Modern hotel with cheerful staff. Bar and restaurant were nicely decorated, breakfast was good. Spa was clean and warm. Bedroom was ample for two nights but I could not cope with the compact room for any longer. Better suited for a single traveller

Stayed here for 2 nights.Rooms are good but lack a safe deposit box, shelf in bathroom and somewhere to put the towels despite a sign saying please put unused towels on the rack! Had some issues with the room in that 2 of the lights weren't working and the bathroom fan makes a heck of a noise- beware if in rm 322.Despite reporting to the desk first thing the next day no sign of any visit to look or fix the problem.Plus side lovely breakfast and a good location.

The hotel looked lovely from the outside and going into reception typical city hotel. Once we got in the lift to the 6th floor it was very much like a hospital corridor. The room was very basic which was ok for the 1 night stay. I turned on the light and there was a huge cobweb from the air-conditioning unit to the light. It had been there a while along with the dust on the air-conditioning unit. Breakfast was ok. The hotel was not worth what we paid for the 1 night stay.

Stayed 2 nights at a cost of £320, I have to say that I expected much more from this hotel!! Parking (if booked through a 3rd party like booking.com) is £9-12 per night which is a need to know extra really! The hotel is VERY dated in my opinion! Green light on all night (maybe disabled thing?)The room we had was a disabled room…on the 5th floor!! Fortunately we are not disabled because if we was our room would be a nightmare to get too! The lifts are small and poor, rooms are really dated, our shower was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had to use! Breakfast is ok but it’s a tiny buffet serving area so only 2-3 people can fit in at any one time which given the size of the hotel isn’t ideal! Location wise it’s ok, it’s a 10 minute walk (if that) into the centre. Our bed had a really hard tempur (or similar) mattress. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s a disabled room but it wasn’t great for us!! So as I always ask, did I sleep well…no, would I stay here again? No, far too expensive for what it used to! I’ve honestly stayed in better b&bs!!! quicklybon the Spa….its ok, nice pool and steam/sauna! best part of the hotel!!

We used the Mill Hotel and Spa for a two night break in Chester paying with parking over £220. First the good things, won't take long. It was within a short walk of the City Centre and the mattress was good and comfortable. Now the rest On checking into the hotel we went up to our room and it was very warm, you could grow orchids in it. The window hardly opened as there were restrictors on it and no fan in the room. No Aircon or other mechanical ventilation. Popped down to reception to be told there was a fan three time before they agreed to send one up. Also had to sign a health and safety form to get the restrictor removed. Maybe they can though diving into the canal to cool off would be the way to go. When restrictor removed no widow stay so pointless. The room despite being business class was shabby and needed decorating, only basic tea bags and coffee granules with no water, very poor. The bathroom was small and again in need of updating, toilet seat you had to hold up with your knee, mirror over sink so low I had to bend over to shave. Breakfast was included, went down on the first morning and ordered coffee, this instant coffee, it had the usual instant chemically taste. When asked if it was instant reply was yes but it is Kenko. Had to speak to dining room manager to get a proper coffee from the machine in the bar, this started a run from other guests. Tinned fruit, peaches or grapefruit, poor choice of cereal and only one type of milk. Cooked breakfast was buffet style. Scrambled egg had water on it and fried eggs had gone hard, bacon was either overcooked or anemic and no mushrooms. Even toast was in a tray going cold and hard. All in all a very poor breakfast, at least we had all other meals in Chester. This is a hotel charging £100 a night and needs to do more, improve rooms and better breakfast required. My advice find another hotel.

Our friends booked us into this hotel for a spa break and we spent two nights there. On arrival we were impressed by the secure car park, which was in very close proximity to the hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful telling us all we needed to know about the hotel and booked us in for our breakfasts on both days. All other staff we encountered were very pleasant and could not do enough for us - even the maid we met (sometimes they do not get a mention, but the lady we met on our floor - 3rd - was really polite and obliging). The restaurant and spa staff were very helpful and polite too. We had opted for the basic room, but it was adequate for our needs. We were facing the ring road so there was traffic noise, but having lived on a busy road for many years it was something we could put up with. Our friends faced the car park and said that their room had been quieter so this may be worth pointing out for anyone who prefers peace and quiet. The spa facilities were good and the buffet breakfast was lovely. Waiters and waitresses were attentive and polite, as were the bar staff. We did not try any of the food on offer other than the breakfast so cannot make mention of that. Would certainly return to the hotel again. This hotel is in a very good location and very close to the bus interchange. The cathedral is within easy walking distance too.

We stayed here for a week with my daughter, what a lovely hotel. Rooms were comfy couple of small problems but after speaking to reception ..quickly sorted. Breakfast choice really good as were all of the staff, so friendly and helpful. We made use of the swimming pool and steam room and jacuzzi in the afternoon which was an added bonus. Did not eat in the restaurant as to be honest there was not a lot of choice. One other point to make would be could you please put a dimmer switch in the room or otherwise a lamp, the lights are too bright. Will definitely come back.

