meal.

Disappointing. Staff are kind and helpful. Food however is not worth the price. My wife had prawns as a starter and they left the digestive system in. Burger was mediocre and chips under cooked even though they're meant to be triple cooked!

The food was middling at best, amongst us we had a roast chicken, pork belly, and burger and the veggie Wellington. The chicken was dry and the pork belly was lacking flavour. Everyones roast potatoes were not cooked enough and the carrots were inconsistent, some nice and cooked well and others rock hard. Total bill for £85... I've had much better for a lot less.

Bit of a disappointing visit to The Old Dairy to be honest. I used to come here a lot but the prices have massively gone up and it's not clear why. The food was fine but there are other places that give you just as good a meal for a more reasonable price. Also, this is a very popular spot for people with young children, so if you don't have any, and you want a peaceful Sunday lunch without toddlers screaming and running around, this is probably not the place for you.

The food is very presented we always go there for special occasions. My partner had the fish and chips which was very generous portion, I had the lamb rump that was cooked as asked medium which tasted superb. We finished off with there superb ice cream with scoops of the numerous choices of flavors

My family, who I was treating to a thank-you meal, were absolutely delighted with my choice of The Old Dairy. They voted unanimously to make this the venue for future family get-togethers.

Went for our wedding anniversary & couldn't have asked for a nicer evening! The food is delicious, local, good portions; a G & T whilst waiting for the food to be cooked & lovely, friendly service. We went to this lovely restaurant and were greeted by Julie, who covers front of house, her husband Paul, he is the chef, also came out for a chat and catch up as we haven't been there since our last anniversary. My wife is now Gluten and dairy intolerant so Julie went through the menu to ensure that she was ok with her choices. I had steak and ale pie and the meat was incredibly tender and tasty. Helen had Seabass which was cooked perfectly. For dessert I had a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding and Paul made a separate pavlova for Helen.

My curry sweet potato had little curry sauce and little taste. My daughters split chicken was tough and inedible. My crumble dessert consisted of big chunks of crumble which would break your teeth - not good.

Cant believe it's been 4 years since we last went to Dairy Bar and Restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were recognised and made to feel very welcome. Our food was excellent (Camembert to share as a starter with home made bread, followed by two of the best fillet steaks we have ever had). Wont be waiting so long before we go back again!

We were staying nearby at Mount Ephrain B&B; and booked a table for a Saturday evening. Staff were friendly and we were offered a good menu with a variety of dishes. The food was very well presented and full of flavour. The main course was filled us up so much that unfortunately there was no room for dessert. Would recommend to anyone looking for good food in pleasant surroundings who is in the area, but would advise to book in advance as very popular.

I love the old dairy but took 30mins after being seated before we were even asked what we would like to drink. Was also seated in a rowdy room with a birthday party. Food was great but presume they must have been understaffed.

I went in with my 6yr old daughter and waited 7mins to be acknowledged,then a lovely young lady came to me and said that the manager said there was no tables available and all tables are fully booked,but I saw that there was like over 10tables that was free, then the young lady got the manager to come to me and the manager was so so rude in front of my daughter and she said that tables was fully booked , I said to her there is 10 tables free how can it be fully booked she could not give an answer so I decided to go on open table and there was loads of bookings and tables free and I booked a table within 5 mins, then I said to the manager there was no need to lie saying that it was all fully booked as I’ve just booked a table. If the manager was having a stressful day she should have not taking it out on me whilst my daughter was with me .The manager was stil so rude and do not know how to give great customer service. As my food came out it was so disgusting and my Yorkshire pudding was burnt and I did not like the the beef aswell. I have all pictures and videos of my food, it was so disgusting. I am absolutely disgusted how the manager treated me and my daughter. I will never recommend this place to eat as long as she is a manager as her customer service skills are very poor. I am so so upset as I wanted to have an lovely evening and an roast with my daughter but the manager made our experience a nightmare, and when. I told her I will leave a bad report she was like she is not bothered. I am sure if she owns that restaurant she will give a lot better service but she don’t and if she don’t like serving people she should not be working there as she is so rude. But the 2 young lady’s was amazing and handled customer a lot better than the manager when in fact it should be the manager that is setting examples. The service was so slow, it took 10 minutes before we was seated for our booking, and the staff were ignoring us. It took an hour for the food to come and another half and hour for the desert. We had to call over the waitress to ask for drinks but in the end needed up going to the bar and serving ourselves anyway! Terrible wouldn’t recommend

Having just moved in up the road we thought we would try The Dairy after hearing excellent things about it, and it didn’t disappoint. There were lots of attentive staff and the food was delicious. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Had dinner at the Dairy for a family meal. Food to die for with 1st class ambience and service. Special mention - the desserts are very memorable, worth trying.

We come to this restaurant from time to time, but never enough considering we live down the road from it. We had a family meal here and their new menu was great. We all had a different course from the main menu and everything was fresh and lovely and very tasty. The huge onion rings are to die for! The lady who runs the place is a lovely person and always very welcoming along with the remainder of the waiting staff too. We will certainly be back again and hopefully won’t leave it as long between visits.

Yes it was really lovely there just think it's a little expensive especially the wine
