Beautiful location with the river running along side the restaurant. Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff who are happy to answer any queries. Food arrived promptly and delicious too.

Second visit to the Lion Hotel for lunch where we were served by Janis. Nothing was too much trouble although he was very busy. The food was great and we will definitely visit again.

Had a lovely meal with my family today for Mothers Day. The atmosphere and restaurant surroundings were nice.( warm welcome too) The special Mothers Day Menu ( three course) had a lovely selection.The food great (on hot plates) in fact the roasts were massive! Had two cocktails too. One was a Raspberry Mohito and a Passion Fruit Martini. I think was possibly the best one I have ever had. Thank you to the young Barman who brought it to the table ( and made it) As for the Mango/ passionfruit pavlova, again I think this was the best Pavlova I have ever eaten and beautifully presented. Tina, our Waitress was lovely and could not of been any more helpful and competent. Thank you to all at the Lion Hotel. We will definitely be back again!

Visited for Mother’s Day but with standard menu, everything was great four all 4 in the party and we were looked after Jannis our server brilliantly, he is a credit to the team. You have to try the Sticky Sharing Platter and the Duo of Lamb We will certainly be back when visiting my Mum.

This was our first visit and we will definitely be going back. We ended up having three courses and thoroughly enjoyed everything that was served. Our waiter Yannis was fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed and it felt very cosy. I highly recommend a visit.

We have been visiting the Lion for many years and enjoy the atmosphere and food. But would really like to challenge the policy of allowing dogs in the restaurant. We dined there twice recently. First occasion while eating the table infront of us allowed their dog to urinate on a pillar besides them. Second occasion we had 2 dogs next to us which were smelly and constantly coming under our table and drooling. We love dogs too but there should be a separate area for visitors with dogs. Plus an area where diners can eat without dogs company.

The food is incredible, the staff are lovely. The service was really fast and friendly, cannot fault the lion hotel in any way. We were served by holly and she was amazing. 10/10 would recommend

This is one of my favourite restaurants around & on a sunny day, it’s just beautiful sitting outside eating lunch. However, the last two bank holiday weekend, we’ve visited & they’ve run out of things on their menu. This latest visit was the Friday of the bank holiday & they’d already run out of cream, so they once again couldn’t deliver their full menu. Plus, all the staff were very young & seemed out of their depth. I had booked for the celebration menu & when I checked in, they had absolutely no idea what that was. Our server literally said those words. We didn’t stay for a pudding as Eton Mess was unavailable due to no cream! Felt all a bit shambolic which is a shame as I love this restaurant. I hope that it picks it’s socks up!

Came here for a quick spot of lunch (mid week ), normally get here for around 12 & don’t normally book , just turn up & have the set menu near the bar, but we were told that unless we had pre booked, we could not have food until after 14:00 because they already had a large number of bookings….we declined . Shortly afterwards we got offer a table outside , it wasn’t that warm , so we declined, finished our drinks & went to eynsford for a nice meal . The staff retorted , don’t blame me , that’s what I’ve been told It’s a shame that vintage inns staff say these sort of things because my wife used to work for them for many years . There attitude might change next week when the kids are back to school & need the regular custom.

We met friends for lunch after having not eaten in this pub for many years. Tomato Arancini was a little dry but perfectly acceptable. Sunday lunch was good, except for the potatoes that were hard as bullets and completely tasteless & inedible. They are clearly from a packet and certainly not freshly cooked when you get them. This really lets everything else down on the plate which is actually really well cooked and tasty. On reading previous reviews this issue has come up over a long time which is disappointing as they are clearly not listening to their feedback. Additionally, another member had the Ribeye and it was meant to be medium rare but came out medium to well done. It was hard to cut and even chewier to eat so we fed 3/4 to the dog! On top of this we were charged for gravy at £2.50 per jug x5! We had to ask for more after the food arrived as the tiny individual gravy boats provided are just not big enough to hold what is needed for a roast dinner. This we felt was very cheeky indeed!! On the plus side service was great and everything came out together. However to spend the best part of £450 on a Sunday lunch only for the potatoes to be so bad is a quality check shortcut too far. Moreover charging us an extra £12.50 for additional gravy *gulp* is quite simply not on and does not make us want to return for food in the future. I do hope this pub reflects on this.

I would have sent it back but because of the company it would not have been appropriate. The worst prawn cocktail I have ever had. The prawns were like jelly. There was hardly any sauce. The avocado was mush and must have been frozen. The bread was inedible.

Once again have to record another wonderful meal at the Lion. From the welcome on arrival, through the meal, and the leaving goodbye you will be assured of exceptional customer service. Always a great atmosphere in the Lion. Very extensive menu for young and old, with particular attention paid to anyone with food allergies. We always enjoy our Sunday meals here and would not stop recommending this as a fabulous local eatery. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff.

We decided to take my sister (whose birthday it was that day) to lunch at The Lion in Farningham on 13.08.23. Glad I stuck with my choice of The Lion as the food was absolutely lovely and our waitress for the afternoon (Clare) could not have been more friendly and helpful. Everybody in our group was very impressed with their food and was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably price it was. Nice building, nice setting both inside and outside.
