The best restaurants serving British food in Chiltern South East

We purchased a travelzoo voucher as we've never been to the restaurant before and wanted to try the food. Really pleased we did, the restaurant is lovely and we couldn't fault the food and service. Looking forward to returning soon.

What an excellent little quaint pub located deep in the depths of bovingdon. Didn't book a table as was a chance drive by spot and just managed to blag the last table by the bar for a lovely pint of carlsberg shandy. I tell you what pal, we didn't eat but the Sunday dinner looked absolutely scrumptious and left my taste buds tingling! Cookie the dog came to say hello and the toilets were absolute crackers.....proper back in the day marble urinals. We left with the smell of a beautiful log burner in the ode lungs.......ah bisto!

Enjoyed a gorgeous dinner with my family yesterday. The food was delicious, with generous portions, and the service is always so inviting with a smile. If you are a Liver & Bacon fan it’s a must order! My favourite place to eat in Amersham.

I would like to have written a positive review but having both called and emailed to enquire if they have wheelchair access and an accessible toilet I have had no response and will book elsewhere. I can only assume that they do not or they do not want my custom. Very poor.

Lovely pub for lunch after a walk in the beautiful chess valley Delicious food and cosy atmosphere. Also very friendly.

I would not choose to spend my money here again. Food- below average, service-ok, management- non existent. We were asked to leave our table due to another booking (despite having our table booked in advance for the entire evening), very disappointing experience and won’t return again

I love this place. It's not posh but the staff are friendly and efficient and the food is good value for money. It seems very popular and rightly so.

Another fantastic family meal served by Christina. Food and service was excellent, we ordered Focaccia and Pate starters and for main we had the Sirloin steak, Venison and Halibut, all perfectly cooked and served with delicious veg and sauce. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and good service and food.

It is closed, no longer a Pub, in process of trying to be a nursery. The locals are trying to stop this as it is one of the last oldest Pubs in the area. What a shame

During my recent visit to the Restaurant, I experienced significant issues with their customer service, which I feel compelled to share. Firstly, the allocation of tables was questionable. Despite visible availability of tables, guests, including myself, were made to wait unnecessarily. This left the impression that there was a lack of organization or a prioritization system that was unclear and inconsistent. Additionally, I encountered unprofessional and impolite behavior from a member of staff. Instead of addressing concerns in a courteous manner, their attitude came across as dismissive and indifferent, which is unacceptable in a customer-focused environment. Politeness and professionalism are fundamental aspects of the hospitality industry, and unfortunately, this staff member failed to meet those standards. Overall, the experience left much to be desired. For a restaurant to thrive, it must offer not only good food but also exceptional service. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving staff training and overall customer interaction. It’s disappointing to see such potential undermined by poor service.

Drive from Shropshire to collect some furniture pooed into the Deli for a truly Great breakfast, ordered the deli breakfast good had to leave a little, but it was good, bacon good, great sausage... couldn't fault it, coffee fhhhabulous... The tea, even made with tealeaves, both me and my mate didn't eat again for the rest of the day....great food, great staff, if in the area do it, you won't be disappointed

Spent a lovely time here having afternoon tea, celebrating a birthday. Beautiful surroundings and it all felt very special. Staff friendly, couldn't fault it.

Absolutely amazing hospitality, so welcoming and warm welcome. Landlady went out of her way to make my unwell mother in law comfortable. Food was amazing, fresh and tasty excellent portions , dessert was immense. Toilets and toiletries were lovely and clean Lots of little extras we were given and a great customer experience. X
