Sadly, I believe it's closing. It's busy probably because the food is cheap however so are the ingredients.

Ian served us and was very polite and friendly. He happily showed us to a quiet seated area when I told him that we were both autistic and would need some quieter seats. He apologised for delays and made sure we were enjoying our food. He worked really hard all evening with so many customers to see to!

As usual we stopped for an evening meal after a hard working day , able to book ok and enjoyed a nice starter and mains. Good value for money. Always busy but friendly staff

We had excellent table service from Katherine,food was hot and quick arriving,always attentive and quick to bring drinks and condiments,I think this lady needs a special mention.Very enjoyable and my friends from Rowlands Castle were most impressed.

We were in the area and had a discount voucher for main meal reduction so had a starter and mains plus a large drink each and after deal deducted paid £41 Service and food quality were excellent and having been here many times in the past as we previously lived locally we can say we miss coming to the heath always a good meal, atmosphere, service and value for money

Visited on August bank holiday Monday. Didn't have half the things on the menu, blamed no delivery on the bank holiday. Other pubs plan for a bank holiday!! They watch people stand at the door looking at the menu before sitting down, even though the kitchen closes at 2:30pm and they do not advise people, not even a sign to let anyone know. Woman behind bar had no people skills at all. Very off putting and will never return.

Visited the Heath for a lunch and received a friendly team smile from the staff Inesa and Claire. The food was served quicky within 15 minutes of ordering and the Spicy Burger was delicious. Very happy with the service, food and friendiness of this place.

Lovely staff, really great food. The only thing was loos were stinky, and the scary entrance/exit straight off the roundabout. If you are visiting PLEASE TAKE CARE!

Me, my husband and children enjoyed our recent visit here, and had great customer service from Ian. I really hope this establishment goes under and turns into something else other than a restaurant. I have known this place since it was Charlie Chalks many years ago, and it's usually been more good than bad when visiting. I hope that the new chapter for this place turns into a restaurant that provides a play area for children such as it did back in the 90's and 00's. Katsu Chips were good

food was good, well what got served up. all our side extras that we orderd never arrived and when we asked about them we were told they were being cooked fresh so we waited and waited then we had finished our meals so didn't want the sides so when another waitress came round we said to take them off the bill she told us they hadn't been orderd anywa But in general food was good but not great service.

Absolutely disgusted with this place me and the family went for a meal out here and it's definitely not kid friendly outside there was smashed glass on the table and on the grass the staff didn't care whatsoever and kept going past it also the people that work there look like they don't want to work there and always end up having moody expressions on their faces I would definitely not recommend this place to anybody!

Yes it was well worth the trip back to the health good pub food and some good offers on the staff were very helpful and friendly and it was very clean and tidy and very busy

For the price the food was terrible. Menu stated chips and we got fries (there is a difference) prawn cocktail was requested without cucumber (we got cucumber) bread was stale. Thai vegetable curry said it came with broccoli and bamboo shoots there were a few chunks of sweet potato and hundreds of peas and definitely not Thai. Not a chance we will eat here again.

My meal was superb, but I dropped a star as the friends I was with are vegetarian,and though they enjoyed the Thi curry, said they have had better.We all agreed that we couldn't fault dessert,all portions were generous.

The food was excellent, service was excellent. Love the decor as well. Let’s hope the Health will be a restaurant for many years yet .

Great value for money. Food and service is always fantastic. We go regularly and it is always great. Ian is great and has always been amazing every time we visit. We have heard that this lovely place may possibly close if management have there way! Shocking decision if so. It’s places like this that keep Britain as Britain. Such a shame if so and management should hang there head in shame if so!

First visit, food was very enjoyable an was the pub

Every so often, I give this place another chance. Last time is definitely my last time. Never again. It’s continued to be poor every time I’ve been. The food is awful, overcooked and bland. The staff, are pretty rude too. The place was empty so it’s not as if it was rammed and could understand frustration at being at work. The bacon was transparent and had no taste to it, the gammon also had no taste to it, chips over done and tasted stale. All together another disappointing visit.

Booked a table for 4 adults at 4 pm - then 2 extra turned up - restaurant was virtually empty - asked if ok for the extra two and was told that the table we used for the extra two was booked - hmmm only one table for two in the whole empty restaurant? The waitress must have been having a bad day as her face did not crack a smile once! Food was over cooked - and bland - yes it’s a cheap eatery but you would Hope that service would at least be good - the other waitress who looked after us in the end was much more pleasant - won’t be going back any time soon

Not the best Sunday roast as google says. But at £10.49 it's OK.

I booked having googled for best Sunday lunch in Southampton. It wasn't. Wrong potatoes used for Roasties and a cheap cut of beef overcooked despite being first through the door. Wines priced well. Majority of customers were over 60,s. Still at £10.49 ,what do you expect.

Your food is incredible your staff are lovely setting is fabulous too and your puddings are incredible.

