If there's one pub I know I'm going to visit on any trip to Chester I take its The Union Vaults Pub ,been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A great looking back street boozer, a traditional real ale pub,a classic Victorian era pub, interior is superb ,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, a bagatelle table, darts board and lots of seating options, it's just a great good pub to unwind in. We were here on a bitterly cold February afternoon, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we had a study of their real ale's which I must say I was impressed with, in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Timothy Taylor Brewery, these were served in excellent condition,we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, crisp, hoppy, golden in colour, well balanced, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British back street boozer, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their pub. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Union Vaults Pub we had a great time. The Union Vaults Pub is easy to locate along Egerton Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 10am till midnight. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Chester.

The members of staff were appalling, there was a wake taking place and the owner of the establishment began screaming at a delivery driver calling him a C***. I have never experienced such foul behaviour before. They should really be ashamed.

A two night break in Chester and my twin brother and I chose The Mill Hotel for our base and I must say we made a great choice. A wonderful looking hotel on the canalside of the Shropshire Union Canal, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the reception team, booked into our twin room at 3pm ,room was really good, two comfortable beds, flat screen tv,tea & coffee making facilities, lots of storage space, bathroom was spotlessly clean, we used the hotel bar which was really good, we had breakfast on both days which was delicious, location wise couldn't be better, easy walking distance to all of Chester's amazing sites, loved our stay here ,will definitely choose this hotel again next time we're in Chester, hopefully very soon.

On our two day trip to Chester we visited a lot of interesting pub/bars and restaurants and one of the first pubs we visited was the Town Crier. This superb local pub is located across the street from the train station and is housed in a grade-II listed building. Built in 1865 as a hotel'this brilliant pub has a spacious well kept interior with a brilliant beergarden. There's excellent feature's and excellent decor throughout this pub and it has numerous TV screen's as its a fantastic pub to watch live sport. Me and my twin where walking to the hotel we were staying in but as we couldn't book in until 15.00 we went here for a beer.It was busy on our visit but it didnt take us long to get served. It has an excellent drink's range in here and real ales. On our visit we had a few glasse's of beer's from Fosters brewery lager which is a beer we don't usually have but they were served in perfect condition and where reasonably priced. It's a superb pub that's well worth visiting if your around this area as they also offer an excellent well priced food menu and is very easy to get to as it's across the street from the train station. (This is my 2nd review of the Town Crier). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-09.00-23.00. Friday-Saturday-09.00-00.00. Sunday-09.00-23.00. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Railway Station Bus Stop-1-5-5E-16-41-X1- Train Station. Chester Train Station.

I really don’t like giving poor ratings because I recognise the difficulties in the hospitality industry at the moment but there were few saving graces here. The Mollington Banastre used to be one of Chester’s best hotels and excellent lunch venues but I hadn’t visited for years. When I saw a voucher on offer for afternoon tea I bought one for my wife and two friends for a trip down memory lane. What a disappointment. The dining room was empty but for us and lacked warmth and atmosphere. The food offering was incredibly poor. The sandwiches lacked taste and imagination, the scones were small and along with the cakes looked and tasted as though they had been bought up the road at Morrisons. The only positive was the service which was good. Afternoon tea isn’t necessarily a good guide to the main aspects of a hotel but the quality and ambiance we experienced give me concern. It will be years again before we choose to come back.

we have had a few days staying in the hotel on site, wanted something different for breakfast there's not really much to choose from there and then we decided to try here the food was hot and was delivered to the table, it was expensive for what we actually had but cooked well and enjoyable the coffee was the best one I had in days so much better than McDonalds one and costa the man who served us was so pleasant and chatty he was brilliant made us feel really welcome and couldn't enough for us
