Family Pleasant rural Cafe just outside Waverton. Most of items are home made on site including bread using flour ground at the mill. However , the food being presented is on the small side and akin to a child's portion , but this isn't reflected in the prices. The home made SOUP for example is served in a SMALL TEACUP !!! A larger more expensive portion is available , however this is served in a SMALL COFFEE CUP !!! The jacket potatoes not cheap at £7 50 are the smallest in the history of the world and with the bare minimum of filling. The salad garnish was a slither of tomato, a slither of cucumber and a lettuce leaf , that's it. Finally, the homemade cake ,being the cake of the week is again the smallest piece of cake in the history of the Universe. Apparently , according to the Baker , she has to charge £4.50:, a slither otherwise the Cafe will not make a profit. Overpriced considering the portion sizes are suitable for under 12's not adults . Suggestion , Why not serve the jacket potato and salad garnish on a tea cup saucer , it would fit nicely on there along with Soup in a teacup. Finally, beware of hard inedible homemade loaves of bread available to purchase . Warning this product may break your teeth

We booked a table for my Birthday. Unfortunately, it was at night time so no views but the well-kept interior made up for it. There were a couple of items not available, which was rather annoying, particularly as I would have enjoyed savouring the venison haunch. However, we shall be going up to the Borders at the end of next month where we shall, definitely, some game. The food served was excellent, however, and freshly cooked recognisable by the roast potatoes actually being crisp. The chicken liver paté, which we shared, was homemade and excellent, too, served with a brioche. Sadly, the brioche served was not enough to relish all the paté. The service, at times, was not as prompt as it should have been but this did not spoil our evening of celebration 😀 We shall, certainly, be returning

A discrete, elegant, small restaurant with young but exceptional staff. The menu was limited but each course was delicious. I’m glad we booked to eat here whilst staying at the hotel. Good value too: we paid £30 each for 3 courses.

Had a brilliant evening at The Letters. Very welcoming staff in what is a very traditional village pub. Had a pint in the lovely garden before enjoying a brilliant Chinese meal - really tasty and big portions.

Came in to try a new establishment on the way home. Didn't eat only had a drink. He welcome was warm from the young lad on shift. I did feel however feel a little rushed when we walked in it was automatically assumed we where eating which we where undecided. We sat down in the bar area which was pleasant but too open, I asked for a menu to browse and was told we will seat you in the restaurant I said no it's okay thanks felt the atmosphere was quite tense. Also poor selection of draught on offer.
