Just like having dinner round at your mum’s! That is if your mum can cook and produce a good old fashioned roast like this. The food was delicious, and the roast potatoes perfect. Quite a feat as the other vegetables are not overcooked either as they often are at carveries. The meat was all moist and tender too. Having eaten plates piled high we really didn’t have room for desert but could not resist the temptation. I had spotted dick and custard .. which was truly scrumptious and my partner had a lemon meringue sundae. It came with birthday candles at my request and the staff all gathered around to very cheerfully sing to him. A BIG THANK YOU. I am pretty sure we will be back Well done too for the high standards of hygiene in the pub, the loos were immaculate and the restaurant spotless The pub has a wonderful family atmosphere and all the staff seemed to go out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

I’ve thought long and hard about writing a review but the experience has niggled me so here goes .. We visited on Father’s Day for the first time and were very much looking forward to our meal as we’d heard such good things but we came away rather annoyed. Due to the roadworks we were running about 20mins late, I called the establishment to advise we were on our way as a courtesy and apologised for our delay to which we were advised was ok. We arrived and were seated to our table but waited 15/20mins after being seated for our drinks order to be taken then waiter another 15mins for them to arrive and even then my elderly grandad had to wait s further 10mins for his hot drink to arrive. The young girl that served us was very polite but completely inexperienced and couldn’t answer any of our questions (we later found out she is usually in the kitchen). I ordered a set menu meal for my grandparents to share as they don’t eat much and we hate wastage. After ordering our food, we were then approached by an older lady (the owners partner?) who told us that due to it being Father’s Day they don’t offer any alternatives to this even though we’d explained this and asked about kids meals/smaller portions at the ordering stage. Now what got my back up was not what this woman was saying, it was how she said it. Patronising and derogatory is an understatement, it was also insinuated that we were ordering a shared meal because we were trying to save money which I was angered and embarrassed by as I was treating my elderly grandparents. In the end she came back and said they could do 2 senior meals like she was doing us a favour (had this been explained at the ordering it would have saved a lot of confusion and annoyance). The food was lovely and the lady on the bar was amazing but until the older lady learns how to treat customers we won’t be back! Such a shame! Ps I am in the industry as is my husband and I’ve never witnessed such unprofessionalism from ‘management’.

Disappointed, ordered takeaway roast dinners for a specific time. Arrived but nothing was ready and was kept waiting and they weren’t bothered. Twenty minutes later the meals were still not ready and the attitude was appalling, to top it off the owner walked out with two takeaway delivery hot bags. She then proceeded to tell me the delay is because they now do deliveries and you won’t get your dinner for the time you ordered it. Totally unacceptable if you place an order for a specific time it should be ready within five minutes of your arrival, prioritising deliveries over people waiting is not on. If I had known that dinners would not be ready and I would be kept waiting as long as I was, I would not have ordered and won’t bother another time. Very poor customer service, would have been zero stars if I could have given that. They should make it clear when they take your order that the food will not be ready for the time ordered and that you should be prepared to wait half and hour at least. Different matter during lockdown they were only too pleased to get your order and have it ready on time, how things have changed now they couldn’t care less.

We sat a bench in the back garden deciding who’s shoes were least muddy to buy the drinks . The land lady flew out and said ‘ oh you let yourselves in did you ‘ then looked at other dog and said’ that needs to be on a lead ‘ No problem for us. Drinks ordered ( now my daughter only ever drinks water ) asked for a tap water , the barmaid politely obliged when the land lady snaps at her ‘ no you only get free water if you are having food , it’s £1 to you ‘ To be fair we bought beer , wine , coke , orange and crisps so weren’t after a free be !!! .... we sat down in the garden to try and enjoy our drinks when the back door to the pub slammed shut . Based on the Trp Advisor reviews we booked a Sunday lunch here for three of us yesterday for 1pm. The restaurant was pretty full and the pub had a nice friendly atmosphere. We queued for the carvery and the first thing we noticed was that the plates were cold- stone cold and not even warm. What a shame. Surely serving hot carvery food requires hot plates? There was a good choice, three meats and plenty of veg and the food was all cooked very well but sadly soon got cold on cold plates. Apart from that it was a good honest Sunday roast.

Went today with my daughter. We hadn't booked but the friendly lady behind the bar made us very welcome and gave us a choice of where to sit. The place is nicely decorated with a modern feel but also like a traditional al country pub. They are currently making alterations to the pub so be prepared for a few bits of plaster missing, etc etc. Anyway back to the food - we opted for the two course carvery which was £12 each. With hindsight I should have gone for one course because I couldn't do the Sticky Toffee Pudding justice! There were three roast meats - pork, beef and turkey - Yorkshire's, stuffing, and today there were carrots, peas, cabbage, swede, and roast potatoes. Plus the most tasty cauliflower cheese. You can help yourself to as much as you like. We will definitely be going back! Beats the carvery chains hands down.

After a confusing period of time it appears the good old Four Horse Shoes is back in Business. They are shut this week 17th June for new kitchen refurbishment and general tidy up but we were lucky to get in last Wednesday for an excellent lunch session. A very good Beer available and good variety of meals all be it limited in number because it was the Olde Fartes lunch session, with very reasonable prices for us pensioners. Great food in the home cooking style. Starters main and Pudding if you can manage and I think we all did, it being Plumb and Apple Crumble to die for. The big room which was Bike repairs area is now restaurant and I believe the repairs are still on going out the back. A large number of Cyclists were having lunch when we were there also, so must still be popular with them. We met many other friends in there having a great time. Very sociable, friendly, funny staff, to entertain you. Great news and wish the new team every success. Do go there highly recommended.

