We had a Travelzoo voucher for a 3-course meal. Booking was polite and friendly. Plus confirmation email (bonus as sometimes I forget)! Staff were very attentive, and all questions answered in a very courteous manner. Meal and drinks alike were superb. Would definitely go again.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The food was absolutely excellent - although very limited for me as a vegan. But staff were really accommodating and couldn’t be more helpful. And it’s the staff that really are the stars here. We chatted to one young man who was incredibly helpful and also surprisingly knowledgeable about the Margaret Rutherford Miss Marple films (some of which were filmed here!) and he couldn’t have been nicer. Then there was Kate who waited our table. Hands down the best member of waiting staff I’ve ever experienced - anywhere. Helpful without being overbearing. Genuinely friendly. And able to anticipate our needs without us asking. Setting, ambience, food and staff: all excellent. We WILL be back.

We have not visited the restaurant for 5+ years and had happy memories of a ‘fine dining’ menu with a touch of flourish. Clearly things have changed recently as the current menu has none of the dishes mentioned in some earlier reviews. The restaurant is well presented but the tables are bare, no tablecloths. The laminated menus list all the dishes you would expect in a pub chain bar menu (check the menu on this website for details). The chicken liver pate looked as though it had been pressed onto the plate from its plastic holder- a shiny, unappetising oblong saved by the chutney that accompanied it. The main courses were all reasonable if uninspiring and the deserts followed suit. If you want a pub meal in a slightly ‘upmarket’ location and are not expecting anything special this is the place to go. NB-Most customers appear to take advantage of a TravlelZoo discount-apparently this is a 2for1 offer - we missed it!

Lovely relaxed meal, excellent food at sensible prices served by friendly staff. So much so we are bringing American friends here later this week!

TripAdvisor offer bought at Christmas. Very good value. 3 courses for 2 people for £39. 1 large glass wine. 1 medium glass and 1 cappuccino plus service was £59. All the food was excellent. Ample helpings and good service. Set in a lovely old building. Car parking on site. Nothing to fault.

We visited The Wyvern Restaurant using Travelzoo vouchers, choosing a main meal and dessert each. Great service (thankyou Nellie) and really tasty food. Would happily pay full price for this quality and will be returning. Sorry we missed out on the Valentine's set menu which looked amazing.

This is the restaurant of the Kings Arms Hotel. We booked with a Travelzoo meal voucher at very short notice (15 minutes !) and were treated like valued customers. Attractive old dining room, linen table napkins. Attentive courteous waiter (from Peru). Generous portion of whitebait for starters, and then a proper beef and ale individual pie. Very tasty, and attractively presented (but unpretentiously). Ample parking in the rear courtyard. We would happily return and pay full price.

I was staying in the hotel for business, and was looking forward to a top quality dinner. Even the menu left in the room showed great promise. However, after I was seated, I was given a completely different menu, with only a few basic options, and told that even some of those were not available. The server was very apologetic, and said that the head chef had gone. I would like to compliment the server, and she even gave me a glass of wine on the house as consolation, so all credit to her. If I had been warned that they were not fully operational, I would have chosen one of the many other alternatives in Amersham. It's a shame, because I think it could have been good. I don't like to write negative reviews, but on this occasion I must.

We had a lovely Afternoon Tea with friends and family to celebrate my kitchen tea. The food was delicious and included scones with cream and jam, chocolate cakes and fresh sandwiches. The tea was also very lovely and we overall had a great time! We were lucky to be looked after by Eddie, and he also let me choose the music which was such a nice touch. I would definitely recommend having an afternoon tea here!

Chef Sonakshi visited our table to explain her special! What a treat to get such personal service. She advised her starters which were in a word outstanding for presentation, taste, and enjoyment. We ate from the starters no main course. We ordered the Raspberry Cheesecake for dessert and she knew it was my birthday and sent a most wonderful plate with a specially written birthday message. Watch out for this lady I think she is going places, her food is an art form

My daughter and I spent a lovely, unhurried afternoon enjoying the Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were tasty and fresh, the scones lovely and light and the cakes delicious, and to finish a mini Eaton Mess. We took some of the cakes home as we were both so full (they looked so tasty we obviously couldn’t leave them!). Super afternoon tea, excellent friendly service and lovely old building full of character. We will definitely return!

We've been to this restaurant twice and each time received impeccable service. Eddy has a great sense of humour and is attentive. The food is lovely, a little on the hot side for me and not too much choice if you have intollerances, but it's presented beautifully and very tasty. My husband and friends had 3 courses each and enjoyed each course very much. We'll be back again!

Booked for a table of 3 friends. When we got to the restaurant waiter informed us that there was a function taking place in the restaurant so he had taken the liberty of setting a table up in the bar, relight next to the roaring fire which was just perfect ! I need more than five stars. This place has to be on your bucket list. What this chef Sonakshi can do is miraculous. From the same raw ingredients most of us can find (aubergines, risotto rice, cream…) she creates works of art – presented like the treasures they are, tasting like you’ve gone to heaven. I’ve eaten at some high-end restaurants here and abroad but this is now among my top three. Aubergine falafel, lamb (I haven’t tasted lamb that only tasted of the quality lamb it was), red pepper risotto, Eton mess, frozen pistachio (how has she done this? I’m in awe.) ‘Yeah, had that’ you might say No, you haven’t! Not like this. I imagine her carefully seeing to every detail of these before they leave the kitchen and I can’t praise her talents or the food enough. (I haven’t got enough space here for a start!) Waiter Eddy (Eddie?) was marvellous too. Just the right combination of attention, reserve, humour, helpfulness, chattiness mixed with and utterly professional approach. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m already planning my return!

When I come across talent like this, I have to tell everyone. This should be the yardstick by which to judge all food. Excellently attended by Eddie who was knowledgeable and available yet discreet at other times. He had clearly tried everything and could answer everything I asked. Despite this, nothing prepared me for the taste, texture and presentation of what we ate. Between us we had curried parsnip sop and aubergine falafel. Well, yes I could taste parsnips and some lovely spice but there was something else pushing the flavours forward, rounding them out. And the falafel! Beautiful in appearance, off the chart with flavour. Then the red pepper risotto. While there weren’t any pieces of red pepper that I could detect, the whole bowl was seemingly infused with the flavour – it was a delight. And the little cauliflower toppings! Such knowledgeable matching of foods that match and completement each other. My husband has never tasted lamb like this. Room for dessert? Naturally. With the experience of two exquisite courses of that calibre behind we weren’t going to be dignified and refuse. So it was tropical Eton mess and pistachio ice – this is how to impress someone who’s been raised on good food! (The daughter of someone who ran some of London’s top restaurants.) My husband’s dessert (chich I had most of) reminded me of the best Indian sweets I buy in Southall (possibly pistachio barfi?), so delicate and full of taste. The portions of everything were just right and our plates were embarrassingly clean. Once in a very long time do we talk about food over a number of days – this is one of those times. Respectful and faithful to every ingredient, coaxing the best out of them all, Chef Sonakshi has the world at her feet and I should imagine every opportunity open to her: well-deserved. These creations are without compare and deserving of many, many stars. I know we’ll be back and don’t know how I’ll wait!

Great little gem of a Restaurant, located at the Kings Arms Hotel. First class food (firecracker chicken and Hake was sublime) and first class service. Special mention to the Restaurant Manager Eddie, who's attention to us and the other diners was exemplary. Maybe update the interior a little and you would have a restaurant as good, if not better than many in Amersham.

Food quality was beyond expectations and the restaurant manager was a lot of fun and really added to the atmosphere!
