Been following this page for a while now and drool when I looked at all the cakes, but living in Essex was too far for me. Can you imagine my delight when I discovered they were doing online orders delivered to your home. Well first box arrived on Friday and did not disappoint these cakes are gorgeous, cherry Bakewell brownie is my favourite from the 6 we ordered, Grandson's is the Oreo brownie. They are all so tasty. Now the dilemma is what do we order for the next batch!

We booked the private dining room for a birthday celebration and have to say it was perfect! We had liaised with Craig, the manager over the last 4 weeks and he ensured all our requirements were met. We arrived last Saturday night to be greeted by Charlotte and our party of 17 was shown to the room, she was extremely helpful and friendly. The room had been set out as we wanted it and decorated tastefully. Charlotte checked that the pre-order was correct and arranged for the first courses to be served. Food was exceptional, gaps between courses so we could chat and staff very attentive to ensure drinks were topped up when needed and any sauces etc. were required plus checking to ensure the food was OK. The party was a great success and everyone enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Many thanks to Charlotte, Aaron and Joe, who all worked hard to ensure the night was enjoyed by all and were a credit the Vane Arms. Thanks also to the Chefs, who created some great dishes and all served in a timely manner, highly recommend the crème brûlée, absolutely perfect!

We went to the Roundel for dinner, we was welcomed by the staff and cracking service, ordered at the bar and was offered Garlic bread where I refused but thanks. The food was lovely hot and plenty. Well done to the kitchen staff, bar and waiter(S) Will come again in the future.

As we’d read good things about the place on here, and needed a bit of a pick-me-up due to having a few drinks the night before, we decided to head there for breakfast. View is lovely, and the cafe interior is really nice. The place was busy when we arrived and there were only two empty tables, so we cleared one for ourselves and sat down. We ordered cooked breakfasts and hot drinks. We had about a 30 minute wait before anything arrived at our table. Usually I’d expect the drinks to arrive first, especially if there’s a bit of a wait for the food, but the drinks arrived with/slightly after the food. This did mean we were sat with nothing for half an hour, with a bit of a thirst on. The breakfasts were ok. The bacon and black pudding were nice, beans and tomato just as you’d expect (although you get a slice of tomato, rather than a whole one, which seems a bit tight). The sausages, however, were the cheapest, nastiest sausages I have ever had the misfortune to eat, and I’m surprised they’ve not addressed this, as it’s been mentioned in reviews before. I wasn’t expecting locally produced or butcher’s sausages, but these were just horrid. The mushrooms had seen better days, and those and the hash brown and fried egg just tasted of old cooking oil. Kids had toasties and chunky chips which looked quite nice. Cheese in the toasties was also a bit cheap-tasting but the kids didn’t mind that! Service was fine, staff seemed polite enough. We spent just under £50 for two adults and two kids, which was a lot considering the cheapness of the ingredients. I wouldn’t personally return.

Used to come here years ago and were driving past and thought let's pop in. Decor is definitely a bit dated but the place was clean. Staff were nice. Ordered food and it came very timely .... and what a delight! Absolutely wonderful home cooked style food. My steak pie was like a Sunday lunch and my wife's fish goujons were plentiful and really lovely. Went out of our way to tell the staff how nice it was and they were delighted .... always give praise when praise is due!! These local places need to be supported because they are an absolute delight.

We have been avoiding going out but we decided to celebrate our 43rd anniversary of our first date and went out for lunch to one of our favourite places on a Saturday at 12:30. The Hotel is very covid conscious and has a NHS bar code to login to the app for track and trace. We sat in the conservatory with fantastic views of the gardens, really relaxing. We had a mixture of meals form the Bar and standard lunch menu. All served well, delicious and arrived promptly but we were never rushed. A Quality dining experience making our anniversary even more special. Many thanks The Head waiter is outstanding, and we will return.
