Another lovely evening - the food was delicious and the staff friendly. Due to the gorgeous weather we sat in the patio area watching the sun disappear. Blankets were on hand once it started to get cooler so we could stay in the garden while we finished our drinks.

What a great find. Called in for lunch and we were very impressed. We had the sausage and mash and the tandoori chicken burger with fries. Then shared the gooseberry tart. Service was good, very clean and tidy. With two drinks the cost was just under £50 so good value.

The setting created on arrival was fantastic. It was like being abroad!! A bliss and warm outdoor area ( my dad even took the model number of the heaters ha ha )... the outdoor area would actually be brilliant even out of COVID times!! All the staff presented extremely well and fantastic views of the gardens and near by countryside. The food and drinks were exceptional... we had a mixture of the tempura prawns ( which were the best I’ve ever had) and the arancini balls followed by the gnocchi, fish and chips and burgers. I had the burger but would of been extremely happy with any of them. Keep up the great work through this difficult period, and we look forward to revisiting very soon!!

Booked here for lunch today, 3/11/20 so just after lockdown. When I looked at the menu, I thought it might be a bit basic, but then everything that came out of the kitchen looked fabulous ie fish n chips, burger. We had the pheasant and bacon pie, it was delicious, probably one of the best we’ve had. I couldn’t resist the eggnog tart with an orange sauce and ice cream, yummy, followed by a very good cappuccino. The service was also very good. It’s a stunning building inside and out, done to a very high standard. It was our first time here today, it won’t be our last.

We have been relatively regular customers here since the Inn opened. We started with family gathering Sunday lunches, big round table by the fire with crisp white linen and gleaming cutlery... little bit old fashioned but in my book nothing wrong with good manners and decorum. Its all very lovely! The food, simply delicious and for us, never been an issue with quality and portions. We did Christmas last year with eight of us in the conservatory section, overall it renewed our faith in trusting a country pub/restaraunt to deliver a great experience for Christmas dinner, which for a lot of places is a tough call...More recently, during covid, following unlock, we have been going for the most delicious brunches. The most recent being today hence, for the first time in a while I felt moved to write a review... Why? Because I want places like this to survive and prosper, I want them to be busy and successful. This place is special, the building in itself is clearly the labour of love of the owner, one man who has rebuilt the old pub to the most exacting of standards with attention to detial in all things that matter like you will not see anywhere else, it is remarkable and delightful. The food is just great, whatever you choose from the steak to the fish to a bowl of soup and a sandwich it is fresh, tasty and served with pride. Today we had a brunch menu of soup and sandwiches... probably a fiver more than the same thing at a service station but the quality and service is obviously incomprable. This is good value dining if you appreciate great food. The attention to "the covid rules" was exceptional. The people at outdoor tables had individual heaters, they allowed dogs at certain tables, service was spot-on as always. if you are in the area and can find the Inn I strongly reccommend a visit, definately one of if not the best spot in Cheshire for great surroundings and great food!

First impressions, after a visit and some purchases from the on-site Farm Food Shop / Deli, stocked with an excellent stock of locally produced products and meat.We found that the decor and building in general are very good very spacious so no problem with being able to socially distance at the moment. The Sunday lunch was very good, my only criticism is that my beef was very rare (which was not a problem for me as I like it that way) we should have been warned or asked how we would like it as you do with a steak. It would not have suited my Wife. However she had the roast leg of lamb , which she said was excellent. Plenty of fresh veg.The staff were very helpful and professional. All in all a nice meal in great settings, we will try dinner there sometime in the future.Covid 19 measures were all in place, so no issues there.

Having been to the venue previously and been impressed by the building and latterly met the owner who told us we would have the best Sunday lunch in the area we decided to book. On arrival all was ok and drinks served politely and promptly. We struggled with the choice of starters on the lunch menu but eventually chose, duck rillets and salmon aranchini, the duck was completely tasteless and only saved by the fig relish, aranchini was ok. The main course of roast beef arrived absolutely rare, and looked like it had been steamed not roasted as the fat layer was white, it sat on an orange purée which we could not identify, the hard roast potatoes were under the 2 thick layers of beef, and therefore somewhat soggy. The vegetables to be fair were all good, but the gravy was also non descript. The large Yorkshire pudding was brown and obviously not freshly made. The beef was tender, but lacked taste due to not being roasted. The staff were courteous until they realised we were no entirely satisfied and then left us to the point when we paid we were asked how it was, we replied average and the response was ‘no worries’ and ‘is this your first time here? ‘It will be our last.

