Family Pleasant rural Cafe just outside Waverton. Most of items are home made on site including bread using flour ground at the mill. However , the food being presented is on the small side and akin to a child's portion , but this isn't reflected in the prices. The home made SOUP for example is served in a SMALL TEACUP !!! A larger more expensive portion is available , however this is served in a SMALL COFFEE CUP !!! The jacket potatoes not cheap at £7 50 are the smallest in the history of the world and with the bare minimum of filling. The salad garnish was a slither of tomato, a slither of cucumber and a lettuce leaf , that's it. Finally, the homemade cake ,being the cake of the week is again the smallest piece of cake in the history of the Universe. Apparently , according to the Baker , she has to charge £4.50:, a slither otherwise the Cafe will not make a profit. Overpriced considering the portion sizes are suitable for under 12's not adults . Suggestion , Why not serve the jacket potato and salad garnish on a tea cup saucer , it would fit nicely on there along with Soup in a teacup. Finally, beware of hard inedible homemade loaves of bread available to purchase . Warning this product may break your teeth

Spent another lovely afternoon in Walk Mill having lunch and as always, the food was freshly prepared and very high quality. The cakes are beautiful and every week there’s a different cake of the week to be tempted by! The staff are efficient, friendly and very welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and dog friendly which is important to me as I like to walk my dog in the grounds before or after going In for lunch. The cafe is set in beautiful surroundings, very relaxing and a lovely place to visit as it’s a functioning Mill.

What an interesting building and so pleased to have eaten their delicious bread made from the flour milled on site. Charming little cafe - and you can buy bags of flour and freshly made bread too. There are also pleasant walks in the vicinity, easy parking and a history of how they rebuilt the Mill. Highly recommended for a low key lunch or tea.

Visited for a snack on our way out. Its pretty out of the way but well signposted off the A51. The mill itself is a working flour mill that visitors can view from the waterwheel outside to the gearing inside and the mill stones upstairs, with a little of history thrown in.The cafe is quite small but cosy and very warm - great on a cold day. It offers a typical range of food choices from homemade soup, sandwiches, cakes and scones. Everything is handmade to order. We had two wholemeal scones which came with butter, jam and cream with a cappuccino and mocha. The coffees were some of the best we've had, really strong and tasty. The scones were lovely, soft and light and just enough as a mid morning or afternoon snack. You can also buy a bag of the mill's flour too.The cost was £9.

This cafe in a working mill is in a lovely location and has a fascinating story but sadly feels a bit lacking in personality. We returned yesterday having not visited for a while after growing tired of the, limited, menu. We were pleased to see a couple of additions and plumped for the plough mans at £8. I'm afraid a bread bun, splodge of butter, an apple, 3 ungenorous pieces of cheese with pickle and a handful of shredded lettuce is not an £8 plough mans. The disappointment continued with a tiny piece of soggy flapjack and an undrinkable coffee. This place has huge potential but needs some character and good look at the menu and pricing.

Lovely cafe within a working mill. Friendly staff. The grain is local, milled on site and used in the baking. Their home made cakes are delicious, also soups and snacks. The soups are home made with fresh ingredients. They bake their own loaves and rolls and sell them to take home. I visit regularly just to buy their bread, it is the best ever. The owner will also show you around the mill/ wheel whilst the flour is being ground. Interesting. There are also lovely walks you can do from the mill. To make room for their delicious food!!

Lovely little place to stop for a light bight. Called in during a bike ride but I think the place is also used a lot by walkers. This teas shop restaurant is amazing very different to any other eatery it is a mill and bakery and the cafe is just an appendix to the the primary business . I have had lunch there on many occasions and take visitors there as the owner takes great pride in giving a guided tour of the mill and you can watch the flour being milled the same flour as you eat for your lunch . I can recommend the fat free fruit cake and the toasted sandwiche on a cold day is fab . Oh and not to forget the wood burning stove this is a very different and pleasant experience

I was disappointed by this place for a lunch spot. The toastie I had was horrid - which is quite a feat given that it is pretty simple to make - I really didn't want to eat it - it was limp, greasy and tasteless. The cakes looked good though. Good for cyclists that are passing through.....but not others in my opinion.

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.
