I'm not a member but I booked in with Royal Lymington Yacht Club to do RYA Level 3 Dinghy sailing course after doing levels 1 & 2 on the river Thames. The club is very nice with great views and Richard, the instructor leading the course was great and gave the choice of additional things to learn.. I had a great time out on the water and sailing on the solent felt like a real achievment. Proud to be able to say I trained at Royal Lymington Yacht Club and am looking forward to doing RYA First Aid Course in December .

Despite the sign outside saying “visiting yachtsmen welcome “ the receptionist wanted proof of visiting AND proof I was a member of a Royal yacht club before telling me that they didn’t serve dinner on Monday’s.

A private yacht club that welcomes visiting yachtspeople but not their canine crew. Function rooms for dining and drinking are available to be booked. Dogs are allowed on the balcony but not in the building. The food is OK, prices and quality similar to the average pub. A choice of Ringwood ales at the bar as well as keg ciders and beers, all at no more than pub prices. The club members and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. There is a lift for disabled access to the bar.

A good place to sit and watch life go by. We sat and watched the Isle of Wight ferry pass by. It seems a popular place for people with dogs, no idea where they went but there were several dog walkers even in the rain. There is public toilets in the car park and a slipway, it is a large car park with plenty of spaces.

Many thanks to Mike and the catering team and the bar staff who looked after us so well on our recent rally from Brading Haven Yacht Club. 14 of us had dinner on the Monday evening and then 12 of us on the Tuesday. The food was excellent, the steaks, the fish, the omelettes and a special mention for the liver and bacon which was cooked to perfection for each individual order. The home cooked chocolate brownie is also worth a mention. Thanks again, we will be back.

The club has offered a fantastic experience for my children dinghy sailing, as well as opening many opportunities for myself and my wife. It really is a family club with an excellent reputation. The initial cost was a little concerning but if you embrace the club and get out on the water it really is good value for money.

Visiting Lymington and our lovely friends took us to the Royal Lymington Yacht Club for lunch on a very busy sailing Saturday. Beautiful views, in a vibrant busy dinning room, but no problem finding a table and the service was excellent and food simple but appetising and beautifully cooked and presented. Crab bisque was superb.

Yacht clubs are not always good and not all understand the need to be welcoming. This one does. Everything to a high standard but above all the wish to serve people well. Excellent service. Good facilities. Their ability to organise an event is first class. All the details covered. Unexpected illness, carefully monitored and looked after.Just excellent.

Oddly expensive for a members' club. On the night I went it was £12.50 for a steak pie and dessert. I did not want a dessert but that was the fixed price. The steak pie was awful - someone else said that the horse should have been shot 10 years earlier which summed it up.

A members' only club, bar and boat yard and centre for yachts and yachties. The bar and restaurant, which we have visited as guests, has zero atmosphere but a truly wonderful view, very ordinary food, just about adequate service, but reasonable (members) prices. The members pay high joining fees and subs to be a member and most that we have talked to grumble about it in farly loud voices. Each to our own but we have visited many yacht clubs around the world and this doesn't compare. Worth a visit with members if only for the spectacular view across the river and towards the Isle of Wight, but for a culinary treat, don't bother.

Yacht clubs have become havens for real ale drinkers but not this one. Only real all is the very weak and rather tasteless ( they go together, of course) Ringwood Best Bitter. Otherwise there was, most curiously, a choice of 2 golden beers which are always tasteless. Apparently thye have abandoned the advantages of being independent and having a free choice of beers to stock by effecting an exclusive contract with Marstons. That excludes the very popular London Pride and Doombar which were previously stocked at this bar. It would allow Ringwood 49er and Pedigree but they have decided not to stock those. All in all a most odd decision. The adjacent pub, The Mayflower, doe shave a good choice of real ale..We visited on a Wednesday evening for supper. A bad sign at about 8 pm wa sthat there were only 2 people eating. The food choice was even more odd than not having any good real ale. The only starter offered was tomato soup - this was on a hot summer's evening. There was a choice of 3 mains - we all had chili con carne and rice. The chilli/ carne part was nice but the rice was served in what seemed to be a single lump.No traditional summer evening food such as salads. It seems that this club is reassessing its food and drink offerings and it seems to have a long way to go to attract the large support that it used to have.Waiting staff were very pleasant. The food and drink prices are about the same as a pub which is odd as members' clubs are usually significantly cheaper.Visiting yachtsman, arriving by sea, are allowed in subject only to signing a visitors' book. A great view, particularly from the roof terrace.

