This is the best breakfast in Sunderland without a doubt. The Full English is to die for and comes out really hot, (this being my biggest complaint in other establishments). Since moving to Sunderland in April we've eaten in the Bungalow nearly every weekend. My fiance tends to have a breakfast or eggs on toast and I tend to have a panini and all are always yummy. The homemade cheese cakes in the fridge look really good but I'm alway to full to try them but I will do one day. The milkshakes are also really good especially the mint aero. The view is great especially if you get a table by the window and the prices are really reasonable. Always made to feel welcome by the team especially Vicky who is great. Shame that Percy the Parrot isn't there to welcome customers at the moment but some yobs broke in to the cafes yard and trashed his cage.

We'd heard so much about this cafe so went for breakfast on a sunday morning. We ordered a traditional breakfast with tea & toast. The sausages were cooked but anemic not been cooked in a fry pan, oven or grill. The bacon was only just cooked, barely. The mushrooms, beans and tomatoes were out of a tin and were edible, but were cheap nasty rubbish. The toaster must have been broken as the toast was just like stale bread with no colour and cheap margerine/spread was used thickly in the middle of it making it unappealing. This was the most expensive plate of stuff that a dog wouldn't eat. Nearly £15 each for breakfast is a crime. The worst breakfast I have ever eaten anywhere in the world.

Visited the café last Thursday together with my family. We were totally ignored by the waitress who seemed more exercised in attending to what seemed friends and acquaintances who had come in after us. A previous review from another customer had a similar experience and, like us, was made to feel they were “gate crashing” a private function. When I visit a café I do not expect to be subject to the whims and fancies of serving waitresses. After a further wait it became obvious we were not going to be served and we decamped to a café down by the yacht marina where we were warmly greeted. Our bill, at this venue, came to £38. A £38 loss to The Bungalow I’m afraid.

While we were there a couple came in and were clearly regulars and were treat very differently. So I felt we were "gate crashing ". This domineering location overlooking the beach gives some beautiful views, unfortunately it isn't complimented by good food. As we entered there was a serious lack of greeting that made us feel uncomfortable, we sat ourselves at a table after cleaning crumbs from a chair. We ordered full English breakfast, bacon sandwich, vegetarian breakfast, three coffees and one can of coke. Ohhhhhhh where do I start? The sausage, bacon and egg were all undercooked, the sausage being the worst, so bad that an incompetent vet could have brought it back to life, tomatoes cold, coffee tasteless and also not what we ordered! The fried bread had an awful burnt taste. My friend left the vast majority of his but insisted on paying for it as he wanted to seethe a little longer, at no time were we asked if we were OK, you would expect that someone would have been interested in knowing why food and drinks have not been touched, alas they took our money and that must be good enough for them. Due to its domineering location this cafe would probably survive a tsunami which is a great shame. The financial cost of our misadventure came to £18.70 the psychological cost is still to be determined.

Myself and a group of friends use the Bungalow Cafe most weekends after our cycle rides. It is always excellent and we get s warm welcome. Crispy bacon sandwiches and pots of tea all round!

We have never been disappointed by this establishment. Popped in for breakfast this morning and we the food that was served up was sublime. Wife had full English and I had a Chicken Omelette. We always head here whenever we are in or around Sunderland

For ages I have been promising myself a fried breakfast at The Bungalow, so had one last week (for lunch). It was really superb, 2 eggs 2 sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushroom, black pudding plus fried bread, toast and a pot of tea for under £6.00 Cannot be bad. It was terrific. Gets very busy at breakfast time . Fantastic views over the North sea to go with the fantastic staff.

I called in today for the 1st time while I was in the area.It was around 10am and I had a bacon and egg sandwich and cup of coffee. Both were spot on, and delicious. It was a nice morning so I ate at a table outsideI was served by a really nice, helpful and very pleasant young Lady. Soon as I set foot through the door I was greeted with "Hello, how are you today, what would you like" . . . . like a really nice old friend, not a perfect stranger.I live 30 miles away but for sure I will be back.

Perfect sausage, crispy bacon, dippy egg, thick black pudding, chunky mushrooms, red hot beans ... all with a charming personable service. My one and only suggestion would be to get a decent coffee machine in - but I am being fussy.

I haven't been to this cafe for about eight years since I moved away from the area and to say back then I was a regular would be an understatement. I decided to visit on Boxing Day with my son and was amazed with this cafe. Although the cafe has been refurbished since I last visited, it hasn't lost its character and the food is still fantastic. We managed to get a seat by the window overlooking the beach and Roker Pier and the view is still amazing. We were served promptly by the friendly staff. The food was cooked to perfection and well presented. I had the full English breakfast and it was enormous. The same can be said for the bacon sandwich that my young son had. I think that I'll be visiting this cracking little cafe more often when visiting the area.

