Delicious Sunday roast yesterday at Dyke Neuk. The trio of meats were excellent and huge portions. We sampled lamb, pork, turkey / sirloin. All came with lots of veggies, roast spuds, mash, gravy. Also the complimentary cheesy leek dish was very tasty. It was made from the recent show prize leek. Thanks guys, we shall be back!

Staff very friendly and accommodating . The Sunday roasts were huge and delicious. I ordered extra meat for my dog and they brought it in a plastic bowl. First time there but certainly not the last. (The couple worse Golden retriever)

We booked without knowing anything about the pub and on a misty early evening we turned up with our little dog. Although very dated inside, there was a friendly atmosphere & the food was really good & very reasonably priced compared to others we've been to this week on holiday in Northumberland. Staff were attentive and pleasant (a rarity in many places!) Well worth a visit

We used to visit this place regularly - although some years ago. It was always good food in a reasonably upmarket pub setting. We called in for the first time in ages recently just for drinks with a view to coming back another time for food. Sadly - there won’t be a return visit. It’s a poor first impression. The car park is scruffy with barely discernible space markings. Inside, the bar is full of outdated looks. There’s the dark and chipped furniture, the ‘crazy plastered’ walls - complete with yellowing paint, and an uninspired ales offering. There were a few locals in at the time and I must say we felt awkward. We checked out the restaurant area - which looked better (just) but the dirty windows were the final straw. Shame - used to be much better.

We visited for the first time today. Dean was very welcoming when we walked in and during our time there. We ordered food from an extensive menu. The thai green curry was excellent, in fact I haven't tasted a better one and my daughter enjoyed her lasagne- there was no shortage of good tasting food on our plates- our compliments to the chef. We'll certainly be back in the future. Thanks

Booked for early Sunday lunch at 12pm. We were given a table next to the gorgeous open fire. Menu was varied and spoiled for choice. We made the mistake of having starters. Gorgeous ,but the size of the Sunday dinner was a site to behold. Loads of meat and veg, enormous Yorkshire puddings and lovely parship crisps to garnish. My partner had the trio of meats and failed to finish. Food was hearty and piping hot, lunch came with extra gravy without having to ask. Perfect. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Glad we booked as it got very busy very quickly.

Everyone was so friendly we felt at home straight away, the food was absolutely gorgeous, the Thai green curry was lovely and plentiful, i had the beetroot wellington ( I am not a vegetarian but it sounded so nice) it was absolutely gorgeous, We tip out hat to the chef. Have visited a while again, we were in two minds about trying again however very glad we did! Although it was quite busy on the bat we were quickly offered seating in the restaurant, where are order was promptly taken. Food was served pretty quickly and was delicious. Have seen some mixed reviews re service and I think this might be down to misunderstanding if it’s all table or bar service, as though our order was taken at the table, I noticed 2 different groups order at the bar. All of the staff were pleasant and it was lovely of the chef to pop out and check if we enjoyed the meals, however the younger team members might need a bit of customer service training as though nice enough did look a bit nervous, this could be down to age/experience which will come in time. Definitely recommend and will visit again next time we are in the area.

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely food served by the chief himself! The bar man brought our dog some treats out (fish 🎣) and with the log burning fires it was a real cosy afternoon. Sunday lunch was nice although a little cold but would be put off returning due to the service. Mainly served by two younger members of staff who were so dismissive and came across rude. Asked one if we needed to order at the bar (which we did) and then someone came to the table to take the order, we explained we'd ordered and she replied right. Fine. Portions were generous but food was just dumped on the table and staff were walking away before we got a chance to ask for condiments. Came to clear the table a left a dirty glass that had just been collected from someone else's table. It was fine and did the job for what we were after but for the prices, I would've expected a better level of service

Sides of chips, salad and beautifully cooked veg. I asked for my venison pink and that is how it came - delicious. We arrived on a wet dismal lunchtime & were immediately enveloped in a warm cosy environment with total adherence to the local Covid safety rules. The menu is huge covering everything from sandwiches, jacket potatoes and toasties through to steaks, fish, curry & pizza and of course a selection of vegetarian choices. Never seen such an extensive lunchtime menu. I had a great black pudding starter with a perfectly poached egg and hubby had a very tasty Thai fish cake. The beef & Guinness pie was full of tasty meat and came with a good selection of well cooked veg. I opted for a pulled pork with cheese glazing baguette and it was huge and overflowing with delicious filling. Both meals came with great chips. Very impressed with everything at this pub and great value. Will definitely leave details of the pub in the holiday cottage we are renting a few miles away. Wish it were my local.

