Checkin - told breakfast up to 8:45am Booked through hotels.com - clearly states includes breakfast. Room. Small but not too bad. Evening meal. Waited a fair while for table (place wasn’t busy) Girl who checked me in asked me for £50 deposit for any damage I might cause as I checked the menu. Didn’t like that. Meal was good. Came down in morning for breakfast and the whole place locked up. No one around from a decorator. He seemed a bit bemused by the place tbh. So, no breakfast. Went back to room and did some work. Came back down 8:45 just in case the girl had said breakfast started at 8:45. It didn’t. No one around. I phoned the 2 mobile numbers on the wall for out of hours (2 of the 5 or so owner friends who clubbed together to buy the place). No answer either time. Left one message. No calls back. Went to my first meeting and came back as I’d stupidly left my phone in rooms a staff member was in courtyard and let me in. I said to her about no breakfast and she said ‘they don’t do breakfast any more’ If I’d know that I wouldn’t have booked. I would say the staff were rude. But they weren’t great either, or that bothered really. I’d definitely recommend avoiding this place. Not sure if it’s lazy or if success is too easy or what it is. But this place really annoyed me - I try to stay away from chain hotels at least some of the time as they’re often very expensive and just the same as each other. But then you stay somewhere like The Plough, and you wonder why you bother.

Today I had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Bell Inn Pub for their Sunday Roast, while visiting friends in the neighborhood, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The star of my meal was the roast chicken – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The perfectly seasoned to my taste and crunchy (not overcooked) vegetables - carrots, green beans, cabbage and baked potatoes, paired harmoniously with the chicken, making each bite a comforting delight. The gravy was delicious, delicately balanced and smooth, complementing both the chicken and veggies. Another highlight was the Yorkshire pudding and not just for its size (huge!)) and original shape. Light, airy, and golden-brown with a crisp exterior, it was, without question, the best I have ever tasted (no kidding). To finish, the chocolate cake was a decadent dream – impossibly rich, and deeply chocolatey, topped with a scoop of velvety ice cream that melted into a perfect pairing. Each mouthful was pure bliss, a sweet end to an exceptional meal. My special thanks go to Izzy, who served us, a very polite, thoughtful and professional young girl with a great attitude and charming personality ) I'll definitely visit again this place and recommend it to my friends for great food, cozy atmosphere and a very nice crowd. Their Sunday Roast was a culinary experience that left us fully satisfied and eager to return. Five stars all the way! PS loved the fireplace next to our table, makes a perfect attribute for a winter lunch or dinner.

Visited with my daughter and dog today for a light lunch after shopping at Bicester village. We had a wonderful friendly welcome to the pub and were able to choose where we sat. Food and drink service was quick and the food was hot and tasty - the lunch menu of a wrap, fries and a drink was well priced. Service was excellent and friendly. On top of all this the pub was really dog friendly with a “dog menu” with chicken breast, sausages and burger bites all v reasonably priced. My dog went for the chicken breast and she loved it! Would definitely return again when in the area. So nice to feel so welcome

Been coming to this pub for years, ‘nowt wrong with spoons’ Management and all the staff Dona great job, Yep as with every spoons it’s cheap and cheerful, gets far too busy and you wish there was more staff. Full of locals which can be an issue especially at weekends but all in all it’s a lovely pub with a nice history Breakfasts- which is all I’ve ever really eaten here apart from the odd curry club are filling, cheap- fiver! And served quickly, what. Ore can you ask for Great for some ales- me and the boyfriend love their guest ales and ipas. Today we’ve tried the exmoor beast and exmoor gold- both went down well, and for £1.99- that price is a steal. Go on spoons, you do yourself proud!!!!!
