The tea rooms are old fashioned and beautiful for it. There's an original range and photo of Newbiggin in the past. The staff were lovely, the food was fabulous, home cooked food and prices were reasonable.

First visit and won't be The last! Fabulous Sunday roast, excellent service and great staff what more could you want.. highly recommend the homemade apple pie.. yum!

Fantastic service from lovely friendly staff. Was seated and asked for drinks and then went on to order, we ordered fish and chips, corned beef pie and a kids meal. All came really quickly, was delicious we the. Went on to have ice creams which was presented beautifully will visit again later in the year when back at newbiggin

Visited the Endeavor today with two friends for lunch. Love this place as I have been many times. The staff are always so friendly and very welcoming,the food was excellent..keep it up Michele and staff you're doing a great job...see you again soon !!

We visited the Endeavour today on a friend's recommendation. I booked a table in advance for 4 people at 1.00pm as I know places get busy for Sunday lunch. We arrived at 12.55 and after waiting 20 minutes no-one came to take our order. Staff were too busy cleaning tables and asking the customers already seated if they needed anything else. At this point a couple came in and their order was taken almost immediately. I stopped the waitress and told her no-one had bothered to take ours. I ordered 4 Sunday lunches + 3 soft drinks. Their Sunday lunch arrived shortly after. The drinks came but at 1.45 I was told our meal would be another 5 mins. 10 mins later it arrived! I was informed by one of the staff that we would not be charged for the drinks because of our long wait. After the meal I paid & was charged £42.75 for 4 Sunday lunches. I am baffled by this amount as it does not divide equally by 4! Either we paid for the drinks or they add a service charge which is not advertised. A total shambles. As an aside a gentleman in a wheelchair came in and was told quite rudely we thought that he would have to get out as there wasn't enough room for him. Our first and last visit!

I haven't been here in a few years, returned today. Still the same as I remember it.I can honestly say that I have never had a single complaint about it.The food is always piping hot and delicious, the staff are always welcoming and friendly.I would happily choose this over any other in the town.

Great food. Hot and very tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was fab. Staff very polite, helpful and chatty. Our two dogs was also allowed inside.

Cutting the complaint to minimum. My wife ordered the Sunday lunch. It looked ok, until she discovered the beef. Thin slices clearly off the supermarket's cooler shelf, difficult to cut, and more difficult to chew. Me, I ordered the chicken tikka. Processed chicken in processed form. The sauce, like the beef, direct from a supermarket shelf, regardless of the flavour printed on the jar, the standard vinegary taste. As the table was being cleared, I quietly mentioned the situation, where the young girl simply laughed. I informed her that it was not a laughing matter, she sniggered, and replied, "oh, I though you were only kidding." Wandered off never to be seen again, in fact,none were seen again until we paid and left. NOT RECOMENDED.

Great little place. I had a raspberry milkshake while other members of the group had scampi or a hot beef sandwich. Everything was great value and really tasty. The place was really busy and the staff were rushed off their feet but they were still really polite and friendly. The decor is quirky, which adds to the experience. Would visit again.

We love coming here! The lady who owns it is honestly the most beautiful soul ever! All home cooked food and the service is always fantastic. The blonde waitress with the nice nails is very good at what she does and it makes you feel right at home. Lasagne was unbelievable! Portion size is just right and always leave smiling and full.❣️

Went in for lunch, at the time it was full and had no room so was planning on sitting outside however just as we got comfy a table became clear inside. The young waitress took out order she was friendly. Our food arrived and we weren’t disappointed, three of us had the fish which was the best I had ever tasted and I’m not a big fish lover. My daughter had the fried chicken which was also fantastic as was a very generous portion to. The manageress was extremely friendly, had a laugh about a walking frame that had been left behind.( I wonder if someone came back to get it)If you are in the area drop in, you won’t regret it.

