Just had a lovely family meal, the service was very good and all the food was top notch. The price was excellent for what we received. The atmosphere was very friendly and bustling. We will definitely be back.

This is a nice place to have a drink and there is a friendly atmosphere The food I had on this day was average at best. Nothing bad, just average tasting food. The burger looked good, but had little flavour and was a little dry.

We thought we would try the county for a change Started with smoked salmon fish cake Mediocre and a distinct lack of fish Followed by fish n chips Chips were good Batter on the fish was soggy and limp The fish had a faint smell And I had bad guts all night Won’t be going back plenty of other places for decent food in hexham

Food was amazing! Definitely recommend the Korean chicken as a starter, had a kick but so much flavour. Portion sizes were great and staff all seemed friendly and attentive. Would definitely return. We used our Buyagift voucher and it was easy to book and use. I’m very happy we picked this restaurant, would be happy to come back again!

Visited with a colleague. Nice surroundings. I found the service was good. Waitresses were very attentive. Food was disappointing. I had hunters chicken which was tasty but the portion size was tiny. Food looked lost on the plate. One small chicken breast that had been butterflied. Small single layer of skin on fries. Colleague had Korean chicken. Which looked good but again we felt the portion size was on the small side. Would not avoid but would not rush back given what else is available in Hexham.

Often dread eating out near Christmas as it can often a bit of a disaster. The hotel was very very busy, but they coped really well. Food came quickly, spiced cauliflower soup, then fish and chips. All freshly cooked and extremely good value for money from their standard weekday lunch menu. Staff friendly, efficient, worked really well as a team. Impressed.

We had food here on a Friday night and again on Sunday lunch time. The food is brilliant. Lovely staff as well and our pooch even got looked after. Brilliant is not the word!

We stayed over on Sunday evening as a short weekend break to do some walking in the beautiful Hexhamshire countryside. The reception at the hotel was great particularly as there were driving restrictions on the road outside, the landlady came out and pointed out where to park which was kind of her. We dropped our bags off and enjoyed a drink before setting off on our first walk, on return we were taken to our room which was well equipped , clean and spacious. We had a late Sunday lunch and contrary to some other comments we noticed that all the staff were very attentive, friendly and above all polite and helpful. Our stay was top class and we are contemplating staying again when we next call up for a race meeting. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Food was good but service terrible and they didn't honour the evening specials deal advertised. Be wary getting ripped off!

We had a last minute meeting in Hexham so decided to make an afternoon of it. The lady in the bank suggested lunch here as they’d had their works ‘Christmas do’ and it was lovely. Busier than I expected for a Monday lunchtime with most of the tables occupied. Friendly staff, a great value menu and lovely comfortable surroundings. We ordered a main each at £5.95 and a starter each for £2 - wow! Garlic mushrooms with a slice of garlic ciabatta and Cajun chicken with a very nice tangy mayo for starters. Very generous portions that were delicious. Shepherds pie and sausage and mash both served with seasonal veg for the mains. Again very generous and tasty. Unfortunately too full for dessert but I’ll have it next time. Definitely worth a little trip out just to return here for lunch.

Visited for Sunday lunch and while the food was good the service was very poor. After the mains were brought to the table that was was last contact we had until we paid. They never checked the food was okay or if we wanted more drinks. We would have liked desserts but after we had finished the mains no one came to see if we would like anything else they carried on clearing tables around us so in the end we gave up and went to the bar to pay as it was almost impossible to get anyone’s attention they would much rather all stand round the bar to chatting to each other. Even as we were packing to leave they still didn’t come to the table to check on us. Probably wouldn’t visit again.

This Hotel does the best steak and onion sandwiches I've ever eaten .I am 75 but looked after hotel and catering in my working life The steak was cooked to perfection in a ciabatta long bun with a beautiful side salad and a to die for dressing. Home fries delicious .if I could score you 10 I would .we all enjoyed every morsel, thank you . It's not fast food but cooked to order it's the best .

Very poor customer service. Walked out,won't be returning. Not suitable for children who need highchairs. Bar staff not helpful at all.

We reserved a table here using the booking system and received a very friendly response. We received a nice welcome and were shown to our table in the very brightly lit restaurant. After we ordered our drinks, it was explained that a limited menu was being offered. Even as non meat eaters, we still felt there was a reasonable choice however. Service was friendly and efficient although the size, layout, decor and lighting reminded us a bit more of a canteen than a restaurant. However I think it would be great for a group night out or a family lunch. Value was very good and the food was fine, although not spectacular.

