On a cold miserable day, I spotted this place and decided on a cup of tea and chips to warm me up if they were selling these. Imagine my surprise, the warm welcome, comfortable environment, a great cuppa with oat milk and the best chips I have tasted in a long time. The toilets were also very clean. The lady who served me even gave me a foil tray to take some chips out with me as I was pressed for time in the end and did not wish to be late for my appointment. If I was ever in that area again this would be a definate stop off for food/drink for me.

We had to preorder our lunch because we were a large group, but two of us were given substitutions without prior warning and without being given a choice to make a different decision. Substitutes were just presented to us without anything being said before we queried it. My meat was rather dry and my desert plate was badly chipped (health hazard). A friend was served desert in a sundae glass without a saucer and without a proper sundae spoon. Given the prices it was, overall, disappointing.

Lovely pub, Thank you for such a lovely meal. They have a full alternative menu for vegetarians/vegans which is huge!! I had lentil and mushroom bolognese and it was delicious. The skin on chips here are the best!! My partner had a beef cheese and bacon burger and upgraded to loaded fries (comes with pulled pork) and they were just awesome!! Have to say though on a par with the awesome food was the awesome service from Gemma, hard working and very attentive. Compliments to the chef. Thankyou very much xxx

It’s wonderful that The Queens Head in Boughton has returned to its former glory after a few years of disappointing offerings. Claire, the new(ish) publican, is obviously passionate about her pub and her latest menu is exceptional - very varied, including vegan options along with the mainstays, superbly cooked and reasonably priced. The garden is looking beautiful too - more evidence of a caring management.

Long but fair comments. Hoping we visited on a poor day as we had so much hope with the positive reviews… It is always challenging to find somewhere to eat between Christmas and New Year, but The Queen’s Head was open so decided to visit for the first time in a few years for a family (birthday) lunch. Drinks - standard Shepherd Neame selection, but both Bear Island and Christmas Ale tasted of pipe cleaning fluid. Couldn’t finish a half pint of either. Food - it is always a worry when there are so many options on the menu. Standard menu, burger menu, specials menu, and “the chef is also doing…”. Must have been 25 options minimum. The burgers that were ordered were bland and tasteless, having run out of “pulled pork (after 25min wait), brioche buns, tomato relish, etc”. Chips/wedges were cold. Salad leaves turning and inedible. Pheasant promised much, but appeared in a large soup/pasta bowl, absolutely dredged in a sickly gravy. Picking through to discover edible meat was a task in itself. Roast potatoes became soggy in the gravy disaster. VERY limited vegetarian options. Vegetarian burger was different to as advertised on the menu and was dry. Service - long wait times for food and for the bill. Bill came incorrect, and when advised, took an age to get rectified. ALSO NOTE: Shepherd Neame gold card is NOT accepted here. Appreciate it can be a challenging time of year, but we pick places to eat based on reviews, so thought it would only be fair to share our experience. Other reviews of The Queen’s Head seem positive….

We hadn't booked for lunch so had a drink whilst they found us a table. Our granddaughter spotted the play area and she was off. Great garden space and the manager has some great ideas for the summer so will be back, Sunday lunch was a choice of 3 meats and a veggie option plus other mains but who passes up the chance of someone else cooking you a roast, certainly not me! Food was great the meats sourced locally as was the veg and enough roast potatoes. Again the staff couldn't have been more helpful and it was just a good day spent with friends and family. The clues were there when we were the only party dining on a Friday night. Menu really limited so we ended up ordering burgers - there were 3 of us but only 1 burger left. Food was completely uninspiring. Even the oven chips and Auntie Bessie onion rings were under cooked. There was very loud and offensive language coming from the bar all night long and the whole place smelt of old, burnt cooking fat. Today I have that sea sick feeling that comes from poorly and probably unhygienically prepared food. Wont be returning. Save yourself a lot of money and have a tastier meal by going to McDonalds.

