Accommodated our large family party, very friendly staff. Food was excellent. A bit expensive but great for a special occasion.

How this restaurant gets away charging the prices it does for the appalling quality of food it provides is beyond belief. I had the teriyaki fish kebab, which cost just under £19. When it arrived at the table, the waitress made a big deal of pouring the garlic butter over the single skewer kebab and chips. When I removed the items from the skewer I was appalled to find o there was only 3 or 4 pieces of dry tasteless fish and a few vegetables on it. At least the chips were nice. Last time we'll visit this place, terrible value for money.

Food excellent as usual, really hot which I like. Staff and service great. Always a good atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous Sunday sharing platter, the tastiest we've ever had and we've had a lot!

Called in after watching John bishop at the parr hall I can honestly say we had an amazing time here fantastic customer service Anna was amazing so friendly and helpful a real asset to the business food was fantastic thank you chef I’m just sorry I don’t live nearer this would definitely be my go to place thank you everyone who works here 👍👍👏xx

Friendly, helpful staff and meals were ok. When we said one of the party had a garlic allergy, we were told everything in the Sunday lunch contained garlic! Noe of the three of us that had the sunday lunch could taste any garlic in the vegetables. Changed to a fish kebab and when asked for it to come without prawns, were told they come with prawns already on the skewer! Frozen? This dish had no taste at all and very disappointing. Sunday lunch was ok but belly pork could have doone with a little more cooking to give a crackling rather than fat. Beef very good. Have had better. Liked the decor and the people, who were freindly and did their best, but based on the food, will not be returning.

Went here today for our first time for lunch with our daughter, who works in the square & has been here a number of times , firstly its quite an impressive building, especially inside, the service and the food is excellent , would highly recommend this restaurant, we will have to come back for an evening meal

Completely underwhelming!! Seated at 7.45 no offer of drinks just menus. Getting to 8pm so decided to go the bar ourselves and order a drink. Menu pretty rubbish so went with Sunday dinner. Has to be one of the worst I've eaten, seen some pubs do better. Beef fatty, everything else luke warm at best. Pudding menu basically ice creams jazzed up. Wouldn't return!

Came for en evening meal however ended up ordering the Sunday 4 meat roast for 2. The food arrived and looked lovely however unfortunately it was very cold. The Gravy was barely warm which was a tell tale sign this food had been left to go cold whilst it was finished. The staff were really helpful and apologetic offering bread whilst we waited however it's still extremely poor to not be able to serve up a warm Sunday roast on a Sunday.

Patronising and rude waiter repeatedly making the same uncomfortable jokes even after the hint was given.

Always a fantastic time for any of the multiple times I've visited here. The food is beautifully made and the staff are brilliant and friendly. The new additions to the menu are lovely too 👍🏻 making it harder to choose what I want to have next time I'm there!

Just been here for a meal with my husband and the food was absolutely fantastic, as was the atmosphere and the service. Music was great too, especially if you like 70's and 80's music. We even got a free bottle of wine in the January offer and the early bird offer just £19.99. Will definitely be returning, would recommend this to anyone, though the tables were just a little too close together for comfort, otherwise perfect.

I was travelling for work in the North West. I had spent a lot of time researching the best hotel and restaurant combination, as I could have stayed anywhere on the M6 corridor. I went for Grill in the Square as it had an excellent menu and great reviews. I went to dine alone. I had a friendly welcome and got shown to the bar. I decided what to order and then waited for the barman to serve me. He was talking to the couple next to me for ages, so I didn't get served. Got shown the table, sat there for 10 mins without an offer of a drink or even water. Eventually, someone came over to ask if I was ready to order food, so I said I would like to order water and a drink first. When I placed my food order, I was advised that they didn't have my first choice of dish. I was OK with this, so I asked for a couple of minutes. Then I was left for another 10 minutes while they all brought out food for another party, so for the first time in my life, I left a restaurant because of service. I have worked in the food and drinks business for 17 years and have eaten out extensively. I have also eaten out solo many hundreds of times. Just because you are busy and I am solo, it doesn't mean that the basics of offering water should be missed. I have had such bad service as a solo customer. So I made my apologies and left, without drinking anything.

Called in for lunch ordered a fish finger and steak sandwich, i was asked any allergies i clearly stated Dairy and said again no butter on the fish finger, my food came and it was covered in butter, the waitress was shocked and said she told them, maybe kitchen staff need to go on training. I was given a refund sadly wont go back. PLEASE TAKE ALL ALLERGIES SERIOUS

Spent an evening on a work related trip. I was so glad I decided to try it. I had the set menu which was two courses and great value. The food was cooked perfectly. The service was personal and friendly. I recommend.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary afternoon tea on 7 February 2024 and found everything to be superb.

Had a booking for a weekday evening, there was a kids birthday party but noone else. The atmosphere was great, service was professional and fast, and we got a bottle of the house's wine for free. Everything was nice, but the food. I had a babyrib which was made well, but the mac and cheese served with it was cold and tasted weird and maybe a bit old. The coleslaw was almost like cut cabbage in water. I might try this place again on a busier weekend to see if this was just an unlucky day for them as I've read so many great reviews.