We visited with high expectations after going twice last year, but were more than disappointed after bringing family too, there seems to be new owners who have ripped all the character out of the building and just dumped it outside, you have to walk past broken chairs and abandoned curtains etc to get in, if this was work in progress they should shut down until finished. Drinks were served in warm glasses, and service haphazard to say the least, there is no excuse for not cutting the grass it used to be a beautiful garden well kept and full of quirky bike related ornaments it is now just an overgrown weed filled mess, it would have been more relaxing to stay at home, the food was ok but I was worried about eating there after seeing the upkeep of the rest of the premises. I do hope they get their act together quickly or this will be another hidden gem gone.

The food was excellent, the lamb was tender and tasty and the vegetarian option was served rather like a Thali. Portion sizes were generous. We sat in the garden which was spacious. On Sunday's they have a smaller menu but do offer roasts. Two of us had he 'big fat Greek salad' which was delicious. Very fresh and tasty. The others has the roast sandwiches. I thought that was a great idea as they were served with a couple of roast potatoes. Quite a quirky idea as you don't always fancy a roast on a hot day. I'm a frequent visitor to this lovely cycling pub - they do a great range of cakes to refuel on a cycle ride as well as stocking some cliff bars and shot blocks to take with you. If you've ridden a long way then there's lots of more substantial food options too. The garden at the back has plenty of racking for bikes and is covered by CCTV. There's lots of picnic tables to enjoy a drink outside and the delicious BBQ offered on a Friday pm. Wednesday's are 'bus pass lunch' days where an extremely good value lunch is offered for OAPs. Friday's are film nights.Loads of other events, cycle jumble sales, bat walks, Sunday bike rides, star gazing etc. Also a bike workshop offering servicing and bike maintenance courses. It's so good to see a business that is hopefully doing well by making an effort to attract custom and 'thinking outside of the box'. Very well done and keep up the good work!

The menu isn't huge but there's a good selection of all the snacks, soups, jacket potatoes that you would want for lunch, plus a specials board. The cakes are excellent - don't miss the lemon meringue cake is all I can say!! The coffee was as well made and as 'arty' as you would get anywhere and the prices are more than reasonable. The reason we stopped here? The sign said that everyone, including dogs (we have two), was welcome. How true that was. They are open 09-00 hrs to 21-00 hrs every day and you can get you Bike fixed while enjoying excellent grub, Beer, Coffee, Tee, cakes & Scones, etc, etc. Lots of socials, we will be back and book this time.

Yet again, Ellen served up a fantastic, authentic curry. Every week the menu has a different theme, and tonight's was Mumbai Parsi. Absolutely delicious and far better than we've ever had in any 'Indian' restaurant. Very reasonably priced too! Would highly recommend anyone who likes a curry to try this.

Visited freewheel for the first time today since new owners took over, wow! What a change. Excellent value, good choice, friendly helpful team who don't restrict customers on menu choice. Requested hot coffee and that's exactly how it came and big on flavour too. Also a great social hub for the community and cyclists who come from far and wide, check out their website for future events. Previously when visiting my sister who lives nearby we ate at her home with various takeaway meals but will freewheel in future.

We walked down to this place from the coast with our dog on Saturday afternoon. Were met by a very friendly and local crowd who made us feel very welcome! The back room doubles as a cycle workshop and there was lots of interesting cycling paraphernalia on the walls - will have to stop by whenever we cycle through this area!

Visited here on a circular route from Faversham, it is well positioned to cater for cyclists going to and from the coast. I was a little surprised to see that they didn't have bike racks or locks for the bikes outside, considering it's a cyclists cafe though?Food and coffee were pretty good, but it was deserted (weekday afternoon) so service was a tad slow as the boss was busy in the kitchen when we arrived. Worth a drop in if only to support local cycling and a nice local amenity which is clean and airy and well decorated.

An excellent place, quirky imaginative decorations adorn the walls all with a cycling theme. Little extra touches in the loo,s enabling people to freshen up after a cycle. I have only tried the cake I had a beetroot and chilli brownie which was lovely, my son had a baguette which was presented well and he appeared to enjoy it. Whilst we were there Adrian the manager took a look at my sons bike and fixed the brakes in his workshop which is in the pub! I will definitely be a regular here.

Very welcome surprise to find on a cycle ride to Whitstable, the landlord has a great vision for this pub and is doing everything right in my opinion. Real ale, cycle workshop, cream teas, hyper-local food stuffs. Perfectly lovely. Maybe this was a mirage on the edge of the marsh?

I nearly drove past but I'm glad I didn't. At the time of my visit, the "Freewheel" had only been open for about six weeks. I'm not into cycling but Licencee Simon Oliver certainly is and his welcome was genuine. What a great concept. Formally the "Four Horseshoes" on the Faversham/Seasalter road at Graveney, this charming little pub surprises when you walk in. The "Freewheel" has a good restaurant style seating area, a few scattered arm chairs and a lawned area out the back. A projector screen is ready to show the great cycle races from around the world. The food is simple and fresh local produce is used where possible. We had a Ploughmans with a delicious local Cheddar & Brie. Although primarily a pub, beer here goes side by side with tea & coffee along with scrumptious scones & cakes. Whether you are cycling or driving around the area, call in and give it a go. Would I go back? Most certainly & I am looking forward to it.

The only good thing are the staff, they were lovely. The food on the other has really deteriorated unfortunately. Very sad indeed, it was once lovely place to go to.

Very disappointed with the portion sizes with home delivery, the beans is not even 3 Table spoons yet when you eat in the restaurant it’s a large portion, very small portions for expensive prices online. However delivery is always on time Bacon is always cooked lovely

Decided to try the abbey hotel as it was part of the eat out scheme, staff was absolutely amazing especially ajay and accommodating our family of 10 was no problem. Very spacious and very easy to maintain social distancing. Will definitely be returning in the future.