My friend and I just had 3 nights here and it was fabulous!! Before we checked in we had booked a couple of spa treatments to start the weekend and they were excellent. We then checked in at 3pm and were delighted with our room as we'd asked for a twin bedroom and our room had a double and 2 singles with plenty of space for us both. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and a good breakfast was provided each morning plus the evening bar area was ideal for a nightcap each evening we got in from the city centre which is only an easy 5 minute walk away. The car park is a bonus as it’s right in front of the hotel and if full then the overflow car park is 2 minutes around the corner. If you book direct with hotel the car park is free, otherwise it is £9 per night and this is clear at the time of booking so I had no problem with that and think it is fair and reasonable. I am already considering a return visit!

We booked this hotel on a Sunday night for a Sunday afternoon shopping spree and couldn't have been more delighted. After the shopping we had a drink in the reasonably priced hotel bar. The package also came with access to the pool and sauna, and along with breakfast in the morning the stay was complete. Staff were really helpful and friendly so we booked another weekend in the summer!

Average place to stay. Bedrooms were okay, decoration out dated and have just painted over top of wall paper. Unfortunately bathroom not quite what we expected for the price. Our bathroom is nicer at home. Tea was good and reasonable price and lovely staff and restaurant was lovely. Breakfast was well provided and diverse. Missing mushrooms on the fry up but other than that’s was nice breakfast. Overall lovely place to stay was just disappointed with the room and bathroom not quite being as nice as we expected for the price. Could of done with more information leaflets around the room

Friendly staff and a nice bar area. Unfortunately the room we had was grubby and very dated. Some worrying stains on the curtains, thick dust down the side of the wardrobe and on the plugs behind the TV. Incredibly noisy bathroom fan which was also thick with grime. Very old bathroom decor too. It was a great location as it's close to the centre but not somewhere we'd stay again.

One night B &B to meet up with friends. Room basic but comfy beds. We had been allocated a family room although it was just a 2 person booking. There were 2 single and 2 single pushed together to make a double. Hanging space enough for a couple of item's. Recently decorated with black out blinds to the windows. We had a look at the pool but didn't have time to use it. Definitely would if staying longer. Looked lovely. Breakfast was good although no orange juice only apple, cranberry and water. Don't know why this couldn't have been brought from either of the 2 bars. Did mention that (as happens in many hotels) there wasn't an electric plug anywhere near a mirror for hairdryer or hot brushes etc. Reception efficient and friendly. All in all a very good stay. Parking cost £9 per night. Short walk into city centre.

All hotel staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us. Had use of the pool with its hot tub, steam room and sauna. Very relaxing. My wife had 2 treatments in the spa, again very relaxing and professionally delivered. Thanks to Danny in the Spa for his restaurant recommendation for our anniversary meal. Great Italian. Simple 5 minute walk into centre of Chester. Great walks around the town and around The Rows. Lots of great shops and restaurants. Very surprising to see a town centre buzzing in the evenings. 10 minutes in a taxi to Chester Zoo. A must if you're staying in Chester. A great weekend, highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel. We had a large room for four adults (a double and two singles) with plenty of room to move around; it certainly didn't feel cramped. The style of the decor/furniture was perhaps slightly dated but it wasn't shabby or in need of a revamp - unlike other comments I've read. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was powerful. The quality and selection of the self-service breakfast buffet was good; the big plus point was that tea was served in proper pots, none of this hot water from an urn palaver! We ended up having an evening meal at the hotel because the weather was just too horrible to go back out into town. The menu was good and prices not high - we all enjoyed our meals. There is a large bar with plenty of tables and chairs for guests to socialise – outdoor seating is also available. We used the spa facilities which we really enjoyed. The changing facilities are good and towels are provided. There's very little space for chairs or loungers in the pool area but we were happy to go from pool to hot tub and use the steam and sauna rooms. As most of the hotel guests were braving it in the rain at the Chester Races, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Parking is £9.00 per night and there are plenty of spaces available. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We definitely felt that we got value for money and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

I've been past this establishment quite a few times and thought It looked nice when walking along the canal. We decided to stay, parked with no problems and checked in. This was abit slow, but nothing major. Given room across the glass walkway (537), got to the room, and I have to say that we were a bit disappointed due to the decor, Very small windows made the room very dark. The furniture was very outdated, and in need of a major upgrade. There was also what looked like a manky single bed/ futon thing. Not great, considering the price paid for 1 night.... It wasn't all bad, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Just expected better than we received. Dunno if we would book again.... it might have been that the rooms are going to be upgraded, and we came just before it was about to happen, but we weren't as impressed with the inside as we're were from the outside..