My husband and I had a lovely Sunday lunch here. He had been and I the moracan roast Sunday lunch. They were absolutely delicious. The service was very good and the food really quick. Delicious.

We all enjoyed our food. Everything was well cooked, well presented and tasty. Portion sizes were good. It has an extensive menu with something for everyone. The choices are just good honest food. The service we received from all members of staff was good. The girl who served us (we think she was the deputy manager, but either way she was a credit to the place) was really friendly and spent a while chatting to us about our disappointing visit to Slaley Hall (a supposed 4 star golf/spa hotel not too far away). If we lived locally we would probably go there every week, but, as we don't, we'll just have to make the effort to visit the area again! Given the choice of 4 star hotel or the County Hotel it would be a no-brainer, even though we haven't seen the bedrooms. The restaurant and bar area, with great food is enough to convince us we would be well looked after. There was a deal for 2 courses at £16 and 3 courses at £18. Well worth it.

We liked this restaurant so much - we went twice! On both occasions we received a warm welcome when shown to our table (we booked in advance both times) which was just as well as the restaurant was very busy. The restaurant is over several rooms/areas and the tables are well spread out. The service was very attentive and efficient, the food excellent, with large portions and very reasonable prices. An extensive menu indeed and the food well cooked and served. The menus were wiped down when returned to the bar area between customers.

Dropped in for Sunday lunch and can honestly say it was the best I've had in a long time. Enormous Yorkshire pudding, loads of of meat and perfect roasties, even the gravy was good. Didn't have room for afters. Excellent service as well.

Great friendly service and great food - small portion of fish n chips (as per menu choice) with gluten free option available. Fish was perfectly cooked in lovely crispy batter. Haven’t visited in a while but will return soon.

We popped in while our car was in at the local garage, lovely service with a smile! Food was very nice& the Ringtons tea pot was absolutely lovely to go with... Will definitely visit again soon!

Had a very nice Sunday dinner here. Friendly service lots of choice and good quality food. Fish mixed grill is massive and the venison steak was a good size and perfectly cooked medium rare. Overall a very a nice meal and would recommend.

We stayed here on the last leg of our U.K. staycation this month. When we arrived outside the hotel it looked lovely with all the flowers and hanging baskets and very well located, right on the high street. Once inside we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is beautiful and very modern in decor. We were greeted by a member of staff straight away and told all about the restaurant, residents lounge area etc etc before being shown to our room. We had booked a deluxe king room and again we were very happy. The room is beautiful and has everything you can think of...and more. Even ear plugs incase you need it for the noise on the street, which we didn’t. A lovely modern bathroom with the added extra of cushioned lino, a lovely bath and free bath bombs within the vanity pack. We ate our evening meal in the hotel which was also beautiful. My husband had the smoked haddock fish cake to start followed by the seafood mixed grill which he said were both amazing. I had chicken goujons, lasagne and yes a desert also...sticky toffee pudding and all 3 were beautiful. The best food we had on our 10 day staycation without a doubt. We both had a very comfortable night and woke for breakfast the next day. Breakfast was again beautiful and we left very happy. The girl who served us both our evening meal and breakfast was very happy and cheery, didn’t get her name but a blonde haired girl..maybe the manageress? We loved it so much we have booked to stay again between Christmas and New Year this year and also again next year. Would definitely recommend this hotel and can’t wait to visit again.

Really like the feel of this place. It’s very cozy and decorated fantastic. Great lunch menu with lots of options and good value for money.

Had a lovely meal here last week, the pub is very clean and nicely decorated. Staff friendly and attentive. Food lovely, would recommend the Lamb.

From entering the County it was clear that they are serious about protecting staff and customers from COVID. Plenty of hand sanitizer and the NHS app QR code available. The food was amazing. The staff were marvellous. Constantly going around cleaning tables and making sure everyone is ok. Couldn’t recommend this pub/restaurant highly enough. Well done

Best COVID friendly venue I have visited. Staff were superb, attentive and friendly. Fish and chips was the best I’ve had and the fish pie was also unbelievably good. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back

Had lunch today with hubby Paddy. We are both NHS and have worked through strange times, we are nervous about the restart but know it needs doing.If you want perfect food in COVID-19 secure area in a great pub with amazing staff you can't beat this place. Menu fantastic I had cod Paddy had scampi.

