Visited here while staying at the premier inn had the meal deal which was good value all the staff were lovely but unfortunately it was far too cold in the restaurant when I mentioned this to a staff member he agreed and said he had already asked for the air conditioning turning down but it never really warmed up and I had to go upstairs to get my coat which didn't really lead to a cosy relaxing dining experience I also noticed other diners shivering ...the food was nice

Excellent service, but limited choice if you have to avoid dairy and spicy foods. The breakfast is a amazing. Staff very helpful, and the chef will make something for a limited diet. Top marks for that. But think the franchise needs to take a long look at there customer base.

Stopped here to have a light dinner, before going back to the room & opted for the halloumi dish, only to be told halloumi was off the menu.... Had another look & there was nothing much else we really wanted, that didn’t cost nearly £16 (tad pricey for a light bite, we felt....) Not being a fan of pizza or Thai limited our choice too much, so we ended up at a Wetherspoons down the road for a chicken burger & drink for £7 - much more realistic pricing....

Had two meals at this restaurant both very nice at reasonable prices. One was a sirloin steak which was cooked just how I like it. The rest of the meal was hot nice portion size, with some wine and a desert I was full and change out of £40, good value. I thought. Good friendly service very good at the job. as there were 2 people in wheelchairs. Who were treated very well. Staff told them to just ask and they would bring food to them .

We ate here one evening of our 2 night stay. Took advantage of the breakfast / dinner deal which was good value. We both had salmon and avocado to start with which was only OK. Very little avocado and the bed of rocket was a bit soggy. I had 'black and blue burger' and it was very good - sometimes you just need a burger and this was worth it!! My husband had lamb shank which he also enjoyed. English breakfast was buffet style and well cooked with plenty of choice. Definitely recommend if you are staying there.

Ate two breakfasts and one evening meal at Thyme, whilst staying at the hotel. Staff were excellent, very busy, very pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was presented on a heated servery in relatively small dishes that were frequently replenished - the small dishes meant the food was not left out to dry under hot lights as is often the case in this kind of setup. All of the cooked food was of a good standard and well cooked. The evening meal was a reasonable standard. The grilled lamb koftas starter was somewhat bland and the slow cooked lamb shank main course was very dry. Taking the "all you can eat" breakfast and 2 course evening meal "Meal Deal" package of £24.99 renders the two meals quite good value - by hotel standards. Certainly very convenient if staying at the hotel and overall a good experience

We chose to eat in the premier inns restaurant as it was our first night and we had been walking around the city and just decided to eat here. Temperature of the food was not hot enough for my husband and the when we had the dessert which was supposed to be a frozen yoghurt cheesecake one was frozen the other was warm so we declined to eat it this was taken off the bill, but nevertheless should not have been like that.

Ate here while staying in the premier in as booked the meal deal option as best value option. Evening meals and starters were the same every night of my 5 night stay but very different on each occasion from cooking standards. Breakfast was ok but did not like food hanging around under the lights and being not refreshed quickly enough to keep it fresh and not over cooked like I encountered most mornings

Like almost everyone who eats here we were staying at the Premier Inn.It was convenient but was nowhere near the standard we expected. The worst dining experience we had over the weekend by a significant distance and the worst restaurant adjoining a Premier Inn we've ever been in . The Ormonde adjoining The Newmarket Premier Inn proves that these things can work well

We visited the thyme restaurant on our first night of our stay as we were tired from travelling and just wanted to chill out. We were greeted by a lovely young lady, Dara and she served us throughout our meal. We just wanted to sit and have a drink before we ordered which she was fine with. We ordered Camembert to share whilst we had a drink. The restaurant suddenly got busy and the poor girl was running around on her own and I felt bad for her; being a waitress I just wanted to get up and help her. The lady from reception had to come and help her in the end, despite it being busy and the fact she was on her own, she delivered lovely, friendly service throughout. Thank you Dara.

I always like to leave for the day well fed so that I don't have to worry about my next meal... what it is or where it is. So, the eat as much as you like Premier breakfast just meets my need. I get to eat as many sausages I like, even order an omelette (which came pretty fast, thanks), though it was without any filling at all. Had to fill a grilled tomato in it. Quite enjoyed the breakfast except the tea choices, which though were many, did not quite satisfy my craving for a well boiled milk with tea leaves immersed in them. Overall a convenient place with good service and enough seating at 8.45 am on a Friday morning.

