The Jenny Wren in Swale

Jenny Wren was a pleasant surprise. Good size and value kids dinners and a wide range of gluten free. Staff were very helpful, especially Kelly, who even offered to clean down the table prior to my eating to ensure no cross contamination. Would highly recommend

They have a great gluten free menu here, went today 1/4/24 my husbands burger was burnt no dressing on my salad and no ice-cream with my dessert so won't be going again.

Great little family pub! The service from Hannah and Jordan is always fantastic. Ash and Mary are always killing it in the kitchen too! Superb pub!

I came in last night for a drink and a lite bite to eat, the atmosphere was great! While at the bar getting my drink I was struggling to decide what I had wanted to eat Kelly the person serving me was extremely helpful giving me recommendations and suggestions, being a fussy eater she helped me to pick good options while letting me know what the items was used in different dishes, I can't praise her enough for being so helpful!

Great service by Lucy helping us to get a table on a very busy lunch and great food prepared by ash and Owen👍.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, lovely food

Use this pub on a daily basis but will now reduce that and look for an alternative, mainly due to the new inadequate and very poor quality wine list coupled with ridiculous price structure.

Nice enough for a week day lunch

The staff is completely unprofessional. All staff ignored us when we came, although we booked the table for my birthday. We felt no welcome in the beggining, no one was interested of us when we sat at the table, plus was no nice service when we were ordering food at the bar. From five meals only three were eatable. The sirloin steak was completely awful, not done and not chewable. Also the cheeseburger was burnt and not tasty at all. Years ago, before you changed that Jenny Wren for pizza and grill place, it was beautiful and family restaurant, with very nice food and beutifull service. It was our favourite place... Now, unfortunately I will not recommend the place to anyone and I will never come back again.

Very disappointed. Took us ages to find the place - the postcode on the website is a house in the middle of a housing estate - the venue is not accessible directly from the main Staplehurst Road which is the address on the website. The correct postcode is ME10 5AB. Not greeted on arrival so not sure whether to wait for a table or just select one. Lady behind the bar told us (with her mouth full) to find a seat and order from the bar. We did so and albeit the service was quite quick. The ‘medium rare’ steak in the baguette was inedible (very tough) and the curry was a very small portion for the price - no naan bread or popadoms so good job we ordered (a few) extra prawns. The gammon, however, was quite tasty but lukewarm chips. All of the puddings were very sweet offerings so we asked for just ice cream, which wasn’t listed on the menu. Very small bowl-type cups of not very hot tea finished a disappointing birthday lunch. The place was not busy but tables were slow to be cleared and weren’t wiped, neither was the high chair at the next table. We were not aware of the daily ‘special offers’ as the menu card for these was not on our table. Won’t be going again for a while.

Family meal for 8, lots of different mains selected and all were well prepared and served promptly. Everybody very happy with the quality and portions, no complaints at all. Draught ale was available and enjoyed. Excellent value and all staff were friendly and welcoming - top marks!

Absolutely terrible they ruined a very special day , a double birthday party for my 70 year old wife and my 5 year old grandson. Poor slow service, Poorly cooked food, having to chase up food , wrong food delivered to table and told us to sort it out at the bar? (I DON'T THINK SO) 6pm sit down , 8 .30 pm left restaurant without our 2 supplied birthday cakes reaching the table and my grandson falling asleep through being bored to tears being kept waiting at the table. The manager was less than apologetic and only interested in refunding money for the PINK well done steaks and was lost for words ( LIKE SORRY) as we left the restaurant with the Birthday cakes in their boxes. I have used your restaurants regularly over the years for socialising and family gatherings (BAD MOVE THIS TIME RESPONSE PLEASE). David Fuller ( valued customer?)

Had a family gathering for my nieces 18th. There was 18 altogether including babies… several had starters which arrived in good time, was hot and tasty! Very good chicken wings… we all had a variety of mains - from burgers to fish and chips… fish was a little dry but the batter was good and so was the chips.. service was exceptional.. I enjoy coming here.. and will return with friends and/or family. Particular love that you serve beavertown and how wheelchairs friendly you are aswell.

Overall very good. Swift and prompt service with a smile. However when we first came in, it was not obvious who the staff were and we ignored the lovely smiles from them as we thought they were Patrons instead. Sorry if they thought we were being rude :)

Lovely well kept pub, service was good,clean, good atmosphere.