Having heard such commendable reports about this restaurant I was eager to try it to celebrate my birthday. Booking was uncomplicated and pleasantly surprised to be accommodated on a Saturday evening with choice of times, albeit it was stated tables had to vacated after 2 hours. On arrival we were offered to sit in the bar area or go straight to our table, opting for the latter we were sat in a brightly lit large room which had the similar ambience to that of a hospital waiting room, plastic plants in bird cages hanging from the ceiling was an interesting feature, and the floor scrubber ‘hidden from view’ behind the dresser also grabbed my attention. Our food and drink order was taken quickly and we enjoyed 2 slices of homemade bread before the starters were served. As the photo illustrates, presentation was excellent, and so too the taste; things were looking up...however 40 minutes elapsed from end of the starters to the main course being served, it did cross my mind that we would be penalised for having the table booking too long! During the wait no one approached us to offer further drinks or any apology for the delay. A ‘sorry for the delay’ was expressed when eventually our meals arrived and we quickly took the opportunity to order some more drinks, chicken cassoulet was tasty but not worthy of a photo and neither was the creme brûlée dessert.Having paid, we wandered back to the bar area in search of our coats, a passing waiter told us they were in the porch area, sure enough we did locate them there amongst an assortment of other overcoats; we could have chosen any but decided on taking the ones we’d arrived in.Overall a fairly disappointing experience, and we won’t be in any rush to return. I am sure many may disagree with my comments about the decor etc, everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, however customer service needs to be improved tenfold.

We called here after visiting Peckferton Castle. We did not book a table and only wanted something light. However the menu was for 2 or three courses which was far too much as we already had an evening meal planned. Quickly we were offered the bar menu which had nibbles listed and although not extensive was perfect for us. (even better we stayed seated in the restaurant).Fish goujons were lovely, so was the baked camenbert. We had a little one with us and so ordered the leek and potato soup which he devoured. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough, even supplying a small cushion for use with the high chair. Could not help but notice the food other people were ordering.... looked delicious. We visited here when it first opened and I was amazed by the food we had such an enjoyable evening and meal, we visited again a couple of months ago for a Sunday roast which we were disappointed with....it was New Year’s Eve when we went last and this May will be our final visit....it take us over an hour to get to the inn but we were willing to go the extra mile as we had such a good meal on our first visit....New Years Eve was AWFUL we had an early sitting with our two children. The staff are very good but the food was awful we both had prawns which were so greasy and for around £12 you only got 3 in a pot with chorizo which wasn’t nice. We then went for the fillet of beef which was served with a number of items on the plate all of which were very, very greasy when I pressed the fork down on the toasted bread it just oozed with fat as did the potatoes we just ate our meat and left everything else quite a disappoint seen as the bill was over £150 for myself and my partner which only included 4 drinks. Very disappointed.

As soon as we entered the Inn at Huxley we were pleasantly greeted by staff and escorted to a seat in the bar area as they offered to get our drinks and bring them over for us. A nice touch which set the tone for the whole evening. We had ordered the Chateaubriand prior to arriving so only had to chose starters. An abundant choice made the decision difficult for my wife but with prawn cocktail salmon and avocado on offer my choice was easy. The whole meal from that point onward was beautiful and a good choice of wine accompanied the a tremendous food magnificently - this restaurant in some ways could be viewed as taking a step back from the proliferation of taster menu restaurants everywhere and serves real food very well indeed. We both ordered steak which was cooked perfectly. We both had desert, and I had the cheese board; I was taken to the cheese trolley to make my choice. My cheese arrived on a beautiful 'Mouseman' cheese board- I was extremely impressed and loved these touches to our experience! My husband had the chocolate trio desert which hge said were amazing! We will definitely return soon. Thank you.

Have visited a number of times for dinner and Sunday lunch and have to say it is the nicest food we have had for a very long time. We have been a party of 4 on all occasions and everyone has been delighted with their choice of food. The service is very good and the decor is lovely. Keep up the good work and we will be back soon hopefully.

we were prompted to visit after reading the article in Cheshire Life. We were not disappointed, from pulling up in the ample car park, and seeing the great landscaping and beautiful tubs and baskets of flowers. On entering the pub you sort of get a 'wow moment' and know this is no ordinary pub.The staff were very pleasant and service and choice of food exceeded expectations. We WILL be back and have told all our friends about it.

