The Crown Inn in New Forest

The staff were brilliant and so attentive. My son was celebrating his 13th birthday. They showered him with attention and made the whole restaurant sing happy birthday and decorated his pudding plate. It made his birthday.

Service was very good. Value for money was poor. Some menu items are far too expensive. Bar area was noisy.

Excellent service. Staff were amazing. Regularly checking we were happy and did we need anything else.

Booked here for Mother's Day lunch, and what a treat. Our table was all ready, including highchair and service, which began immediately with drinks. Then they asked if we wanted the children's (2) meals to come with our starters. What a great idea. Then they gave the kids crayons and paper to occupy them. Service was prompt and friendly. The place was full, obviously as it's Mother's Day but the atmosphere was great and the whole staff operated like a well-oiled machine. It made our day. Well done, and thank you ❤️ we will be back. Also, very good food at affordable price.

DELICIOUS!!! I love The Vintage Inns pubs, the standard of food has always been the same - meaning that we have always experienced tasty food, good drinks and clean pubs. I have been to one in Cheshire, Bristol, Coventry and today Christchurch - all excellent pubs, I do recommend this place to others. The duo lamb dish is exceptional!!! The signature burger is also super delicious. You must try :)

Fantastic atmosphere in this lovely old pub with top service from extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good choices on the menu and the honeypot dessert was delicious as was the greens and grains salad. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Visited the Crown many times over the years. The staff are very friendly & efficient, the pub interior is lovely and well set out. I felt our latest visit Saturday night was a little mixed. My wife’s starter, Brie bites, was tiny with a capital T, 3 little pieces, didn’t represent good value for money at all, why eateries serve up such tiny portions is beyond me. The mains were nice. I feel the deserts, whilst tasty, should be larger at around £7.50 apiece, again small portions.

The service was fab, didnt wait for anything, thr food was absolutely delicious- couldnt fault anything!

Since new management, the service was very quick and very friendly, really enjoy going here. Management has changed again and the pub is not manned enough, again.

Met very quickly and shown to our booked table. Waitress apologised for delay but we hadn’t waited more than a couple of minutes during which we were chatting anyway. Great place really good food. Sunday lunch is one of the best I've had in a long time, very reasonable prices I would definitely go again.

I’ll preface this by saying the pub is lovely looking inside. The waitress was fairly pleasant also. We’ll start with our starters. The calamari was cold and chewy squid isn’t the nicest thing to eat. Brie bites tasted okay but a bit bland and there was more air than Brie in the batter. Portions were big for starters but that’s not necessarily a complaint. The mains was where it fell down a cliff. The roast dinners were really not good. A member of the party said it was in his bottom 3 roasts ever and he had the trio roast. The beef was very tough and chewy like leather. The carrots were stone cold, as were the potatoes. Anything else was barely warm and he ended up leaving a lot on his plate. Another member of the party had roast turkey and it was the same. The chicken schnitzel was okay but chips nothing too impressive. We didn’t stay for dessert as we couldn’t trust it would be worth the money! Very disappointed and we won’t be returning.

Really lovely trip with friends to a really good pub with lovely staff and fantastic food that was with us so quick. We were seated straight away and was always served swiftly. Couldn’t recommended this pub more definitely will come again.

I came for dinner here with my partner this evening. We’re visiting the area, but work at a Vintage Inn ourselves in the East Midlands, so decided to try out the local whilst we’re here, and I’m so glad we did! All of the team were very welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was quiet when we went as we were quite early for dinner, but it had such a warm and cozy atmosphere, classic to a Vintage Inn pub. I went for the sausage and mash (which I wish we did on the vintage contemporary menu!) and it was fantastic! My partner really enjoyed his lasagna too. We both went for the banoffee dessert which was also great. Overall was just a fab visit, and a place we’ll definitely be coming back to when we return down south! Thank you again!

Been here several times , but just had the most diapointing trio of roasts , sent 3 meals back for being cold and the replacement wasn’t much better , poor presentation, portion size different from first to second attempt , items missing, anaemic potatoes - and the price was inflated due to the time of year. The location wasn’t very busy but clearly the kitchen staff weren’t prepared or didn’t care what was being served as this was no way near the previous standard.

Had Christmas dinner there. Very nice.

