The best restaurants serving British food in North East

I visit Hartlepool from London several times a year and always make a beeline for this lovely cafe. The staff are friendly and the coffee is delicious - they know how to make a decent espresso which isn't a given in many cafes. I recommend the gorgeous vegan chocolate sponge pudding - ask them to heat it up. Goes nicely with coffee. Thankyou to all the staff.

The best Sunday dinner i have ever had in a pub. 10 out of 10 for food and service and they have a pool table . Would highly recommend it.👏👏

El cuarto trasero tenía una gran configuración con pantallas grandes, por lo que es un lugar ideal para ver el partido. El ambiente era animado, con una buena mezcla de gente disfrutando del juego sin que se sintiera demasiado revoltoso. Una opción de pub sólida si buscas una bebida relajada con deporte en la pantalla. ¡Estaría feliz de volver!

Was here today to help celebrate a friend's surprise 80th birthday party. The decor is amazing, the food delicious and staff so very friendly and efficient. What is great, is that the standard is consistant so I have no hesitation in recommending the venue to anyone - whether it's a casual stop by or for a celebration, Ball's will cater for your specific needs.

My wife and I visited the Hare and Hounds today after pre booking, which seems essential. We were not disappointed. It was the Best Sunday Roast we have had for years. Freshly cooked vegetables and a choice of beef lamb or pork very good portions of meat served to you then put your own veg and trimmings. All with the best gravy. Friendly staff and bee from onsite brewery. Strongly Recommend.

Charming little coffee shop on the high street. Lovely welcoming staff, great coffee and light dishes too. Highly recommend!

My parents live in Eston and whenever we visit them we always come to The Stap for some lunch. We were there on Friday and as always we had a great lunch. The food is always spot on, yes it is pub grub but it is GOOD pub grub. I usually have a sandwich but tried something new and had Mac Cheese - tasty and cheesy. My wife had the fish and chips and I had food envy. The batter was crispy and the fish soft and tasty. All the food was hot and all eaten. We have never had a bad meal at The Stap and we will continue to come every time we visit.

Cuando había como una familia de cuatro, estar antes bastantes veces sin ningún problema, pero esta vez yo y mi hijo tuvimos robo, patatas fritas y rodajas extra de queso y aros de cebolla más su dice ensalada. Ambos ladrones no tenían salsa y les faltaba queso extra. Los ladrones de la foto se veían muy bonitos, los que conseguimos eran muy delgados e insípidos. El personal es genial, pero dudo mucho que volvamos.

Stopped here for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality. I opted for a lamb and mint burger which was substantial and served with delicious chips. Hubby opted for the ultimate Beef Wellington baguette. This was more than substantial and tasted superb. Served with mushrooms . The gravey was so delicious I pinched some and serve me right spilled some down my front. Made with onions and a mirad of flavours. The prawn starter looked good too but would have been too much for us Not only does this place have fabulous views. It has pods available too. Friendly serving staff who welcomed us. In the area we would definitely recommend this place.

Out on Easter Saturday in fine weather and we were recommended the Beehive and they were not wrong plenty of easy parking, loads of people/ Families enjoying some wonderful food great service and fine weather. The menu had enough variety for everyone the service was excellent the staff knowledgeable of there wines was great. If you are ever in the area I can not recommend it highly enough.

Retired couple arrived for food and drinks. Ordered parmo platter for two. Came with 3 choice small Parmos, chips, fries, salad and garlic dip. We received 3 small portions of parmo choices, cold scrappy chips, nice salad. What a disappointment. After staff finally came to ask if food was ok, it was too late to accept fresh chips. Staff said it was due to the temperature that chips cooled off fast. Wont rush back for food! No heating on in the whole place, it was freezing, very uncomfortable night out.

2nd time here Myself and my mam and dad went for Sunday lunch and I have to say that it was absolutely outstanding. Sue is very friendly and her staff are also brilliant. The food was outstanding tasty and the puddings are also amazing. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

Well, a very strange experience. On entering the cafe we were spoken to by an abrupt and rude assistant. She informed us there was no hot food as it was too late (2ish) but we said that was okay we would be having coffees and cake. She was so unwelcoming and stony faced as if she didn't want the custom. I sat down and let my husband order, I was so taken aback that I actually chuckled to myself. Here is somebody so obviously unhappy in her job. On a positive note our coffee was decent and served hot. Our cheese scone was also very tasty and warm. Its a shame the customer service is abysmal- its so bad that it is good!! The door notice stated 4.00pm closing but it was closed at 3.15. We would not recommend or return.