Staff were attentive & friendly throughout.Like all Thyme restaurants it provides a decent breakfast that meets all diners needs, plenty of choice and appearing to use quality ingredients (cereal, condiments and preserves are all well know major names). We stayed for two nights at the Premier in and had two breakfasts and drinks for two nights. First breakfast on Saturday morning. No fruit salad, No dried fruit. Ten minutes to toast GF bread, Four poached eggs came in two's fifteen minutes apart. Tables weren't cleared. Went back for seconds and no bacon or eggs. Floor very sticky. Staff very friendly. Sunday morning much better. First night we ordered four Black Russians and were charged £30+.as a night cap. Second night we went for pre dinner drinks. It was 3 for 2. Good but the bar was far to small for the attention is got. Queuing at the bar, glasses not cleared, tables not wiped and basic mayhem. Back for a nightcap of four Black Russians, only £20+ this time - why?? Staff still very friendly.

Staying at the Premier Inn and not wanting to go out we thought we'd settle for the easy option and eat at the Thyme Restaurant.Thyme is an attractive looking space although the lighting is unappealing - low energy 'brown' light, unflattering and not intimate or relaxing. A rather confusing Premier Inn meal deal was explained to us by a very friendly waitress and we settled on pizzas and steak. My choice of 'fully loaded' pizza appealed because you could select a large variety of toppings at no extra cost. When it finally arrived (after nearly an hour) I could see why. I had selected; mushrooms, there were around 4 or 5 tiny pieces, fresh rocket - not visible, back bacon - again a few tiny pieces and the same applied to the pineapple, fresh tomato and peppers. Very disappointing. For dessert the three sad looking scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice-cream arrived partially melted and without the 'curled wafer'. Again, we had to wait a considerable amount of time for this to appear, inexcusable as by now the restaurant was quieter and no cooking was required. Thyme would have received a poor rating had it not been for a very professional staff member who realised we had been kept waiting too long and made a point of apologising to us.

On the occasions that I've eaten in the restaurant it's usually been just breakfast but on my last stay it was pouring rain out one evening and we decided to stay dry and eat in the hotel instead of heading out.The menu is the standard Premier Inn menu which is varied and usually has something to suit everyone. The service was really friendly even though you could see they were busy on that particular evening. All the food was lovely and I particularly liked their vegetable curry as it was a quite a good curry as so many can be very bland without meat!My only comment would be the size of the restaurant and particularly the bar area. There isn't much room in the bar if you just wanted to come for a drink and some of the tables in the restaurant are so close to the door you could feel like you are sitting in reception. However, I appreciate they can only work with the space they have and that they have done well.

We chose to stay here as it was convenient for a quick stroll into town, the hotel itself was up to the usual Premier Inn standards, we have stayed in many of them all over the country, with a 99% success rate only once have we ever had complain.Sometimes we eat in the attached restaurants and sometimes we don't.The food is usually quite edible but nothing fancy, basically it does thejob and fills you up.However the meal that was presented was genuinely poor, thr starter, Garlic cheese flatbread was tasteless and bland, the main a 16oz burger was so dry and overcooked, it had to be smothered in sauce to be able to eat it, this was very disappointing.Service was fairly leisurely but as always staff polite and courteous, the food was definitely below the usual/expected standard, shame really as this left a slightly sour note on what had been an enjoyable stay.

Birthday treat for afternoon tea. Put us in a room on our own so I asked to be moved to sit with everyone else dining...which they did. Sandwiches brought out on saucer sized plate then another plate with cakes and scones. I asked why not served on 3 tier cake stand as she gave some poor excuse as to cakes might melt so they don't use them hower other diners had them! They forgot to bring the strawberries and cream and champagne we ordered. Waitress was moody and unhelpful and we had to go into bar for a cocktail as they were now shutting!! Huge amount of money for poor food and service. Never been back!

Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

We went here for food as the brewers fayre is closed for refurbishments at the premier inn we were staying at. The food was terrible, if it wasn't for us being starving after a full day at Chester zoo we wouldn't have eaten it. Wasn't expecting top of the notch food for the price but was definitely expecting much better than what was served. Everything looks to have come out the same deep fat fryer which seemed could do with a oil change, one of my children's starters was veg sticks which were so dry and looked like they'd been prepped the week before, the others a "garlic bread starter" was two slices off a cheap garlic baguette. The staff were lovely and the place was clean so probably a great place for a drink, just wouldn't return again food.