Mixed experience: firstly Google maps is giving wrong directions to random residential area instead of actual restaurant! luckily we managed to find it, parking is free and there is small tesco next to it and 24 hours cash machine. Secondly, atmosphere was warm and welcoming and clean inside but the disabled and kids changing loo was quite dirty and unclean unexpectedly there is mould type marks everywhere and leaks next to the toilet and sink.. Staff were friendly and polite but food was served a bit slow and we had to wait with little one quite difficult. Has outdoor slide and little playgrounds and screens inside for play overall 3.5 out of 5 stars for us and family thanks

Visited here first time last week as received a discount voucher and it was so good we came back Thurs for their Steak meal special. Very friendly atmosphere and service is great and no complaints about the price. Place was busy both nights so guess we're not the only ones who feel that way. Highly recommended

We love the Jenny Wren! The atmosphere is lovely, it’s family friendly with 2 screens in the restaurant & the menu has improved a lot! Karen offered some great recommendations. She was very polite and friendly, good value for money also. Thank you!

Staff were friendly, courteous, helpful and happy. The food was lovely and service excellent. All staff were a credit to the Jenny Wren. Will definitely recommend to all friends & family. Really enjoyed our visit!! Will be back in a few weeks.

First time eating here and will be going again. Only downfall was hubbys 4oz steak on the Mixed Grill was chewy otherwise would of given 5 stars for everything

We had a lovely meal at the Jenny Wren it was our first time there. The food was excellent tasty and served quickly. There was things for children to do and a lovely selection of books for the children too. We will definitely be returning

Food is very bland they don't know how to cook a steak or chips the mushrooms looked so small you couldn't even taste them staff are friendly that's the only good thing I can say

Was made to feel very welcome and I have food allergies and the staff were amazing they even brought food out to the table to check that I was OK with certain brands they used. The food was delicious and the was plenty of it. The menu had a good variety and drinks were great to and the price was very good and we had a 30% off voucher that we used as well. The pub was very clean and well looked after. I will definitely be returning . The reason for not going in the last year was due to illness

My family and I have enjoyed this establishment for many years until now (which is a shame) Food is nowhere near as good as it used to be together with the portions being way smaller than previously enjoyed. Went to have a meal last night and ended up returning unfortunately - £13 for a 1/4 of a pizza together with £10 for 10 chicken wings(?!!) is not what I would call value for money. When you consider almost £6 for a pint of lager I don't feel we will be visiting again!! Credit to the manageress, in that she gave us a partial refund upon request - just a shame I feel (that you have to walk with your feet). Owners take note!!!!

Great service by a lovely young lady called Liane very attentive and courteous

Went to the Jenny wren last Sunday afternoon without a booking and the staff member quickly found us a table. The food came in in a timely manner and was very good quality and tasty. We have eaten out at several pubs recently and although the JW was by far the cheapest of them all it was the nicest by far great value for money. The waiting and bar staff were both polite and helpful.

Friendly staff who went above and beyond. My desert didn’t come out with the strawberry’s and when I questioned it they said due to the time of the year they are just not lasting so I said ok but 5 mins later the manager came back with strawberry’s she went and bought from the shop for me.

We have been regular customers of the Jenny Wren for about seven years. Sadly, they seem to have lost their way and we have decided to not go there again. Our reasons are: Firstly, we were sat at a table enjoying ourselves. A scruffy junior manager comes along, plonks down a sign and says that the table is reserved from seven o'clock so we will have to move. There were plenty of other tables he could have reserved so that really annoyed me. They won't be doing that to me again! They can keep their tables. Secondly, their prices. These have increased massively since the pandemic and whilst I acknowledge the inflation in the price of power, a similar outlet closer to our home charges almost £4 less for the same two drinks that we usually have. Thirdly, the uncontrolled children running rampant and uncontrolled around the building. OK, this is primarily the responsibilty of the parents but if management does nothing, couldn't care less breeders will let their kids do what they like, regardless of the comfort of other customers. Finally, the temperature in the building. I understand that management have no control over the air conditioning but that isn't my problem. Recently, despite the very low winter temperatures outside, the air conditioning was blowing really cold air causing me considerable discomfort. It is such a shame because most of the staff are friendly, helpful and work hard.