Food was good and very reasonably priced. Service was good tho we had to ask twice for water and then only got 1 glass of it. It would have been good to be asked if we all wanted some or better still provided with jug and glasses!

Seats were dirty , food was cold. Veg on the Sunday dinner was not nice.

Went for a meal on Friday night very disappointed with the service, one off are dishes was sent back as it was stone called, there was no apologise or anything, very disappointed as normally we have good service on other occasions we have been there 😔

Great pub, with very affordable prices. I would say the prices of 2022 and not 2024. The quality of the food was great. Pork ribs were very tender, falling of the bones and grilled chicken breast was so succulent. The interior is a bit shabby and in great need of renovation, but service was fast and friendly.

Just came from the Heath having had my Birthday meal there with my wife and children. The food was excellent and we were looked after by Ian, who made sure we were catered for. Adding to the great experience. Thank you Ian and the rest of the staff.

We were welcomed by Ian who very kindly moved us to a table further from the door to avoid the icy draught when the door opened. We both had a delicious roast dinner and I had a Knickerbocker Glory for afters which was lovely. In spite of the Heath being really busy today, we were served quite promptly and everything was piping hot, except the Knickerbocker Glory of course 😉

Right idk where to start this place always used to be good. Good management and good food. Now there’s a new manager and everything changed food has changed it’s gone down hill don’t think I will be coming back

First time eating here and couldn't fault it. Food looked appetising was hot and a generous amount. Staff were happy and helpful. Our waitress Lauren really shone and we will definitely be eating here again.

Went for Sunday dinner, which was delicious. Unfortunately we were initially served by an unwelcoming man, who made ordering rather unpleasant. I also witnessed him at the bar being rather unfriendly to other customers. Thankfully the young lady and man who served us the mains and dessert were lovely!

Service by Inesa was fantastic. She accommodated us really well and didn’t rush us. Food was pretty good. It’s reasonable and everyone cleared their plates.

First time visit today, was very busy so that’s always a good sign. Couldn’t fault the food or service from inesa :) I had fish and chips and the mr had trio of pies it was lovely defo recommend

Lauren who served us was as excellent as always. She remembered us from previous visits and made us feel welcome.

I visited the heath on Sunday March 31st for my birthday meal. It was a very enjoyable experience. The atmosphere was great, the food was excellent and the service was fast, efficient with happy staff. Lauren was absolutely wonderful and looked after my family and I wonderfully well. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone.

Great service from Michael who managed the order for 11 people with no errors and ensuring each person was given the correct items without having to ask who had ordered what. He was helpful when children needed straws, extra sauces and more. He helped to make a family birthday a great evening - thank you Michael

Lovely food and lovely staff and the atmosphere was brilliant so overall it was a good meal and cannot wait to return

Had a great lunch as usual with our favourite waitress Claire, very knowledgeable, friendly, the best. We visit 2-3 times a week if it wasn’t for Claire serving us we wouldn’t visit, she makes our visit every time, as she does for lots of other people.

We use this establishment every friday for lunch. the value is excelent. we enjoy meeting other people who sit near us. Clare and Jill are the best, always looking after us, without them we would go elsewhwere.

We had a large group but our food arrived relatively quickly. Our server Ian was awesome too, very friendly and super helpful.

Dirty plates left on table's under staffed waiting along time to be served if only they employed a glass/table cleaner for a few extra pounds it would have be a different experience

Worst meal I have ever had. I had gammon and all I could taste was the charred taste on everything. The fries were dry and Luke warm and didn’t taste fresh. Some of the family had steak which was tough!! I would NOT recommend this establishment for food.

The staff are experienced and courteous, Cathrine always looks after her tables and takes the time to care about them. To be remembered and be respectful to patrons goes a long way for returning customers.

Unfortunately we came at a busy time, the food was not sent out in the right order and we ended up having starter for a main and a main for a starter as the option was to wait longer and have the main heated up again ! This was down to our server’s error

Had a walk near by and seriously , this place is a hidden gem. From the cozy vibes to the affordable menu, it's a total win. The staff super friendly and attentive. Inesa and the team constantly serving with a smile ! They made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Plus, they had some great recommendations that we totally loved. Can't wait to go back and try even more of their tasty dishes. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out!

Dropped in Saturdays lunchtime, with disabled car parked badly, scaffolding and flooded car park it was a bit of a obstical couse to get in. Greeted and seated promptly in a nice table in the window. Food and service was good but only small thing was when the drinks menu and salt/ pepper was moved you could see they only cleaned around them and hadn't moved the bits in the middle of the table.

Terrible meal today. Everything on the plate was overcooked and garlic bread was burnt as well as the chicken. Chips were cold and dry. Presentation was poor, see picture Waitress unfriendly and didn't seem to want to be there.

Me and my partner went for dinner here, we were served by Jess and Lauren who couldn’t have been more helpful. Amazing service the whole way through, food was lovely and service was excellent!