Spending a few days in Hexham when we stumbled across this restaurant, exceptionally clean and following Covid 19 social distancing and hygiene to the highest standard possible. All staff where very friendly and the food was fantastic at reasonable prices. Mrs Moose had the small portion of fish and chips but it was actually as big as any full portion she’s had at any other establishment. Highly recommended and we would definitely return.

Out tonight for a midweek meal and blown away by the the steak pie they have on the menu, Amazing taste and portion size is more than sufficient, Staff are courteous and attentive, will come back on our next visit to Hexham .

Staff friendly, helpful and very easy to talk to. Food as always came without hesitation and hot and fresh. Highly recommend this to couples or family for a quick stop or a night meal.

The County Inn is nothing other than outstanding and I will be sure to make the 3 hour trip just to visit this restaurant again. After a very unfortunate experience in another restaurant in Hexham earlier that evening, which resulted in us leaving, we were warmly welcomed at the County Inn. Despite having not booked a table, we were immediately seated. After Covid-19 measures not being correctly followed in the other restaurant we had visited, we were all hugely anxious about eating out that night. However, the staff at the County Inn made us feel so safe. All measures were followed by all staff at all times. This even included handing our menus out with a pair of tongs which we thought was an amazing idea! It is clear that the happiness of the customer is an absolute priority for the staff at the County Inn. I am particularly thankful to our waitresses Fiona and Joanne who kept us smiling and laughing all night. It is wonderful to see staff who clearly love their job. The food was delicious with an excellent range of food to choose from. I will certainly be visiting the County Inn again, as well as recommending it to others. Thank you again to all of the team at the County Inn who have made what started as an awful night into the best night of our holiday in Hexham!

We were so fortunate to walk into this absolutely outstanding restaurant whilst on holiday in Hexham this week. We had just had a terrible experience at another restaurant in Hexham that night and were so lucky that The County had a table available without a booking. At the previous restaurant we were appalled at the lack of any pandemic guidelines being followed, resulting in us all feeling quite nervous about eating out. I simply can't say enough good things about The County, they were friendly, attentive and were following proper pandemic guidelines. They served drinks without touching the glasses, they took our orders knelt down, and they gave us menus using tongs, which we thought was an excellent idea! We also liked the fact that they had a 'sanitising station' and USED It. We saw waiters and waitresses putting menus in there and making sure that when they took things out they cleaned them thoroughly before taking them to tables. Our special thanks go to Fiona and Joanne, who from the moment we walked in made us feel welcome and helped us to get over our awful experience at the other restaurant. It was lovely to see people who enjoyed what they do and went above and beyond during the pandemic whilst keeping a smile on their face!

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent evening meal - huge portions, perfectly cooked, impeccably served and at £13 for 2 courses excellent value and even better with the government “Eat out to help out” promotion which halves the bill - brilliant.

Our second stay here - this time following the lifting of Covid restrictions. Lovely place to stay, very clean and comfortable. This is a really well run hotel and the staff are great. Breakfast freshly cooked and service with a smile. Can’t wait to return!

Visited on Friday for a drink with friends, great welcome, lovely pleasant staff, everything very well thought through in terms of distancing & sanitisation, a very pleasant experience, may be back tomorrow for food as it looked amazing! Thank you to Jamie & what I’m assuming was the owner, great first visit! You could’ve left the men in the snug, we wouldn’t have complained!

Very lovely atmosphere, great staff ,and food. Hygiene very Important and very covid minded . Hand sanitizing stations at the doors,and around the establishment, but also unintrusive.

Was recommended 2 come here had the 2 course Sunday lunch lovly airy modern dining room home made pate was absolutely delicious as was lamb 2 follow really good price excellent food

This was the second time we have eaten here in maybe 6 weeks. The first time we chose off the lunchtime menu and although the food was really tasty the size left us still feeling peckish.The second time we decided to choose from the main menu to ensure a bigger portion.Even though we had starters and a main meal, neither of them were of a size that left us feeling satisfied.The staff were really friendly and the place was spotless. Food was absolutely delicious, just not enough of it which is the reason we have not given 5 stars.