Gotta say it was much better than I expected. Electric car charging in the car park. A very friendly greeting. We were seated very quickly. You have to order from the bar, but there is a table number on each table. Drinks reasonably priced. The starters came quickly. Nicely presented too. Mains came in good time and really well cooked. All to often pub good can be a bit samey but we found the menu interesting and the food had a good taste. Staff were attentative and went out of thier way to make sure everything was OK. It did get a bit busy so it may be worth making a reservation. Good for families and small groups.

For a Marstons Pub, the lack of draft Ale or any draft was poor. Most pumps were empty, even the newest Draft Ale on tap. The Apple Crumble was lacking in, Crumble.. just oats & such a small portion, swimming under the custard, that meant any crispy topping was soggy by arrival. The bee dripping sauce for the steak, was delicious & a lovely addition. Couldn’t find a specials menu, or one explaining the buffet menus that were on the website. Toilets need an overhaul. Waiting staff are always pleasant & helpful. The male bar staff didn’t really have the same ‘warm welcome’ memo the others clearly had. Shame, it’s a nice family friendly location, just needs a little love.

Long wait for food but restaurant less than half full, food not fully as described in menu & soft drinks & desserts overpriced. I gave 2 stars on atmosphere as has pool table.

It took a long time for the food to arrive. Lasagne came with garlic bread, which was barely toasted and leaving it unedible. Tried to order dessert at 8:20pm and was told the kitchen was closed. Disappointing visit.

Very enjoyed meal for family of three yesterday the roasts was amazing pipping hot & the chicken burger meal was awesome as my son said. First time having a Roast dinner here & we will be back. 5* all round for the Jenny Wren Thank you.

Atmosphere was great, we all had the festive burgers which was gorgeous, the deserts were amazing so overall food was really good except for the starters, sorry guys but the starters were a complete let down. soup was freezing and my bowl was literally half full, also prawn cocktail was terrible. Also the service wasn't good. I know it was very busy but we counted 7 times a member of staff looked at our empty table, looked at the empty dishes and turned away. We were left 35 mins with a table full of used dishes and not once were they cleaned. We had to go up in the end and ask for the table to be cleaned and if we can have our next course. They were very friendly but not great service at all.

The people were nice, friendly and made our stay pleasant. The place was spacious, neat and price was moderate. Had Mad fun and played a game of pool.

Jacqui was a superstar and made our christmas day extra special. We will deffo be booking again for next year.

Came for Christmas lunch and served by the wonderful Jacqui. Great food, everythinf piping hot and tasting lovely - which is hard ro come by as a table of 18 guests. Will be booking again for next year! Only let down was the state of some of the toilets but the staff were doing their best to clear up after gross people lol

It was our works Christmas do and we had a large group. The staff were amazing. They clearly had lots of people to serve but worked tirelessly. Food was lovely and good value. We will no doubt book again for next year.

Everybody at the table had a different meal and all enjoyed them. The atmosphere is good the service timely and the staff very pleasant.

We felt the cleanliness was below standard, food on the floors and table was dirty. Poor service- A few members of staff were not friendly, quite hostile, no eye contact and seemed generally disinterested. The food was not great. Over fried and dry. Not ideal for a family meal. We won’t be going back there.

Took my parents for a meal on a cold and wet day. It was very well heated and it felt lovely to get out of the rain into such a nice and warm place. The menu is your typical pub grub type food, we all ordered a pie which was very tasty, also ordered deserts which were just as nice. Service was good, food was great, standard prices, atmosphere was brilliant, 5 stars.

Decided to take my son out for lunch, his steak was a little over cooked for him but it was all still lovely. The topped fries was 👌 calm and cosy environment. Would come again 😊

Went for a meal last night in the Sittingbourne branch.We were absolutely frozen so was the table next to us.We actually wore our coats ,to be told the heating wasn't working.Meal wasn't that hot either,as well as hot drinks.Gravy was very weak,and both Sausage and mash and apple crumble weren't available. Both of which we had chosen,typical. We were with friends and other than moaning about heating ,we didn't wanna spoil the evening. We were warned by friends ,that it was often hit and miss,but certainly wouldnt rush back again.