We recently were on holiday in Newbiggin (1st time - deffo not last). We had a take away Sunday dinner (amazing and so filling). Stopped for a coffee outside with our dogs Alfie (border collie) and Nessa (giddy 8 month old labrador). We decided to book in for a meal. The dog friendly side is a godsend. The meals were lovely with extra large portions so we booked in again for the next day. The lady (sorry didn't get your name but your dog is called Ruby) - is super friendly and brought sausages for Alf and Ness that of course went down a treat - now friends for life :). Will deffo be back xx PS hope your dog training with Ruby went well xx

The absolute best mint hot chocolate, would recommend everyone to try,it was delicious! Very friendly service with a smile :-)

When out for our exercise we got a hot chocolate. It was gorgeous the cream on top was freshly whipped would definitely recommend just what you need to warm and cheer you up on a cold lockdown day.

We visited Newbiggin for the first time in many many years and were pleased that the cafe was open to grab a takeaway coffee on a chilly December day. I ordered 2 coffees and when I realised they weren't freshly made, but from a machine, I wish I hadn't. The cappucino was very poor quality, didn't taste much of coffee and I poured it away.However, I also grabbed a Christmas scone to take away and have to say that it was delicious - really fresh, tasty, nice texture and would definitely recommend.Friendly service.

The battered fish I presume was not fresh but out of a packet. The batter on this was undercooked. The chips were frozen crinkle cut ones I could have bought myself from a shop for alot less. The food was disgusting never had as bad. For 16.00 I would have had a better frozen meal from Asda.

I was served tea and a scone with jam and cream on a cold afternoon. The staff were polite, and the bill was £5.10.

Passing thro Newbiggin by the sea, wanted a snack. Popped in The Endeavour, had a couple of coffees & chips each. Just the job, comfortable, pleasant staff, good attention to Covid protection. Was also a good menu if required.

We visited Newbiggin -by-the-Sea as we were travelling around Northumberland. We went in there in a group of five on late Saturday afternoon. The place looks more like a cafe rather than a restaurant. We had 3 fish and chips with pot of tea and 2 rack of ribs with chips and soft drinks. Fish and chips were delicious but rack of spare ribs were okay. I was a bit disappointed that there were not fresh, felt like they had been reheated. Food were served promptly and the waitress was very pleasant and efficient.When we asked for a bill, we were given a figure, a break down of the bill would be helpful. Luckily our meals were quite straight forward.

Lovely little cafe serving a good selection of traditional home cooked meals at a reasonable price. Food delicious and portion size generous. Will be recommending the Endeavour in our holiday cottage's visitors book. One very small criticism, choice for vegetarians is very limited.

Visited this lovely restaurant today for lunch, the staff were amazing, so friendly and attentative. Food was first class and reasonably priced,will definitely return and would highly reccomend.

Waited 45 minutes to get served and charged a fortune for just alright food. But, waitress was lovely.

We visited the cafe. I ordered a tea for one, a milkshake and one order of mushroom and cheese omelette with chips. Waited a long time for the order then they tried to charge me £16.00 and then changed it but still charged for a pot of tea for two when I only wanted one tea as I was having a milkshake. Will definitely not be back.

Went for lunch and had fish and chips. The service was prompt and the meal was hot. When I cut into the fish the first thought I had was, better than the chippy. The batter was crispy, light and not full of grease and the fish was perfectly cooked. The whole meal very enjoyable. Not too much not to little. The owner and her staff have customer service spot on. Would recommend to friends and will definitely go back.

I visited today with my husband having lived in Newbiggin for 6 years now and never having been. We were really happy with our service, two young girls serving were quick and friendly, and the food was lovely. I had scampi and chips which was a huge portion and my husband had a hot beef sandwich and we felt both were value for money. We really enjoyed our visit.

We had a wonderful breakfast here this morning. The lovely lady who runs it was so friendly and welcoming and the food was yummy. Great cappuccino too. Thanks for having us and wishing you every success in the future.

