My second time eating here and what a disappointment. The food looked great but lacked seasoning and flavour. They had a table of 13 in for lunch and the kitchen seemed unable to cope with the service as our food took ages and was not of a standard that you would expect at the price that they charge. The head waiter is full of chit chat when you arrive but when you complain about the quality of the food or the speed of service he simply dismisses you and is totally uninterested. The fish course was like warm and lacked flavour. They add 12.5% service to the bill for poor food and poor service. I was not convinced the first time I ate here but after the second time it will define the last time. Really disappointing all round.

We visited the Golf Club for Sunday dinner at beginning of May and was pleasantly surprised just how good it was! The staff were really helpful and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed - just what we wanted, Food was amazing and will definitely be bringing more family back here

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a hostelry! The men's toilets are disgusting! They have a drug problem with some of the customers snorting in the toilet stalls! The bar staff are surly! The manager is an oaf who thinks he can talk to people like dirt! As for the Sunday roast? I like vegetables drained of water, gravy with something less like brown water and a slice of meat thicker than aluminum foil! Three years ago they had a polite, enthusiastic manager that kept the place well run and had a beer garden devoid of trash and toilets that had operating facilities and didn't smell! The ale selection was fantastic too!

Excellent pie (big chunks of steak), mash and various veg, piled high, with thick gravy. Ribeye steak succulent, coming with big fat chips. Desserts well worth going for too. All this with real ale, a view from upstairs over the village green, and the romance of a 700 year old pub. Visit!

Visited Chartwell house for the first time and ate here for lunch. Lovely spot outside to sit in the sun and have lunch. I especially really enjoyed the tasty homemade sausage roll and my husband enjoyed the sandwich and flapjack. Tea and service very good, all very clean and I thought for under £20 well priced.
