Had a lovely meal on Sunday 1st March, visiting my son over the w/e, we all had the lamb shank and was lovely, the meat was cooked to perfection and had roast potatoes and a large serving of vegetables, cauliflower cheese, sliced carrots and cabbage and gravy, service was good too, was asked if meal was ok. Would recommend this hotel.

I booked a room for a number of colleagues visiting Bicester and unfortunately, I really do wish I'd chosen somewhere else. I've dealt with 3 different members of staff across multiple channels (website eform, email and telephone) and I'm told my query has been passed to a manager. I've been met with failure to complete promised actions or ignored communication, one rude staff member and no answer to my question.I booked 3 rooms requesting payment on check out and a VAT receipt for all charges, neither happened.I received 4 charges to my credit card, the 3 rooms booked and a mystery charge. I contacted the hotel and asked for the VAT receipts and was told they'd send them that day - nothing arrived. When I got back in touch it was suggested the receipts were emailed over and could they have gone into my spam folder? no they didn't.I was told they'd be sent again and as part of that conversation I asked what the 4th charge was for. 3 of the VAT receipts arrived later, but nothing for the mystery charge and no explanation, so I called. I was assured the query would be passed to a manager and I would receive a call back before midday the following Monday explaining the charge and supplying a receipt - safe to say, none of that happened.I've followed this up with a further email and have received no response at all, I've tried calling again, multiple times with no answer. To date, The Kings Arms have charged my credit card with no explanation and no receipt. They've failed to complete the promised call back and I'm now left feeling like I have to visit in person and stamp feet until someone can explain why they have my money - which I will.Very, very poor customer service. I can't recommend the hotel, but I can recommend you book elsewhere - I will be from now on.

Visited upon a recommendation, we sat in the small bar area. We ordered a burger and a cottage pie. We paid extra to have cheese on the burger, burger arrived with no cheese burnt and inedible. Explained this to the tall brunette man when he collected plate (as no one bothered to ask us how our meal was). Showed him how burnt it was and he went "okay" and walked off with plates. No apologies just lack of care. Shocking service and basically paid for a portion of chips at price of a burger. I am very disappointed!!

We booked for Sunday 1st December for 36 people. We arrived and were greeted by the staff and Manager (Sheila & John). We first had pre drinks in the bar and then made our way through to the restaurant and our seats. The table was set superbly and the decorations were loverly. Right through our 3 course meals(s) the staff were brilliant and nothing was to much trouble, they even allowed a family member to dress as Santa and hand out presents to all! The food was fantastic along with the staff certainly first class from us all. Many thanks from the Bentley’s/ Grant’s/ Chamber’s/ Porter’s/ Huntley’s/ & Hendrey’s.

As a restaurant, The Kings Arms may be great but as an hotel, it leaves quite a lot to be desired. Both our room and our daughters room had taps that swivelled to the point of the spout not being over the basin! Both also had 'centre' lights in peculiar positions in the room and not in the centre. This wouldn't really matter if there were other lights in the rooms, but there were no bedside lights, floor lamps ....nothing. Also no bedside table on my side - I wear glasses, so they had to go on the floor. Our toilet seat also swivelled 90 degrees when you sat on it. The shower was off the bath taps so not very powerful, although lots of hot water, which got unbearably hot, obviously when someone used the cold water elsewhere. Was very keen to have a cup of coffee on arrival, so pleased to see a machine in our room. Until I went to fill up the water reservoir which had a low level of water in it with a grimy tide line along the top. The empty pod dispenser was also full, so couldn't put in a new pod until I'd emptied it. The cooked breakfast wasn't too bad, except for the anaemic toast which looked like it had never seen a toaster. However, the help yourself drinks, pastries etc. were dire. The croissants and pain au chocolat were stone cold and rock hard and the coffee was a cereal bowl of Nescafe coffee granules and an urn of hot water! All these issues are fairly small and relatively inexpensive to fix - a couple of table lamps in each room, a coffee machine at breakfast, showing the pastries the oven. Unfortunately, the combined niggles mean I won't be staying there again. Next time I visit family in Bicester at Xmas, I will be staying at the Premier Inn.