We went for a walk along the prom at Newbiggin today, it was nice to see so many people out and all at a safe distance. We decided to have a coffee out, our first since Covid 19. The Endeavour looked that nice we crossed the road and read the safety notices on windows, we sat at one of the outside tables, some one came to take our order we had 2 coffees and I went for the home made apple pie with pouring cream.It arrived and the coffee smelt lovely, the apple pie reminded me what my granny used to make proper slices of apple nice short crust pastry and real sugar on top. There’ so many places don’t put sugar on their pies now. I must say it tasted as good as it looked and it was a nice size. The cream came in a good size jug as well ..the owner came out and asked if it was ok , yes its great, she was very pleasant and chatted for a few moments at the right distance.it was a lovely end to our walk . Felt like things were starting to get back to a bit of normality and safe. The pie just made the day. Would highly recommend going for a meal as the menu had some great meals on .

Excellent food, friendly and efficient staff. Very varied menu, something for everyone and very good value for money.

Just pop in for a cuppa and had excellent scones and jam and cream and fruit tea. Good price will return and try the breakfast.

We recently went to new begin by the sea and it’s become a tradition over the last few years to visit the endeavour on a Sunday. It’s beautiful inside quirky. We all love. Only problem is being a southerner we don’t expect so much food. It’s amazing quality like your mum would cook. Truly fabulous place. Staff are amazing. And so greeting and conciencence. The poor reviews this place has got makes my blood boil. True snobs. Thank you for a lovely meal feb the 16th xxxxxxx

We went on a family day out and the fish shop was closed so we decided to have lunch here , to start I just want to say that the waitress was very friendly. We ordered fish and chips, we didn't want tea that was included in the meal deal because we don't like tea & one was for my young son who wouldn't want tea yet we weren't offered an alternative drink included we had to pay £7 extra for a 4 glasses of soft drinks (which in my opinion should be included), the fish was tasty and nice and white but the chips were frozen oven crinkle cut chips which was very disappointing, also at end of meal we weren't given an actual bill just told the amount. All in all a nice enough meal just bit pricey and not homemade chips..

A surprise phone call from an old friend, inviting me for lunch, found me dining in The Endeavour. The cafe is clean and warm. We were welcomed by two members of the staff. As the tables were spaced out my friend and I were able to talk privately. The food was delicious along with the filter coffee. I had a baked potato and my friend had the omelet. I can't wait to return.

We enjoy a walk new years day and visited here last year. Unbelievable that the lady who served us remembered us from last year. Once again have to say the food served was spot on. Husband and son had fish soup and crab sandwiches and I had a coronation chicken baked potato. The staff here are really friendly and the food was super fresh and tasty. Good efficient service even when really busy. Not in newbiggin often but will be back in.

We passed this little establishment several times and vowed that we would call in as so many customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. The day we went and as we walked in to door some people were just being served large portions of fish, chips and peas cooked really well with what appeared to be a nice, light batter. We were attended to immediately but had to wait a while for our own fare as it is all cooked fresh to order and very nice it was too. A very interesting old building with pleasant attentive staff

Called in for coffee and cake while on a stroll. The coffee was good but I opted for the hot chocolate and it was delicious. On the way out two friends bought ice cream and said it was really good. All in all nice surroundings nice food and drink and a place to return to.

While on holiday we had various meals at the Endeavour and not only did they have delicious meals, the staff are extremely friendly. I loved the decor, especially the old range in one of the rooms.

We sat outside the Endeavour for quite a while enjoying the sun over a pot of tea and a cheese scone and apple pie with cream. The server was lovely and helpful and she made sure that the table was spotless before leaving our order.

Me and my wife have been coming here for 6 years and have never had a bad meal. The service has always been fantastic from Michele and the girls. would highly recommended coming here.

I visited on a Saturday lunchtime. I ordered the crab salad and was not disappointed. The crab meat was good quality and a good sized portion. Served with a fresh salad, wholemeal bread and butter.

We travel all over Northumberland on Sunday for lunch so thought we try newbiggin for a change the reviews looked OK so we went the Endeaver Big mistake waited ages even though it was not busy there was 4 of us got 2 dinners waited 10 mins for the other 2 we had 1 pork 3 beef horrible all the veg were frozen veg and the Yorkshire were the cheapest frozen ones dissgracefull avoid it like the plague

Hardly a restaurant more a cafe food very small portions ,basic bland food not even home made yorkshire puddings,sausages weren't cooked properly and they were very poor quality

We always call in here in the winter for a cuppa and scone with our dog as nowhere else in newbiggin welcomes dogs. The girls here are so lovely and welcoming.

