We were warmly welcomed, staff were friendly and attentive and checking in was simple. The rooms, although a little tired, were clean, comfortable and well appointed. With a yummy breakfast, large bar with reasonable prices and good food selection along with free parking for residents it’s a great place to stay. We’re already booked in again in the new year.

So disappointing. We booked a table of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) for lunch at 12:45 on a Sunday. All very hungry and all looking forward to it. The pub / restaurant was very busy, but not completely full when we arrived. Took about 20 mins to get the menus, but we placed our orders quickly. Some 'snacks' to keep us going until the main meal, a few starters (soup and prawn cocktail) and then mains. Almost an hour later we were still waiting...including for our snacks, which were crab on crackers (why on earth someone in the kitchen couldn't have pulled these together in 2 mins we don't know!!!). The prawn cocktail is cold and presumably the soup isn't being made from scratch, so why these also took so long is a mystery! We did ask several times and were told "we're very busy and your food will be out in ten"...ten mins later we were still waiting. We were offered a round of drinks on the house, but all we wanted was food. Even the kids didn't get theirs. Eventually the manager came over and told us it would be another twenty mins and did we want more drinks ... 'hangry' doesn't cut it! We'd been waiting for almost an hour and a half by this point. No snacks, no starters, no kids food....nothing. To add insult to injury they didn't even comp us our bottle of wine as an apology. Appreciate they were busy, but if you can't cope then don't book the tables. We would have understood if a chef or kitchen staff were off sick, but that wasn't the reason given. Very, very poor and badly handled by the manager / staff. We ended up going to Cucina in Oxted who are always busy and always able to cope. We won't be returning to the G&D, which is a shame considering we're local and it's a beautiful pub.

Shocking service a couple weekends ago for my birthday. The starters took 50minutes to come out. The Roast dinner was bland, my sons sausages were burnt, my fathers Fillet steak was a cheap stringy cut and well done. Never again, shame because they had potential.

My husband and I recently stayed overnight at the George and Dragon in Westerham. We were so impressed by all aspects of the hotel. The room was lovely and there had obviously been meticulous attention to detail and maintenance. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was delicious. The service was outstanding and the staff so friendly, particularly Joe who remained calm and cheerful whilst grappling with the computer problems! This is the hospitality industry at its very best. Thanks to all concerned, we certainly recommend.

Stumbled across this Pub on a day out, and we are so glad we did! The Staff are so welcoming and attentive, the food is delicious and at a really reasonable price - with great wine recommendations from the staff - the ambiance is lovely, beautifully decorated and feels so cozy - it’s very dog friendly - dogs are allowed most places apart from there restaurant area (understandable!) but they have plenty of other areas to sit and order off the menu/ at the bar - the lovely staff even brought over a water bowl for our dog - just a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon here

Absolutely stunning hotel in the heart of Westerham with unique historical charm that captures your heart immediately. The hotel is incredible with old corridors that take you to the rooms and each room has its own name. The room we stayed in was called Falcor, it was beautiful and had everything we needed 42 inch TV, massive king sized bed, radio which was playing as we first walked into the room, a waterfall shower with modern bathroom as which comes with everything you need from shower caps, clean fluffy towels hand wash and soap and shampoo and the room was impeccably clean throughout with teas, coffees, biscuits and vials of purified water. I honestly couldn’t fault this stay even if I tried because there honestly wasn’t a bad thing to say about it and getting the double room package comes with free breakfast both European and cooked with a small buffet area and a menu in which to choose from that the staff tend to you almost immediately and are incredibly polite and helpful. Only thing I could say was I wish I stayed longer.

Very attractive pub, a good mix of old and new decor inside. Lunch was tasty, although a slightly unusual menu. I enjoyed the duck leg, but I was expecting more of a jus with it, The fish and chips were good and came with peas and a cold curried lentil dip, which worked, but would have been better served warm. Our daughter enjoyed her burger and chips. Grateful that it serves food all day, because we were there mid afternoon and so many places shut at 2pm.

We stayed overnight while visiting family. The George & Dragon has been renovated fairly recently. The room and bathroom were well furnished and high quality. There are also some nice touches with a kettle, tea and milk, also a courtesy bottle of sloe gin if you fancy a nip. We didn’t have dinner but the breakfast choice was creative and well prepared. The hotel has a nice bar. Overall the hotel was higher quality than we anticipated.

