We went for a family dinner, our first since the pub’s kitchen has reopened. Excellent food. We had a tapas selection starter and then had a variety of main courses (lobster, burgers and burritos). Really tasty. generous portions and great service. Would highly recommend and look forward to going again soo.

We were so lucky to get the last table for three people - and chuffed to bits we did!!! We all decided to skip starters and go straight to mains (we all had our eyes on the delicious desserts!) X2 ordered the roast pork and I ordered the beef (which does normally get served pink but on request can be served more well done - I prefer pink!). We were also offered (extra cost) the mashed potato with truffle - sounded tasty so ordered a dish of that too. Not too much of a wait (restaurant was packed) and out came our fully laden plates with meat, HUGE homemade Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes and veg! Also a side portion of veg and a boart of.extra gravy! Extra sauces are available (horseradish etc). We all tucked in - and it soon became apparent there was no chance of us managing dessert as this was far too tasty to leave a morsel! Veg was cooked perfectly (hate over cooked limp mushy veg!) and the meat was perfect Best roast dinner for ages!

I just firstly want to say thank you to the owner for being so lovely to my dog. My dog is very timid and hid under a seat in the bay window . This was fine all the time I was eating but slightly less so when I’m lying on the floor trying to coax her out. The lovely lady who runs this pub came out with some tasty morsels to help the situation. On to the review, I ended up coming on my own as my partner was ill. I’m a bit anxious at the best of times but want to give my dog some good experiences in dog friendly places. I have never been in here before but walked in and felt quite comfortable . The pub has a proper bar, friendly locals , and I was given a table by the bar with an offer to move f it was too cold. I ordered a coffee which was lovely and hot and quickly delivered. A twinkly happy eyed waiter took my order. Then I enjoyed people watching and reading for a bit. My meal was promptly delivered, it was hot , delicious and just what you want in a Sunday dinner. The yorkshires were big and fluffy and the roasties crispy and fluffy on the inside. The vegetables were delicious and fresh, I particularly liked the roast carrot and cabbage, all with tasty meaty gravy and a jug on the side. I had a nice chat with a gentleman while I waited for my food, and the people on the next table were very sweet helping herd my dog out. All in all, this is completely my kind of pub. It has a lovely community feel to it. I loved the bar, the people, the food and the service. I will definitely be back with my partner and a walk by the river afterwards. If you are reading this review unsure whether to go, I think if you try it , I can’t see anything not like. Cheers!

After a pleasant walk from Morpeth we decided to try the Plough for lunch. We sat at a table for 2 and I ordered some drinks while we browsed the menu. I had a pint of well kept real ale and my wife a glass of Shiraz. The landlord was very friendly and attentive as was his partner. We both ordered the lamb and when the landlord brought the cutlery he suggested we might wish to move to a bigger table if we wanted to spread out which was a nice gesture. The lamb was perfectly cooked for my liking (very slightly pink but melted in the mouth). They had rice pudding on the dessert menu and as it is my favourite dessert I had to try it. And it was delicious. I have never had rice pudding topped with melted chocolate (usually a fruit jam) but I would recommend it. We will definitely be back to sample other things on the menu.

First visit to this wonderful, atmospheric pub for an excellent Sunday lunch. Warm welcome from the lovely landlady Cath who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. All staff were excellent too. Food was beautiful- top quality, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Our visit brightened up a dreary January day and lifted our spirits. Speaking of which, a very good non-alcoholic Doonbar beer was available too. We'll definitely return soon.

A great place to pop in for a quick drink, or a whole evening. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the drinks very reasonably priced and the locals very friendly too. The owners are very attentive and welcoming and this is also a dog friendly pub which allows those that can't get out because of their canine family to pop in too. When they were serving food it was always fantastic, and I am sure it will be again when it starts again. Great family run business which I am happy to support - please do too!