Visited here twice this week whilst on holiday here. I'm a fussy eater and they were very helpful in assisting me with my meals. It is a dog friendly cafe and you sit to one side with a door in between customers with no dogs. Good idea.

Little house hunting trip in deepest industrial North East. Everywhere somewhat depressed buildingwise but everybody totally cheerful apart from some dark hued bearded types driving.

Me and my partner visited Newbiggin by the Sea to have a walk along the promenade with our pug Pugsley when we came across this British restaurant ‘The Endeavour’ The waitress informed us that the smaller side of the restaurant was dog friendly so we went there. I ordered mince and dumplings with veg- (there was plenty gravy but I asked the waitress for a gravy boat which was provided). My partner opted for the freshly battered fish and chips with mushy peas... he was so pleased that they were the proper mushy peas!!! And the batter nice and crispy. It came with tea, bread and butter. Definitely good value for money. Staff were friendly and provided an efficient service.

Went to the endeavour restaurant last Sunday for a roast and it was absolutely delicious! All of the staff are really lovely and definitely do service with a smile! Will definitely be eating here more often and would 100% reccomend everyone else to aswell!!

Came in here with my mam recently and we both had the homemade soup and bread roll, we both really enjoyed it, staff were also very kind and pleasant we will definitely be back !!!

Before I review my meal I would like to say that the staff were very pleasant but the meal awful. The bread was dry and was spread with either a very cheap yellow butter or margarine. I was also very disappointed to be served with frozen chips in a seaside restaurant. The fish was ok but didn’t have a lot of taste. When asked the waitress did confirm the chips were frozen and I commented that I was disappointed with them. She didn’t seem to know how to respond to this and did not attempt to address my disappointment.

Got 2 portions of fish and chips which come to a total of £17.10p absolutely robbing, chips weren't even homemade either I expect at least that, portion size terrible and didn't come with peas either which it said on the blackboard never again can get 3 portions of fish and chips from the chippy for that price.

Visited the resaurant recently after spotting the food through the window on a previous visit to Newbiggin. Given a warm welcome and offered a choice of tables with my elderly father.

The food was OK, fish and chips. Service a bit slow. Could possibly return if visiting Newbiggin again.

Regrettably the nice staff can’t make up fo my disappointing meal. I was going to have scampi until I noted that it was a cheap mix of re-formed scampi bits with white fish. Although my friend’s steak pie was okay, I regret to say that my haddock and chips wasn’t. The haddock was slightly overcooked and nearly tasteless, whereas the chips were undercooked and not a very nice potato. Even salt and vinegar couldn’t lift the taste and I left the tasteless batter. And where was the bread and “butter” this time? Nice large pot of tea though. For a restaurant that boasts a seafood menu in a seaside town I was surprised at the poor quality of the fish and chips, and it wasn’t cheap by local standards.

This place is good as it has fast service and nice food. It is really good because it’s right by the sea.

Terrible, tasteless, frozen chips a definate no no for a fish & chip restaurant by the sea! Not even lashings of salt and vinegar could add any flavour to the cod and chips and at £20 for 2, shocking waste of money.

Have to be honest we went to the drift cafe and they were unbelievably busy so enroute back stopped at newbiggin not expecting anywhere to be open. Not been here for food before and were pleasantly surprised. They were busy and said they would take our order as soon as . Not a problem. We ordered soup , crab sandwiches and a baked potato. The food was lovely and freshly prepared and the staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend and visit again .

Been in here a few times, can honestly say we haven't had anything we could say was very nice. Too many tables crammed together not enough room to move around. typical greasy spoon type of place. The place looks likes it's not be updated since the 70s.needs a makeover desperately.

Had Sunday lunch,licenced for beer and spirts two mins walk from beach,food homemade though would have been nice to have homemade Yorkshire pudd , set lunch was piping hot,lots of meat,good place for Sunday lunch,also do other homemade food,worth a visit.