We came for lunch, on a lovely sunny day. Very few patrons, in spite of a beautifully-refurbished pub with several inviting eating areas, including a terrace. The menu looked very interesting, especially as my friend is a vegetarian and there seemed plenty of choice for her. But sadly the execution of the dishes was disappointing . We both ordered ‘small plates’. The ‘Old Winchester Cheese Croquettes’ were 4 tasty, bite-sized pieces. £7.50 My ‘ Roasted Heritage Carrots with honey-whipped ricotta and toasted pumpkin seeds’ arrived without any ricotta. This was rectified by the kitchen by adding a lump of ricotta, neither whipped nor honeyed. The carrots themselves were one degree above raw, very chewy. Hard to believe they’d been roasted! So, a plate of almost-raw carrots, £8.50. The ‘Grassroots Beef Short Rib Crumpet’ was a pile of tasty, tender shreds of beef, dumped on top of a supermarket crumpet, and garnished with tiny rings of pickled onion, microscopic pieces of gherkin - and a nasturtium leaf. £10.00 Service was pleasant but seemed slow, given the few patrons there were. To be fair, my carrot dish was omitted from the bill. However, we won't be returning - sad, as it is a very nice place, with a lovely private dining 'library' room, and a large room with wood-burning stove, as well as the terrace and conservatory areas.

Lovely pub, very friendly, helpful staff. However, I’m not sure who was ‘chef’ for the restaurant last night (23rd May) but the food was awful. Cold, dried out, no sauce, with each plate covered with odd additions, almost as if these ‘bits’ were leftovers to be used up. Everything on the menu sounds good and appealing but every dish we had was disappointing. I have eaten in the bar area before and the food was super. Just sad my restaurant experience was so awful.

My parents recently moved to Westerham so I booked this pub for Mother’s Day without having ever visited or having done any research. Had a quick look at reviews just before we went and was somewhat disturbed to see so many recent 1* reviews! However, I needn’t have worried as we all had a fabulous time and some of us are very pernickety! We were served by Ed who was brilliant. We all thought how lovely the decor was (bright and airy dining room with pretty fairy lights, and also cosy nooks in more traditional pub areas). We weren’t crammed in next to other people which we really appreciated. The menu had some really good and different choices and we all enjoyed our food - the sharer platter of roast pork was enormous and with some of the best roast potatoes we’ve had in a pub. The venison cottage pie was delicious too and we had some tasty desserts. It’s quite expensive for a pub, but the sharer roast was pretty good value as there was easily enough for 4 people at £65 (as opposed to around £21 for a single portion - we had loads of leftovers which the staff kindly wrapped up for us to bring home). The mums at the table were also all presented with a little gin and tonic gift for Mother’s Day. We will definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

What a fabulous weekend we've just had in this gem of a place! Located right in the heart of Westerham, this is so much more than a pub with rooms. We were checked in by a really friendly young chap who showed us up the stairs to our room - Zog - and gave us all the helpful info we needed about the room facilities, breakfast times and after-hours access. A nice touch was the radio playing in the room, so instead of walking into a silent sterile hotel room, we felt like we were being welcomed into a beautiful home. Our room was beyond expectations - superbly decorated and spotlessly clean. Bold colours and quirky decor added to the charm, and the views across rooftops to the countryside beyond were delightful. Luxury coffebags and tea-bags, and complimentary sloe gin on the room set the tone for this beautiful establishment. The bathroom was roomy, with fluffy towels and bathrobes, and came complete with Bramley toiletries. Having unpacked, we headed to the bar for a G&T. The same happy chap who'd checked us in was behind the very well-stocked bar. The pub has a variety of seating areas - some high tables & seats with views out to the high street, others tucked away in a snug area, and a wonderful area with an open fire, sofas and low tables that felt like the drawing room of a country house. The bar was busy at 4pm, and remained busy throughout the evening. We were meeting friends elsewhere in Westerham for early supper, which was the reason for our visit, and having told them how wonderful the George & Dragon is, the six of us headed back there for the rest of the evening and had a fabulous evening. Breakfast this morning was served in the restaurant area, which must come in to its own in the sunnier months when its bifold doors open up onto a raised seating area. As with the previous evening, all the staff we encountered were so enthusiastic, professional and full of smiles. We checked out vowing to return - this really is a fantastic place to stay, so welcoming, with very high standards, and it felt like we'd stayed in a luxury bijou home rather than in a hotel. Such a quirky breath of fresh air!

Usually this is our go-to-pub. Our last visit was so awful we won’t be returning. The roast beef was inedible, the pork was due to come with crackling which never arrived and the staff seemed to know but not care. Some potatoes were mouldy, carrots raw, prawn starter had 3 prawns and Yorkshire puddings were clearly made in the morning and reheated which made them tough and greasy. Then the cherry on top was the main waitress asking if all was ok and after explaining she was very rude and walked off. I also then had to leave the table to find someone to order a coffee and the bill as we were left for so long and I found her standing at kitchen counter waiting for the food to come out whilst scratching her head (which was not even tied up properly). Really unhygienic and a just so disappointed which the whole experience. The other younger waiter and waitresses were very good and polite.