Popped into the local shop the other week and spotted a poster advertising a firework display on Saturday 4th November at The Queens Head. Ticket price seemed reasonable, £5 with a burger or hot dog also included. My wife rung ahead to confirm what time the firework display would be commencing, she was told 7:pm. Some friends of ours had also purchased tickets and we planned to meet up at The Queens on the night. Me, my wife and our little girl arrived around 6:pm, we planned on having a small drink beforehand. Upon walking through the door we were immediately hit by the lack of atmosphere, we expected the place to be packed out with local residents and familiar faces. Compared to how popular this pub used to be under the previous management, it was absolutely dead! While waiting in the bar area for our friends to arrive, fireworks started sounding outside, we followed a few others out into the garden and realised that the display had already started! We were originally told 7:pm, it was only 6:20! We rung our friends to inform them of the development. Upon their arrival the display was already over so they demanded a refund and left immediately afterwards extremely disgruntled. During the display me and my wife noticed two small children (approximately 8 and 12 years old) behind the so called safety barrier, which in fact was just a roll of orange netting. The children appeared to be passing the fireworks to a man, who I presume was the landlord (short, chubby, bald guy) who was then letting them off within feet of these two children! Both me and my wife were absolutely appalled to say the least. The display itself was passable, not great for the money, was all over within about 25 minuets and was just a few pops and bangs. I'd definitely put my money towards a more professional display next time. Then came the food part of the evening...what an absolute shambles that was. Nobody had a clue what was going on with the food, everyone was in disarray. I asked the guy behind the bar what was happening and he said he didn't know and would have to find out. I mean if you've planned an event at least show a bit of professionalism and put some organisation in place first! To be fair I think the local scouts could have run the event better! Everyone was now surrounding this poor guy behind the bar wanting to order their food. Our order was finally scribbled down on the back of our entry ticket and my name written across the top - professional to the end... I ordered two burgers and a hot dog. A few moments later a child (I'd say around 10 years old) appeared in the bar area carrying two burgers and just shouted my name, I stepped forward as did another guy who clearly had the same name as me! So then there was some confusion about who's order it was. By this point I was extremely fed up and was starting to think that the place was run solely by children! Firstly doing the fireworks, and now serving food from the kitchen! I mean does this place actually employ any real staff any more? We then waited a further 20 minuets for the hot dog to arrive. It later transpired that our order had been split on to two different tickets. Meaning we waited a total of 35 minuets for two burgers and a hot dog! The hot dog sausage was the type you get out of a jar and warm up in a pan of water, plastic looking, not what I consider to be a real sausage, cheap and nasty. The burgers looked like they had been thrown into the palm sized bun and the paper plate was splattered with numerous greasy oil stains. Personally I found this quite off putting as did my wife. At that point the guy who I presumed earlier on was the landlord then appeared, he stumbled past us slurring his words as he went, I don't know about three sheets to the wind, he was whole duvet! We'd seen enough. We didn't see the point in complaining, instead we just left, as did many of the other people. Safe to say we definitely won't be back. Me and my family were regular visitors with the previous management, David and Shelley. I really don't know what has happened to what was once a real gem of a pub. David's events were always busy and well attended, especially by local residents. The standard and presentation of the food was always second to none - without fail. David and his staff, both bar and kitchen, were always warm, welcoming and on hand to help, which made the whole dining experience enjoyable time and time again. It now appears that the staff, if any, have been replaced by children. You're better off saving your money and taking your custom elsewhere...at least the White Horse have staff to serve you!

With the recent change of landlord, this once friendly pub with good food and service has declined greatly. Despite the sandwich board outside advertising great food and atmosphere, my last visit there found the place more or less empty and with a bunch of tosspots standing around the bar talking at the tops of their voices. I gave the new management a chance to get settled in, but it seems unlikely that it will get better anytime soon. When there are alternatives just a little further down the road, it only takes one substandard visit to put me off going again. Shame, it was so good before.

I came in with a few friends, looks like a cute quirky little pub. COMPLETELY WRONG. Staff are lovely and so unappreciated! Took for granted by what I can call the landlady? I'm not sure who she is, blonde pregnant lady, all I can say is that she has no customer service skills and is very rude and blunt to staff and customers, which is creating such a bad atmosphere noone wants that when trying to have a lovely afternoon lunch. Food isn't the best but you can see the staff trying their best with what they've got. House wine? Don't have it so can't understand why it's on the board. Came in before with the previous management and it was a fabulous pub. Atmosphere was lovely and lively. Food, amazing! Feel like the pub isn't getting any better. Underage kids always behind the bar. Unprofessional along with the pregnant lady indulging in quite a few glasses of wine. I give all the luck to this place and hope it gets better as it could be such a great and thriving place.Kind regards

Normally book for a table but that is clearly a thing of the past. There were no other customers and I soon realised why. Menu is a disaster. Burgers burgers and burgers. Most of the menu was not available and the veggie option was virtually non existent. Staff still as nice as ever but what a job they have on their hands. If people are booking tables with the expectation of a full menu then they will be very disappointedThe place needs to up the game and show a little professionalism and class.

