Situated in a small business park, nestled in the South Downs, I visit this cafe several times a month. A very good menu, with a warm welcome, indoor and outdoor seating and pets welcome. Open weekdays until 2pm

Lovely service, real English atmosphere and realy good breakfast. We were to late for dinner when we came, but they fixed up something anyway and it was realy good.

Overpriced food. Pathetic portions. A huge amount of money for tiny portions of food. We went for lunch and came away hungry! Wouldn’t go back. Massage with Jane was lovely though. Lovely lady. We were here in October. This was a gift so I’m glad I didn’t pay!

We've been coming to this lovely old gastropub from time to time over the years and we have generally enjoyed our visits. Our last venture here was to celebrate the birthday of my mother. We were 10 persons, having booked in advance and we were shown to a long table in the corner of the main room. It was cozy but it didn't lead to our being able to talk easily during the meal to everybody. Our waitress, a Polish lady was excellent. Very friendly, helpful and prepared to engage in some light hearted banter. Some of us had starters, things like whitebait and prawn cocktail which were OK. For my main course I had the chicken pie with extra gravy. Delicious. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy their food although we wondered whether there had been a change in chef since we had last been here. Somehow, the food was slightly less impressive compared to our previous visits but we couldn't really put our finger on the difference. Mum finished with an ice cream and a candle and the waitress and owner(?) came over and sang Happy Birthday with us which was nice. All in all we enjoyed our visit in this old, historic coaching inn.

Amazing pancakes in terms of taste, volume of food and freshness! So many blueberries! Excellent value and to get a giant mug of hot tea for £1.70, and in a clean mug, is going to be a win in anyone’s book! Very happy i popped in during my stay at the travelodge. Thanks!

We drove 40 mins to get to the pub, and we met friends who drove 40 mins from the other direction. We have been once before, last summer, and were itching to come back. We had such a super evening. Staff very welcoming, a couple of fires alight to keep us cosy on what was a very chilly evening. Sometimes in establishments you get a menu where you might only fancy one thing, or on the odd occasion, you don’t really fancy anything. On this menu, I fancied everything. Between us we had king prawn starters, and then mains of calves liver, pork schnitzel (amazing), whole sea bass, cheese and leek tart. All met with approval. For puds I was too full, and as my friend couldn’t decide on which pud, I made her order the chocolate mousse, as had been recommended by a previous reviewer. I had a spoonful. Absolutely delicious! My husband had the churros, and others had homemade ice cream. We all had a great evening and it was well worth the drive. Thanks to all involved. We all thoroughly enjoyed 🙂
