Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The food was absolutely excellent - although very limited for me as a vegan. But staff were really accommodating and couldn’t be more helpful. And it’s the staff that really are the stars here. We chatted to one young man who was incredibly helpful and also surprisingly knowledgeable about the Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple films (some of which were filmed here!) and he couldn’t have been nicer. Then there was Kate who waited our table. Hands down the best member of waiting staff I’ve ever experienced - anywhere. Helpful without being overbearing. Genuinely friendly. And able to anticipate our needs without us asking. Setting, ambience, food and staff: all excellent. We WILL be back.

Went to this bakers having had the Rye bread at a friend’s house for lunch and thought it very tasty and light in texture. Since then I have visited several times sampling Belgian Buns and Croissants not forgetting other types of bread. All products of a very good quality and well priced. Service provided by a young, friendly helpful members of staff. Quality exceeds what I have had previously at chain baker franchises.

I took a friend today who was blown away by the quality of the food, he has eaten in top restaurants all around the world and couldn’t be more complimentary about this Bistro. The service, ambience and food were extraordinary. I’ll be back

What an excellent little quaint pub located deep in the depths of bovingdon. Didn't book a table as was a chance drive by spot and just managed to blag the last table by the bar for a lovely pint of carlsberg shandy. I tell you what pal, we didn't eat but the Sunday dinner looked absolutely scrumptious and left my taste buds tingling! Cookie the dog came to say hello and the toilets were absolute crackers.....proper back in the day marble urinals. We left with the smell of a beautiful log burner in the ode lungs.......ah bisto!

I would like to have written a positive review but having both called and emailed to enquire if they have wheelchair access and an accessible toilet I have had no response and will book elsewhere. I can only assume that they do not or they do not want my custom. Very poor.

I would not choose to spend my money here again. Food- below average, service-ok, management- non existent. We were asked to leave our table due to another booking (despite having our table booked in advance for the entire evening), very disappointing experience and won’t return again

We had a fantastic lunch at the Full Moon just recently. My wife and I both had a delicious home made Chicken and Leek Pie, followed by a lovely Treakle Tart. The Full Moon is a cosy and inviting pub with fantastic food and very welcoming hosts. I high would highly recommend coming here for lunch, dinner or just a drink! Certainly would make a fab stop off after a walk or a great place for an evening meal.

Despite living in the area for many years and visiting the griffin for lunch and dinner, somehow, this was our first time trying the renowned roast and it was pretty great. We were a little concerned having booked a 4.30pm slot that maybe the roast wouldn’t be at its best but we had nothing to worry about. We had the sourdough with dill and jalapeño butter then venison croquettes and fish cake before the main event - the beef ribeye with scrumpet roast. Nicely accompanied by cabbage, carrots, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding, extra crispy roast potatoes and gravy. We really loved the way the veg was presented on a sharing board. We spent so much time sampling all the veg and saying how wonderful it was that we realised we hadn’t even tucked into the beef yet. Every element of the roast was great, they brought us extra gravy upfront and we couldn’t finish all our potatoes or cauliflower cheese it was that filling. Often roast dinners are quite standard in their execution but the Griffin isn’t that by any stretch of the imagination. My only wish was that we had more beef per serving. The staff were lovely here too and asked our thoughts on the dill and jalapeño butter as the chef was keen to take feedback on it which is an added nice touch, making diners feel genuinely included in a local establishment. We will definitely be coming back and trying the pork and chicken roast next!

Absolutely amazing hospitality, so welcoming and warm welcome. Landlady went out of her way to make my unwell mother in law comfortable. Food was amazing, fresh and tasty excellent portions , dessert was immense. Toilets and toiletries were lovely and clean Lots of little extras we were given and a great customer experience. X