We were recommended to try The Grill on the Square by a colleague who lives in Warrington, and we are so glad we did! Situated in a cosy and beautiful square, almost hidden from the city centre hustle and bustle, the grill on the square looks fantastic both inside and out. We were warmly greeted and offered some drinks whilst we perused the menus in the bar area. The server brought our drinks over and then took our food order. In no time at all we were shown to our table and to my surprise our starters were laid out waiting for us which was a lovely touch. We had ordered from the set menu, and both the starters, mains, and sides were absolutely delectable! Absolutely fantastic quality taste and presentation. The refreshingly attentive staff brought our meals out and asked if we wanted anything else during our meal and also brought over a complementary bottle of house wine, which was a fantastic surprise. I cannot fault the grill on the square and thoroughly recommend it. The waigu croquettes are phenomenal.

Very nice, service was great, fish pie was a bit more mash than the husband would have liked otherwise we loved it, I liked that we were told about the optional service charge too and it wasn't hidden, we will be back.

Not crazy about the red lighting. I had a rib eye with garlic parsley butter and it was pretty tasty.

Came here from a family recommendation for the lunch menu. Wow! This place is amazing. Service spot on, welcoming and cosy atmosphere and stunning restaurant in general. Food is out of this world and such good value. I had the haddock and chips. Absolutely delicious and can't wait to return again over the festive period

Brilliant evening meal, high standards, great food and the staff very attentive. I would definitely recommend. Oh and the onion rings and warm scotch egg were awsome !

The food was the worst part of the experience, seafood was undercooked and the langustine oozed black stuff so was inedible. The hanging kebab was lacking in meat and seasoning. I was still hungry afterwards. The presentation on both plates was also very simple, no garnishes or side salads. The dessert was excellent though.

Gorgeous, just perfect, I had the Seafood Royal and the flavours were exceptionally good and my husband said the steak was really good too. The service was fabulous and will definitely be back, thank you xx

Dimly lit, perfect for couples on date night! We had the set Menu of Wagyu Bolognese Croquettes followed by the Steak and Eggs. Both were exceptional. I will definitely return.

Wow ! I have to say that was truly delicious. I love cooking Sunday Lunch , but just fancied a break from cooking. That was so enjoyable, and the desert was beautiful. Roast chicken dinner, and the strawberry vanilla slice Lovely service too .

The food is excellent but not pretentious and the standards don’t fluctuate at all ( Iv been going for years) They also make an excellent old fashioned if you’re partial to such things. The place has never disappointed me which is rare considering as i can be a grump at the best of time and Im used to good food.

I've been here a few times previously and always enjoyed their food. Came here on Tuesday as a big group of 25 people. We had pre-ordered our food to make it easier, and when we arrived there were multiple copies of everyone's names/orders which was very efficient. I had the beef starter which was really nice. Thin strips of battered beef with salad. For my main I had the cheeseburger which as always was really nice. Meaty juicy burger with plenty of cheese in a really nice bun. The thin fries that came with it were also really good. Considering how many people we had in our group the food all came out in good time and was hot. And the service through the whole meal was very good. Definitely recommend this place and I know we'll be back again.

We opted for the 4 meat sharing roast and it was the best. You got lamb chicken beef and pork with all the trimmings. It was honestly the nicest roast dinner we’ve had can’t wait to go back already.

Looking at the other reviews this seems to be an outlier so possibly a bad meal as a one off or maybe we have overly high expectations. Staff - 10/10 Choice 10/10 Staters - ribs/buttermilk chicken. Both great The mains we were really disappointed - especially for the price tag. Rib eye - no flavour, broccoli with chilli and garlic, no chilli and garlic Seafood Royal - sea bass filet arrived broken up not as a fillet, scallops undercooked, squid greasy/partially battered. I shared the feedback with the manager who kindly took a drink off the menu - but I was surprised he stuck his fingers in the food to check it at the side of the table … also a hint if you take the food to the chef to show him -customers can see into the kitchen. Sorry £100 + bill not justified for us.

Great place and the food is sweet had steak in the past and recently a hanging kebab before going to see jimmy carr at the parr hall and the kebab was so tasty i could have had it again.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with my friend and our mothers. On arrival we spoke to a young lady and gave her our reservation name and time and was told one minute. After being stood at the front for about 5 minutes the waiter who thinks he’s something special came over and said to YES to us in a mood, like we had just walked in and stood there without saying anything which wasn’t true as we had already spoken to the young lady. Once at the table, the young waitress asked if we would like water, we said yes but as our mothers are from the older generation, they asked for tap water but the waitress did not hear the request. When the bottled water arrived, my friends mum asked if it was tap, but the misunderstanding was all good, no issues we just said the bottles waters fine. But it wasn’t fine as the waitress must have told the rude arrogant waiter from earlier the situation with the water (even though there was no situation). It was then when the arrogant waiter came to take our food order, we realised the young waitress must of complained about the water situation to him as my mum said “oh I cant read the menu I’ve forgot my glasses” to which the waiter replied sarcastically “do you want the prices reading out?” Obviously, a dig because our mothers had questioned the table / tap water. Soo rude! I would have made a complaint then, but I was out with my mother for a nice meal and didn’t want to start so I just left it. At the end of the meal and after paying while walking out the sarcastic and arrogant waiter stopped us mid-way walking out the restaurant in front of all the other diners and accused me of not paying the full bill. I had to prove I had paid in full and in fact I even left a tip. No tip should of even been left as the customer service was disgusting but like I said our mothers are from the older generation and always tip. The waiter did try and resolve the situation by giving us a free shot but damaged had already been done.

