It was a lovely day and we sat in the garden. The menu is varied and caters for many tastes and dietary requirements. The food was fresh and delicious and appeared to be home cooked. Excellent value for a really good lunch. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful old pub with lovely atmosphere. Great selection of sensibly priced dishes, cooked to perfection and catering for gluten and dairy free requirements . Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed. Would definitely recommend and absolutely return.

We visited the Filly Inn after seeing the kids menu and liking the fact it had some "healthier" options like toad in the hole with veggies, cottage pie with veggies rather than the usual chicken nuggets and chips. When we arrived and walked in we loved the decor and the fact you could see straight into the kitchen, so could watch your food being cooked. We took a seat at our table feeling that we were about to have a wonderful dinner out, but that soon changed. The service was terribly slow, considering there was only one other couple in there eating! I ordered the pate and my partner ordered the calamari. When it arrived the calamari was missing the miso mayo, so my partner asked politely if he could have the mayo and the waitress did not apologise and simply turned her back and wandered over to the kitchen, we could hear the kitchen staff sniggering and the squeezed some plain mayo into a dish and brought it over. We are not ones to complain, so we just ate what we were given. And this is the most frustrating part, the food was fantastic. As I made my way through the pate, I soon realised my three tiny crostini bits of bread was not enough for my kilner pot of pate, so I asked for some extra bits of crostini so I could finish my lovely pate as I can not just eat the pate alone. Again, the waitress did not apologise and just looked at me shocked and walked off. Again, I could hear sniggering from the kitchen and as my bits of crostini was brough out, I heard the chef say "she will probably want more pate now"! I was shocked by this, I didn't think asking for an adequate amount of bread with the amount pate that was served was a big ask and on the menu it reads it comes with ciabatta and this was definitely not ciabatta, it was three tiny pieces of crostini. When our table was cleared, our drinks were empty but we were not offered more drinks, therefore we asked. Our old bottles, glasses were not taken and when our second round of drinks arrived they still were not taken. Our mains came out, and again it was delicious - I had the mushroom pie, my partner had shepards pie and my son had toad in the hole. We always order dessert, but we just wanted to leave by this point as we felt unwelcome, so we asked for the bill. When the bill came, we were charged for the extra bits of crostini and also, 12.5% service charge. I would like to say that we always tip generously, but 12.5% service charge for inadequate service was quite hard to swallow. But as I said, we always leave a tip so we did not ask for this to be removed. Now, onto the charge for the extra crostini, now I do not mind being charged for extra but I feel that this was not an "extra" this was just compensating for the lack of bread that was misadvertised and put onto my original plate. Also, that fact that my partner never got his miso mayo. In hindsight, we should have complained at the time, but we are not ones to cause a fuss, especially with my son present and by now a family sitting behind us, so just paid the full amount including the service charged and left. We would have been regulars and would have recommended the Filly Inn to others, but we won't be returning and tell people to avoid. I would like to end this review with a plea to the management - you have the decor and the food right, it was lovely but you can't go on just that alone. Please just work on the service and just the finishing touches that make people want to return and recommend.

Revised review! This place has come so far since last summer, when I gave it three stars for decent burger but total lack of service and really really slow kitchen. Today I had the same Burger (still good) and it came within a few minutes and was piping hot. The young staff were so friendly and helpful and came round several times to check if I needed anything and whether everything was okay. There is zero descriptive information on the food if you order through the QR code lol, so: The burger is massive, in a nicely toasted brioche bun with a good thick slice of tomato and a nice sweet relish. Chips are good too. I didn’t even have to ask for mayo, she brought it with the food. A good pitstop before a hike through the forest to Roundhill campsite, (where there is no food).