Popped in for a late Lunch and left enjoying the experience. I had the Signature Burger, which was one of the nicest burgers I've had for ages, whereas my Wife had the Pepperoni Pizza which was excellent. We were served by Petra who was very pleasant and efficient. This is a lovely venue with lots of charm, good food and service at a good price. Not sure why it isn't busier than it is.

Service is as good as ever. Food has lost some of its quality sorry to say. But overall a nice pub and reasonably priced.

Food well cooked and tasty, our waitress Charly was great helpful, cheerful & friendly.

Would have given 5 stars all round if only my veg was served hot and the carrots were not so hard to eat (not quite cooked through ) left feed back with manager who listened intently if they address the minor issue it would be faultless and perfect Had a steak pie with puff pastry, excellent and piping hot, just like a good pot pie should be Sister had hunters chicken, again very enjoyable Nice hospitable staff , and is a lovely warm atmosphere for a local country pub. As I live in the North West sadly I can't revisit so soon would however gladly fully recommend based on my own experience today

We enjoyed a relaxed lunch at the Crown. I had requested a table by the fire and the wonderful staff ensured the fire was roaring for us. Excellent service from Lisa who was attentive and friendly. The menu was super lots of choices for meat eaters, veggies and vegans.For starters we had prawn cocktail ( huge) and calamari; light crunchy batter. We enjoyed sea bass and lasagna as main. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. One of our party had the crumble and hot drink options. Still a good portion. A great venue to spend a few hours eating and chatting. Thanks again to Lisa for her service.

This my local restaurant and we ate there yesterday. Obviously chose from the menu with the price displayed. This morning I looked at my bill and found that, although there are prices on the menu, which I obviously expect to pay, we were charged an additional twenty percent VAT on top. Even on drinks we could have had at the bar What is this about?

The barstaff greeted with a warm and freindly smile and were helpful with drinks choices. The restraurant area is well laid out with a good mixture of tables for two, four, six and eight and our group of three were shown to a decent sized table for four. Charlie waited our table was polite, patient, very well versed with the menu and a joy to interact with. I wouldn't normally mention someone by name or go home and write a review straight away but felt compelled we were so impressed. The menu has enough choice to cater for modern dietary requirements with alot of it tailorable for intolerances and a separate card with all Vegetarian and Vegan options. It is not so large that it provokes confusion or indecisiveness. I was straight up really surprised at the standard of the food that arrived, I was expecting chain pub churned out grub and was presented with the best home cooked classy food that I have eaten in quite a while. Between us we had all three courses and sides and there was nothing put on the table that did not wow us. Don't tell them too loudly but the price was extremely reasonable as well proving that you can deliver special for pub grub money. I am glad we live nearby so we can take advantage of this place again.

We had such an enjoyable evening, the food was quite nice , service was quite slow at the start of the evening but the shining star of the evening was Lisa, our waitress. Lisa worked hard all evening, nothing was too much bother and through it all she was kind and polite. Lisa did not stop all evening and made us feel very comfortable, thank you Lisa 😍

Will come again. Sunday lunch very good and good value. A really good portion of turkey roast with veg and roasties and Yorkshire, gravy and baby sausage. Unfortunately no room left for dessert. We have also been here mid week for lunch which was excellent with a lot of choice. Service good and there is a nice atmosphere.

We went to The Crown for an early birthday lunch, mainly because we'd been there before plus I had been sent an email for a free bottle of prosseco. The food was very good as always. We both had the King Prawn Cocktail starter, the portion was very generous. My husband had a medium done ribeye steak and I had the Haddock kedgeree fishcakes, which were as tasty as they sounded. The service from our waitress Laura was very good. Unfortunately, Laura forgot to take the prosseco off the bill, which was a full 70 cl bottle, not the 20 cl I was expecting, and I was going to mark the review down to 4 stars, but the manager sorted out the problem without any fuss, so I left a very happy customer. We will be back and I would recommend the food and service at The Crown to anyone. Especially as it was a busy Saturday lunchtime!

A very friendly pub in the New Forest. We all decided on Fish finger sandwiches, which were served on ciabata with a tartare sauce filling, with chips, it was superb, very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We would definitely recommend a visit.

We went whilst on holiday at the CAMC nearby and we were not disappointed. The kids had pizza and me and the Mrs had the signature burger, which was absolutely fantastic! For pudding we had Eaton mess and the honey pot, which were lovely and surprisingly big portions, the kids had ice cream and a lolly. This is the second pub we had tried in the area and were initially put off by the 4.2 / 5 review, but it is not deserved. The food, service and atmosphere were all lovely.