The brunch menu is immaculate, I can't wait to eat here again. The servers are wonderful and I think that the chefs are *chefs kiss*. Most of all, the pints were great as pictured. Lovely spacious garden area to enjoy a good pint or 8.

My wife and I stumbled across Grill on the Square when heading for the train. What a fantastic find! Excellent food. Excellent selection of wines. Excellent service. We will be back again!!

My first visit to The Grll on the Square for dinner on 23/08/23. Loved the ambiance of the dining area. Our meal was fabulous! Food was amazing! Waiter was friendly and efficient. We will be back very soon! It is now our No.1 place to dine.

Decided to try here as it's close to our new office location - and we were not disappointed! Plenty of variety on the lunch menu, food portions were great, reasonably priced, and most importantly, very tasty! Staff were also friendly and helpful. We've already made plans to return asap! Would be more than happy dining here prior to an event at Parr Hall too!

Booked here blind really, not from Warrington. Thank goodness we did. One of the best meals out for a very long time. The staff and service were amazing. A lovely greeting as soon as you walked in. Staff were very attentive with a good sense of humour. Starters were steak tartare, which was gorgeous, and Tempura prawns and salt and pepper squid. Batter was light, and the prawns and squid lovely and soft. Mains were meat hanging kebab with garlic oil to pour over and half lobster, both really, really tasty. We will definitely be returning. Can't recommend highly enough.

Food very nice ,but the fish Friday deal is 12 till 3 so again if your working full time you can't get this deal.very un fair deal for the full time working person , looks like all the deals are for the retired, part time workers or unemployed

A gem of a restaurant in Warrington. Dinner tonight was so tasty - Kedgeree Scotch Egg and Fish n Chips. Chefs did a great job - food so tasty and beautifully presented. Service was also great and made us feel most welcome. Thanks to all who made it a great experience. Would highly recommend it to all. We will be back for sure!

I was here as a vegetarian guest for a friend's birthday. I am fully aware that the establishment specialises in meat dishes, but my meal did taste quite bland considering the cost. I ate a kale rigatoni and it was a bit disappointing to be honest. Service was spot on, I just personally wouldn't return to this place unless I knew they had a bit more character in their vegetarian options.

Style over substance on our visit I'm afraid. Heard a lot about this place so we visited about 3pm in the afternoon. Everything looked beautiful and was very clean. The wait on was extremely personable. The food took a while to come, even thought it was nearly empty. The pate was very sloppy and off putting to look at, bit of a bitter taste with soggy brioche. Pork belly very dry, sauce greasy, mash was nice, plate beautifully dressed. Bolognese crochetes pretty good. Child's fish and chips looked to die for but was greasy as hell, the chunky chips tasteless and very greasy too. Maybe it was an off day for the place?

Fish and chips was lovely, as was the club sandwich. However the soy beef salad, meat was hard and tasted like it had been prepared days earlier, bad choice i was expected fresh slices of cooked beef in soy, with salad and noodles, and it wasnt. I would suggest if not sure of something ask, if i had done i would of ordered differently

Came across this lovely restaurant on the way to Parr Hall with my daughter and was greeted by such lovely staff who told us we sit anywhere near the bar for drinks but also can eat there too. Ordered 2 cocktails for £12 on selected cocktails but others to choose from further down the menu. We decided to order the mixed grill hanging kebab which came with fries and a side order of garlic mushrooms. Staff very polite and couldn't do enough for you. We ordered another 2 cocktails from the cocktail list. Wow what a lovely place to go to. Will definitely visit again. And staff are a credit to this restaurant as they are so friendly and polite. Thank you.

Had a Beeh Tartare and was absolutely fantastic. The service was 💯 top and not because Charles is a friend. Felix is a top host. It's definitely worth the money, and it's cheap, too. Going back for more

Perfect late lunch for me and my partner. Stanley our server could not be any more attentive! Food was delicious (we had set menu) and plentiful couldn’t manage pudding as I was too full! This was our first visit but certainly not our last.

We popped in this evening as we had seen the sign saying two cocktails for £12. We was only calling for one drink and then going home. We was lucky to be served by Nikos who made us feel extremely welcome, his hospitality skills were phenomenal. He was extremely friendly and entertaining with his showmanship behind the bar. Nikos listened to what we liked and mixed cocktail’s that weren’t on the menu just for us. So what we intended to be one drink, ended up an evening of beautifully mixed cocktails and great conversation. Thank you Nikos it was great to meet you. I would highly recommend a visit to grill on the square.