Called in the plough about 6 weeks ago (haven't had time to review before now) We haven't been in for quite a long time as it did close down for quite a few years and just never really got round to it...we used to love the food and atmosphere here Was really hungry while out with the dogs so thought we'd give it a go ...only one person sitting at the bar on a Saturday afternoon ? We were made feel so uncomfortable and totally unwanted it took the owner/barman a good 5 mins to come and serve us and how grumpy was he ?...we felt like we were sitting in a dentists waiting room scared to speak above a whisper Ordered 2 coffees and 2 jacket potatoes 1 with beans and 1 with tuna as we only wanted something quick...quick ? omg 20 mins for coffee and half an hour for potatoes and we were the only customers there apart from 1 man sitting drinking !!! £7 for tuna and £6 for beans...rip off...they were the worst beans ive ever eaten in my life i dread to think where they buy them from they were tiny hard tasteless and watery...i left 3/4 of my lunch as the potato wasn't cooked in the middle and the lettuce was brown round the edges, hubby called his tuna slop! it was 90% mayo and 10 % tuna it was that bad...not much change out of £20 for the privilege ...disgusting Making it worse i assumed it was the so-called chef who came into the bar from the back (very scruffy looking) complaining about the bookings he had for later that evening and did they realise how difficult it was for him to juggle cooking his veg in the microwave while doing other prep work ? really ? very unprofessional to whinge like that in front of paying customers ! Normally I would go and complain if my food isn't cooked properly but my husband just wanted to just get out of there as he felt quite sick after what he had eaten so I left the pub really hungry … NEVER EVER to return... Such a disappointment, but I speak as I find

This was our first visit for Sunday lunch. We chose roast lamb and beef. There was ample meat and plenty of veg all of which was very tasty. I think one of the most important ingredients of a good Sunday lunch is the gravy. Called in here on way home to Newcastle and although it was very quiet with just a few locals and their dogs, we were greeted by the owner and picked a table. Drinks ordered a beer and a half lager we decided on local lamb chops with a mustard sauce, creamy mash and peas and for himself fish and chips. Hubby said it was the best fish and chips he had ever had, batter amazing and chips nice and thin. My lamb chops unfortunately came covered in the sauce and as I like to pick my chops up to get all the meat off this was a little messy but the chops were very tasty and nice sauce but would have been better in a little jug on the side, mash was very nice too. We would certainly go back and definitely recommend, we noticed there was an OAP menu as well.

Booked in advance for a table for seven for Sunday lunch. On arrival had a large spacious table and it was nice to see a pub busy but not crowded. The set menu gives a choice of starter, main course and desserts. You only pay for the number of courses you have. We all skipped starters but went for the roasts with a choice of chicken, lamb, beef and pork. The meals arrived with huge amounts of meat plated up with all the trimmings of roast vegetables and Yorkshire puddings etc and gravy- so if there’s something you don’t want please mention it when ordering. Additionally a large dish of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots was served for the table to share. The dessert selection was tiramisu, apple crumble , sticky toffee pudding, cheesecakes served with custard or ice cream. The beer choice was local real ales as well as the usual lagers and wines. We all enjoyed it and will go again. The only negative was that the lamb was a bit over cooked. Service friendly, helpful and efficient. It’s great to find a nice pub. Thank you.

Kath and her team were so friendly and cheerful Adam made us feel very welcome. We will definitely return.A really good country pub with excellent food and the mint sauce was the real stuff!

We visited the pub for dinner, and did not know what to expect. The chef did a great job, lovely meal, home cooked, and managed the bar too. Great job he did.

This place seems to be under new management, and not very good ones at that.Hubby was ignored at the bar for ages, and when our food came it was the wrong order. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and we were not impressed.Won't be returning.

The Plough has just changed management and the new owners are off to a flying start. We stopped in for a family lunch and from a wide choice on the chalkboard we all went for the 10oz sirloin steak. The plates arrived promptly, the steaks were cooked just as we'd ordered, were very generously portioned, and came with excellent hand cut chips. We just about found room for puddings, mint cheesecake, and rocky road. Both were really good. The pub is friendly and welcoming, and the service was first rate. Good range of beers and other drinks, and good value. All in all, everything you'd want from a traditional country pub.

Out & about in beautiful Northumberland on a glorious day. Morpeth bursting at the seams and nowhere to park so we wandered out of town & came across the Plough by chance. The staff were lovely & very helpful & the food excellent. I can recommend the chicken pie - home made, real veggies & loads of gravy. Mind you the portions were huge so sadly no room for a pud!