Good early check in and free parking so could leave the car at the hotel and walk to the shopping outlet. Nice 10 minute walk to get there, very easy to do. All staff friendly upon check in. The room itself was very dated. The sash windows were difficult to open with one string snapped on one side of each window. The main room light had one bulb out and one side of the bed the plug socket didn’t work and the extension cord provided didn’t work either so no bedside lights available. There was only 1 pillow on each side of the bed which seemed slack for a king size bedToilet was an old school style and took a long time to fill up after each flush. The wallpaper was also falling off the ceiling in the bathroom. Breakfast included in the room rate was good. We didn’t have dinner there but we went to the Indian across the road which was nice The room itself was clean and for a shopping trip to Bicester the hotel is ideally located however next time we’d probably stay at a chain hotel which is more modern and everything works

Visited on a quiet Monday lunchtime. Service was slow and the main meals left a lot to be desired. Two of us had scampi and chips with the worst mushy peas I have ever tasted. My wife had steak ciabatta which was almost red raw. By the way there is a set priced lunch and if you have scampi you get less than of the a la carte menu! Would be a good idea to mention that on the menus. Our second round of drinks never arrived. I fail to see why staff walk past when it is obvious that you have finished your meal and I know that I am in a minority but my wife and sister in law are not guys! I do not think that I will be visiting again in the near future.

Stayed here after a trip to Bicester outlet village which is close by. Really old building so I knew this would be quaint. Our room was a decent size up a twisty wonky staircase so no good for disabled or young kids really. Nice furniture and tiny shower room. Obviously been a leak as stain on ceiling and room needs painting. No pictures on walls and the attention to detail from handyman is missing as stain on carpet and whilst I appreciate the old radiator probably doesn’t work the replacement electric one is so badly installed. The tv wires are a mess and toilet seat is too small for the toilet. Shower pressure is poor so you spend ages rinsing hair. Breakfast was good and downstairs bar and dining area nice. Parking is free in their car park. It’s a really good spot in Bicester and could be a great hotel if a little more care was given by whoever does maintenance.

Non existent and unfriendly service and food took forever to come. We enquired about the scallops before ordering as planned to divide that starter. We were told 4 came only to get 3 which were shriveled up with burnt bacon on top! Second plates even more disappointing. The Caesar salad was probably the worse ive ever had. The jug of Caesar dressing tasted nothing like Caesar and was not a dressing rather more like cement. And the anchovies listed in menu were nowhere to be seen....most miserable looking salad... The risotto was the only dish that was nice apart from the lack of Parmesan which when we asked for it got brought a thimble full!!! Very disappointed with whole meal

The eating area is fine, well appointed and the staff are friendly and obliging. However, we have been disappointed in the past (once only bottled beer) and last time we went the main course of chargrilled chicken was two mouthfulls, not even a starter. We did not complain as it was busy for Christmas, but the waitress at the end knocked 15% off the bill.

Went for an Xmas lunch with 4 friends. I have eaten there several times in the past and the food has always been great and the service fast. Today, however, was a disaster. We all sat there in our coats and when I asked at the bar if they could turn the hating up, I was advised that there wads a problem with the central heating. The young lady did her best and put a small fan heater by us but because the room is so large, it made very little difference. The only person that seemed to be working in the restaurant was the Manager who obviously does not have a lot of contact with the public judging by his attitude. The food arrived and although the actual meal was hot enough, the gravy was cold so we asked for more gravy to warm up the meal. I think I was just given the same jug of gravy back and it hadn't seen the microwave. If, when we walked in, they had told us that there was a staff shortage and the heating wasn't working, we could have gone elsewhere and I would have gone back to The Kings Arms in the near future. As it is, I am unlikely to choose to eat there again after the terrible service, cold food and cold room. There can be no doubt that the Manager was aware that we were no happy and an apology for the cold food and room would have been the least we expected.

Walked in to the entrance of the restaurant and stood next to a till waiting to be seen. It got off to a bad start when the waitress didn't seem to want to walk over and greet us, so instead shouted across the empty restaurant if we wanted a table. After ordering four drinks, ten minutes later I was asked what I wanted with my large vodka - I'd asked for a large glass of red wine, the Rioja. One of our party ordered a whiskey specifically without ice, came with ice. Shortly after getting a replacement, we ordered our food and didn't have to wait long for the starters which was good. Aside from having to ask for butter twice, that went fine. When they bought out the mains, one of our party had had fish cakes for starter, and then was presented with fish cakes for main, when he'd ordered fish pie. Of course we highlighted the mistake, and they took the meal away. No apology, or explanation of how long the correct meal would take. Over twenty minutes later when, the rest of us had just about finished eating, a fish pie arrived, again with no apology. Once we'd all finished and asked for the bill, it said fish cakes main and not fish pie. They'd decided to let us save the £1 difference... I explained I was disappointed that they hadn't removed it from the bill and asked to see the manager. I was told I could go and see the manager in the bar in the other room if I wanted! I asked for the manager to come to our table, and a few minutes later was told the manager was too busy to speak to us! Which is even more surprising when there were less than 10 customers in the whole space...terrible customer service. I'm not even sure if the waitress spoke to the manager, as when we were leaving the bar staff (which I assume included the manager) were all smiles. It's such a shame when the food itself was good and reasonably priced, but the disgraceful service ruined our experience and we would definitely not go again.

