Once again we had a fantastic evening at The Old Stamp House. Lovely atmosphere, great staff, and of course the food was perfect as usual. And that was matched with some beautiful wines too. Thanks for making it a wonderful evening for my wife's birthday! We're just gutted we don't live closer to visit more often!

Had a really good stay here. The room (Herries) was small but with a lovely view over the garden and a narrow section of the river in the background. You can hear the sheep all the time, but wasn't a downside for me. Location is perfect for the village

We went for Sunday Lunch. Incredible attentive staff with brilliant knowledge of food and drink, with excellent pairings for the meal. The food was second to none and an overall very enjoyable experience. We did not stay at this hotel, but if I judge my experience on this meal, I can only imagine the quality of the rooms would easily match the quality of the food. Location, brilliant very short walk from the cooperative and centre hub on the main road. Good amount of parking also. All in all 5 star experience and 5 star recommendations!

My absolute favourite bakery whilst in Ambleside (Lake District) I popped in this morning before a hike for two ridiculously amazing pistachio croissants! Also had one of their delicious cappuccinos. Dawn who took my order was an absolute hero. She even treat my dog to some doggy biscuits whilst we waited. Dawn, thank you for you cheerful personality which set us up for a very positive day in the fells. Hopefully will catch you again the next time we visit, as Dennis dog never forgets a face (someone that gives him treats :)

We noticed this cafe when heading into Ambleside and decided to give it a whizz for a coffee and a snack…. What a great find, lovely and clean, comfortable atmosphere and great views. As a lover of pistachio lattes I was not disappointed 😊 and the fruit bread really hit the spot - thank you xx

Reserve a table! Even if you see some tables free, they may not be able to seat you because they want to ensure a great experience so the don't take more people then they can cook and serve for comfortably. The menu is always excellent, with plenty of delicious and varied options and because everything is cooked fresh, they can easily cater to dietary requirements, I am a coeliac (gluten free) and had plenty to choose from. They do note that everything is cooked in a kitchen where allergens are present but they are careful and I have never had an issue. The staff are friendly, welcoming and personable, we had a lovely family dinner. As a family with young children, we got in early which meant we could enjoy the set menu, if you choose off the special boards instead, it cam get a little pricey but the specials board is well, special... it's got the delicious sounding fancy stuff on it. I was perfectly happy with the risotto I enjoyed with a nice house wine and the gluten free sticky toffee pudding! My kids loved their fish fingers and chips, they had all the usual suspects for kids or would also do a small version of the adult meals. Even their fish and chips were a bit special, clearly decent quality. So glad to be back and we'll definitely be back again the next time we visit Ambleside.

We arrived mid-afternoon, and not realising they were closing early, proceeded to order lunch for us and our small person. They didn't tell us and let us eat - it was only partway through our meal we realised as the place emptied and the sign on the door mysteriously turned to closed. If we had known / realised, we wouldn't have put them to the trouble. But we were glad we were able to stay because the service was friendly and the food was delicious and filling. And even more special, one of the servers played games and did magic with our little girl, which she thoroughly enjoyed and has been trying to recreate ever since. A lovely place to eat. We will definitely come again - perhaps this time we will pay attention to the signs!

A Warm Welcome and Delicious Food Nestled in the heart of Great Langdale, justifiably one of England's most beautiful locations, The Britannia Inn is a perfect pit stop for anyone exploring the stunning Lake District fells. During our recent stay on the nearby Langdale Estate, we had the pleasure of dining here on several occasions, and each visit was a true delight. If you're looking for proper pub food done well, The food was consistently excellent, with generous, hearty portions that are ideal for refueling after a day outdoors. We found the quality to be top-notch, offering classic comfort food that is both satisfying and delicious, for those who enjoy a drink, the selection does not disappoint. There's a great choice, particularly of local beers, perfect for sampling the regional brews. The beer garden is also a fantastic feature – a lovely spot to relax with a pint when the weather allows, soaking in the incredible views of the surrounding valley. Beyond the food and drink, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful on every visit. Their warm welcome and efficient service added significantly to the positive experience, making us feel truly at home, given its fantastic location and excellent reputation, The Inn understandably gets busy. So we strongly recommend booking a table in advance, especially if you're visiting during peak times, to avoid any disappointment.

Friendly staff that welcomed us (family of four), without a booking. Food arrived within a reasonable timescale, was tasty/ well presented on plate but was over priced for the ingredients and quality of cooking. My pheasant was very dry, little or no seasoning on smashed potatoes and the kids meal was a bowl of pasta with very little vegetables. As we were visiting and it was an unplanned meal, it did the job. But given the prices and quality of food we would probably not plan to return.
