What a gem of a place! Beautiful courtyard, very busy. The man serving was friendly we had a large cafetière and sat in the sun. Scones looked fab but we were out for lunch so didn’t indulge. Will definitely go again , a lovely place.

I very rarely write a negative review of any type but two visits to the tearoom in a week have been spoilt by the general demeanour of the staff . We arrived earlier this week when the place was virtually empty and neither of the two ladies acknowledged our arrival in anyway whatsoever. As the tearoom was so quiet, the atmosphere made us very uncomfortable. As Amberley is so beautiful at this time of year, against my better judgement , I redid the same walk with another friend today hoping that my earlier visit to the tearoom had been a rare one off. Everyone has the odd bad day ! Today the courtyard was busier but inside was quiet. Again there was no smile or word of welcome as we arrived - the two ladies ( one was the same as earlier in the week ) were very harassed and irritable . Scones hadn’t been delivered but availability of all cakes also dwindled to nothing over the space of the hour we were there! It was depressing - what could be a gloriously popular tearoom in an idyllic village is run by what appears to be a demoralised, worn down and downright miserable team ! Maybe the owners are at fault which is often tge case. Hopefully they will take note that their staff are very evidently unhappy ! The weather was great but there is a virtual black cloud hanging over the tearoom ….

Fab!! My partner took me here today. We had not booked and when we arrived there were many people waiting so were not sure would get a table. We were lucky to be given a table after a not too long wait. We were told there was a wait of 30 mins. for food ( understandably how busy they were) nice to be told and given the choice to wait or leave. Well - so worth the wait!! - Fish and chip - oh my how tasty. Had tea with our meal in a quirky teapot & cup and saucers added to the experience. Everyone else's food choices looked good as well. Lovely to look over the river, it was truly enjoyable and all staff were 100% even under pressure as so busy and I would say added to the experience. Well done, recommend. x

What a find. Having eaten lunch at The Black Rabbit my wife and I fancied an afternoon tea to round off our Wedding Anniversary. I Google 'local tea rooms' and up popped Amberley. A lovely village in the South Downs with a really old world tea room. Excellent choice of cakes and teas etc. Will definitely return even though we live in Emsworth. Very friendly mother and daughter owners with superb cooking. Even bought two slices of lavender shortbread home to enjoy later. Thank you for "being old fashioned".

We have visited before and really liked it however today we had a very different experience. There was only one lady serving, we had to ask for menus after being ignored. We then caught her to ask if there were any vegan options to which she abruptly replied no. There have been options when we visited in the past. We left and went to a very nice pub next door. I hope this is just a blip.

My partner and I were planning a walk over Amberley Mount and into Amberley village to this highly rated tea room. Well, we weren’t disappointed. As long as you’re aware that they only sell teas, coffees, cold drinks, snacks and cakes (no lunches or breakfasts), then you’ll love this place. The cream teas (both sweet and savoury) were divine, and the loose-leaf tea was one of the best we’ve tasted. A fantastic little stop (seating indoors and out) in the heart of the Sussex downland. We will certainly be returning. Great, friendly service too. Dogs welcome outside.

We stopped by as we completed the circular walk from Amberley train station. This was a fantastic place to stop for delicious refreshments. The tea was super tasty (especially the vanilla!) and the scones and cakes looked (and reportedly tasted!) divine. I had the vegan option, a flapjack, which was sweet and sticky. Perfect!

I was recommended this tea room recently and decided to try it while we were nearby. It’s a great little tea room in a former slaughter house with a smashing garden; We only had a cream tea each but there were plenty of variety of teas and a large selection on homemade cakes. Not only is it a great tea room but the setting is beautiful. After having some food take a stroll around the village and take in the character. Next time we will bring the dogs along as they are welcome inside also.

The staff then proceeded to bring me the colored cream and jam and no cutlery anything and place directly in the sun, gen 15 minutes later they bring the scones and again no cutlery and thought into what they were actually doing there and being paid for. I regularly go to Amberley Village Tearoom as the tea cakes are fantastic. They are home made and are simply the best. All the cakes and scones are great and the staff are so friendly and pleasant. The visitors book is signed by so many people from all over the world and is full of praise for the place.

Delicious scones, lemon cake, chocolate cake, fruit cake. I could go on, the selection of teas is very wide and coffees too. Service is always with a smile too.

We walked to the tea rooms form Bury, Lovely enclosed courtyard, when arrived many tables were occupied by cyclists and others. Friendly staff and the tea and cake were lovely, Really nice setting and attentive, helpful staff. The cup of tea was most welcome and I had a savoury scone with cream cheese and chutney, mmmm. Followed by the largest piece of coffee cake that we shared between three of us.We then wandered around the village, with the pretty cottages and visited Amberley pottery, a lovely place to visit. All in all pleasant afternoon

Beautifully decorated, delicious scones and friendly service. Nice little touches like locally handmade crockery to add to the charm.

Visited the tea rooms today with a group of 18, looking forward to their renowned scones. Very disappointing for all in group, scones were dry and tasteless - certainly didn’t taste fresh and light. It also appeared that someone had forgotten to put cheese in the cheese scones. Staff were advised that all were unhappy, but no offer to replace.

Situated in a small business park, nestled in the South Downs, I visit this cafe several times a month. A very good menu, with a warm welcome, indoor and outdoor seating and pets welcome. Open weekdays until 2pm

Overpriced food. Pathetic portions. A huge amount of money for tiny portions of food. We went for lunch and came away hungry! Wouldn’t go back. Massage with Jane was lovely though. Lovely lady. We were here in October. This was a gift so I’m glad I didn’t pay!

Food excellent, calamari, prawns and chicken and mushroom pie with crumble for dessert. Very comfortable and pleasant ambience, server attentive, polite and accommodating. Looking forward to next visit.

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.