We had a couple of meals here whilst staying in Hexham. The staff were very friendly. Service was swift and the decor modern and easy on the eye. There were many offers available, something I’m not normally keen on but we did take advantage and I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The sea bass was delicious and the burgers were tasty. Ok it’s not gourmet but if you want a decent meal at a reasonable price and with good service, then this pub can’t be faulted.

Had a great light lunch here during a visit to Hexham. Delicious sharing platter, very reasonably priced, excellent service, great choice of beers. Thank you. Would not hesitate to return.

I visited on a busy Saturday night with a group of friends. We ate in the bar. We had a range of food, some from the specials, some from the 3 courses for £14. It was all really good. The starters arrived in quick time. The mains were a short time thereafter and the deserts ,at our request, quickly too.The range and quality of beers was also very goodI will go again.

We arrived for Sunday lunch and was amazed by the fact there was the normal menu aswell as Sunday Roasts. We both had the 3 courses as it was £15.95. Portion sizes were generous and great tasting, all very fresh. Definitely worth a visit.

We were visiting Hexham with our dog and decided to have lunch. Although the busy was extremely busy, we were allowed to take our dog with us.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The service was friendly and efficient, the restaurant was smart but casual with a good atmosphere and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had the bean burger, which can be dry but this one was really tasty and the chips were excellent!

On entering this establishment you can tell it is well loved, the decoration and cleanliness is to be commended on. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is an excellent selection of drinks and food. We were not eating on this occasion but the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and empty plates were being taken back so that speaks for itself. We will come here to eat in the future.

Very out of date menu - The pies on the menu stated that they were made with puff pastry - however when the steak pies arrived it turns out they were short crust pastry. The steak was fatty and also contained mushrooms which were not listed on the menu. Very bad tasting and uncooked chips accompanied the main meals. When we complained to the staff they were very rude and abrupt and were only offered a 30% discount.

I have visited The County a few times since moving to the area a few weeks back and have always had a very enjoyable time. We booked for Sunday lunch and found the restaurant very very busy but the service was as always excellent. I now know why it was so busy as the food was superb and at extremely good value.We have already booked again for next week and will continue to do so I'm sure.

Stopped for a pre-dinner drink at this hotel. Really nice bar and friendly staff but we’ve been here loads of times and it’s always extremely slow service (? Very understaffed) so no good if you’re in a hurry. Cosy atmosphere and nice fusion of modern / traditional country decor and furnishings. Cocktail menu was good and enjoyed a wonderful Aperol Spritz. Can’t fault except one thing - why on earth are you still using plastic straws??

Gone very much downhill with lunchtime specials at £4.95. Had to send back an inedible dish and little choices available. Very poor quality lasagne definitely not homemade. Will not eat there again.

I visited the County with my husband and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food for such a busy pub. Everything was nicely presented and cooked to perfection. Great choice on the menu also. Will definitely be returning.

First time visiting, went for a family lunch. very impressed with the menu choices especially being a vegetarian I had more than one option.Food was great, service was great, staff very welcoming. Would definitely return.

For a hotel I found this place very welcoming, friendly staff and great food quite reasonably priced to.

We decided to spend new year eve at the County, which is always our local and favourite local in Hexham. It was excellent!! £30 for a sit down 4 course meal with coffee, party hat's and blowers and a superb disco. There was real concern taken to ensure food intolerances were carefully managed despite how busy the staff were. Food quality was good, not great, but atmosphere was first rate!! We'll definitely be booking again next year.

How friendly is this venue? Lovely service on such a busy day. Fabulous food. Great homemade chips, fab burgers and cheese sarnies around. Clean and comfy and full of character.

Presently in 150 pounds plus very nice room listening to absolutely huge amount of noise shouting music etc have phoned twice to complain -useless response, if you want a decent sleep and good customer service please go elsewhere. Yes it’s Boxing Day but its quarter past midnight and not a chance of getting to sleep. Cannot even hear tv for noise. Feel sorry for people with kids staying here. Would have better chance of a sleep at a dodgy Formule One. Please decide if you are are trying to be a boutique hotel or a pub where the drinkers rule - both are fine but you can’t do both the way you are doing it. Not fair. Still people yelling as I type at 12.22. Come on.

Go every week for Lunch. Menu is good and food last class. Staff very professional. Never had a bad meal yet. Can highly recommend this Hotel Restaurant.

The Rotary Club of Tynedale meet every Wednesday lunch time for our enjoyable meetings. We have a good choice of food which is very good. New members are welcome to join us.