We have just stayed at this hotel from friday-sunday and overall it was a pleasant stay. Things we liked: Short walk to town centre Decent sized car park Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice Resturant was very clean Bar area was lovely and the food in there was nice (drinks and food fairly priced) Spa area AMAZING - steam room, sauna, pool and jacuzzi, we made use of this area a lot! Bed was comfortable Shower was powerful and hot! Staff all friendly Things we didn't like: Our room was quite dated - tv was old with not a very good picture, Furniture was old and dark, could do with a little modernisation. No fridge in the room, we bought bottled water due to the heat and had no fridge to store it in. No air con in the hotel whatsoever, wasn't as much of an issue in communal areas but the room was unbearable at night time, couldn't have the window open due to the noise of the road. We would definitely stay again but not during a heatwave! Overall we were pleased with our stay but we would choose a different room next time.

Everybody has pet hates when it comes to Hotel rooms, Mine are 1.No AC and too noisy from the traffic to open window onto the main road, so we boiled at night. 2 Nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom. 3. Towel rail looked like it had not been cleaned for months. 4. For us oldies nothing to grab hold of to get in and out of the shower, and no anti slip mat in the bath. 5. Tea and coffee tray very high. and kettle on the other side of the room. Likes. 1. All the breakfast staff were very good and did an excellent job. 2. Its an ideal place to stay for the town centre which is in walking distance.

Whilst we had a poor experience there seemed to be a lot of people enjoyed the hotel. However we found the room for 186 a little under par. It had a very shabby bathroom with no air con and the fan provided didn't work. It didnt have a fridge and this was carried in and plonked into the room? The Spa had been an attraction but robes and slippers are charged at 8 pound a person. But the facilities have no loungers just a few plastic chairs and the overall facility was so tiny we didnt use it. Again it was shabby and overall the hotel compared to most is poor and the pricing shouldn't be equal to other hotels at 4 stars and with excellent facilities. Other high points at breakfast tinned fruit and toast only toasted on one side. Overall very disappointed given what we had paid.

Stayed over in town as came by train and this hotel is only a 10 min walk from Chester. Check in was very quick and no issues. Advised that I would be leaving at 4am and had breakfast booked so reception team offered to get me coffee ready but said no, as I had more than enough to carry, but was a nice touch. The site is split between two buildings with a enclosed bridge across the canal connecting them. I was on the spa side so just wandered over. Room was really nice, really big and bathroom was good as well. Had biscuits with the team making stuff, which was nice. Area is quiet nice and my working hours did not allow me to have dinner on site, but there were some pubs along the canal, all within walking distance. The main shopping streets was also only a short walk away. There was parking out the back, but did not seem loads so maybe one to check if you are driving. Come to Chester with the family occasionally so would consider this hotel, certainly if coming by train.

We visited during Covid restrictions were in place . For this reason the restaurant boat wasn’t operating , we had breakfast which had a very limited choice but what was there was nice. We also ate lunch one day and had an evening meal another both were lovely. The room was modern and spacious we booked a twin room but had a king size and 2 singles. The shower was good. , I didn’t like the fact the heaters were limited and were either on or off at 25* . This was not adequate and storage was also an issue with no drawers and limited hanging space. The other negative was that there was no appointments mon -thurs for treatments in the spa we were told they were fully booked however we later found out they don’t offer massages Mon-Thurs. These are the only reason I rated this hotel lower . The location is excellent walking distance from the train station, bus station close by and really central for town and restaurants

Nice enough hotel in a good location, though it does look slightly dated on the inside. Room itself was comfortable but the shower wasn't the best.Breakfast was absolutely terrible, microwaved scrambled eggs and two dried up, overcooked rashers of bacon that would've doubled up nicely as shoe soles.

Travelled for business to Chester. I was highly welcomed up in arrival. The restaurant wasn't open, however, but the host highly recommended the Thai restaurant a few metres away from the hotel and it did not disappoint! They even accommodated when I brought my food back to the hotel and gave me cutlery so that I had my takeaway meal in the restaurant area, rather than taking it to my room (which was allowed, but meant my room wouldn't smell of Thai all evening!). Wifi was also available for free using their password. Kudos to the host - seemed he was the only person working from evening until morning, as I didn't see any other staff. Hotel and bar and restaurant are separate, which means it quiet on an evening. You need to go through the Secret Garden to the hotel.

Honestly one of the worst places I’ve eaten in years! Firstly had a plate of food given to me, then taken away as wrong table, no big issue here happens. Then our food came out, wish they hadn’t bothered! There is nothing ‘Epic’ about the Epic Chicken New Yorker… I have attached the photo to showcase just how bad it was. I’m astounded that a chef has taken a look at this and given the green light for it to be served! Cooked within an inch of its life, looked similar to when you forget about something in the oven and end up binning it! Was rock hard, ate less than half. Couldn’t even be bothered complaining as the poor waitress had already had 2 plates of food sent back from tables around us. And look at the state of the seasoned chips with my son’s burger. Literally just dumped a load in the middle of the plate making them inedible… The roasts that had been ordered, completely overdone, needed a steak knife to cut through the meet! About the only thing that was okay was the steak pie, clearly ordered in and not made fresh onsite thank god! Zero pride in what was served, will never eat here again! I’m honestly astounded that these plates found their way out of the kitchen.