Wow, what an amazing place this is. We were taken there by friends who live in the area and were astounded by the quality of the renovations, it is unique. The owner has modern versions of Robert Thompson ‘mouseman’ carvings on the bar and stools - find the mouse! The food was excellent with a good choice and well trained staff. A thoroughly enjoyable evening, we will certainly return on our next trip to Cheshire.

On the evidence of our dinner, I would say that The Inn is one of the best five places to eat within a ten mile radius of Chester.

What a fantastic makeover this place has had, the building, decor and everything about it is so well done. Now to the food... ate here for the first time tonight, very impressed. The service was superb and nothing too much trouble (thanks Abs), food delicious and a good choice. We have a number of good pubs in the local area but this was a step above and beyond. So nice to feel pampered at the dining table. We will be back.

One of the best pubs I’ve visited in the UK. The food was delicious, we had Moroccan lamb as a starter and I’ll definitely go back for that dish. We had then the Sunday roast and it was very nice. The service was very good, they were very attentive and polite.

We keep returning. Whether for a snack lunch which is delicious for £12.00. Or Sunday lunch, love being in the dining room or in The Brasserie or outside on the beautiful patio. Stunning decor, fab staff and delicious food. What’s not to love?! Definitely recommend.

Visited last night for the first time and we so so impressed, we’ll definitely be back. We are locals and have been really excited to see what this place would be like on opening, the attention to detail is second to none, it’s an amazing venue and when it gets its wedding licence I’m sure it’ll be really popular. But most importantly the food was really stunning, flavour and quality just second to none, and added to that the staff were really knowledgable and so welcoming. We were really impressed and we’re looking forward to going back soon, next time for a Sunday lunch

Have seen this been developed and would have no idea from the outside how beautifully done it is, the view, the comfort - all of it. Food to die for - best meal we have had in so long - I had chicken french peas - gorgeous. Husband had fish and chips - perfect. Also the bread (focaccia) serves to start with - divine. Wine, Prosecco, cocktail and a beer - all excellent. Ordered a negroni (not on menu and no trouble) service impeccable. Have they got a Michelin starred chef hiding in there?

Stopped here on spec as we were glamping nearby. Looked very up market from the extortion but the food and service were incredible. Exceptional value for money and the venue was very pleasing on the eye..... nothing to fault at all and would certainly return

Went to the Inn for the first time. Beautiful rebuild, extremely stylish and quality layout and furnishings. The fish and chips for lunch were second to none, even the fish had been skinned prior to cooking. The batter was very light, almost tempura style.

This was our first visit here since it was the old Farmers Arms (which has been demolished and this wonderful restaurant has been built on the original site and I highly recommend it. We went for dinner for our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. The actual restaurant building is beautiful, as are the furnishings and the lovely orangery, which looks out onto a lovely patio and across the Cheshire plains. We were greeted by a charming maitre 'd who wished us Happy Anniversary. The bar area is very comfortable and has a lovely restful atmosphere. the menu is different and varied and the food was excellent as was the service. The staff are so polite, friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful meal and then the chef sent out a plate of home made shortbread and strawberries decorated with "Happy Anniversary" - a lovely touch! We will definately be back soon. Only opened earlier this year and you really do need to try it - especially if you have a celebration coming up. I am sure you will not be disappointed. Well done to everyone - this is how a restaurant should be run.

Visited during the recent heatwave and sat outside to dine as the sun began to set. The place has been renovated to a high standard and is very easy on the eye. Staff are friendly, polite and attentive. Probably the best, most flavoursome steak I have eaten in many years. Top marks, will return asap.

Went for Sunday lunch and had great food and wine. Relaxed atmosphere ruined slightly by a small dog yelping in the restaurant ( really don’t think dogs should be allowed inside a restaurant unless a guide dog) Pricey but worth it for occasional lunch

Family dinner for three this evening - the food and service all good, although the staff need some further training on interfacing with the public. Not bad, but if you want to be a sector leader in food and hospitality, quality staff training a must!

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.
