Amazing lunch ! We tried 8 of the small plates and ever one of them was delicious, perfectly executed and presented beautifully. The dessert was equally as good, doughnuts light and full of flavour. Just brilliant 🤩 Service and wines also exceptional - highly recommend this little bistro.

After seeing a recent Facebook notification that the Mangal was able to do gluten free fish and chips (as well as kebabs) the wife and I decided to give it a try as there’s a real struggle for decent fish and chips locally which are available as gluten free. We normally have to wait till we’re down the coast which is a shame. This is my first experience of the mangal and can safely say it won’t be my last, the staff were friendly and helpful explaining everyone to us, restaurant was exceptionally clean and from the look of the uncooked food in the fridge very well prepared and separated. Everything is made fresh for you when ordering gluten free and it tasted absolutely fantastic! The only downside is that I’m going to have to go on lots more runs to accommodate the extra visits the mangal is going to be receiving! Highly recommended

Had a great dinner here with Friends. Padron peppers as an appetiser followed by the Beef & Ale pie and the the Apple & Pear crumble with hot custard. All in all a lovely meal for a very reasonable price. The rest of the party had steaks or salmon with everyone saying how good the food was. Will definitely return

I attended here for Sunday lunch for my 90 year old father in law and husband. Food is always fantastic and it is obvious the team are of a high standard and work well together. I have visited here several times on my own and with friends and always notice how friendly staff are and eager to make you feel comfortable. Very impressed today with how a young female server dealt with a grumpy elderly female customer. She went above and beyond in her efforts to placate her. Amersham residents are very lucky to have The Griffin in their vicinity.

Had a lovely evening yesterday at The Square. Busy with lots of atmosphere, papas was delicious. My favourite dishes were Burrata beautifully presented and Whitebait. Loved the way you could order a couple of dishes then more as you wanted. Ample wines and spirits. It would be nice to see an alcohol free wine on the menu. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

I am normally a Greggs girly when it comes to a bacon roll, but recently I saw a sign at the pantry for “hot bacon rolls” and thought I would give it a try…and I was not disappointed! I managed to park conveniently right outside and went in to a calm, cool and cozy environment. I was greeted immediately and served quickly and my roll was amazing! Will definitely be returning 🙂

Dropped in after a dog walk and seemed lovely so booked out 21st anniversary dinner for Friday steak night. We took the advice and pre-ordered to ‘guarantee’ we’d get the cut we wanted and ordered two fillets. The order came through on email at £40 for two fillet steaks. I queried this at the time and was told that was out of date and it would be £50 total. Ok that’s fine - but update the confirmations. Anyway we arrived Friday, sat down, ordered wine and starters all very nice. Then it came to the main order and started explaining the menu. We explained we’d pre-ordered and were told there was only one fillet left. Ok, disappointed and negates the point in preordering but anyway I changed mine to a ribeye. Food came out and although slightly underdone for us (more blue than medium rare but that’s an individual chef choice) but the fillet was not fillet. It was rump or some other cut. Tougher, fart and with sinew running through it - NOT fillet. Ok it was taken off the bill but a pretty poor experience. If they’d not had fillet just say so, don’t try and sell something else as fillet - that really isn’t acceptable. Anyway great for a pint and a snack but didn’t feel the staff were very welcoming or charming and overall disappointed. That all said - great selection of drinks and lovely old style country pub but we’ll stick to a pint and skip the dining.

I would like to have written a positive review but having both called and emailed to enquire if they have wheelchair access and an accessible toilet I have had no response and will book elsewhere. I can only assume that they do not or they do not want my custom. Very poor.