My husband and I arrived at the George & Dragon a few minutes early and there wasn’t a table ready for us so the waitress asked if we’d wait by the bar until they had cleared a table. We were with our two young children & it was very loud and busy in the bar area so it wasn’t ideal but we waited around 10 mins and the table was ready. It was very busy & loud in the restaurant too but we sat our children down & started to look at the menu. We immediately knew what we wanted to eat & drink as we had been walking for a long time at a nearby national trust so had worked up an appetite. We waited & waited, the kids were becoming more & more impatient - we must have been waiting at least 20 mins to even be asked for a drinks order so we decided to leave. I do not recommend especially if you have kids as it was a very stressful experience.

The pub looks lovely but we had a terrible meal which was extremely overpriced. We sat for ages without being approached before asking the waitress for menus. Meanwhile a couple sitting on another table walked out they had been waiting for so long. In my opinion, the food was overpriced and bland. I ordered crab linguine and my husband ordered truffle mac and cheese. Both had hardly any sauce or cheese and my husbands looked like plain pasta with a sprinkling of something on top. For desert I ordered cheese and biscuits @ £15. Again extremely overpriced for cheese, biscuits that tasted like cardboard, and grapes that were soft and tasted like they had been in the fridge for over a week. I will not be returning

This establishment has the best atmosphere in Westerham and neighbouring towns, being well run and generally more than good staff. That said the restaurant is disappointing. Having eaten a here few times, the menu looks adventurous, even exciting. When delivered to your table the presentation doesn’t disappoint at all but most, dishes fall very short of their potential. Combinations of Flavours that should, but just do not work well, many almost too bland to to command medium pricing, let alone the inflated cost. Generally I would have absolutely no problem paying the advertised prices, but not at this standard and the “schnitzel” coating was just oil, drenched breqd that ruined a flavoursome fish. Such a shame, as the waiting staff are let down by the food quality. This all said it is edible, however really should be several levels higher than it is. Hope it improves as everything else is of a high standard.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and stylish, with brand new bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable. Our dinner was very good and again the serving staff were very helpful and efficient. There is parking on site with EV chargers for those that need them. The village of Westeram is has plenty to offer, including antique shops, cafes, restaurants and other independent shops. It is worth bearing in mind that the hotel is a 16th century so you do need to stoop to avoid beams sometimes and because it is in in the centre of the village, you can get some road noise, but the double glazing is very efficient. Breakfast is outstanding with a great variety. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Went here for lunch with a friend. Beautiful bar, restaurant and toilets but the food was awful. The mussels with bread was tasteless. The mussels were tiny, the sauce was bland, cold and the bread was on the verge of being stale!!! I was so hungry I ate as much as I could but I had to leave the rest . My pea ravioli was just about edible too and again Luke warm!! The tomatoes tasted “Woolly” as if they were soggy. I wish I wasn’t feeling under the weather that day because I wanted to send my food back, but I could f be bothered. My friends dish ( Mac and cheese) was just as bad. Again just reheated mush, tasteless and stodgy ! Service was mediocre besides a lovely young man who saw us to our table and assisted us with the choices of wine. Otherwise it was inattentive and staff need to hang around in corners chattering away and outside having a cigarette because it looks highly unprofessional and really puts me off. I’ve emailed the company to give this feedback because the setting is lovely and I was really looking forward to going here, but please think twice because it’s really average and you’d be wasting your money. We booked a night at the George and Dragon in August 2023. On arrival all was well, we were shown to our very nice room up in the eaves. Nicely decorated and laid out with free sloe gin in the room. However it was stiflinlgy hot and we were glad of the fan cooler which was in the room. The problems occured at dinner where we had pre-booked a dinner plan and expected to only pay for wine - how wrong!!! We were overcharged for the wine that we chose, and had the smallest and tasteless crab linguine i have ever had for main course, it was starter size. We were also charged an astonishing £14.29 for service charge bringing the whole bill to £53 more than we pre-booked - extremely poor value. Perhaps though, the worst problem was that I needed an ice block for medical reasons and asked the manager to put one in the freezer for me for the morning. when I asked for it, the member of staff said sorry, it had only been put in the fridge!! Therefore no ice block. This is a shame as it was a wonderful building in a lovely location.

Although there seems to be ample friendly staff the service is a) slow - 1hr 20 for main course to arrive, had to ask for drinks order b) multiple servers ask you the same questions c) they seemed unable to get the drink orders correct - orange juice & lemonade, twice they bought an orange juice and a lemonade d) order drinks and they don’t arrive, ask for a menu and no one comes back. Child’s Main arrived before starters, we were asked ‘do you want to keep it?’ Roast wasn’t as good as it looked, nice meat, awful cauliflower cheese, all in a pile so the roasties are soggy! Dessert was good. We were offered £20 of the bill as they had forgotten our drinks, but that was the least of the problems. Won’t return sadly.

Excellent Sunday Lunch. Visited with my wife’s 91 year old mother to celebrate her birthday. Service was great. My roast beef lunch was excellent and beautifully presented. A shame that the look of the WW2 pub, frequented by Biggin Hill fighter pilots, has been mostly lost though.