All food served is home cooked, My dad and I had the Lamb which was divine and mam had the beef, vegetable are cooked to perfection and yorkshire puddings delighful will be going back for an evening meal as I know the service will be Just as good as the staff are brilliant and the food I know will be as good also. The food tasted fresh and we cleaned our plates! It was lovely! The staff are warm and inviting and the fact we could take our dog with us made a huge difference, he is a big part of our family and it was refreshing to be allowed to have a meal out with him.

This venue has had a topsy/turvy past with good and bad spells and also closure. However under relatively new ownership and management ,it is now worth a regular visit by locals particularly. Tuesday night has a special beefburger and chips at a fiver . Well its more than that ,its an excellent size and quality and taste plus a selection of 2 toppings e.g bacon, onions, cheeses and 4 sauces and proper chips. The local real ales were excellent all served by helpful, cheerful staff. It was busker night ,so live music and songs ,albeit a little loud for size of venue, not really needing a PA system. Sunday lunches are extremely popular and the place busy. We will be back and hopefully more locals of Morpeth also .

I recently visited with family and friends. The food was excellent and the staff very approachable. The fish and chips which were enjoyed by 3 members of the group was out of this world. I would recommend this establishment and will visit again when in the area.

Half way through a tough long walk in the area we were delighted to find this terrific little pub/restaurant open. It was early afternoon. When we arrived there was a couple in eating which looked like a very nice meal. There were 4 real ale's on and I tried 2 of them. They were both in perfect condition. My wife had cider and black which was also perfect. Another couple came in and had soup and coffee. The staff were very attentive. The place, including the toilets were very clean. We can thoroughly recommend the place and were delighted to find it open after reading that it was permanently closed!

It's on dog friendly websites and it is. It's also very people friendly. Great ales and a good choice of lagers and cider. The tradittional food was good, but the choice of curries is amazing. Not your usual pub curry, this is the real thing. Not the same choice as an Indian restaurant, but the same taste, if not better, than most. I was surprised to hear the chef was not Asian, but Scottish. Who would have guessed?Lovely staff, lovely surroundings, lovely pub.I must say, after asking the usual question about local support, most of the people in the pub were not locals. This is a real shame, a local pub needs local support.Hey, never mind, keep up the good work and stay with those brilliant curries.

Went to the Plough Inn for a birthday celebration and had the Sunday lunch. I've never had a better lamb roast! The meat was perfect and with a generous selection of veg to go alongside as well as perfectly cooked roast potatoes and yorkshire puds, I left absolutely stuffed and very impressed. The staff were very friendly and brought us some more gravy when they noticed we'd run out without us needing to ask. There is a good selection of drinks on offer including some lovely local ales at very reasonable prices. Will definitely be heading back there soon!

We visited here on a Sunday lunch time in a party of about 30 to celebrate a birthday. It had been many years since we had visited last and Mind and I were well impressed. The place had a great atmosphere and an excellent selection of local ales. Service was first class and staff were all a credit to the business. We had probably one of the best Sunday roasts we can remember having locally. Although our party invaded the place we thought they coped really well and without any fuss. We were made welcome and were well looked after. This place is certainly worth a visit and is now on our list of places to eat and drink. Well done The Plough this is what a pub should be like, great food, great beer and great service. Thank you.

For standard chat pub food this place is really great. Meat is cooked really well, there can be no complaints about the vegetables and all the condiments you could fancy came quickly. It was served with a smile and with a bit of craic from the waitress. The atmosphere is family friendly and reasonably priced. For what you pay and what you get, there's no other place I'd recommend on a Sunday.

As one of a group of cyclists from Newcastle Great Park, it’s always a good stop off before the final stretch back home. Butties and a drink 👍, along with friendly service. Courtyard round the back is great when the weather allows.

Fabulous food with a large menu. Reasonably priced with large portions.Very friendly staff and attentive service.Loved the Spanakopta starter and the Lamb Kleftico.Good choices for chicken dishes. The breakfasts are varied and tasty. The best of all was the Sunday lunch with 5 choices of meat, just fabulous.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.
