The menu for my stuffed pepper said with coleslaw and home made hummus I had asked if I could pass on the coleslaw and asked if maybe I could have a little extra hummus to replace it but when it arrived with a very small pot of crisps, when I queried it I was simply told we have no hummus ! no apology , I was just told the hummus had be replaced with crisps! if they had told me this I’d have selected something else! Food was generally just about ok although a bit bland and required seasoning buy it was well presented, the salad had no dressing. When we paid the waitress asked was everything ok, and when said there was no hummus she just shrugged and said they didn’t tell me either! To be honest we’ve been here before and it was fine and good value, but after today I think I’ll avoid.

The service element of this business needs to be looked at the man who appeared to be in charge was grumpy at best and incredibly rude. The Coffee wasn't bad, and the service from the staff was good, but I will never return as his attitude to me and his customer awareness was awful. Whoever he is he needs to take some lessons in customer care.

Found this cafe when visiting Alnwick for the day. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and seemed popular. We arrived a little after they’d stopped serving breakfast. The lunch menu had a selection of sandwiches, soup of the day and quiche - specials were clearly displayed on a blackboard. Despite being busy, service was efficient. I had the onion bhaji and mango chutney quiche and my husband had a tuna and red onion toasted panini. Both came with a side salad and homemade coleslaw and were delicious. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and we will definitely return next time we’re in the area.

The cafe pretends to be dog friendly, the young waiter said yes take the dig to the back but the rude man behind the counter shouted no dogs sit outside, there wasn't any free tables outside and anyway his attitude stank - they must have plenty of money as their customer service is diabolical. Avoid.

We popped in for light lunch on a first time visit to Alnwick. We had soup of the day and coffee afterwards. The soup was curried carrot, sweet potato and mixed beans. There was not really a curry flavour, and there were far too many beans. The coffee was average, not very strong flavour but drinkable. When we got the bill we had been charged for large coffee despite not being asked if we wanted regular or large. The man (owner?) who was in charge had a very abrupt manner. Would not really recommend and won't return..........

The cafe was locally recommended however the service was lethargic at best and they lacked any willingness to accommodate my wife who is lactose intolerant and gluten free, the, I presume, manager just told her the things she couldn’t have apart from a cheese sandwich!! I enjoyed my pea and potato soup and cake but just a good job I don’t have awkward dietary requirements it alll cost £23. There was no warmth in our service. This was a rare day out we get together. Won’t be coming back.

The menu explained they're desperately short staffed in the kitchen so food preparation would be slow which was honest and managed expectations.... Waiting staff were extremely polite and kept apologising profusely. However after 45min to receive two delicious quiches which had been MICROWAVED was desperately disappointing expecially as the pastry was soft and the egg rubbery. Such a shame as tasty and potentially really good. I was asked when paying for my opinion on the Quiche and was told there was no time for it going into the oven ?? For nearly £10 per Quiche/ side salad/tiny pasta side I won't return......

One of those places to me that the menu on the entrance read good for a lunch time meal of either sandwiches/quiche/panini types. So decided to give it a go. We ordered the Quiche of the day, A Ham Roll, a tea and a Can of Sanpellegrino Limonata and it came to £22.60. The food portion size was well controlled and the main parts, Quiche and Ham Roll were of typical portion sizes for a cafe, however the garnishes were minuscule (tight) to say the least. The Limonata was also excessively dear for a soft drink (in my reckoning of what I pay for a can from Sainsbury’s the cafe was pushing towards a 600% mark up!) these bits of pushing the limits of offering good value cause me to give this cafe a 3 star rating and a non return on future visits to Alnwick.

What a really lovely little cafe in the heart of Alnwick. We found the owners very polite and friendly. The food was amazing with some very different choices. My husband had quiche with onion bhajis in which he said was absolutely delicious. Myself and one of our friends had the roasted red pepper soup and another friend had a panini. We all thought that our food was really tasty and of excellent quality. One of our group was coeliac and had beautifully soft gluten free bread. The cakes all home made by the lady owner looked very yummy. Shame we had to save ourselves for an already organised meal at tea time! The cafe and customer toilet etc were spotlessly clean also. On a wet day in Alnwick and having driven up from Harrogate we were looking for a cafe to get a cuppa and some cake. We waited outside for a table - some guests were just leaving (luckily for us) and the table was cleaned before the friendly staff invited us in. There were screens between the tables and the front of house staff wore masks. Very quick to provide menus and take orders for drinks. When we asked about cakes we were invited to look in the chiller once it was clear of other customers. Hot chocolate, teas and chocolate cake were lovely - I even asked the owner what tea bags he uses - Typhoo decaf Gold - and I got 3 cups from my small teapot. Toilets were clean. This was our first experience of a cafe in the new guidelines and we felt completely safe, filling in the track and trace details and handing it to the owner whilst paying the bill.Great to support a lovely, friendly local business!

