Great food at a great price. Highly recommend! Dog friendly and great customer service. Live an hour away but will definitely be coming back!

Stopped at this place during a day out to grab some lunch- the sign on the door took me back a bit, saying they would refuse service if you had a seafood/shellfish allergy due to not being able to guarantee cross contamination. I understand safety is paramount, however, it made me question if it was the same for other allergies and if not how can you manage one and not another, especially for somewhere with a 5 star food hygiene rating. Anyway, regardless of that we went in but were greeted in an unfriendly manner, after asking for a table and some debating between 2 staff members they said they could sort one but it was cash only on a Sunday. This wasn't displayed anywhere and strange for only one a day week. We didn't have any cash, so we didn't stay but to be honest, we felt as though our face didn't fit anyway. Wasn't a very welcoming environment unfortunately.

Excellent venue for the lovely lunch provided. The barman was friendly and made us very welcome. My friend opted for the Chicken Fajita wrap, I had the Beef Stew, with veg and mashed potato. Both on the Daily Special board. The beef was Succulent in a tasty gravy with hot fresh vegetables. My friend enjoyed her CF wrap. This was accompanied by fries. She bought a take out Chilli Dog for her husbands tea. We will be back soon.

Honestly we came for a night stay through work and we luckily sat down on a off chance with the owners of the pub and they are such lovely people.. we are from the ribble Valley and this place is very similar with and friendly atmosphere..the rooms are lovely and well presented with local cows milk for your coffee in the morning(bonus) and they are also a green hotel which might interest people too.. breakfast was just great.. on top of that the owners sent me and my colleague chips and sauces after a long day at work and 2 pints on the house.. I can't fault my experience and I'll be asking work to book us in here again.. thank you the world is a better place with people like you... x

We popped in for a coffee & something sweet. The cafe is dog friendly, in a separate area, which is good as not everyone likes dogs. The staff were lovely, polite & attentive. We only had a cup of tea & a tea cake but both were good. The tables had a selection of card games, which we thought was a lovely idea. We came home & bought one of the games for a Christmas gift. We will pop in again next time we are in Alnwick & try something from their menu.

New system communicated on back of table menus states that customers are restricted to 90 minutes. My friend and I had a drink and sandwich/soup and after an hour were rudely asked by the proprietor to leave! Prior to this she had been rude and at the till was again abrupt and rude. My friend and I could not believe her attitude. The other staff are very pleasant. We all have bad days but there is absolutely no excuse for the way we were spoken to. Needless to say she will not receive our custom again.

Delicious Sunday Lunch. Stopped off for lunch after a family walk. The Sunday lunch was worth the wait . Freshly cooked, meat plentiful and beautifully cooked. Well presented. Staff pleasant and polite. Dog friendly and good seating areas. Thoroughly recommend. Thanks to all.

A brilliant find. We stumbled on The Black Cock by chance, during an unplanned overnight in the area. We hadn’t booked, but we were instantly made welcome and offered a table. The place had a beautifully warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff were just brilliant. The food and beer were delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and it’s probably just as well I don’t live nearby or I’d probably be in here too often!

Quality local cafe, couldn’t do enough for us. Great breakfast, friendly, we even got a slice of homemade cake from the locals. Highly recommended.

Just had a lovely family meal, the service was very good and all the food was top notch. The price was excellent for what we received. The atmosphere was very friendly and bustling. We will definitely be back.

One of our favourite places to eat . The food is always extremely tasty , well presented and generous. The restaurant is always spotless and the staff all friendly. To top it off, there is a good range of well kept ales.

Many thanks to Simon, Sarah, and Gang for a fantastic stay. We arrived a little early after a very long drive. Simon let us into our room and gave us a Happy Anniversary balloon 🎈. Which was such a lovely touch. Room 5 was very clean and tidy, and it has everything you could want. I enjoyed a lovely soak in the bath before dinner, which was fabulous 👌... We had drinks in the bar & a lovely meal. Always a bonus when vegetarians are catered for. 😃 The macaroni cheese was yummy. My hubby had gammon, eggs, and chip which he said it was excellent. Lots of choice on the menu and such a great atmosphere. We slept really well and had a wonderful breakfast before leaving. Lots of choices, cereals, juice toast, and a cooked breakfast. All served piping hot & cooked to perfection. We can't thank you enough for your making us feel so welcome ☺️

We had a table of ten booked for Easter Sunday lunch only to find out (from a friend) the evening before that they are closed due to a power cut. I understand that these things happen and it is beyond their control but they didn't even ring to inform us directly. We have family that have travelled 3 hours from Scotland for this. Absolutely terrible customer service!
