My wife and I popped into the Jolly Thresher for a 29th wedding anniversary lunch and we had a lovely time. The food was really lovely, freshly cooked, generous portions and piping hot. It was well worth the money. The drinks were very fairly priced, the Chilean Chardonnay was really good wine. We enjoyed the ambiance of the pub and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and recommend 100%.

Sadly, we are unable to give a positive review for our dinner today, Easter Sunday. There were five people in our group of which 4 opted for a starter. The prawn cocktail was refreshing but the chilli beef nachos was poor. The chilli beef was lacking any beef. Four of us chose the roast beef which the menu said would be served pink - one well done slice of beef was served on top of a large Yorkshire pudding in which, under the slice of beef, there were vegetables. We all had 2 roast potatoes, a teaspoon of mashed potato, cabbage and carrots - everyone had differing amounts of each vegetable. The whole dinner was swamped with gravy, making the Yorkshire soggy. The small fish, when served look big but the batter was only half filled with fish. The batter was inedible soggy and oily. One of the group asked for crème brûlée (which wasn’t even on the menu published 2 or 3 days before - it replaced bread and butter pudding). After in excess of 25 minutes there was no dessert and we had to ask for it. The order had been forgotten. All in all this was a disappointing get together dinner for my family and we could not recommend the Church Green.

Sunday roast took 1hr 15 to come out. 5 minutes longer and I would have just left. Beef overcooked, potatoes reheated, vegetables tasted cold as if from frozen. £18.50 I can overlooked a lot of things usually but the delay just gives me time to think about how annoyed I am. Wasn't particularly busy and there seems to be plenty of staff. So why is it that it takes 10 minutes to bus our table? Why then do I have to track down a staff member for the bill? Because they're all chatting around the bar? It's a shame because I have been here before and the food is usually good. The wait however is always an issue.

Busy restaurant. Always a good sign. Lots of very able staff so no waiting around. Thanks to Kelly for her friendly, pleasant service. I went for Tuna Mayo sandwich on Seeded Bread. Very generous with the filling which was appreciated. This came with fries & a pot of delicious Coleslaw which was one of the nicest I’ve tasted. Treated myself to dessert which was Apple Pie & Custard. Excellent! Bottled water to drink & all this for less than £20. Very reasonable in my eyes & wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

Came in Tuesday 15th April 8pm for something to eat and was pleasantly surprised that food was being served and a fairly busy pub with atmosphere. Great food and fab service.

I have stayed here 3 times in the last 2 months ! Menu basic , always with fries , slightly over priced . This place could and would be a great place to eat if the menu improves.. Staff are ok some friendly and some not so friendly. It has always been clean(no issues there ) ! Who ever is the proprietor is (YOU NEED TO PULL YOUR FINGER OUT AND GET WITH YOUR CLIENTS REQUIREMENTS) Thank you Ps There is a McDonald’s and Greggs , however if you want something decent, this truck stop is truly lacking 😔