After going off course in 2014 this has now rejoined the main stream and has a new chef and a new menu. The waiting staff have obviously now had some training and were very helpful and attentive. I had pork and apple pie which was lovely with fresh vegetables but what looked like fried potato slices ( which I left) and my guest had scampi which was nicely dry. There was not any light or "healthy"/low calorie options. The River Room gives a wonderful view of the river and the hourly massive car ferries. The bar has changed to Marstons as its only supplier so no longer has the ever popular London Pride or Doombar premium bitters. In fact it no longer has a premium bitter at all - only Ringwood Best bitter ( 3.8%). Curiously when I visited they had 2 different golden bitters - an eclectic choice at the best of times.

We were a party of five. We were greeted by a young man who sullenly approached us and asked " do you wanner eat"! He eventually reappeared about twenty minutes later and took our order somewhat reluctantly. Our friends who are members were very embarrassed and were minded to ask for another member of staff but on looking round it was apparent that all the staff were very young indeed and were all talking at length in the far corner, we stuck with the young gentleman rather than cause a fuss.In short the two steaks ordered were both incredibly small and of poor quality, the vegetables were over cooked and mushy. The ladies all had fish which was tasteless and again hugely over cooked! Deserts were bland and had very obviously been in the cabinet for some time! Dreadful service, poor quality food cooked very badly and our friends were exceedingly embarrassed. Awful experience.

We were 'signed in' as guests and enjoyed a splendid lunch and drinks with friends. Attentive service, good food and an out of this world view over the water. Lots of interesting memorabilia and nautical art, including several outstanding black and white photographs. A shame they don't have a social or 'associate' membership class for non sailors as we we would join like a shot! And the Club was almost empty, and they weren't taking much money, so maybe something for them to consider?

We moored in Lymington Yacht Haven and walked down beside the marina to the club.We pressed the entry button and were admitted and signed the register as visiting yachtsmen. We had not booked but were quickly given a table at 7 pm on a Friday night. We paid for our meals and drinks at the bar.The menu has 2 prices, one higher for "outsiders" and one for members. The food was well served and tasted good. We enjoyed a whole mackerel on a slate with piped mash and green beans and a chicken breast .There were several desserts on display. You serve yourself coffee from a machine for £1.20.There was plenty of room and a large outside terrace has just been laid giving excellent views down the river and towards IOW.We will definitely return.

I do not usually post negative reviews. Indeed I only review in the positive. We are sitting here disgusted at the quality of service food and quality. It takes a bit for me to get excited at poor quality but this wins hands down. Ok lamb tasteless, unusual and indistinguishable. Beef was ok. I do not do serviettes or cruets but do do expect napkins hot plates salt and pepper and a proper cutlery. Quality of food can be found at sub regional motorway café or service stations. Bring back happy road chefs. Pudding... known as sweet. A separate ticket needed procurement from the bar. It did include cheese. This is awful. Then the outbreak of war between ward room and lower decks. Appalling. Avoid at all costs. The £ huge membership costs are wasted. The place is full of people from chandlers Ford and Boscombe. What a slip in standards.

Great roast. Had pork and lamb - both excellent. Nice dry cauliflower cheese. Sadly they had run out of vanilla ice cream to accompany the treacle tart but had very good, light custard instead.Great view of the river from River Room part of the restaurant. The main restaurant has no view unless on balcony which has 4 tables and superb view down river and across the Solent.Roof top sitting area has wide view of western Solent and across to Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.Restaurant is self-service and had a slow moving queue but it was Sunday lunchtime..Not quite sure how this is on Trip Advisor as it is a members only club.

