Tasty food and quick service, with the addition of attentive and friendly staff. Comfortable and bright location if you need somewhere to have a brief break from work.

Such a beautiful setting, staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was incredibly good! We had the pork belly x 2, and scampi, plus sticky toffee pudding, crumble and the chocolate brownie, all delicious. Highly recommended!

A lovely little friendly bakers that does light lunches. The sandwiches are tasty (at least mine was), the cakes are very good. The coffee is good, better than Costa in my opinion.

If you like roaring fires, friendly and helpful staff, delicious and reasonably priced food and a decent pint in a calm and beautifully decorated setting you’ll be pleased you came. This is a pub like pubs used to be, with all the benefits of a cozy country pub right next to the station. Thanks to the great team at the Railway for another memorable visit.

Fun night for local ELF which stands for every last friday, when there is live music in the pubs, bars and abbey hotel in Battle

At Battle Bonfire last night and I have never experienced such bad service. The waiters were so busy talking to people they knew they didn’t even realise half the pint was spilling over and then continued to serve every person they personally knew the second they arrived at the bar which meant those who didn’t know the bartenders had a 30 minute wait. They didn’t even shake the juices so the juice was transparent.

Such friendly and accommodating service. Reserved a table for our group of 10 damp and muddy walkers and made a nice fuss of our dog. The food came quickly and was tasty and we got cake to takeaway too. Maybe a little pricey for what it is but the location is excellent and the service compensates. Would definitely come back.

Food was ok. Deep fried Camembert was delicious but to only get 5 pieces of calamari for £12 was deeply disappointing. Will take me a long time to get over that.

Often visited Battle but this was our 1st visit to The Chequers. Absolutely great discovery! So many delicious choices for breakfast - tasted brilliant! All so good we had to return for a late lunch before we left for home. Friendly staff, excellent service and fabulous food. A great find and we will definitely be back.
