Great Missenden Fish Bar And Mangal in Chiltern

Our family decided they wanted a takeaway from the ‘new place’ in Great Missenden. With that they meant the Fish Bar and Mangal 😃. We can highly recommend if you are looking for friendly and fast service and delicious food prepared right in front of you. We will most certainly go back. Oh and ‘mangal’ means a Middle Eastern barbecue used to grill a variety of succulent meat and roast vegetables. Their decision to combine this with the more traditional fish and chips is really clever! So please give them a try - you will not be disappointed. We tried the chicken shish kebab, wings, spicy lamb skewer and fish and chips. Everything very yummy and decent quantity also.

We always order takeaway from here almost every week. The wraps, mixed grill and the fish and chips are our family favourites. This time round we decided to eat in following a trip to the local park. The customer care was excellent. Very smiley friendly faces. The food is freshly cooked and portions are good. The eating in experience was really good, the food was well presented and fresh off the grill. The Mangal itself is very clean too. Positive experience overall. It’s only small a shame they don’t have the donna kebab options.

Quite simply the most delicious fish and chips I have ever eaten! Plenty of it too. Non greasy, crispy chips with fluffy insides and light, crispy batter on moist, tasty fish. Even the salad was tasty. Friendly and welcoming staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks... if we're down this way again, another visit will be high on the list!

We get fish and chips, or wraps from this place regularly. The food is delicious, generous portions and they are lovely people. Highly recommend.

Great chicken wraps freshly cooked to order, delicious fresh and vibrant salad too, lovely friendly staff, and very clean. Would definitely recommend and come back again, wish it was our local takeaway 😁

Got to Great Missenden a bit earlier than expected, and Betty’s Van had not yet set up shop for the evening, so thought I’d try here. I had the mixed shish ( no doner on offer ). So so, decent salad and bread but kebab very average. Good service. Will stick with the excellent Betty’s in future .

I saw this place open up a few months ago but didn’t think it looked like my kind of thing; however, my local fish and chip shops are crowded and v v long waits so I thought I’d give this place a go. It’s got a lovely interior and the staff were so welcoming and there was lots to choose from (even a vegan option for me!) Everything was prepared with care and packaged really well. It felt like a real treat! Ok, so I was a bit taken aback by the price but when I got home and we ate the food we realised it was well worth it. So lovely to get a little piece of lemon and pot of tartare sauce for the fish and chips and my falafel with hummus and salad was great (and I’m not a falafel fan usually, but these were really good!) I’ll definitely be returning but might have to make it for special occasions just because it’s a bit pricey for me, but I’d definitely recommend it to others.

A handy little place for lunch if you're visiting the Roald Dahl museum. Very friendly staff greeted us in a lovely, warm place (really welcome on a cold wet day) and let us choose a table. Menus arrived quickly to reveal a good selection of food. Not a massive list but everything you'd expect of a fish/Turkish restaurant (except perhaps baked beans but we'll survive that one). Food was delivered good and hot very quickly. Well cooked and delicious. Toilets were clean. Really happy with the visit. Will definitely go again next time we visit the museum.

Newly opened almost a year ago this is a popular Fish and Chip shop near Gt Missenden Station Very busy when we visited early evening and clearly popular A fairly small compact former shop premises with takeaway counter and eat in facilities Our first visit but will be back - the best crispy battered fish and carefully cooked chips possibly ever ! Food is cooked to order so a little patience is needed - the wait was however well rewarded in flavoursome food Not licensed so soft drinks, water tea and coffee only Excllent value - our meal cost only £23 for two with large portions of fish and chips with salad garnish, mushy peas & water and mugs of tea Very polite and considerate service The Turkish offer is relatively limited to various kebabs and sauces but we left them for another day Do give it a go !

best kebab in local area, the staff will look after you and guaranteed big portions. The mixed kebab is unreal, drive 20 mins just to go there

Food is amazing and the interior is modern and very clean. The fish and chips is probably the best I’ve ever had and the kebab’s are far from ordinary. Defiantly a restaurant serving fast food not the other way around.

very tasty kebab wrap and coffee, this was my first visit and I hope to visit soon. very close to train station and free parking available as well.

Had returned again after trying their mixed kebab, wow utterly delicious, so this time decided to try the cod and chips, very impressed, the batter and the chips where to crispy, good sized portions too. Shall be returning to try something else from their menu, so far they have been consistent with quality.

So glad this restaurant has opened in Great Missenden, although what a time to open a restaurant! We used to get our fish and chips from Amersham, but this place is even better. Really good fish, perfectly cooked, with arguably the lightest batter I have ever had. And a warm and friendly welcome from the team. Very very good indeed. We wish them all the very best of luck and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. They deserve every success.

Nice decor and clean restaurant. Mangal (Turkish Barbecue) it isn’t! Very dry and tasteless chicken kebab. Shop bought chilli sauce and yoghurt sauce. Chips were acceptable. I’d maybe come back for Fish and Chips but would never get another kebab from here again. Eating in is an expensive affair, much more expensive then a takeaway, such as shame as I would have been a top customer if the food and the cost were reasonable.

I travelled several miles based TA and Google reviews and we got the best chips and crispiest batter on the fish! All food is freshly prepared and portions are very generous! There is a friendy vibe between the staff and customers - definitely going back...

Best chips ever, and lovely pukka steak and kidney pie which was very meaty. Very friendly staff and the whole establishment including the toilet was so noticeably very very clean. What a refreshing change!