We had sailed non-stop from Plymouth to Lymington (taking 21 hours) and were really looking forward to a lovely meal and a warm welcome. We received a very tepid welcome from the local sailing community and we were served a small, average meal that was extremely overpriced. Dissapointed is probably an understatement, and I am sure that my local club in Plymouth would be much more welcoming.

As i have said before, i don,t review unless i truely need to. Well unfortunately this is not a postive one. Visiting Lymington yacht club one evening, waited at bar for at least ten minutes, was asked by young member of staff if i was being served, i said no i wasn,t, she just continued wiping glasses. I was then ignored by another member of staff, who served a couple who had come in after me. Finally i got served, asking for two hot chocolates, which were the worst hot chocolate i have ever had. Being made in front of me, it appeared that the barman did all the right things, but to my dissapointment, it was not hot at all, not even luke warm, it wasn,t mixed properly, so had vile dry lumps of chocolate in my mug. Its not hard really is it.

We were looking forward to our visit and had high expectations of somewhere as prestigious as this. What a let down. The service was friendly, but a little slow. The seating was rather random and although we'd booked as a party giving correct numbers too, they had to add another table WHILST WE WERE DINING as there wasn't enough room for all of us on the table they had set aside! The food was expensive and very poor quality. The crab and prawn tian had no crab in it, and was more like a skimpy prawn cocktail. The salmon with asparagus sounded good, but there was no asparagus available, so we had to settle for overcooked beans instead! The roast potatoes were soggy and overcook, as was the cauliflower. Even the bread was very hard and dry, stale and impossible to spread the rock hard butter on!Shame somewhere like this can't manage to cook food to a decent standard. We wont be going back!

Me and my family visited here on Saturday for afternoon tea for my nans birthday. Beautiful hotel however very unhelpful staff and customer service was very poor. We had vouchers which we used for our afternoon tea however when we checked our receipt after paying the bill they had overcharged us. We proceeded to explain what had happened ed however they refused to give us a refund and told us it would take 10 days as it had to go through accounts. While talking to the staff about our issue they were laughing and seemed to find the situation very funny. There was also no manager present on site nor was there any member of staff who knew how to do a refund on a card machine meaning when we finally got hold of the manager after many complaints and phone calls the staff didn’t know how to do our refund. The afternoon tea could have been improved. Was not a good experience. Check your receipts as apparently it was our fault.

This was my first visit here and I was pleasantly surprised on arrival at the spacious car park. The building is very interesting and the bar steward was able to tell us all about it’s history. The bar is in the entrance hall with little seating available. The Library and Billiard Room are nearby with ample comfy seating, but for those who like to drink at the bar, it is not ideal. The building itself is very interesting. It is from a past era with extensive wood panelling and some very spectacular high ceilings decorated with intricate plaster work. The men’s toilettes were pristine and very well appointed. Sadly, it was very cold in both the bar area and in the dining room. The manager/server sat at a table in the dining room working on his lap top and taking a series of phone calls. Even when we were seated in the dining room he continued his activities at times rather loudly. We had to attract his attention to take our orders. The menu offers a wide range of choices. Our starters were good and enjoyable. My falafel salad was very tasty and looked very attractive on the plate. Our server was friendly and helpful and the food arrived promptly and hot. Our main courses were received with mixed reviews. The fish pie was shallow and with little fish. The chicken dish was rather bland and greasy. The two burger eaters left empty plates and enjoyed the burgers and the fries. We did not stay for desert but did do justice to two bottles of a very tasty Chateau Neuf du Pape. Was the evening value for money? The atmosphere was stark, it being cold and devoid of background music. The service could have been better, but it was a Wednesday night with few customers and only two front of house staff on duty. Some main courses were underwhelming and so overall I did not feel that the evening was good value for money. The location has so much potential to become a really great place to eat but perhaps I’ll try again in a year or so.