Expenisive and small portions, but good service and pleasant ambiance.

Really nice environment, both in and outdoor seating available, plenty of separate spaces inside to have a more private area, would recommend booking in advance. Food was really tasty and the honey pot pudding was very intriguing but delicious! Has its own car park at the front of the building.

It was good I think the only thing we had a little struggle with was the comfort of the chairs. My wife has arthritis and for her the seat became more uncomfortable, but I am being petty it was really good thank you

We were staying locally and we were recommended The Crown for our evening meal. We booked in advance and also checked if the pub was dog friendly, which it was. We all sat in a designated area for dog owners which has bowls of water and treats for your dog. I chose the fish and chips which was a generous portion of freshly battered haddock, chunky chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. The service was very friendly and efficient. A great meal was had by all. There is a lovely garden area to sit outside on summer evenings.

We had a table of nine and the staff looked after us really well. Food was lovely and we all have a lovely time at our family reunion.

We had a lovely Sunday afternoon meal today. Plenty of outside seating in the sun, nice traditional country pub inside. The Fish and chips, Trio roast and kids meals were all delicious and all plates were left empty! Great deserts, friendly staff and fast service 👌

Great pub on the edge of the New Forest. Sign up on the app in advance and get money off your first meal. Quiz night was popular and the server was lovely. The pub is really dog friendly. So happy this is my local now.

We have been to The Crown before and had lovely food but sadly, last night was not good. The starters were lovely but we waited for nearly an hour for the main courses and when the finally arrived they were not good at all. The beef in the pie was chewy and gristley and the vegetables were cold and uncooked so the broccoli couldn't be cut. We sent it back and they reheated but the pie was not good. My seabass was very small and the sauce was very bland and the whole dish varied in temperature from tepid to warm. We didn't bother with dessert which is very unusual for us. The friends we were with have another booking with their whole family for next weekend so we are really hoping for an all round improvement for them. We won't be returning.

We visited mid afternoon on Wednesday. It was quite quiet by then. The food was lovely and the service was really friendly and efficient. It is a bonus that it's also dog friendly, so I'll definitely return with the dog!

Great bar/restaurant with lovely staff and reasonably priced food. The tables are set out in small alcoves which is perfect for someone with hearing issues as noise doesn’t travel throughout the restaurant. Nice decor perfect for the location and there is also a large beer garden. The food quality matches the price and there is a good selection on the menu. A couple of our party had fish which was over done, the waitress acknowledged and resolved the issue quickly. The other 6 dishes were lovely. I would recommend to others.

Terrible from start to finish. Asked for two high chairs as we have twins yes not a problem. Get to the pub and they only have one and said the other one will be with you when the other family are done eating had to wait half hour for the second high chair so not a good start. They said they only have three high chairs and they are all out. Why say when booking that two high chairs would be fine. Moving on to the meal it’s self. Worst food iv ever had. Chicken was like old car tyres the roast was horrible and dry and very salty. Staff where unhelpful and didn’t know what drinks they have for children. The child change area was just dusty and looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for months. But if you want to eat rubber chicken and bang your head on the super low hanging lights and eat in dirty area. Then go ahead. But I’m definitely not going back EVER

What a wonderful experience! Booked a table for 6pm for myself and my husband. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young lady named Charlie. She was bright and cheerful and very very helpful. We didn’t have to wait long for our main meal and it was superb! We would like to thank the chef and Charlie for such a wonderful experience. We will most definitely recommend to our friends and will definitely visit again. Thank you.

Food was amazing. Very friendly staff. Really nice inside, large dinning area with lovely oak beams everywhere. Sun was out so the garden was great for the children and dogs. Enjoyed it so much we returned the following day. Soft drinks were a bit pricey...

Found this pub on the off chance as we are camping near by and didn’t know the area, staff lovely, food beautiful, everything was Perfect and we couldn’t of asked for more, all staff very polite and knowledgeable about my daughters allergies, I’m guessing it was the owner we spoke with and she interacted really well with all my kids. Food was delicious, can’t say a bad word about this beautiful pub. So glad we found you. And the house white is lovely! Thank you for a lovely end to the first day of our holiday. ❤️
