This was a great restaurant, with seating and tables inside and casual bench seating outside. There was a great range of home cooked food, from meals, soups and sandwiches and various ice creams. We opted for a toasted lunch, and my choice of scrambled eggs with bacon and mushrooms was divine! The mushrooms were perfect - some restaurants serve them soft and watery, looking like they have been cooked earlier and kept warm - these at Sextons were excellent, fresh and full of flavour. Best of all we got the warmest welcome and the staff were very attentive and helpful. A call out to Sarah, who was an excellent host and a lovely, welcoming person. Thank you for a super visit. Difficult to leave here without a bag full of stuff. The Cheese & Leek pasties are delicious...I always grab a few frozen ones, so handy to have in the freezer, and ready in half an hour when needed. The choice of Danish and other pastries is vast...with Rhubarb & Custard being firm family favourites. Staff are efficient polite and friendly. Just the best bakery in area by far.

I don’t often write reviews but having been to Sexton’s twice this weekend, I couldn’t wait to brag about it on here! So I’m a self-confessed coffee snob. The kind that refers to instant as “brown water” and has to instruct the baristas as to just how to make my perfect Long Black 🙄. It’s annoying and vaguely pretentious I know, but I am just THAT fussy! Whilst enjoying a weekend canal cruising (what, middle aged-middle class, me?!) we stopped off in Lymm for succour and sustenance and stumbled upon Sexton’s, quite by chance. Dubious as I was to start, the impressive queue at the deli was enough to reassure me that it must be at least alright. The current Mrs S greeted us with friendly efficiency and we took our seats by the window. When we ordered a variety of bacon sandwiches and coffees from her, I proceeded to say that I wanted a double shot and described my perfect cuppa. Mrs S gently recommended that I trust her with her caffeine creation. “I’m so fussy!” I protested, but she reassured me and said that I could have another on her if I didn’t like it. Well reader, I needn’t have worried, Mrs S is a true caffeine connaisseur! I had a perfect, and I mean PERFECT, Long Black to accompany my toasted bacon, tomato and avocado sandwich. Mrs S then treated me to one of her famous affogatos, just for me to try! We were so impressed by Sexton’s coffee and hospitality that we determined to return the next day for ice cream. I was excited to walk in and feel the buzz and busyness on a Sunday. I could see the staff were busy so was waiting patiently with my friends until we were seen to. This only took a few minutes until Ms S junior (generation 7, I’m told!) ushered us to a table and took our drink order. But before I could get mine in, her mum came over to me brandishing a hot cup of my favourite coffee. I didn’t know that she’d even seen me come in! Now, I am IN LOVE 😍! That level of customer service is rare, so special these days. Thank you Sexton’s for making our holiday even more special. I can’t wait to come back one day 💕

We go to Lymm, by boat, usually once a year and stay for a few days. I can honestly say that Sexton's is the best bakery I have been to EVER. The staff are friendly and tge bread and cakes top notch. I especially enjoyed 3 lovely salad bowls during my stay in Lymm, whilst hubby loved the pies. The ice cream is superb, locally made and we loved tge pairing of pink lemonade sorbet with liquoriche and blackcurrant. On a very hot day we also loved the lemon, cucumber and mint cooler. If you're ever in Lymm do visit Sexton's....we might even come back by car, it's an hour away from home by road! Well done to all at Sexton's.

baked potatoes ordered from here a couple of times and each time the potatoes are not cooked through they were hard, there is hardly any fillings in them and the food was luke warm. not what you would expect at the prices they are selling these potatoes for, this ust to be a very good family run business with good quality food and value for money. this however is not the case now

Visited here as a family. Initially was ok and nice products / cakes / bakes. Lady in our party asked if there was a toilet and the owner was some what sharp and said there wasn’t a toilet and they were not a coffee shop (even though there is seating in there and it says coffee shop on the door …). We sat down enjoyed our drinks and food and I noticed staff looking over angrily just because the kids were laughing. Not great hospitality and didn’t seem to like children in there. Shame as the food and bakery products were very good.

We came with our baby this week and whilst the food was good, I felt like an inconvenience with a pram. The staff didn’t try to help to seat us and make room for the pram, thankfully a couple moved tables for us so we could fit it in. I had to ask twice for a jug of cold water to cool my babies bottle and when it came was given a tiny milk jug. Finally there are no baby changing facilities which meant my husband had to try and squeeze the pram into the toilet and change the baby in there which wasn’t ideal at all, several people walked in whilst he was doing it. Shame - lovely place but needs to be accessible and accommodating for all.

Having come for the Christmas festival we expected everywhere to be crazy and it was! On entering the cafe we could see that it was really full and the lady told us that we were fourth in the queue. Whilst waiting the staff were absolutely lovely, laughing and joking with us whilst continually checking on the restaurant to see when our table would be ready. As soon as a table was free we were sat and served within minutes. The drinks came very quickly and the food wasn’t far behind. Everything tasted very fresh and was delicious! This could have easily been a very manic experience and I would have understood if the staff were stressed out but I’ve never felt so relaxed and welcomed in such a busy cafe! Sextons opens for breakfast at 8.30am, so we were able to stop here before heading out of town on a weekday. The pay and display carparking just around the corner is free for up to one hour, perfect for breakfast at Sextons. There are no granola, muesli or porridge type options on the menu, which we are always looking for. Rather it builds on the bakery’s breads, and cooked breakfast options. I enjoy toast and marmalade for breakfast - I was offered a choice of breads, and was pleased when the marmalade came out as it was chunky and tasty. They were also happy to top up the marmalade when I had used it up on the first slice of toast. My family chose vegetarian cooked breakfast options (eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes) which certainly looked appealing. I would avoid having coffee here in future, but my husband ordered tea and said that that was a good tea. So we will all go for that next time. Friendly, helpful staff and a clean toilet opening right off the cafe at ground level add to the positives. You will find it difficult to leave without taking home one of the very tempting treats on display in the bakery cabinet!