Really nice little cafe ...and one of a very few that open early on a Sunday morning . Fab bacon buttie and you can sit out side with dogs

Been twice now to this very friendly restaurant.Great food, well cooked.Lots of choices on menu.We had our dog with us and they have a room which you can dine in especially for people with pets.Water for our pup was brought without us asking which was a nice touch.The food is freshly cooked with a wide variety of choices.The puddings are great too.Cant fault this place.Highly recommended.Will make this one of our regular haunts.

Visited the Endeavour with my family on Sunday. Had a roast beef Sunday lunch which came very quickly although it was quite busy. The staff were amazing and the waitress who served us was kind and informative with everything we asked for. Personally I Would recommend to everybody

High prices. Long waiting times (one meal came out when the rest of us had finished!) rude waitress. No options for vegans apart from chips. The only veggie options are a cheese sandwich or a jacket potato with cheese.

Every other Wednesday Myself, Husband and my Husbands” Cousin go for coffee. Except last week it was Tuesday. We had planned to go to Melanie’s Tea Rooms in Newbiggin but they were not open. Anyway we parked the car and made our way to look for another coffee shop and we found the Endeavor. What a lovely coffee shop / cafe it was. Everything was nice, the coffees and the hot chocolate very tasty. They also have a drinks license, so you can buy beer, wine and the likes. Staff lovely, everything spotlessly clean. Quite a substantial menu. My Husband loves crab so he bought a crab sandwich to bring home for his lunch, said it was delicious and the brown bread it was served on said very tasty. Would I recommend, most certainly would. Only problem was the next day being Wednesday I thought it was Thursday. Old age I guess. Oh! I did not notice the opening times.

This family run is a excellent place to eat , it offers a good range of food and it is well worth eating in there , friendly staff ,clean ,licensed if you want a drink but it's the food I had mince with dumpling ,vegatables and creamed potatoes a big portion as well, so go on get in there and try it

It was a very cold morning and they went out their way to make sure we enjoyed a hot breakfast, it was delightful and just what we needed to start the day.

Family run cafe/ restaurant on the front street in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea great if you only want a coffee but the meals are great and I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and chips. Happy to recommend.

Lovely spot for some tasty food and friendly chatter. Very welcoming to babies and helping with baby food/warming bottles, which isn't so easy in most restaurants now. We had a lovely roast chicken in gravy bun with roasties. Good latte too.

Very traditional English seaside cafe, we had three great English breakfasts . All freshly cooked to order. With huge pot of tea, great start to lovely day. This really is a beautiful little seaside town, and the endeavour well worth s visit.

visited this restaurant yesterday 6th march had fish and chips more like a whale and chips my partner had chicken curry was first class .the owner comes across with first class communication skills . 10/10 for this restaurant

Visited at lunchtime today with a colleague. I had a tuna mayo salad. My colleague had a jacket potato with cheese. Good, honest food with good, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Great crab sandwich, well-filled and very fresh bread. My husband reported his fish and chips was excellent. Polite, friendly, efficient service. Just the ticket at the end of a chilly damp walk along the beach and a haven from the rain.

If out weren't for the music, I would give a higher rating. Food good, friendly service, but the choice of music was annoying.

Ordered a cheese sandwich and a bacon sandwich with tea and coffee. Quality was perfectly OK but waited almost half an hour for the sandwiches, by which time the tea and coffee (served straight away) had long gone.... It makes sense to serve drinks and sandwiches at the same time, not almost half an hour apart.

In my opinion, there's not a great deal in Newbiggin BUT I would go back just to visit Endeavour again. The food was delicious every time, especially the fish and chips and the main woman was always there to great you with a friendly smile. I used to work nearby and the staff even remembered my friends and family when we visited months later the following season. I'd suggest it to anyone.

Big portions of good food, at nice prices is always welcome. Throw in friendly staff and you're onto a winner. From home-made quiche, coleslaws, big jacket spuds and a choice of soups for the smaller appetites, through to huge staples of fish and chips, etc.it's on the main street, easy to find, and worth the choice. It does have a restaurant part, with a licensed drinks available
