Loved this place, great selection of drinks and the Hobson's Choice taster menu was right up our street. Smaller portions of the main courses, so you can try a couple of options. Very friendly and helpful staff

Very nice upmarket bar/bistro, service could have been better but drinks and food was very enjoyable, relaxed and comfy seating and surroundings

The food was lovely and the staff were very attentive. Even the barman was very imaginatieve with his cocktails

Overpriced for such small servings, very crowded as its quite small and only a few tables. Food was nice but portions on the small side.

I was introduced by a Langdale Estate timeshare owner, as one of the regular places he and family took meals. Service was excellent (although he is well known!) however the beer lacked character and the chips (with a sirloin steak bun) could have been better. Tomato slice seemed only faintly reminiscent of tomato. Hobson's is OK but for my taste there are better settings and food/drink in the Lakes. Considering this, the prices are less good value.

Had the 'taste of' fish and chips - although it was only a small portion my boyfriend and I found it very filling and perfectly cooked!

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