We visited Dyke Neuk last night for our Wedding Anniversary and would not be in a hurry to return. Having read the previous review I fully concur with the impression of the main guy servinng, as his manner was curt and sarcastic. Not a great start to the evening to be greeted as if we d not booked in advance (which we had) and he didn t seem to be listening when I said what name I d actually booked it under. Then we had a long wait before the order was taken and an even longer wait for pur starters to arrive. When my husband asked if they were short staffed he said some staff were still furloughed. Maybe he should consider bringing some back to meet increased demand? I was given a free glass of wine for the inconvenience but Im afraid it didn t compensate at all for the poor welcome. A pity, as the food was actually good and under the Gov scheme very good value.

Great lunch at the Dyke today in their beer garden in the sunshine. The chicken hanging kebab was fabulous! My friend had liver and black pudding which she said was very good too. Very pleasant and efficient service from Angela, and good social distancing between tables with anti bac at entrance if you need to go inside to use loo etc. Would definitely recomend, and even without the Eat Out To Help Out scheme it's very good value for money.

We happened on this on our way to Belsay Hall and were delighted to be able to get in without booking despite Covid restrictions. By common consent our best meal of the holiday...and the cheapest!

Arrived on the first of of 'Eat out Help out' service was slower than anticipated as it didn't appear to be busy. Food when it arrived was very much worth the wait. Excellent presentation, great ingredients and very good portions

Very poor.In regards to the current situation and covid19, social distancing did not seem to apply to the staff when walking past customers crammed into an enclosed space for the queue to order. The one way system was partial (entrance and exit doors were separate, granted, but queuing at the bar to order meant you had to walk back against the crowd, there didn't seem to have a system at all), bar staff touched all glasses being served (not placed on a tray for you to collect off), menus were in the form of a plastic sheet but not once did I see them being wiped down and they were placed on at the end of the bar where every single person hovered over to make their order. I personally did not feel this was a safe environment and actually felt uncomfortable at how lax it was. These places shouldn't be open if they can't put in place the given guidelines. As for the food order... I enquired about dairy-free option as nothing at all is labelled on menu (in good practice you would see items marked with gluten-free, vegetarian, allergy advice etc.) but not here. The member of staff was unable to advise me on which dishes were vegan as actually none of them were - which in 2020 is poor, he asked the chef and came back and told me the ricotta cannoli was an option, I then questioned the fact that ricotta is a cheese, thus dairy... he wasn't sure if it was... asked the chef and much to everyone's surprise cheese is of course dairy... The alternative was a Mediterranean tartlet - which on the menu looks like the only 1 of 2 options that serves vegetarians, he then informed me the chips that come with it are cooked in the same oil as the fish. And being advertised as a vegetarian option this is simply not good enough. As a food catering business you have to get one thing right- what ingredients you use, and either "not knowing" or falsely advertising is unacceptable. Discriminating against people with dietary requirements and having lack of or no choice at all is very poor this day in age, other restaurants manage to cater for everyone, why is this so difficult. My partners sunday roast arrived dry as anything, literally scraped the barrel with shoddy dry meat and a couple of dry roast potatoes on his plate, and this was at 2pm but looked like the leftovers! This experience was made very hard work, and not a very enjoyable one. I certainly will not be returning here when other restaurants have much better options (or just options at all!) and have much more professional expertise in knowing what goes into their food.

Absolutely delicious, freshly cooked food. A big menu could suggest pre-prepared meals. Not at all here, everything we had was full of fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked and full of flavour.Total pleasure to visit, thank you to the wonderful chef and staff.Hope all goes well for you, the guidance you give for post-lockdown safety is clear and easy to follow. There are a lot of places which haven’t opened yet, so we were very happy to find you so welcoming and such a lovely meal.

As always the food was amazing and the portions very generous. A lovely warm welcome and Sarah went above and beyond when one of our party decided after our meals were brought out that she would like some bread and butter with her meal. Sarah sorted it out without any fuss.

We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.

My partner & I came here on Sunday for a spot of lunch we both had Fish & Chips ( I had salad with mine instead of chips) I have to say the fish was amazing I would say 100 times better than you would get at a fish shop. The batter was so light & crispy and the fish tasted so good. The staff made us feel so welcome happy smiling faces and we did not have to wait long before our food came I would whole heartily recommend plants plus for lunch