Food was well presented but dreadful. Chicken in the roast was under cooked, Gravy consisted of less than a teaspoon full of bad tasting paste. Couldn't eat the roast potatoes, they appeared to be reheated and had an odd taste. The filling for shepherds pie was ok but the chef clearly hadn't bothered to mash the potatoes thoroughly or brown off the cheese on top. We have just returned from an over night stay at the Kings Arms Hotel and it was very enjoyable. The location if the hotel is perfect for Biscester village - wish we had checked in first as we were give discount vouchers on arrival but had already done our shopping! The free hotel parking is really convenient too. We had a little walk around Bicester which is lovely, especially the market on a Friday.

I took my son here recently for his favourite cake (carrot cake). The two waitresses Rebecca and Denise could not have been more friendly and helpful and they were superb with my son. Cake was lovely too!! Will be going back soon.

Using the photos as a guide I decided to book a room for one night at £53 through Expedia I expected a little more than I received, if I had known that I was going to end up in this hovel I would have booked the Travel lodge. Freezing room worn out bed TV that doesn't work dirty window ledge damp smelling hovel. Advertised was all rooms come with breakfast included this was not the case ( if room is anything to go by i'm glad I went else where).Hearing "oh your in the budget rooms" implies that there are better rooms and I am sure they are delightful, this hotel made my top 3 hovel list and I have stayed in some dumps. Make sure you are aware of what you are booking with this on or you might end up a little disappointed.

Met friends for lunch and most had the lunch deal of 2 main meals, from a selection, for £14 and two had the fish finger sandwiches. All were amazing value and good sized portions. The sandwiches were proper doorsteps and came with chips and a side salad. It was very busy but the waitresses were lovely and attentive. Looking forward to returning.

This hotel and restaurant have been refurbished to a very high standard. It is an extremely attractive place to go for a meal. The food is good value and available all day in to the evening starting with breakfast. You can also just pop in for a very good coffee and perhaps a cake! The staff make you very welcome as they are friendly and helpful. There is a little parking but also a public car park a few minutes away. The menu is good value for money and the lovely decor makes you want to relax and enjoy your meal.I would really recommend it.Guests can stay overnight, and from what else I have seen of the hotel, I think the rooms will be of a similar high standard.

A group of 10 went for a works leaving do. The food was lovely and the service was impeccable. The waitress was brilliant. Steak was cooked well and the 2 for £10 cocktails went down a treat.

Treated my mum to afternoon tea for her birthday. Booked a couple of days ahead (a small deposit is requested) and a table awaited us set with white linen and a lovely Irish member of staff ready to serve the tea.

I went with a group of 28 friends for a Christmas meal. The pub is nicely done out and spacious. We all had a 3 course menu which was excellent value at £15.99. The food was served nice an hot and they managed to serve all 28 of us quickly. All was good quality for the money. All the staff were excellent and the service was great. I would recommend and I will return.

A group of 28 of us had a Christmas meal at the Kings Arms last night. The set menu was very reasonably priced (£15:95 for 3 courses), well presented and delicious. Service was prompt and efficient and the tables looked really festive with mini Christmas trees and crackers. Best of all was the staff who were really welcoming and went out of their way to make it a great evening for us (special thanks to Sheilagh who was exceptional). I wholeheartedly recommend this venue!

Went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The menu is varied with quite a few choices. It was quiet on the day we went. Food was good and service was ok.

We’ve always enjoyed visiting the cafe, unfortunately today we made the mistake of booking a table for lunch. The cafe had plenty of free tables, but we were made to feel very uncomfortable when we asked if we could move to another table? We were told they get very busy over lunch and because we were a couple we couldn’t sit on a table of four? Interestingly no other customers were asked to move and subsequently couples entered the cafe sat wherever they wanted!? We were asked when we left if everything was okay, we raised the situation with the member of staff, she just tapped her wrist? Totally spoilt our visit, made us feel undervalued, unwelcome and ruined our experience. Might benefit this particular staff member to undertake some customer service training? The food was exceptional, the environment is wonderful. Unless you are a larger group, don’t book a table just arrive early!

We stayed here for a pit stop overnight when visiting family in a nearby village and this place didn't disappoint. We received a very warm welcome from the landlord and landlady and check in was a breeze. They have a great selection of alcohol and it was really pleasing to see a village pub so busy. The building itself is stunning and much larger than I thought it would be with an extended restaurant and outdoor area with seating. The room had everything we needed for the night, including a bath and a shower and it overlooked the town square which was nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly. Our room was number 2. The breakfast menu has something for everyone with a selection of cooked and non cooked options and you can tell quality ingredients were used. It was a shame this was a flying visit as the the evening and Sunday lunch menu looked fantastic and we will be sure to try these on our next visit. Overall we felt very welcomed and the pub has a very homely feel to it, we will be sure to stay again next time we are passing.