Could not recommend this cafe anymore! Please go and eat, take in the gorgeous sea front and just relax! My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday morning for breakfast, we got a seat on the front and looked out on to the pier! The friendly lady came over and took our order, a bacon sarnie with a cuppa tea and a bacon / egg sarnie with a coffee! The drinks came out very quickly, and then there was a little wait for food (expected) but we read the Sunday paper (which was supplied by the cafe). The food came after about a 5 minute wait and it was lovely! Cooked to perfection! It was a cheap well worth the price breakfast! I know I will most certainly be going there again for breakfast! I have also had a cornbeef and cheese toastie from there, and it was amazing! I've had vegetable soup with a bap, and as expected that was also amazing! Most certainly worth a visit!! GO!!

Lovely full english breakfast - good value and you get quite a large plate full - accommodate children but more of a meeting place for the older generation! Friendly staff.

By far the best breakfast in the North of England (and maybe further), friendly and fast service, great range of breakfast options, go for the Full English Breakfast though. Great coffee, breakfast cooked to order and comes piping hot and fresh. Great views, location and parking. If you are in the North East, well worth a visit.

This little café on the top of the cliffs at Sunderland, is brilliant. It must have one of the best views out over the North Sea, of any café on the East Coast. It provides everything from breakfasts to Sunday lunches, and virtually everything in between. It always seems busy with locals, workmen, cyclists and holiday makers. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are great. They also do takeaway drinks and food. If you are on the beach in Sunderland, this is the place to visit for a snack or a full meal. Plus it has outside seating for dogs lovers etc.,

For many years I never gave any thought to going into this cafe as I mistakenly pre-judged it as being probably a very small "greasy Joe" type of place... how wrong was I! Accepting an offer of breakfast from my elsest son, I first visited last year and was pleasantly suprised. It's like a tardis-small on the outside but opens up inside with the rear of the building having a full width window that directly overlooks the piers, coved beach and lower promenade of Roker-absolutely beautiful. Although the furniture and decor is plain, it's clean and tidy and more importantly the ladies who run it are amongst the friendliest, most welcoming, people I've come across. They always smile and having something nice to say to their customers and clearly make an effort to remember previous visitors and have built up an obvious regular clientele. The menu is modest but offers a variety from breakfasts, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and having now been back several times, I think I've probably got most of it covered and have enjoyed everything I've sampled! The full english breaky is HUGE so I've now taken to ordering the "small" which actually is still VERY filling. It's the kind of place where you can go in for something to eat or just a cuppa even if you're on your own-which I've also done-and you don't feel "odd" or awkward. When the weather's good there is the opportunity to sit outside also, with the tables a little further along so you can still see through the ornate stone wall, out to sea, after which you can enjoy a lovely walk to burn off those calories! An added advantage is the handful of FREE parking spaces directly beside the cafe. This cafe goes to show you should never be steriotypical, judge a book by it's cover etc etc-take yourself there-it's well worth it.

Over the years we've visited this little cafe a number of times. It's in a great location with good views over Roker harbour and pier. The food is pretty average but it's honest fare served by friendly staff. On our visit this Sunday morning all I could do was nurse a cappuccino and a hangover while staring out to sea. My wife had not indulged in quite the same way so happily tucked into a sizeable fried egg sandwich. She was happy and thankfully the caffeine helped ease my pain sufficiently to enable us both to enjoy a nice walk on the lovely nearby beach.

My husband and I had the duck with waffles and orange sauce, which was so delicious. My little girl was made chips and sausages off menu and she loved it. I have to say the chips were delicious. The hospitality was great and the gentleman who served us was so friendly and connected with the little one so much. We will definite visit again.

When there as a family of four, Being before quite a few times without any problem, but this time me and my son had burgar, chips and extra slice of cheese and onion rings plus its says salard. Both burgars had no salard and were missing extra cheese. The burgars in the photo looked really nice, the ones we got we got were very thin and tasteless. The staff are great but very much doubt we will be back.

First visit here. Lovely ‘proper’ pub with lots of history. Greeted warmly upon arrival and drinks brought to our table. Got the steak and ale pie with veg and mash. Absolutely delicious and home cooked, no microwave meals here. Dessert was ginger pudding which was knockout. Staff were all lovely and we were made welcome. I told them we would be back and we will. It was excellent.