This cafe was always busy when we were here, and for good reason. The menu is imaginative, food is great and savoury scones particularly were delicious. Nice quirky touch is the small box of quiz questions on each table, which passes the time nicely whilst waiting for your food. We were on holiday here for a week and had lunch here 3 times. Excellent.

This is a lovely cafe just off the main square in Alnwick with an area outside if you prefer it. We came with friends and were impressed with the food, drink and service. There are quiz cards on the table which we found great fun, and others were amused by this. We had Vegetarian flatbread, chicken and chorizo panini and quiches - all were well cooked and devoured. Very reasonably priced and well worth a visit.

Popped in for some lunch when travelling back to our hotel. Lovely friendly staff and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the hummus pot and filled flatbread, a couple of cold drinks and two flat whites. The food was tasty, fresh and if I lived here it would be a regular stop for lunch. Lovely coffee and perfect flat whites.

My partner and I recently ventured to alnwick and thought we would give this place a shot as we parked nearby. I am glad we did. My partner had the Pork Pie Ploughman’s special and I had the vegetarian offering of the same dish. They were both fantastic, as was the young lady and older man that looked after us on our visit and made us feel especially welcome. The cakes looked excellent so we bought a couple of them to take away and enjoy on our way back to our accommodation. Finally we noticed some great photography for sale on the wall so snapped up a framed photo of Holy Island to remind us of our trip. Next time we are up in Alnwick, we will certainly return here. A great little find.

I have been to this Cafe three times now. The last two times have been for breakfast and on both occasions I found it to be excellent. One time I had a bacon and egg bun which was infused with black pudding. Well that’s not hard to get right, you might say, but trust me it is so easy to get wrong. The bacon was perfect and the egg equally so. The infused bun was absolutely delicious. The third time, today, I had the croissant filled with bacon, Brie cheese and tomato and again it was just perfect. Each time I had the locally sourced coffee from Northern Edge, roasters in Berwick. Personally I think this is the best coffee available in the area. The owner served me and I enjoyed the whole experience and will be returning on a regular basis.

Coffee and cake on a sunny afternoon, very pleasant Victoria sponge and decent coffee. Found the service slightly odd, older chap took the order of the people in front of us at the till, but then asked us to take a seat and our order would be taken (which it was by a pleasant young lady}, this happened a couple of times, some served at till and some asked to sit, just found it a bit odd

Unique offering in the town of Alnwick - really good coffee and interesting and tasty food offering. But surprisingly poor quality of welcome, service or even polite attention by the owners/staff.. could do so very much better.

Called in and whilst small we were able to sit outside in the sunshine. Service was prompt and friendly and my toasted teacake excellent whilst the price overall, including two coffees, very reasonable.

Popped in for coffee and a little something. We shared a piece of cake, a raspberry sponge bake, and had coffee and tea. All was very good, but I just think that the person in charge would probably benefit from a charm course. He was not rude, just somewhat abrupt and not particularly welcoming. If you are running a business like this, where you are in constant contact with the general public, it helps if you have a friendly manner.

Ate here with my wife and her parents so needed at table for 4 and were seated straight away. The cafe offers a good variety of quality food and drink. Dishes include (amongst others) delicious homemade quiche, wraps, sandwiches and salads with quite a few veggie and gluten free options. I had a very yummy slice of warm black pudding quiche. Drinks menu has all the usual teas, coffees, hot chocolate and soft drinks (including sparkling fentimans). You'll also find some more unique coffees. I had a "Gibraltar" which is a double espresso topped with a small amount of foamed milk and it was very tasty indeed! Smooth and strong :). Oh and the cake selection is also very good with gf options here too. For me the gingerbread sparkle cheese cake finished off a delicious lunch. Thanks to all at the Olive Branch for a great lunch experience!

This could be a fantastic cafe if the host wasn't so unsmiling, surly and unfriendly. No wonder so many staff leave as he treats them badly. What a shame. It costs nothing to be pleasant.

My wife and I had a lovely lunch here.. I had grilled vegetarian flatbread and she had onion bhaji quiche. Both were absolutely delicious... and contrary to a couple of previous reviewers, we had a good laugh with who I presume is the gentleman owner when he took our order, and his staff were very pleasant and efficient. I'd definitely recommend...
