Went to The Plough with 50 family and friends for a day after wedding ceremony lunch time party. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff were very efficient and attentive with the chef Jamie preparing a buffet of butter chicken rolls, fish finger rolls, beef burgers, roast beef yorkshire pudding wrap with gravy and plenty of delicious chips! followed by a selection of beautiful desserts. I recommend you visit this pub in the heart of Bicester and you will not be disappointed.

Awesome Sunday lunch & the homemade desserts were just fab, I had the peach cheese cake. Not just served as a slice on a plate! but in a glass with a nutty crumble , charred peaches absolutley lush 😋 cant wait to go back. Also we were a table of 13 & all meals & sides came out promptly together. Great service.

We booked 2 rooms and stayed for 1 night. We wouldn’t recommend staying here. Didn’t have soap, shower gel, handwash or regular coffee sachets provided when we arrived so asked and were told they weren’t available (handwash eventually provided at 10pm). The miniature toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion) had been used before and were half full. We stayed on a Tuesday so there was no food available in the pub and breakfast was a sub-standard breakfast box. When booking, there was nothing to say that there wasn’t food available and breakfast was a supermarket-style plastic wrapped croissant, yoghurt and fruit to be eaten in the room. One room had breakfast boxes left from previous guests so had to ask for fresh boxes, the second room had no breakfast box so we had to ask for one. Wi-Fi didn’t work throughout our stay. Central heating not on and electric oil radiator button symbols had worn off so had to google to find the instruction manual to get it to work as there were 6 buttons! Tried to contact general manager to discuss but they aren’t responding so they clearly don’t want to apologise, or admit there are issues with their service.

On face value this seems like a nice Oxfordshire pub. The rooms are reasonably well decorated and clean, and the place has the feel of a pub nestled in the Cotswolds. The problem is it doesn’t serve food on some nights of the week, or breakfast each day. There was no central heating, only an electric heater with all the instructions worn away and weekday breakfast consisted of just a croissant, jam and a bit of fruit. A bit of a let down for the price.

Don't you just love parking tickets for both of us have a drink and a catch up. Be warned the pub is a hotspot for parking fines. Cost us over £180 for an hour

Went here to meet up with friends from school as one of them visiting from New Zealand. What an incredible place ! The interior and outdoor garden are so tastefully equipped , the staff could not do more for you, but maintaining a discreet distance , the food was amazing ! Amazing selection of cocktails , drinks and the food choice was unbelievable. Our celiac guest actually thought her meal must be for someone else as it looked so devine and she said she had never tasted better. The landlord and landlady really went all out to make us have the best evening ever! At the end of the evening settling the extremely good value bill we paid a little extra to show our appreciation, the waitress discretely took a member of our party aside to point out it was over the total and was genuinely grateful at the tip, no expectation! An old Bicestarian i, will definitely travel the 40 mins to come back on a regular basis. If you haven't tried here before i strongly recommend you do!

A group of friends suggested The Plough for a midweek evening get together. Having been previously during the post Covid eat out to help out, which was disgusting, I was sceptical about going. The pub itself hasn’t changed much inside, it is nice. We all ordered different mains from the menu and all said how fantastic the food was! I had the seasonal chicken pie and mash and it was lovely! Small plates were also an option (small plates of typical pub classics) but they too were of a reasonable portion size. Friends enjoyed fish and chips, sausage and mash and macaroni cheese and all plates were cleared! The only down side is there is not a massive amount of choice for vegan options. The man that served us was really helpful and liaised with the chef as to what one friend could have, she had vegan sausages and she said they were delicious! I would eat here again 🙂

Wonderful Sunday lunch in beautifully renovated surroundings. Roasts were cooked to perfection, wine, beer and cocktails as good as you can get. The teenagers burgers passed too. Price and quality exceptional.

Traditional pub about five minutes walk northwards from the main town centre. It is probably the nearest pub to Bicester North Station. It's a characterful place with old stone floors and fairy lights, which add to the ambience. There are two distinct sides either side of the bar, one of which has a raised area. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is very basic here - this isn't the sort of place to come for that special meal, but what they do, they do well. The menu basically consists of Fish & Chips, Sausage & Mash plus a range of sandwiches and that's about it. But the food we had was very good - my Fish & Chips was beautifully prepared: a succulent piece of white fish in a nice crispy batter with well prepared chips and mushy peas. The locally brewed Wriggly Monkey ales were going down very nicely then we were gutted to be told by staff that this was the last batch as the brewery had just ceased trading. I do hope they can find a good local beer to replace this.

We attended our first experience at Jacobs Plough yesterday, which coincided with us watching Fawlty Towers later that evening. The coincidence is uncanny due to a series of episodes we experienced when dining that we could not help but look at it with humour. Given the opportunity to resume dining indoors yesterday we thought we would give it a try. Firstly they did not take a drinks order or bring us the menu....where’s Manuel when you need him. The menu arrived and it was explained to us all the items with a pink mark if off the menu. The choice was severely limited as if Basil typed it himself. You could imagine Sybil in the background puzzled as to why the menu was short. Limited to burgers/sausages we had little option so decided on two chicken burgers with guacamole. The meals arrived with one burger and chips and one plate of chips only !! Puzzled we asked where the other burger was ??? They forgot to make it !! For one minute the waiter could have been the forgetful major !!Anyhow it duly arrived minus the guacamole. How difficult was our request 2 chicken burgers with guacamole. You can visualise Manuel getting a slap for this ! A dining experience never to be repeated again....just don’t mention the war !!

Came with some friends to get dinner and some beer- seating was a-ok, the host was nice but our waitress seemed a bit short and pre-occupied the night. Ordered two different cask ales, both were unfortunately flat as can be. Food seemed a touch too expensive for what we got (Not too much!) and the choices of appetizers/desserts if feeling a bit more hungry was not all that awesome.

I visited the Plough for the first time today with family and I was blown away! The interior is beautifully decorated, tasteful, modern and extremely comfortable. There is plenty of seating in tucked away corners and thoughtful touches such as faux fur chair backs, low lighting and hooks on the table edges for your handbag! The service is excellent and all of staff are attentive and very friendly. And then there's the food... Absolutely delicious and so wonderfully presented. I chose the goat cheese salad for a starter, followed by the roast beef dinner - the roast potatoes were perfect - For desert, I had the best bread and butter pudding I have ever eaten!!! Huge compliments to Chef John :) For all of you fellow dog owners, the Plough is also dog friendly! By far, the best pub in Bicester... Don't change a thing :)

Overpriced for what you get, food was not very hot & mediocre. Sirloin steak sandwich £25 for 4/5 very small pieces, £7 for a portion of lukewarm fries. Service charge 13.5%, not worthy of this.

We stayed here for a pit stop overnight when visiting family in a nearby village and this place didn't disappoint. We received a very warm welcome from the landlord and landlady and check in was a breeze. They have a great selection of alcohol and it was really pleasing to see a village pub so busy. The building itself is stunning and much larger than I thought it would be with an extended restaurant and outdoor area with seating. The room had everything we needed for the night, including a bath and a shower and it overlooked the town square which was nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly. Our room was number 2. The breakfast menu has something for everyone with a selection of cooked and non cooked options and you can tell quality ingredients were used. It was a shame this was a flying visit as the the evening and Sunday lunch menu looked fantastic and we will be sure to try these on our next visit. Overall we felt very welcomed and the pub has a very homely feel to it, we will be sure to stay again next time we are passing.