Having been down the beach in Kent for the day with the dog . Looked on TripAdvisor for a dog friendly pub in the area. Found this little local pub and was made really welcome by the staff and the landlady . Our dog was given some water and a dog biscuit and we had pub food that was really nice and not a bad price . Beer not to bad even as it's Shepard and neame . Would and will go back very soon .

Was hesitant about trying this pub under the new management as we had been regular visitors to it before it changed hands so it had a lot to live up to.It still very much felt like the pub was finding its feet, lots of things on the menu were not available, the staff seemed on edge and some interactions were rather blunt. When we asked for ketchup with our meal, the reply was 'ooh you'll be lucky'-surely all pubs should stocks ketchup as standard, right! And you nip to a shop if your running low! We were given some,so they must have found it! The food itself I would class as good pub food- it would be unfair to expect it to live up to the standard of the previous management. There was quite a gap between the meals being bought out to us but we were a table of 13. I would like to revisit in a year and see how the pub is doing when they have had longer to settle. I do feel a bit sorry for the new owners as it is such a hard act to follow!

Had a great day out to the queens head boughton! The kids loved the garden, the play area and the bouncy castle is a great touch for keeping the kids entertained. The food was lovely, there was a guest chef for the roast dinner and it was to die for! Would highly recommend to anyway passing that way!

Having been regular customers of the Queens Head under its previous management we tried it out for the first time since the change. It was sadly lacking. The food was dire and the garden resembled something from lord of the flies with our children repeatedly being hurt on the bouncy castle. Such a shame as it really was a gem of a pub. We won't be back.

We were looking for a place to eat and take our dog with us, as we were staying in a B&B. The staff were very friendly, gave water and a treat to our dog and served great food. Loved the catch of the day, good minted peas! As we have a large family it is lovely to find a large table that easily seats everyone in stead of pulling two tables together. We'll definitely be back next holiday!

We tried out the Queens Head under its new management and were disappointed in the change for the worse in atmosphere, menu and value. Maybe it's true through that If we hadn't frequented this pub in the past under the previous management, I'd have felt less critical in comparison.

OMG what has happened to the pub, we have always had our sunday roast at the queens, the food has always been good, but a change of landlord and obviously the chef has resulted in the most horrid sunday lunch i have eaten, well i didn't eat it to be honest, the beef was tough, the veg was either raw or boiled to death, the gravy, you served it with a spoon, by the lump! How can a good chef burn the yorkshire pudds. So sad that a good lunch has gone replaced with such poor standard cooking.

Had a great meal here at the Queens Head… It is a good variety on the menu, and seemed to be the normal pub grub with a bit more flair… Very good food, and reasonable prices and a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Aware that the owners are leaving, possible left already, but they obviously had a good thing here and hope the next owner can keep the standards, or improve on it… Will go back again!

What a lovely pub to eat in, I had a burger and chips, first time ever the chips needed no seasoning, perfect. My friend had the scampi and she commented that the chips were perfectly seasoned. We both had a dessert and they were delicious, queens mess and cheesecake. The service was excellent and I would definitely eat there again.

I went here to eat with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised. There were 8 of us and we were seated in a side room that had attractive beams and wasn't too crowded. The bar was busy and it's clearly a popular place. Our meals were delicious. Everyone enjoyed what they had. The chef even popped out and had a quick chat with us. that was a nice personal touch. It was a reasonably priced, very tasty meal. We will definitely go back. The only tiny criticism was the chairs had no seat cushions and were quite uncomfortable after a while.... but that was a small thing and didn't deter from the delicious meal

Great pub food. Wide variety of dishes, piping hot and tasty. Staff more than helpful. Not the mot salubrious decor but all 8 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and that's hard to achieve. Would definitely go again. Impressed Irish chef came to ask our views on the meal. Happy to reassure him we were impressed.

The outside of the pub belies the good food and ambience inside. Had a very enjoyable lunch with a group of people yesterday - good home cooked food, served piping hot with everyone's food arriving together. Top marks to the chef and staff.

We went for our first, hopefully of many, Sunday lunch of 2017 to the Queens Head. As usual, it was superb! Great starters, duck pancakes and whitebait, followed by succulent melt in the mouth rare roast beef and stuffed chicken, both with roasties and mash, plus all the other trimmings. Put simply, the best Sunday Lunch in the area!! Staff are always pleasant, happy and helpful and the icing on the cake is the visit David the chef/owner pays to every table to make sure your meal has been enjoyed. FABULOUS!!!! Thanks