The Heath is rapidly becoming our 'local' due to the quality of the welcome, the food and the atmosphere. We went this time to celebrate my birthday and had such a lovely time. Katherine, the lady who served us was kind, cheerful and professional - such excellent customer service! She even saved us a third on our meal by pointing out a discount code I had received in an email the day before and hadn't noticed! Our three course meal cost £47 including drinks - excellent value. At no time did we feel rushed to finish our meal making my birthday treat even more enjoyable.

No real ales and problems with paying and their WiFi is non existence. Gave me a loyalty card and could not log on, Haha Walked out in disgust.

Meal for 2 with a friend. Staff were friendly but we were sat right in the back were it was dark and gloomy. Food wasn't up to par and was warm when arrived. Very dark lighting outside when driving in

Visited with my family, put someone else’s food on our table twice, not a big deal. Let’s Start with the adult meals, we had club sandwiches, smallest ration of chicken, and there was an egg inside strangely and it was the smelliest egg I’ve ever smelt, not pleasant. Kids meals were awful, barely edible, chicken nuggets were disgusting and dry, Kids steak Burger was bad too, roll tasted plastic and horrible. Very small portions also even if they were for children.

This is not the first vist. Great place to go for a good value meal. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is good.

Food was good and a lovely pub but our experience was ruined by poor attitude of the (presumably) restaurant manager - rude, blunt and unfriendly. Also no manners from the woman that served us but I feel that may have something to do with the knock on effect from those in charge……..

Katherine Down was brilliant. The rest were OK but didn't go the extra mile...like when asked for glass wine..didn't ask what type but Katherine was on the ball. Checking all was okay and just brilliant customer service. Some people are made for hospitality and Katherine really is a people person with the common sense that is so rare nowadays. Great lady Hold on to her! Good food too. Steak cooked to perfection!

Visited last night…..one poor lady behind the bar, so despite her best efforts the service was slow! Food was average and reasonably priced and a great menu if you want to put on weight and up your cholesterol! The barman/manager needs to up his game! Delivered our food without a word, pushed through people without an” excuse me”, straight between two people talking to clear plates without a word!! Sullen, unfriendly and downright rude!!

Booked a table for two which was easy online. Greeted at the door by Lauren who was so pleasant and constantly smiled. She made our meal enjoyable by checking on us whether we needed anything after our order. The mixed grill and gammon steak were 10/10. Shout out to Lauren and the chefs.

It's two years since my last review. In that time, the food has improved. Good prices, special offers with a decent variety on the menu and the service is excellent. The heath always has a very nice atmosphere. There is plenty of parking with plenty of seats outside and often In the sun. I would recommend coming here.

Had a lovely Sunday roast dinner last Sunday with hubby. we had a main and dessert there are arrange of different gins available ands beers very friendly staff

We have been here on many occasions, and we have never been disappointed, the food is always cooked to perfection the service is impeccable, Gill is always cheerful, chatty and knows her job. She always remembers what we drink and the drinks are on the table as soon as we arrive.

Updated 2024: We booked a table for a quiet chat over a meal on a weekday evening; but were shown to a tiny table in the only busy area, so had to refuse and ask again for a quiet table. This started off ok, service pace was perfect, and food arrived hot and was tasty. Halfway through our meal, a server started dragging tables around to form a larger table right behind us, and a noisy group of adults with crying children were seated. Why?? The whole of the next section was vacant: in fact, most of the restaurant area was empty. Their kids were running around unsupervised in the next section anyway... We were really tempted to pick up our desserts (a rare treat) and reseat ourselves in the bar area for the rest of the meal. We went home early, feeling irritated.

We are semi regular visitors. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Food is cheap and cheerful. The only issue is that there is only ever 1 member of staff on the bar. They are clearly overrun which leads to long wait times. The poor single member of bar staff cannot keep up. Honestly you'd get served quicker at a wetherspoons with a queue 10 deep.

We ordered food and it was cold,no gravy with the pie which was on the menu as included!,burger cold not nice,chips cold,gamon was warm.The staff who served us were NOT friendly dident offer any conferment either.

Slightly long wait to be seated, but the place seemed understaffed and the staff who were on shift were all very lovely and helpful. The food itself was unfortunately quite bland. I had the turkey and it tasted like the cook had just cut an unseasoned slab off of a turkey and whacked it on the plate. We as a nation really must learn to season our food again! I cannot fault the wait staff, who seemed to be working hard, were as quick as circumstances allowed, and friendly. The available toilets were not accessible, with one door you need to push to get into the narrow corridor that houses them, and another push door to get into the toilet rooms themselves. If you were a person in a wheelchair you'd struggle to get in and out. Let's not forget about them, eh? Atmosphere was a bit ruined by the landline phone that was ringing the entire time we were there. Overall, perfectly OK, but I'd probably pick another pub in the future.