It was very refreshing to chat with the owner, as you find in most places they're too busy. For dessert my wife was unsure of what she could have, so the owner led her to the counter and showed her what she could have. Called in for something to eat after a lovely stroll around Lymm Dam, decided on bacon & sausage barms, a latte and a Diet Coke. Diet Coke arrived lukewarm, I asked for ice but this never materialised and we asked for well done bacon. Barms arrived with no butter and flaccid bacon, the sausages were a very dark colour and quite obviously overdone as they were crispy. We sat on the tall stools by the door as this was the only place available, this meant that the waiting on staff either put the plates of food on the table in front of us or keep knocking into me as they repositioning their plates so they could pull the door. Maybe saloon type doors would be more appropriate or at least door opening outwards so the staff don't have to struggle with plates of food.

We only called in to get a couple of pasties for the toddlers (3 and 4 years old) who were hungry after a science session in the Village Hall. We ended up with pasties for them and steak pies for myself and my son. The cafe was quite busy, especially so for a very cold Friday morning. When we sat by the Lower Dam to eat our pies and pasties we realised why it was busy; the food was just perfect! The pies were the sort one only usually dreams of with perfect pastry and succulent meat and a gorgeous rich gravy. The pasties looked equally good, but the girls ate them all themselves!

Called in on a Sunday morning about 10.30, place was busy but there were still tables (staff clearly trained to encourage reasonably quick turnover). Service was good, cappuccino was more of a milky coffee with foam on top, teacake was on the small side and quite 'light' but otherwise ok. A lot of customers were clearly calling in from long distance cycle training rides or families and were mostly in for the cooked breakfasts which are clearly popular. The loo was clean but quite small and, given that the place was busy, there was often a wait to use it. There are tables outside that are clearly popular with dog walkers. Staff were working hard but still seemed efficient. All in all, it was fine for a quick coffee but I might try one of the other cafes next time I'm in Lymm.

My nan used to work here years ago. The day of her funeral we came here for the shortbread bears. Mum said they were just the same and had not changed the recipe.

Not only can you eat here you can buy the best baked produce that you'll ever want. A well established bakery in our village and surrounding areas. The lunches and coffees are lovely. It's only a small place so be early.

We went to sextons to grab a coffee but when we saw the selection of pastries, we realised it would have been rude to leave without sampling one... at least one!

We went to Sextons for brunch one Sunday morning, the place was full which was good to see. The lad that served us accidentally spilt milk on the table and the floor he proceeded to clean the floor with his cloth and to our shock then cleaned the table with the same cloth!!!! The food was good when it finally arrived and although I didn't get what I ordered it was very tasty. We bought sausage rolls from the shop and they were delicious.

Lunchtime visit. Very busy but fortunately a table soon became available . Staff were excellent. They were friendly, cheerful and very helpful. Food and coffee were fresh and delicious . Came back later in the afternoon to buy bread and cakes from the bakery and the lady behind the counter was again very friendly and very knowledgeable of the good variety of loaves available. Highly recommend both the cafe and bakery and we will definitely return.

Great cafe, friendly staff. Had a drink here on Saturday, its best hot chocolate i've had anywhere, delicious. My husband said the same about his hazelnut latte.Would definitely recommend this place and will be going back to try the food, as it had good selection to choose from, good prices and looks tasty. They also have a bakery, again the cakes, bread. etc look very good.

Another cracking meal Having had a really enjoyable visit with my parents last year we returned on a Sunday evening. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and received excellent service. I had a burger again which was cooked nicely and had great flavours. The bun was a bit dry though. I had it with truffle parmesan fries and they were great. My Mum had mixed grill hanging kebab. All really good quality meats. She swapped fries for a portion of garlic broccoli. My Dad opted for the roast again and that was also fantastic. Clean plates all round. Previous visit: Absolutely banging prime cheeseburger! One of the best tasting beef patties I've ever had. Thick and juicy with superb flavour. You won't find a better one in Warrington. Really high quality meat. The bun was nice and the sauce was tasty too but didn't need quite so much of it. I like a messy burger but it was slipping out of my hands. The triple cooked chips were fluffy and crispy and just about the right size portion considering I had the rib starter on the side too! They were delicious as well, nicely seasoned and the right amount of sauce on them. I was disappointed that the pulled pork burger addition wasn't available but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The service was great too, really pleasant staff. My Dad enjoyed the roast and my Mum really liked the teriyaki fish kebab. Closer to a fine dining place but not overpriced for the quality of the food and service.

Birthday Meal for the wife who had a fillet steak I had a ribeye both of which were cooked to perfection, the chips were huge and very tasty. Size wise they were on par with the stones at stonehenge, nice to get proper sized chips. The wife also had a side salad which unlike most other places contained more than just lettuce. A bottle of Waddling Duck Sauvignon Blanc and Orchard Thieves cider for me which made for a great experience. We thought it couldn't get any better until the sweet came out, a cherry cheesecake but no ordinary cheesecake. The chef had made a large cherry out of the cheesecake mixture with a red glaze and a slither of chocolate for the stalk and placed on a biscuit base. Overall a very good experience, from initially walking in to walking out all the staff were very helpful, smiling and never in your face. We'll be back on Saturday.
